So why is it taking sooooo long for Helix to be readily Available.
ColonelForbin replied to lefttygtr's topic in Helix
Well, don't feel too bad bro; my just arrived Helix has a defective scribble strip and will be headed back to Sweetwater or Line6 tomorrow... On a brighter note, it sounds fantastic,so keep smiling knowing what you are waiting for is worth it! :) -
I have emailed Sweetwater and opened a support ticket with Line6, and will hope for the best.. :)
-
One thing I can say, having just received it.. It's killing me to have to send it back!! And wait for an unknown time.. Because it sounds incredible. I had it cranked up through a pair of L2t speakers, and it sounds great at loud volumes. I also really like toggling between presets and stompbox mode. Will report back when I have a replacement..
-
Thanks! I know you had a similar issue, did you return it where you bought it or did you open ticket with Line6? Emailed my Sweetwater rep, see what he says. Guess I will open a support ticket too, see what my options are.
-
Did you return / exchange the defective Helix with the store you bought it from, or with a service ticket through Line6? I also have a defective brand new Helix, one of the scribble strips is out / gone much darker than the rest.

LED flickering - Should I send the unit back?
ColonelForbin replied to franklavigne's topic in Helix
Hey there Frank, I just got a Helix, have only had it for a couple days and I seem to have that same issue, on a different strip. What did you end up doing to get it repaired or replaced? -
Yes, I am using a pair of L2t with Helix. XLR cables to the main XLR inputs on back panel of each L2t, so in essence same sound as L2m since I am not using the 't' side mixer panel. Sounds incredible actually! though I am test driving it for the first time tonight. I have been using the L2t's for a while with the HD500x and they have always sounded stellar. I also pump Superior Drummer through the L2's and they have a decent amount of low end for a 1x10. Using the global EQ, hence the XLR outs, though I am going to test the L6link next.

Just got my Helix on Wednesday from Sweetwater. Sounds fantastic, yet sadly looks like I might have a malfunctioning scribble strip. It's gone much darker, dimmer than the rest, almost off, but you can still barely read the patch or effect name. It's the footswitch strip to the left of the mode switch. Rebooting doesn't change it. Anyone else have this? Does any kind of factory reset help? or do I need to open a service ticket/email Sweetwater?.. Thanks :)

Created Ultimate Fender John Mayer Clean (Files including custom IRs)
ColonelForbin replied to JazzInc's topic in Helix
Incidentally, thanks!! My Helix literally just arrived today, Fed Ex delivered it to my office. I haven't even opened it yet :) Once I get up and running will give your patch a run through, thanks for the detailed info on how to make it happen with the IR loading! -

What I'd like to hear is some John Mayer tones based on his Dead & Company rig! His playing and performance level has been drastically elevated this year, these shows are better than the FTW stuff with Trey and Bruce. That's quite frankly some seriously groovy mojo he's got going with the new PRS! -
Check out Mission Engineering. You going with rack or floorboard Helix? Mission has a toe switch version, but only works for the Helix rack. The regular Mission L6 ep1 works as exp pedal with any Line6 gear, Helix rack & floor, HD500, etc. http://missionengineering.com/?product=ep1-l6 http://missionengineering.com/?product=sp1-l6h-line-6-helix http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/EP1L6Bk http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SP1L6H

I pre-ordered with Sweetwater on 11/13; they just called a few minutes ago to let me know it's shipping today and I should have it tomorrow :) Which makes 47 days from pre-order to delivery; not the worst way to spend 12.88% of a year, that's for sure! It's the 4 million seconds that were the hardest; the 1,100 hours just flew by, though the last 28 have been fantastic! 47 days can be converted to one of these units: 4,060,800 seconds 67,680 minutes 1128 hours 47 days 6 weeks and 5 days 12.88% of 2015 -
Just ordered mine yesterday; pysched to check this baby out! And yeah, that extra pocket looks huge! They seem to show an HD500 fitting easily in the outside pocket: Anyway, Mono, looks sweet. Nothing against the Helix bag, which also looks stellar. I have the M20d case for the mixer, and it's excellent. I have tried various hard cases in the past, and while my gear was well protected, my lower back was taking the beating instead! I used to have a Rondo case for my X3Live; of them all, it had the best strength to weight ratio; really light, and pretty damn strong! I had a Pedaltrain PT-2 with the flight case, and that hard case was just massive and crazy heavy. But, flawless protection.. I also used to have a similar to the Rondo lift off lid style pedalboard from a company called Diago, the Showman size fit an M13 and Voice Live 3 side by side; way heavy when it was all loaded up. I still have a custom hardcase (byTarcaseco) for my HD500x, and it's awesome, but also heavy.. It's carpeted wood, burly! I will keep my eyes out for a Tarcase Helix model :)

Just ordered the Mono case; they are back in stock with Sweetwater

Here's something to take your mind off waiting for Helix...reading people rant about waiting for their AX-8! :) "Please recognize that if you signed up after Oct 13th 2015 it will be well after the 2015 Holiday season when you receive your purchase invitation." http://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/i-guess-this-is-the-current-shipping-situation.107941/ http://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/any-day-now-ax8.1637249/page-35 http://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/ax8-waitlist-list-google-spreadsheet-add-your-name.105499/ http://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/excited-soon-is-here.107723/ http://forum.fractalaudio.com/threads/may-the-onslaught-begin-i-just-ordered-my-ax8.107697/ -
Also, is there a Global EQ or some other thing that is applied to the XLR outs but not the L6Link? I recall they added a Global EQ to the HD500, but it only worked on the XLR and 1/4" out, not the analog. Something might be set to boost your signal that isn't happening on the L6link connection. Another idea to test: With the L6Link connection in place, then connect the XLR OUTPUT from the L2t to the CLT input..

The Helix rack (and Helix rack floor controller) has an extra input called 'exp toe switch'.. I was asking that same question on this thread http://line6.com/support/topic/17166-mission-helix-expression-pedal/

Just stumbled across this! "The Helix Challenge" "Our goal with Helix was to accurately capture the sound and responsiveness of each amp and now we’re asking you to tell us how we did. For this challenge we have chosen a handful of the most elusive (and exciting) amp sounds to model and compare side-by-side to the original amp. You will be offered a total of five sound samples, and will be asked to choose which one you believe is the original amp. You can take the test as many times as you like, but the test is randomised, so you may get different samples each time. The guitar playing you’ll hear is identical; the guitar signal was split to both the amp and to Helix. If you want to see exactly how we recorded the samples, check out the video below. Good luck and have fun."

Sweet! Very, very cool :) I just searched Zzounds, to no avail. They do have a 'blemished' L2m for $644.95, which is tempting! http://www.zzounds.com/item--LINSTAGESOURCL2M -

I want to figure out how to use my HD500x as a controller for my Eleven Rack too! Are there presets that can store the appropriate MIDI commands, or are they too specific to the 11R patches? I have the Helix on preorder, but have no need to sell my HD500x, figured this is a good time to learn how to use it as a MIDI controller. As for using it with a JTV as well; I suppose you could send a 'dry' signal from the HD500 to the Eleven Rack. In theory, since the HD500 can listen to both the dry mag pickups AND the JTV modeled signal, you could do some interesting things with how you feed the Eleven Rack. But it's not ideal, because the HD500 would be an extra interface. However, since the Variax cable is sending digital to the HD500, it's not necesarily a hinderance to use the HD50 as the JTV front end. Certainly better than risking burning it out by using both the 1/4" and VDI outputs! Gives me some food for thought.. I sold my JTV a while back, but still have my eye on the Variax Standard if I can get one for a low enough price. I miss being able to process both the mags and the models independent from each other. You could output two mono dry signals to the Eleven Rack, maybe make use of left and right line inputs on the rear of the 11R, to feed dry magnetic and dry variax model. Not sure the 11R processing capability, but you could run a JTV acoustic model through the HD500 effects before it goes to the 11R, and also send the dry mags to the 11R as an electric guitar signal to be amp model processed by the 11R instead of the HD500..

Nice! Yeah, you are gonna be busy next week!! Can't wait to hear the reports. Getting more and more pysched as the days go by...
