  1. Not like this is a good suggestion, but.. if it keeps you from relapsing on the cigs, or prevents murder! :) Maybe give a decent vapor rig a try? Not the disposable crap, get a decent refillable atomizer and a battery with adjustable voltage. Something along these lines? http://www.modernvapor.com/Default.asp You can start with a certain % nicotine, then reduce the amount. Like I said, not a great suggestion, my buddy doesn't smoke cigs anymore, but he inhales on that vapor rig non stop. Still, it's better than smoke! I just did my Sweetwater Helix pre-order, looking at first of year for mine. Good Luck!!! rock on
  2. Yes, as long as the FBV2 is a dual latching type. I have a generic foot switch that works fine, doesn't even have labels! One switch toggles between amp A and B, the other reverb on/off. It works best when amp A and B are the same amp model, and generally the same power settings. I use it with A and B both set up as Plexi bright. I match the settings on both, then I increase a touch of gain and volume to channel B, so it acts like a boost with a little extra grit Along these lines.. https://reverb.com/item/495526-hosa-fsc-385-dual-latching-footswitch https://reverb.com/item/578049-dual-channel-latching-foot-switch-kit-switch-input-signals-on-your-amp
  3. I just re-pre-ordered a Helix from Sweetwater on Friday the 13th of November, so I will report back when it's on the way! Sweetwater estimate is sometime in late December or into January
  4. Actually. I think someone already answered my question, just did some more forum searches, missed it previously! Thanks jaminjimlp!! "jaminjimlp 20 Oct 2015 Since I got the Helix Friday I have had it hooked up to 2 L2M's with the L6 Link and it is in stereo and I have used it as my PT12 interface and it comes through Stereo (steaming through USB)
  5. Meaning, Helix L6Linked to a pair of L2t speakers, rather than the analog XLR outs. DI was looking into this a couple months ago, never heard a conclusive answer. On the HD500, when connected as soundcard, playback from computer doesn't transmit through the L6Link connection. Not sure why
  6. Does the L6Link connection function on Helix when connected via USB to a computer? IE, playback and tracking from ProTools, or streaming audio? It does NOT work on HD500/x, wasn't sure if that changed on Helix.. Thanks!
  7. Anyone have anything to report about using Helix with L2 and/or L3 speakers? How about Helix as soundcard, L6linked to L2 or L3 speakers? I was recently able to re-pre-order mine (cancelled my first preorder due to budget issues), so now I wait.. Possibly till January! Anyhow, I already have the L2t and L3m speakers for my PA rig, just made final 8th payment to Zzounds for a pair of L3m, they had them on sale for $699 each, could not resist! Currently, the PA rig not getting much use at the moment, so really looking forward to running Helix into those speakers.. Guessing best way is just Line6 link? With the exception possibly, of when streaming USB from DAW, since L6link doesn't work, as is the case with HD500.. (or did anyone figure out yet if when using Helix as a soundcard, does audio streamed from DAW output through L6link, or not?) Cheers!
  8. Yeah, I hear ya about the lower back! I have all those pedals on a large Pedaltrain board, with a Voodoo Lab Mondo power supply underneath. Weighs about the same as my DT25 combo! Basically, I reached a wall with using my HD500x, and reconnected with the simple joy of plugging pedals into the front of an amp. Oh, and I forgot the ISP decimator g string noise gate too! Anyway, it all sounds awesome, and despite being stupid heavy to carry, is really a sweet board. That, and trying to sell pedals, you always lose money, sometime a lot.. I used all George L's cabling on it, also stupid expensive.. I think that if I can get the Helix to switch up the PX-8 to toggle the Keeley pedals in and out, using the amp models on the Helix, to an L2t, and possibly keep the DT25 in the mix, it could be pretty cool! Major overkill, but since Helix can do all these killer extra routing options, why not?!?
  9. From the looks of the Helix design, it seems like keeping pedals, even entire pedalboards makes sense with all the routing, input and output options. For now I intend to keep the HD500x, no immediate need to sell it. I also have my main pedalboard, and all of it stays. Where I want to go with that one, is MIDI control from the Helix to my switcher and L6 M9. As far as how to do that, I've no clue, yet! I have an 8 loop, Voodoo Lab PX8, which from what I understand, can be sent MIDI commands to toggle various groups of each fx on and off. It's this thing: http://www.voodoolab.com/px8.htm I use the M9 in my amps fx loop, just for chorus, reverb, delays and some random other fx. Pedals I am keeping: Dunlop Hendrix wah, Keeley Bootlegger germanium overdrive, Keeley Neutrino autowah, Keeley four knob compressor, Keeley modded Ibanez TS9, Keeley Cure ALS overdrive, Keeley Seafoam chorus, Keeley phaser, Fulltone OCD, and Fulltone 2B.. :)
  10. Lincoln Brewster's had a Helix for a few months already! He posted it on Facebook on August 27th https://www.facebook.com/line6/posts/10154114167205639
  11. I totally agree about Glenn DeLaune, and when I get my Helix, I am definitely gonna check those patches out! His YouTube Helix video is stellar
  12. It's certainly indicative of a high demand! Which, from a market study viewpoint, is quite interesting. They took a gamble at this higher price point, and it seems to have paid off. Considering Sweetwater flat out refused to entertain any notion of a price drop, people are buying these things up, and there are still a bunch of folks waiting! I am attempting to wait it out a bit, since even if I pre order now, I won't have it till next year. Ideally, snag 36mo financing from Sweetwater, and maybe a little Black Friday sale can be had. We'll see!
  13. Nice, good to hear Glideman! Maybe a Happy Helix Thanksgiving for you!! Seems like the 36 month promo comes along on a semi-regular basis? It's not like hurrying up to preorder will get it here any faster..
  14. Yeah, I had one on pre-order when it was first announced, but had to cancel it due to budget issues. Then, a couple days ago, I got a nice surprise, my Sweetwater credit card decided to increase my limit up $2k, so... I got in touch with my rep, err 'sales engineer' :) at Sweetwater, and inquired about ETA, and anything he can do on price. No go on the price drop, due to high demand. They still have existing pre-orders that haven't shipped yet, so he gave me a ballpark of being available (if I preorder now), sometime near end of December, maybe early next year. I asked him to let me know if they are going to run the 36 month offer again, or if they do any Black Friday offers. If he was telling me I'd have it in a couple weeks, I wouldn't have the willpower to wait, but knowing I am going to be waiting anyway - and with the Holidays + Black Friday approaching, will see what waiting gets me.. :)
  15. Wow, this thing is awesome... I hadn't previously grasped the versatility of that mode switch! Loving the toggle between preset mode and stompbox mode. Great video by Glenn!
  16. I think A/B is the lower wattage, class A is a lot louder on mine as well. Definitely take the time to tweak the onboard setup with DTedit, makes the standalone amp use a lot better. Load your favorite amp rigs on the eight channels. Remember, you are defining the configuration for each, including topo I-IV. If you set them all to topo II in DTEdit, when you toggle between channels I-IV using the amp controls, it will all be topo II. So it's worth dialing around the "behind the scenes" options. Some must be controlled using MIDI, others can be tweaked on the fly. You can tweak A to A/B and pentode-triode on the amp itself. You must use MIDI to change boost on or off, and the topology setting for each amp model.
  17. Yeah, right now my HD500x is only running as my soundcard, and I have been just running pedals into the DT with 1/4" cables, with an M9 in the FX loop. Thus far, I am using the Plexi bright. I have it set up on all eight channels. I prefer the boost setting off.. I use topology II, class A/B, pentode. I use four cabs for the four A/B pairs. I have a two button dual latching footswitch to toggle between A/B. I also like topo III, boost off, and either class A-triode, or class A/B pentode, to balance the topo III volume boost. Topo IV also sounds decent on the plexi bright. I don't use the onboard reverb much, due to the placement of my noise gate, as the first pedal after the DT FX send. The reverb happens before the send rather than after the return, so my noise gate tends to muck it up. I leave just a touch of the verb on both channels, and use the reverbs on the M9 as more of an effect reverb, like hall and particle. I also rigged up an L2t to the XLR out, and tweaked through the various mic models, ended up going with 57 off axis. They all sound decent though, somewhat tricky to audition them on the fly, since the FX loop doesn't function in LVM.. I ended up just putting the DT in another room and had the L2t next to me while I tweaked with DTedit
  18. I just discovered that when using a DT25 in low volume mode, that the FX loop is not active. No big deal, works in full power mode. I have been spending time lately tweaking the DT 25 for standalone mode, with my stombox pedalboard. I also added an L2t, using the channel input, to monitor the DT XLR output. Really digging the M9 in the DT fx loop for post FX. The simplicity of it is stellar. Added the exp pedal, and it's way easy to set heel \ toe variations. The DT actually sounds really stellar! I got so used to pairing it with the HD500, that I forgot how sweet it is as a straight up tube amp! Anyway, if anyone knows why the DT FX loop doesn't work in LVM, let me know!? Cheers ya'all
  19. Hey there ya'all, selling my M20d on Reverb, figured I would give a heads up here on the forum. It's the fairly obvious listing; at last check, it's one of only 3 or 4 on there, and the only one that is used, and includes the plastic L6 beer (dust) guard and the L6 case. So, hit me up if you are interested! I bought it from Sweetwater around March last year. It's spent all it's time in my home studio, and at my previous band's rehearsal space. Never gigged, totally babied. I returned the first unit they sent me, it was defective; this one has been flawless, and never given me any problems. Cheers!
  20. It's a tough call; the DT25 is always going to be a versatile rockin' tube amp. And yeah, you have to do some hoop jumping to get the JTV to sound decent in the DT25. I love my L2t speakers - for me, at this point, the main part I am looking to upgrade is the HD500, that's where I have reached my limit. I want to get a Helix, just need to sell some gear and save some coin! All that being said, what you can do, right now,, is use DTEDit to set up one set of channels on your DT amp in 'standalone' mode to be JTV acoustic friendly: http://line6.com/support/topic/124-user-created-dt-editors/ Use the MIDI DTEdit, and make something like IV-A and IV-B have 'no amp model', and no cab model. First set them to something like the fliptop (for both), so it queues up decent power amp topology, then choose 'no amp' or whatever the option is. Ok, then make a blank patch on the HD500, and don't assign any amp model. Just do nothing to start with, no amp model, no FX. Link to the DT25, connect your JTV. At this point you might need to increase the volume in the mixer block of the preset, and you will notice the DT master volume works, but the channel and tone stack and eq knobs should do nothing, but you should be hearing sound. For me, it sounded about 1,000% better. Since the JTV acoustic models are intended to sound like mic'd up acoustics, they never played nice with being sent through a guitar amp preamp process. You can get some nice effects from using boost compressors and such, and the EQ effects are useful. The key is setting the DT to which ever channel that you set up for 'no amp' model, when you connect this patch to the amp with link. It in essence, allows you to bypass the digital preamp portion, and tap directly in to the Bogner power amp section. You will find that different topologies and class a, a/b, pentode, triode, etc all have some bearing on the tone, regardless of the preamp normally paired with it.
  21. I read some previous threads, where L6 states it's just an issue with the small plastic knob, and they have a replacement. Needing a more immediate, albeit temporal solution, I just removed the knob and wedged a small piece of cardboard inside the knob post, allowing it to engage the button press properly. I definitely can see the benefit of having multiple scenes, for a single transmitter. I set up three scenes, with -3 gain, 0 gain, and +3 gain. Basic clean boost, though it has a slight dropout when toggling from scene to scene. But definitely a useful feature for changing guitars with varying levels! So, in the end, hardware issue, but simple fix. Could be worse!
  22. I hope I just have a user error issue, hoping it's not hardware malfunction.. I am having problems editing on the G70 receiver! Pressing the 'NAV' button seems to do nothing, but rotating it does function. Where it prompts Rename?, I can't get anything to happen. I can rotate the NAV knob to scroll between, but pressing it to select or change a value does nothing. Any ideas? I just re flashed the firmware on receiver and transmitter. Thanks!
  23. The Bestronics cable is high quality. You add the base price to the #of feet x price per foot, I think it's 88cents. I was playing a Varx standard recently, actually feels nice, I dig it. That to the Helix is gonna be sweet! Definitely do AUX in on the Amplifi, bypass and direct to power. cleaner signal that way, just the sound of Helix, not Helix filtered through Amplifi..
  24. Have you tried the Line6 link connection? That would be my first choice. L6 link from Helix to first L2, L2 link out to second L2 link in. Should auto configure itself to stereo. Though, it's worth noting the L6link doesn't transmit USB streaming audio. Or, at least, HD500 does not, and when I asked if Helix did, got no definitive answer.
  25. Fascinating thread in TGP! They made IR's from the Kemper and loaded them into the Helix.
