  1. I stuck with Sweetwater; took about 1-1/2 months. When did you preorder? I put my preorder in on 11/13, and received my Helix on 12/30, 48 days from order to arrival. Incidentally, Zzounds says March 7th now..
  2. Here's a couple of other patches to give a try: http://line6.com/customtone/profile/mrcdboston
  3. Anyhow, my point is - I plug my Helix XLR outs into a pair of L2t speakers (back panel XLR input), and using those global EQ settings, and Glenn DeLaune's bogner and bogner lead patches, early van halen, etc - the insanely high gain, very loud, very overdriven tone is *far* from harsh. It's actualy quite epic, really. Smooth, creamy, and makes-me-want-to-play kind of good. So, to remain constructive, try some of Radatats DT-Helix patches. And if he has them posted or will send them to you, try his "wet-dry-wet, stereo PA with a DT in the middle" patch. Radatats also came up with a 3-channel amp patch, which I am going to try this weekend! Those are some free options. Helix has the ability to sound amazing, or also really bad. That's not a limit, it's a feature keeping with the REAL equipment. Certain amp, cabinet, speaker and mic combinations are more pleasing and effective than others. How overdrive sounds is a big part of that! I had my analog stompbox type pedalboard dialed in perfectly with my DT25, using a Plexi Bright amp model. Then I tried to run the same pedalboard with same settings into a different - albeit on it's own nice sounding tube amp - and it sounded harsh, overly bright, all wrong. I had to tweak a bunch on that amp to get closer to the amp sound I was used to, and also tweak the pedals alot, mostly the drive pedals. Those are all Keeley and Fulltone; they sound amazing. But only through the right amp tone! All that aside, check out Glenn's DeLaune's patches; particularly his Helix bundle and his new 3-channel amp patch. :) Good place to start! Also, one last note - keep in mind, the L3t and L3m speakers use that bottom speaker in more of a sub woofer capacity; it primarily pushes low end. One approach, is try putting the L3t on it's side, and using it's kick stand, set it up like a floor monitor. If that is what you were already doing, try orienting it vertically. Take a point to listen to the bottom speaker vs the top speakers, and position yourself and the speaker accordingly. my L2t's are at the band rehearsal space now, so I will use them Friday night with Helix, and then use my pair of L3m at home Saturday night with Helix. I will try to note any significant difference between patches that I know to sound good on L2t, and compare them to how they sound with L3m.. Cheers!
  4. For the band mix, try running the (mono) signal through a volume pedal before it hits the L2t. Jimmy Herring uses several, sometimes one for each part of the monitor mix. http://www.guitarplayer.com/artists/1026/10-things-you-gotta-do-to-play-like-jimmy-herring/21757 "First, he prefers to split his dry and wet signals between separate speaker cabs, and second, his ’board features six Ernie Ball VPJR volume pedals that allow him to tweak the individual levels of all the other instruments onstage in his monitor."
  5. I believe the repair might not be to the screen, but possibly to a connector cable from screen to something inside. Just a guess..
  6. Where are you located? If you are in the States, L6 will quickly repair it, as they did mine and Glideman's. If you are elsewhere other than the US, they have a different route for replacement through original vendor. Start with opening a service ticket with L6, go from there..
  7. Just add additional instances of any effect you need to control with more than one foot switch?
  8. (You might need to navigate back to main software menu to get these links to work) Line6 updater: http://line6.com/getrelease?rid=6454&uid=1188905 G70 receiver firmware: http://line6.com/getrelease?rid=6344&uid=1188905 G70 transmitter firmware: http://line6.com/getrelease?rid=6339&uid=1188905
  9. Here is the specific quote I mentioned about G70 specs: http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/lets-talk-about-latency.1661651/#post-21246959 "G70 and G75 have 1.47ms of full throughput latency, which as far as I know, is the fastest digital wireless signal available, including broadcast systems over $100,000."
  10. Well, I had a G50, upgraded to a G70, and after doing the update, has been flawless. It's the lowest latency/fastest wireless available on the market anywhere of any wireless of any price point, including $10k units. So, to update the G70 you need the new 'Line6 updater', and you have to update firmware on both the transmitter and receiver. I had a couple issues trying to update, I think it worked better by downloading the file from the L6 website, then launching the updater app, tell it load from file.
  11. There ya go! I was wondering what to do for l6link global eq approximation.
  12. Yes!!! Did not think of that, perfect!! Then you get a wah with on/off switch, on same exp pedal. Then exp 2 & 3 can be really anything. Likely for me, volume pedal, and some kind of settings warp between various parameters. I have a second Mission exp pedal on order (b stock sale!) Super psyched to test this out. Thanks!
  13. Skip the Carvin mixer for now, try Helix XLR outputs to the L3t back panel XLR input in each speaker. Just to further simplify, use 1/4" from JTV to Helix. Turn on global EQ, try these (Glenn DeLaune) settings as a starting point: Low Gain, Mid Gain and High Gain are ALL set to Zero. -the Low Cut set at 90Hz -the High Cut set at 6.0 Hz You could also try changing the Helix XLR output to mic level, it defaults to line level.
  14. I was asking a similar question about Helix behavior when using two external exp pedals. The response was that the external pedals become exp 2 & 3, and the onboard stays as exp1. The toe switch will still work to activate the wah, but the onboard exp will remain as exp1 and exp2 will control the wah (and anything else assigned to exp 2) Anyone with more Helix experience than myself care to chime in?
  15. How much did you end up needing to buy? Amazon just gave me another free month of Prime shipping, may as well get the DualLock from them. Is that Amazon link you posted enough, or need more? Guessing 10' seems adequate? Cheers!
  16. Anyone test what comes out of the XLR out on back of DT when using Helix amp and cab? I will finally be able to start digging in with my Helix this week! A bit late to the party, but fashionably so. And, here comes NAMM, fingers crossed for a cool new Helix update.. :)
  17. That is great, thanks!! I want to be able to have it stick reasonably well, but I also want to be able to remove it without a huge hassle.
  18. Did you have to incorporate any riser or build up between Helix and the pedalboard surface to make that work? I have a 24x12 flat board on order, looking at the various options. Was trying to sort out how to do what Glenn mentioned above, have no clue where to buy or how to cut 1/4" PVC sheet! I definitely don't want to add too much extra weight, or cover up any vents. I like the idea of that dual lock stuff, seems to be a better grip that regular or heavy duty velcro..
  19. Yeah, the extra expression pedals can get expensive! I just picked up a b-stock from Mission for $100: http://missionengineering.com/?product=b-stock But that's just the regular L6-EP1, which will work with Helix or Helix rack or Rack floor control: http://missionengineering.com/?product=ep1-l6 They (Mission Engineering) are also now making a L6-EP specifically for the Helix Rack. The Rack floor control has a specific input for a toe switch, so you can use this pedal with two cables, to emulate the toe switch toggle on the regular Helix: http://missionengineering.com/?product=sp1-l6h-line-6-helix
  20. Quick revision to my 'Helix Sidecar Board' idea: -I went with a Pedaltrain Novo18; it's 2" deeper back, which allows some extra clearance behind the two Mission pedals for the Furman power- I didn't want the on/off switch anywhere near my feet! Also leaves plenty of room around the G70 receiver. >-I also called Rooster at Trailer Trash and ordered a 24x12 flat board. For $65, can't find anything else that is flat, will fit Helix, has those lift handles on the left and right, and will also fit in the Mono case. Need to research some options for sticking Helix to the flat board Quick note on the L6-EP1 Mission expression pedals, B-stock sale direct from Misson, they have one black L6-Ep1 and six red, $100 each (new they are $130) http://missionengineering.com/?product=b-stock
  21. Yeah! :) one quick addendum, go to global settings, tab over to delay, and set patch changes to bottom row and fx to top row, this also corresponds to how Glenn's presets are configured. It defaults to eight patch changes, and his patches are designed in the four x four mode. Just realized that today!
  22. I am using a pair of L2t, and will actually get to test them out at band level tomorrow (Friday) Will just be a trio, but with a Hartke bass stack and a very loud drummer; so will be a decent test of how well it holds up! At home, I used the two L2t vertical near each other, and just ran the two XLR (so as to engage global EQ), and they were sounding really sweet and very loud. Didn't go too crazy loud, but I cranked 'em up pretty good.. Have tried them as floor monitors as well, thinking I like them upright a little better. Will have to test both, see how the sound holds up at band volume.
  23. Yeah, here's what to do. 1.) Buy it and take it home 2.) Update the firmware 3.) Buy Glenn DeLaune's Helix patches 4.) Configure global EQ to his settings 5.) Run both XLR from the Helix to a pair of decent quality full range flat response speakers 6.) Play guitar!! As others mentioned above, no ideal sounds to be had in store. Need to do firmware update, that mic setting glitch made everything sound harsh, not right, which has been corrected. Be sure to follow the steps to reset all globals and patches after doing firmware update, before you load Glenn's patches on there.. Just my two cents. That's exactly what I did, and it sounds incredible. I am using two L2t speakers, which does make a difference, they rock, but other FRFR options will work. Heck a pair of 5" studio monitors will get you going!
  24. +1 to this! Well said sir! That's what I was trying to get across, but what you said sums it up far more elegantly.
  25. Well, for what it's worth looks like they are shipping mine back today, guessing it's going out with the UPS pickups tonight from the looks of it! :) When I see an estimated delivery date, will report back. And, in other news, turns out my Sweetwater rep resigned! I sent a few emails and never heard back, was starting to wonder.. Got a call today from my new sales rep, so I was able to let him know what was going on with L6 handling the repair. All is well that ends well! I didn't want to get my hopes too far up - I have the house to myself weekend of 1/23-1/24, and (fingers crossed) I should have me Helix back before then! Happy Dance, take 2 :)
