  1. I tend to use my POD HD500 and DT25 (L6 Linked) in the manner you described above (outlined in red). Note: I found of course, that with no active preamp selected in the POD that the DT defaults to Channel B, but, you can manually switch to Channel A and still use the DT internal preamp(s) with your "pedal board POD" . To that end I purchased a foot switch for my DT to allow me to do this with feet instead of hand switching. In my case, I only use 2 Voicings on the DT, CH A Clean (Fender Twin) and CH B Crunch (Vox AC30), My tone stacks are set for each voicing independently on the DT Channels A&B and I don't change them much. But I will admit that certain venues do make me "tweak" the tone stacks from time to time. The way I gain stage the DT for gigging is .... 1) Master Volume up FULL 2) Clean Channel A ... has Tone Stack to taste, Channel Volume up FULL, then Drive set to deliver the volume I need for the venue. This keeps Channel A as clean as possible. 3) Grunge Channel B ... has Tone Stack set to taste, Drive up FULL (I like the most crunch for the AC30) and Channel Volume set to taste against whatever Volume I have Channel A set at. I usually set Channel B slightly louder than Channel A. 4) Channel A/B switching is done with a foot switch (or by hand if need be). 5) The POD remains for both, an 8 efx pedalboard (different patches, sans active preamp, provide different 8 x efx combinations) . I don't believe that this type of workflow is what most people here use, but it works for me. If you give this approach a try ..... let me know if it works or doesn't work for your needs? I would be curious.
  2. Ah good ... we grok each other ... this is a good beginning ....
  3. You participation here is greatly appreciated. Now .... I want to do some mods on my DT25 (tech humour) ...
  4. The Cabinet Simulated Direct Output on the rear of the DT-25 is a "microphone-level" sampling the output from the analogue circuitry just before it is fed to the speaker, to which a simulation of the speaker, cabinet and microphone defined in the POD HD preset have been applied. You may need to use the Pre-Amp input on your Pro 24 to bring the level from the DT25 up to where you need it? As BigChase52 said ... try both to see which works best.
  5. Regarding the dreaded "ice pick" ... FYI: I have been using the Weber Beam Blocker with great success to diffuse the laser .... (DT25 head / dual D112 cabs).
  6. Thanks I'll check them out ... I tend to use the Fender Twin clean and AC30 for crunch but always looking for alternatives. Haven't explored the SLO stuff much but many seem to like those models.
  7. Hey Zap ... curious ... what preamps do you use for your 4 clean & 4 crunch voicings?
  8. Dude ... Something is clearly wrong with that amp. I have a DT25 head and I've NEVER had the "popcorn machine". The "RealZap" is totally correct .... I'd also demand a new one. PS: Mine came in a Line 6 cardboard box with all the styrofoam trimmings inside for protection. Necessary for return shipping if required under warranty. Let us know what happens.
  9. Lawless33 .... give this a try and let us know what you think of the result, and which combination you prefer between the two. I'll let you know the way I prefer to do it after you've tried it for yourself.
  10. STOP IT you guys .... my wife reads this forum .... lol !~! For what I am doing I really don't need the second head although I know it would sound awesome ..... but then, I've bought a lot of s%$t I really don't need in the past so why would it stop me now .... !~!~!~ More of the problem (outside of the cost) is lugging that extra gear around. I ain't getting any younger. I wouldn't lug it all to practices anyways (as I can't leave it there), and we don't play that many gigs to justify it .... there .... I've talked myself out of it ... I think.
  11. Received the 2nd cab ... used at band practice last week .... totally worth it. Love the look of "the tower". I think my rig is now "complete".... well, I guess I could use a second head for stereo ..... stop .... stop ... stop .... (that's my wife speaking) .... honestly though, the 2nd cab is a very nice addition. Thanks to all who responded.
  12. YES (pun intended) that is awesome ... how is the 500 integrating into it for you?
  13. Hey EOengineer ... I have often wondered how an FRFR system compares to a traditional guitar amp in a gig setting? So far, the HD500 / DT25 / dbl cab + L6 Link works well for my needs. As you well know, we all hear different. I'll be curious to know how you make out in the end with this journey you are currently on and whether you end up switching back to a traditional amp or not? I think in my case, I am good to stay with my current set up but hopefully sometime I might get a chance to try out an FrFr system? At home, I always play through my desktop mixing monitors (Mackie 824 MKII).
  14. Sounds like (pun intended) you need ... "The Tone Tank" ....
  15. How about this for everyone ..... see attached. I also want to mention that I think the Class A Chime should be TRIODE not Pentode ?
  16. I remember the good old days when I just plugged into an amp ..... lol .... seriously though, that is a very nice set up you have and the custom board is very sweet. Thanks for the block diagram too. I find my HD500 L6 Link to my DT25 works perfectly for my needs. I have a custom hard case for the HD500 that came up used when the seller sold his HD500 and the buyer was tight on cash leaving him with an empty case .... now how lucky was that for me?
  17. Check your PM ... I have sent two pix of the 4 templates.
  18. Yup ... I am just about to order my 2nd Cab.

    Which Amp?

The portability of the little guy is a big plus .... I can barely lift my SV212 on to the tailgate of my truck let alone a DT50 combo. Yet the DT25 head/cab is easy peezy. A nice manageable package. I am about to get a 2nd DT25-112 Cab just to look even cooler. Our drummer is pretty darn loud and I can even beat him up with the DT25 so for my needs it is pretty much perfect. I think you will like your DT25 (Teejayh).

    Which Amp?

They are basically the same amp, same preamp models, etc., EXCEPT the DT50 is more than "one louder" as Nigel Tufnel would say. For me, the DT25 is more than enough but everybody's needs are different. The nice thing about the DT25 is that you can "push it" without destroying everybody's tympanic membranes ..... if you catch my drift? Both excellent amps. I also like the smaller portability of the DT25 head/cab. I like the sound of the cab over the open back combo .... plus, and this is very important, .... the head/cab just looks waaaay cooler !~! Just my $.02 for what it's worth. Others will respond no doubt.

    Rms?

    Quite simple really ....
  22. Steve, was the second cab a significant improvement in your opinion? I think it is a no brainer for me.
  23. Wondering for those who have experience with 2, if stacking two DT25 Cabs is stable enough ?? I have a DT25 Head/Cab and am considering a 2nd Cab. Just wondering if the vertical approach would work ??? I like having the head up at arms reach which would be perfect if sitting on top of two cabs stacked. Last thing I would want is for that pillar to topple.
  24. Steve Gordon .... yah, I am thinking like you. I think a 2nd D112 is in my future for sure. I have also thought about a 2nd DT25/Cab rig for the stereo attributes and dual tones but I don't want to lug another rig around plus the added cost. The 2nd D112 is doable without too much pain (both back and financial). MrIbanezMetal ... interesting about the combo plus cab ... I can see the flexibility of open back plus closed cab in combination. Nice. ChristophK ... Do try the Beam Blockers, they made a positive differential for me and erased the ice pick laser. Thanks for the feedback (no pun intended).
