  1. Is there a way to choose that setting? I intend to primarily use my FH1500 with Helix plugged into the monitor inputs, and would very much want the signal to continue out the main XLR outs on the FH1500...
  2. Hmmm.. good point. I am a total gear hoarder, so still have my HD500x. I might have to take a look at that; I would imagine there is also likely a chart made by a user somewhere in the forums; might take some searching! The DT MIDI implentation tells you which cc commands and codes to do what you want on the DT: http://line6.com/data/6/0a06434df0f650914b2056015/application/pdf/DT%20Amplifier%20MIDI%20Implementation%20Guide%20-%20English%20(%20Rev%20A%20).pdf
  3. For what it's worth, decent price on a used/mint L2m from Reverb.com https://reverb.com/item/1808944-line-6-stagesource-l2m-2-way-powered-smart-loudspeaker-like-new
  4. Yeah, I was chatting with Radatats, I used his templates / patches for Helix to DT25 just to see how it works, and in the process realized that using a patch like that is basically like turning Helix into a DTedit interface - and the configurations you set the DT with it stay after disconnecting the MIDI cable and such. I changed up to other presets after that, and with the MIDI cable unplugged, realized the DT channel volume, tone stack, gain knobs, were not functional anymore. The master volume continues to work. Basically, any preset sounds good through it! So I can only imagine how cool it must be to route that 'DT' toned signal back to the Helix for some extra mojo. Despair not DT owners! And wait not for Line6 to do anything more than is done now; you can 100% absolutely make Helix and DT play nice together, quite easily. And it really does shine! I would guess if they do address the Helix-DT integration down the road, it could be as simple as providing templates with a Helix updates, and paired to a minor firmware update to the DT perhaps?
  5. Use AES/EBU digital cable, got mine from BestTronics. They will make them any length you want. I have two 10', two 20', and two 30'. They have never given me any trouble. Use them with M20d, HD500x, and Helix, with L2t, L3m, and DT25. Should be less $$ than the Line6 branded 30' and 50' options. BestTronics uses Belden or equivalent cable. http://btpa.com/AES-EBU1-XX.html
  6. The irony being that I paid regular price for my pair of L2t, but then later got a pair of L3m on sale when Zzounds was clearing out their inventory - so paid a fair bit less for the L3m than the L2t! go figure.. I haven't seen them go back on sale like that since; they were like $699/ea for the L3m - I am glad I snagged them when I did. I mostly use them at home for recording / jamming , my L2t live over at the rehearsal spot, beein using them when we jam on Fridays. For the L3m, with the 10" up top elevated like that off the ground it sounds clear while I am sitting or standing, and when I run Superior Drummer into them, the kick drum low end sounds huge. I also use a 5 string bass when I am tracking stuff, so it definitely helps to have the low end crossover like that. Handlles the low B reasonably well I don't need to use most of their available headroom / volume, but they sound great!!
  7. Sweet!! Yeah, I want to try that idea! really cool.. Does running it through the DT like that process the signal through the DT tubes?
  8. I had issues trying to use USB and AES/ (L6Link), only gave me two channels in ProTools; might be user error on my end though! Had some issues with my PC and the Helix drivers, I need to give it another more in depth attempt.
  9. Do you know if using the L6Link connection alters the USB soundcard function? I was having issues, it was only allowing the Helix to run as a two channel soundcard; not sure if the issue is with my Windows 7 PC, or maybe I need to reinstall drivers. Streamed / recorded music fine using L6Link; but I didn't try running the XLR outs instead to see if that alters the soundcard options in Pro Tools..
  10. Definitely interesting options here! The monitor input 'stereo' portion of the speaker system uses five speakers - the four coax speakers (two on each side), and the center 12" speaker. The mono system that takes the 'guitar' input adds the center horn and something else with the center 12" speaker. You can set a blank/empty patch on the FH1500, and also run a 1/4" out from Helix or AX8 into the guitar input on the FH1500, while also feeding it with the stereo XLR send. The big knob allows you to balance the guitar in level to the overall master level, and you have a dedicated control for the monitor level in, so you can definitely dial in a type of wet/dry/wet within the FH1500, which will then get sent out the Fh1500 XLR however you dial in the blend. You could just send the mono/1/4" out from the Helix/AX8 including post amp model / wet FX. or, in particular with Helix, you can tap out a send from any point in the signal chain, and control it's send, of/off state, or volume with a footswitch or with expression pedal. Be able to fade in some 'dry' amp model to get sound from the center 'mono' speaker system, back it off to go back to just the stereo 5 speaker system. Very cool; I was of the same thought process, except instead of CLR was contemplating Friedman ASM12. Two of those would be a huge ton of weight, way more $$, same basic issue. I dig the tilt back option on FH1500, as well as regular amp position. And like you said, never hurts to have a backup that is already wired into the sound system!
  11. Just finally got around to testing my Helix with my DT25. Wow! Way cool, great sound, really - really loud. Using DT25 combo stacked on top of DT25 1x12 extension cab. Disabled the DT amp/cab/mic using Radatats patches with a MIDI cable, and then just tweaked the Bogner power topology. Digging it *alot*. Radatats templates were a really good starting point, and they function well to 'prep' the DT for use with any other Helix patch - at least in terms of bypassing the DT and going direct to the Bogner power amp (using the L6Link). Changing patches and using it without the MIDI cable once it's disconnected leaves the DT in that 'no amp' 'no cab' state, so be sure you have it set on a voicing/channel of the DT you are not intending to use in standalone mode! Near as I can tell, if you power the DT off and disconnect the MIDI cable and turn the DT back on, the MIDI edit to disable the onboard amp and and cab remains in place. So for example, then I tried a few of Glenn DeLaune's presets, as is, into the DT, and they just totally rock, sounds killer. I think that 'amp' sound is hard to get away from; the horns and tweeters in these FRFR systems sound great up to a certain extent. But if you are jamming in a less than perfect room with another guitarist who is also using a real tube amp, and a loud bassist and loud drummer, no matter how loud your FRFR system, there is a struggle to sound 'equivalent'. I would be jamming along, not even really hearing myself, we would stop playing, and I would play and realize I was blasting loud - but just swallowed up in the mix. Granted, that is due in large part, to not great room, way too loud other players, not setting and dialing in my patches for that kind of SPL, etc. I don't think dialing in patches to use with the DT would be plug and play, with patches designed for direct to FOH - but it's a good means to amplify your patches on stage, while also feeding your Helix direct to mixer/FOH,etc. I just treated the DT25 like a powered tube speaker system, will need to mess about more with splitting up the amp model and cab model. Not sure what the DT25 XLR out signal is sending, need to experiment more with that output option too. At the moment sending Helix direct sounds better than anything else, but never hurts to explore all the options! In all very positive experience, made me realize how very versatile DT25 is. And the process is very simple using Radatats template. (Thanks!!) Also quite encouraging that the DT25 remains a viable killer amp option using Line6Link with the Helix. Best of both worlds; tube sound to hear yourself play + FRFR signal to FOH that can be stereo or mono and monitored through wedge. In conjunction with the DT25 signal, sounds really good. Cheers!
  12. Lol, same here! Just what I need, GAS for more gear :)
  13. Yeah, same here, loving the Stagesource rig! Haven't had a chance to bring the parts all together, but Helix sounds killer through FH1500 all by itself! My hope was use it as a dedicated Helix amp, so the L2 as floor monitors can be spread around to the drummer and other guitarist. Dunno yet, how it will all play together, but so far it's good! Been leaving the FH1500 at the practice spot, it's really heavy to lug it around! So I bring Helix back and forth from home to jam spot. I have the M20d and two L3m speakers at home, and the FH1500 plus two L2t at the rehearsal space. Reasonably consistent across those three units! I need to mess with the FH1500 speaker modes or whatever that was L6Arne mentioned, about tilt back mode cutting some bass. It does have a lot of bass! Sounds nice though, streams music really well. I need to try those Ownhammer IR's next Cheers!
  14. It does accept 1/4"; though with Helix to an L2m, you could also use the Line6Link connection.
  15. Going to give the Helix+FH1500 another spin at Friday's jam; went really well last week as a three piece, second guitarist and possibly second drummer coming this time, so it will be a proper SPL test of the gear! From cranking it up on Friday, I don't think it's gonna be a problem. I have the L2t's over there too, might do something crazy like L6Link out to the L2t's, then XLR out from there to the FH1500. Dunno if I need *that* much volume :)
  16. Never a bad thing to have some options! You could treat the notion of having dual Firehawk tone engines capable of merging into a the FH1500 speaker systems. You could program an FX send of your dry guitar signal to send to the FH1500 guitar in, while also sending the FHFX XLR stereo to the FH1500 XLR monitor inputs. Or make that 1/4" send a dry after amp model send, or even the summed l/r to just use the extra speakers. The craziest sounds would be dual parallel tones using the FHFX for one patch/tone and the FH1500 for another different or overlapping tones. A way to run your signal just after amp model into a second set of wet FX, expanding options. Get a second tablet, phone, etc to control the FH1500, and have both device presets on two phones right in front of you. Add the extra floor controller for the FH1500 and you have an ultra versatile dual Firehawk mega crazy cool rig.
  17. I actually just did exactly that! Sounded stellar, really good. Helix XLR to FH1500 monitor XLR inputs, cranked up, kicked back on the stand was perfect for jamming with a really loud drummer and bassist with a Hartke stack. I also think the added option to send a 1/4" from Helix to the mono center speaker system into a blank patch on the FH1500 is killer, and could potentially allow you to shape the final XLR stereo out going to the PA, mixer, FOH, etc. I am thinking assign an extra exp pedal to control volume to that 1/4" 'dry' send, or assign a FS to either toggle that send on and off, or impact it's volume, or it's wet-dry mix, or any other number of things. Ultimately, for a high powered amp with a wet-dry-wet, this thing rocks for people who have Helix. I also have L2t and L3m speakers, which are also killer, but my intent was use the L3 for the main speakers and L2 for floor monitors with the M20d mixer. Send stereo XLR from the output of FH1500 to channels on the mixer, and not have to rely on the L2 floor monitor for all or any of my guitar signal. That's my two cents worth! Just got my FH1500 open box from Musicians Friend, just got to test it on Friday. I also did that 1/4" send to the FH dry from the second out on my G70 receiver. Loaded the FH app on my phone and did some of the FH presets in parallel with the Helix tones. Some mad cool options there!! Will jam again Friday, hopefully with another guitarist with a Fender tube amp. I need to do the FH1500 firmware update, something about sounding better at high volumes! Want to see how it holds up at full band volume, but thus far, more than loud enough, and a stellar way to crank up Helix. It's super heavy, so I like the look of the new transport case..
  18. Somebody snag this! open box from Sweetwater... http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FireHawk1500d
  19. Must say, the Firehawk app is really cool, so I am also interested in checking out the Firehawk presets, see how the FH HD models compare to the 500x, Helix, etc. It's also cool they have so many of the random 'legacy' models. I do still remember the X3Live had a lot of cool amps and some FX that went away with the HD series. One thing I can say; it's really, really heavy. Lift carefully! Watch your lower back peeps, this amp is no joke! I did stream some Beatles from Spotify to it at work, and it sounded really nice - wasn't able to crank up or anything, but was super easy to pair up the Bluetooth and turn up the volume
  20. nice!! Yeah psyched to test mine out with the guys on Friday, hoping to crank it up with some loud drums and bass with my Helix. Thinking of cool ways to use Helix programming to control the extra 1/4" send to the guitar input to take advantage of the extra speakers! Maybe toggle that send on and off with an FS or use an EXP pedal to control the send level. Might just take the 1/4" out of Helix to not even split out a wet dry, so it's just wet L/wet mono Center /wet R
  21. Can two external exp pedals be configured with Helix to control the XLR output level separate from the Line6Link output?
  22. That's a good question! since Firehawk1500 has Variax input, and USB, does it also allow connection between Workbench HD and the variax?
