Pod Hd300 ; Cubase Elements 6 Wont Catch Up Sound
gunpointmetal replied to frozenblizzard5's topic in POD HD
Instead of MIDI, look in Audio Device set-up. If you have all of your drivers installed and you're connected via USB, you should be able to select the POD from a menu to use as your audio device. -
how are things connected? I think with that amp you pretty much have to plug right into the guitar input, so if you're gonna use the amp modeling on the POD set your clean channel EQ as flat as you can get it (by flat I mean no scoop/boost in any EQ area), dime the master volume on the POD, and use the clean channel level on the amp to raise or lower volume. Make sure you have the output mode set to combo amp input! good luck!

They have two different user bases. People who are looking for a budget modeler are not looking to spend $1500 on two (of the smaller) PA speakers. Most people running PODS (that I have actually witnessed) either run into the FX return of a tube head, a small SS power amp/cab, or they go straight in with various monitor applications. I run into a Crate Powerblock with a 4x12, but if I had the $1500 to spend on amplification, it would probably go into something like an Axe FX/Kemper and still play through my guitar speakers. If your patches sound like crap through a guitar amp, that's your fault and getting more gear isn't gonna instantly make you sound good. Not understand 4CM doesn't mean you should spend over a grand on PA speakers. Having stuff that connects with one XLR doesn't automatically mean you won't sound like sh!t. People who think this way cycle through gear and never stick with anything, cause they think they're supposed to just sound good cause someone else does with the same stuff. I'm not even that upset about it, I just don't understand the defense for this basically useless (for MOST people) update....they coulda held off and offered this stuff with other useful items. I guess it makes to be swimming in fanboys around here.
-
so we found one person with the whole rig...maybe there's like five more of you on here....I get it, its useful...useful to a majority, not even close.
-
I'm sorry, I thought I was talking about customer service and support, not the best way to make money. Its like you guys work for them or something.... "Well, its better for me if they sell everything and put out a new item every year instead of keeping up with old stuff, cause that way they make more money and I can keep buying new lollipop that's just a little different than last years." huh?
-
you're right, that is the middle of the bell curve, and those are the guys who trade up for the newest, coolest, cheapest, whatever. most guitar players I know are like that..tone chasers that don't stick to anything....the people who ask for stuff are the people who want to keep using a product or feel some brand loyalty, that's why they're asking...if there are million people who are "ok" with it but will buy anything that's close or new and 100,000 that will stick with a brand because they keep them interested, I think that's a good enough reason to keep up with it.

Thousands of posts does not an authority make. I'm not basing my considerations off of my own desires. Look at fvckin IdeaScale, look at the gazillions of other guitarists forums where they talk about Line 6 and HD-series stuff. Nobody is happy about it except the people who have ALL of the gear...which, from what I can tell, is a very small portion of Line 6's users...like I said before, I gig all the time with tons of different bands and I have yet to see a stagesource speaker, and now that I think of it, even a DT amp anywhere but in magazines and the internet...lots of different PODs, but NONE of that other stuff. If the company doesn't want to think about what we want, why ask us? Why create IdeaScale?
-
I'm not saying its not a useful product...but why spend the time integrating such disparate pieces of equipment when MORE of your users would RATHER see the individual products work better at their primary job (StageSource stuff should be updated for best PA performance long before integrating budget modeling, just as the HD series should be updated to be the best modeler it can be, instead of interfacing with a high-priced PA speaker). It is meant to be more than a POD amp, but its also designed to be just that.....I love my Line 6 stuff, but I think they're either spreading themselves too thin, or just not giving a sh1t.
-
I agree the StageSource stuff is cool, so are the DT-series amps, Variax guitars (although limited to six-string players), and G-series wireless stuff.....but as said before, what sense does it make to produce "budget" level modeling gear that gets connected to high-priced tube amps (with suspect cabinet construction) or very high-priced full-range PA speakers? Or a $2500 mixer? I mean c'mon! At least they could come up with something unique and affordable (anybody remember that stereo full-range 4x12 sized powered cab Jet City was working on?) to fall in the middle ground. I have a hard time believing people who want to/can only spend $300-$700 on a modeler are going to spend $2500 on speakers for a stereo rig......They need to look at each product individually, as well as how they work together. Most people I know who play Line 6 do it because its the best "for the money", which means its whats affordable. Why price yourself right out of the market with your other stuff. I've been gigging 1-4 a month since the HD series was release and I have yet to see a single StageSource speaker or mixer.....anywhere. I asked a guy a GC why they don't stock them in the store and his response was "People who want to spend that kind of money will just order them. We had a set with a sub in here and it never even got turned on."....hmmmm...probably because it costs way too fvcking much.

So......from inc.com: 2010 STATISTICS Rank:4707 3-year growth:12% 2009 Revenue:$80.6 million 2006 Revenue:$71.8 million Web site:line6.com Employees:264 Founded:2000 Location:Calabasas, CA Industry:Consumer Products & Services So you guys think they can't be bothered to put resources into maintaining a current product line while developing a new one? That's a lot of money to bring in (four years ago) to only have resources to work on future product lines.....I'm sure there are a few dollars that could be allocated to fixing the EQ's or developing SELLABLE model packs. They can, but they're slowly turning into Roland/Boss with the modeling ...."Here ya go! See ya when we want another $500-$700!"
-
That's why you keep updating your products you already have out until the new one is ready...this isn't some dude in his bedroom programming all night.....they should be able to work on new things and keep the current line-up fresh. then when the new one is ready, say so.
-
expensive apples and cheap apples, dude.....just cause Fractal only does one thing, doesn't give L6 an excuse to slack off. To me, these firmware updates are akin to service packs for an operating system...yeah, you don't get a whole new OS for free (sometimes), but you do get continual updates until either the hardware can't go any further, or the OS is completely obsolete....so unless they are coming out with a whole new series in the next month or so, they should probably see what people are asking from the current product and provide it. And, if they are coming out with something new, say so! You don't have to say a whole bunch, but at least say "Hey everybody, we put all of our effort into a new modeling series, so there won't be any more big updates for the HD series other than bug fixes." How lollipoping hard is that?
-
Line 6 has a lot more resources than Fractal, I would imagine.....also, Line 6 has made a conscious choice to focus outside their bread and butter and if they continue, they'll be a much smaller company selling boutique PA equipment to rich kids, venues, and touring bands....They could at least make a FRFR amplification option that is on par price-wise with the HD stuff....I don't understand the thought process that people are going to a get a "budget" modeler and then spend 3-4 times as much on amplification. If I had the money to buy StageSource stuff, I'd probably go with QSC anyways, as have A LOT of other people. I'm glad they fixed a two year old problem for some of you......finally. Maybe someday they'll actually look at IdeaScale.
-
This is a waste of a firmware update....do real people even still work for Line 6? Do they know about IdeaScale (hahahaha, right?)? You have 75% of your vocal users looking for EQ updates and new amps, and we get better functionality with over-priced Full Range PA speakers.......awesome.
-
My HD500 did that to me ONE TIME in the years I've had it at practice...and I know it wasn't because I did something and forgot to turn it off. I hadn't even used the looper since powering the device on at rehearsal and all of the sudden in between songs, probably a minute or two since we stopped playing, I get this big burst of "KACHUNG! KACHUNG KACHUNG!" like the last half-second of a mute on repeat....switched the looper, hit stop, and it never happened again.

Power Amp And Cab Live - Are You Using Pre Or Full Models?
gunpointmetal replied to NinoScholz's topic in POD HD
HD 500->Crate PowerBlock->4x12 Grundorf Cabenstein here.... It really depends on the tone I'm after. Most of my clean tones have full models, while my rhythm distortion is a pre-only model, and for leads I also use a full model...I basically think of the power amp modeling as more EQ in this set-up so I use it if I need it. -
IdeaScale seems totally useless at this point...its a microcosm of this microcosm here, and if people think Line 6 doesn't need to listen to the people who post here cause we're a minority, why would they feel the need to do anything with IdeaScale...probably just something that looks nice to keep a handful of people from bombarding them with update suggestions constantly, so they can continue ignore them with out hurting anyone's feelings. Somebody should be on here, communicating with us..because we're the people who found the problems, but want to make these products work. The "everybody else" that keeps getting mentioned as not active forum members who don't have any problems that people are using as a reason for Line 6 to not have to pay attention are people who get frustrated with a product and resell it, or shelve it, or use to half of its capability...the people who come on here and make a stink about features, who want things to work in a way that make sense, are the people who are actually USING THE PRODUCT! This fanboyism and everybody getting all butthurt cause someone doesn't like something about the product is probably why nobody works on anything!
-
probably thirds in the minor key of whatever note the song starts on
-
I don't know if you guys remember....but the RP modeling wasn't that far behind the current HD series, and it was quite a bit better than the X3/XT modeling...I can't believe if the whole EQ deal was a "get this done today" thing that they wouldn't have fixed it in firmware...the firmware updates we have had, with the exception of getting the original "eletrik" model back have barely even been about what users ask for, its whatever they feel like...I would have rather had normal EQs than adjustable Z, or a "vintage mic pre" that clips when ANYTHING goes into it...maybe I'm just sick of my POD and need something new...maybe L6 could do one or two things to make a whole fvckload of people happy....
-
I get it, you love Line 6 like its a family member or something...this is company that provides services and products to users who pay them money, so if they want to keep receiving money from people, they should probably start listening to them.....what a crazy idea...also, what does DSP have to do with USB signal routing, and how hard would it have been to implement a software version that corresponds with the hardware for recording to restrict on-device usage and provide the same functionality...they put a lot of time and money into developing the modeling and crapped on everything else that wasn't already part of the M-series....
-
I don't see why it wouldn't be a good idea to have one or two people whose full-time job it is to respond to inquiries on the forums...THIS IS WHERE THE DEDICATED USERS ARE! Listen to the people who buy your products, listen to what they want to see, listen to how they use their stuff....if they would implement a third of what's suggested on here they would probably sell a lot more units...I mean, its been mentioned, but they basically gutted all the cool recording I/O from previous models for no apparent reason for the next gen stuff? why does that make sense? Who did they talk to to decide this stuff? My guess is no-one.
-
I haven't quite understood that either...these line 6 employees who ghost post on other forums, but won't even come in here to say that "hey, we're working on a new firmware update, but we're having trouble getting all the info to fit." or just tell us there aren't gonna be any more updates so we can all stop wondering if that magical thing we want will ever show up and find a way around the problem. I've e-mail support directly to try and gather some information because no-one who can say anything ever does and they do the same thing..."We can't discuss unreleased features or equipment." .......get over yourselves L6, you're not the CIA, and telling users that there is or isn't a firmware update coming is not gonna wreck your business model..in fact, a lot of users would have a little more respect for the company with communication like that.... TL;DR-Hey Line 6, get you $hit together, keep your users in the loop (since without them you don't exist), fix your fvckin' EQs, and participate in your user forums a little bit......"Experts" who pop in to tell us they can't say anything about anything are not helpful.
-
yeah....I don't know who you hang out with, but musicians I know talk about EQ and tone in regards to specific frequency...when a guitarist asks me what I'm doing to EQ my sound I don't want to say "Well, I set the low EQ to 20%, set the mids to 60%, set the lowpass at 80%, and there ya go!" See how stupid that sounds? I agree with the "shouldn't call it PRO with those EQs" statement...nothing pro about EQs that read like they were designed to go on some cheap a$$ piece of Best Buy toy musical equipment. If Digitech comes out with a board without the ridiculous patch change latency and as-good amp modeling, I'd consider it seriously! Also, a hardware ReValver floor board would be kick a$$!
-
Digitech has already come out with SOME new processors, but they are more like updates to the RP series.... I get it, EQ functionality is not critical to the device being useful, but to me its like if Microsoft release Word and in the English language version all the menus are in Japanese...sure you can figure it out, maybe even make it convenient after some work, but it should have been in the proper language to begin with....having EQ's in % is stupid, and also poorly thought out (as in not thought out at all) and if I were a developer on this project I would feel like an lollipop for letting that get by into final production... seriously, we can't even use the word a$$? You gotta be lollipoping lollipopting me out a lollipop!
