Still not finding a good overdrive pedal that doesn't get fuzzy. Looking for a U2 rock-like tone. Thoughts?
  2. Still waiting for a "modulate" reverb like the Boss RV-5 has and is so super popular right now it's a wonder why it hasn't come yet. (hint, hint, L6).
  3. Thank you, that makes perfect sense! Now couldn't it be possible to pan between them somehow so as to only hear one at a time?
  4. Thanks, Brue58ski, but Meambobbo's HD guide doesn't really address interfacing with the DT-25, and none of the advice really answered the question of why my BFx2 VIB clean amp goes from warm and vibrant to boxy and sterile the moment I enable dual amps, BEFORE the second amp is even selected. :P
  5. OK, Soldano sounds promising, thanks! Any particular EQ or other settings you use for it? Particularly looking for warmth. :)
  6. OK, I'm new to using dual amps in the HD500 with a single DT-25. When I enable two amps, the tone of the first amp DRASTICALLY changes, even if I haven't even selected another amp yet (the bottom amp is darkened and reads "disabled"). What happened to my sweet tone?
  7. Thanks, I was being facetious, I could tell you care ;) . Fingers crossed, I guess, but so far so good.
  8. I LOVE the Blackface Double Vibrato clean tone - warm yet with clarity! But its overdrive is farty, loose, and unpleasant (much prefer a crunch, tight AC30-like overdrive). Anyone experimented with comparing the BFx2 NRM vs VIB models? I think the VIB model is brighter, but the manual's description says it has "clipping characteristics that are different than the Normal channel due to an additional 12AX7 tube stage"... perhaps this causes the farty overdrive I'm experiencing?
  9. True, but when I try Dual Amp Mode, I feel I lose the best qualities of both , particularly the warmth of the clean tone. I'm new to dual amps, and I'm going into one DT-25 amp, so it's confusing how to setup two amps correctly with it. I might be missing something. Also, I lose a lot of DSP using two amps, which makes that solution prohibitive. Then again, if I can fine a way to get the amp to replicate that warm clean tone on its own (channel "B"?), maybe I could use dual amp mode with the AC30 on one side and the "disabled" model on the other, then just pan between them... So... anyone have DT-25 warm, clean tone advice?
  10. Uuuuuuupdate! So I sent it in to a local guy who replaced the tubes with JJ's (sorry, psarkissian, don't hate me) and somehow did not encounter the runaway bias drift I had. Perhaps I was shorting something out with my cheap voltmeter? Perhaps cleaning out the tube jacks really IS a big deal (I didn't try)? All I know is that was an expensive NON-problem to fix :P. JJ's working great so far.
  11. Hi friends! I've got an HD500 running into one DT25 combo amp. Recently fell in love with the BF-Double VIB(Fender twin reverb). Rich, warm clean tone yet with clarity, especially through the DT-25 amp! However, its overdrive is farty and bloated (name that quote)! I haven't found a setting or overdrive pedal to fix this. I've always loved the AC30 overdrive - tight, warm, not farty or fuzzy, but the clean is a bit... sterile. I want the warm clean of the BFx2 but the tight crunchy overdrive of the AC30! I considered using a dual amp mode, but it's confusing which amp is controlling the actual DT25 wiring, and I felt I just got the worst of both worlds. My warm, clean tone from the BFx2 was gone. I welcome any advice for improvements, whether they be the perfect adjustments to the BF-Double to fix the farty overdrive, advice for dual amps with one DT-25, the perfect overdrive pedal (with settings), an alternative to the BFx2 model, or even ditching the HD500 amp models with the perfect DT-25 settings, etc... Thanks!!! Extra notes: For an overdrive, I hate it when notes seem to fight each other and it gets all buzz-sawey or farty / indistinct. Looking for more of a Brit crunch, perhaps some U2 like tone (who also uses an AC30). My Rig: Fender Strat American Deluxe (with a Tele bridge pickup) HD500 DT-25 Amp
  12. Hey friends! I've restarted that epic quest for the right tone. Previously I had loved the AC30, particularly for its wonderful overdrive (I'd use a boost/compressor for juice, no overdrive pedal needed), but its clean tone was not warm enough. So I experimented and fell in love with the BF-Double VIB(Fender twin reverb). Rich, warm tone yet with clarity, especially through the DT-25 amp! However, its overdrive is farty and bloated (name that quote). I started experimenting with overdrive pedals but nothing compares to the AC30's natural drive tone. Anyone have any suggestions? Alternative amp models with a warm, full clean and a warm but tight, crunchy overdrive? Distortion pedals that actually sound good (not fuzzy or farty)? Extra notes: For an overdrive, I hate it when notes seem to fight each other and it gets all buzz-sawey or farty / indistinct. 13. Update: So apparently my old EH tubes were not blown, and when i put them back in the same wonky stuff was happening, so something else was going on. Line 6 says there's no safety feature to kick it into quiet mode if the tubes get too hot, so i guess i gotta send it in :(.
  14. I hear ya, but it was with EH's installed by Line-6 themselves that this problem first occurred. Not to mention this is the second time I've had an issue with the amp (and its tubes) and had to send it in to Line-6. Not a sterling performance record on the EH's, so I think you can see my incredulity of the "reliability" of them, even as I get what you're saying about how the amp is spec'd. The burning smell... I don't think it smelled especially metallic or or plastic. Thoughts?
  15. Thank you, psarkissian, although the EH's were in the amp when the problem first occurred. Was it a blown tube that cause the slight burning smell and the sudden drop in volume? Also, and I know this is not the kind of question you were looking to elicit from you comments, but I'm curious what level bias you think JJ's should have. Cooler? Thanks,
  16. EL-84's and a 12ax7. Originals when it began were installed by line6 -EH's. New ones are jj's.
  17. Recently while playing my amp suddenly dropped volume drastically. I smelled a slight burning smell. These were tubes installed by Line6 (I sent the amp in last year for another problem). I figured it was the tubes, so I replaced them, but when I went to bias them, the weirdest thing happened. It was real low (7-9mA), but when I raised it, it rose out of control to 40-50mA, then suddenly shot down again. Happened every time I tried turning it up even slightly - I couldn't get it past 14mA before it would repeat the cycle. Thoughts? (please leave out replies of "send it in")
  18. Problem: While playing recently, my DT-25 suddenly dropped volume significantly and had a slight burning smell. I figured it was a tube(s) going out, so I bought some new ones and replaced them, but when I went to bias them, they were super low! Instead of the 25 (+/-3), they were around 7-8. I turned the bias, but then the weirdest thing happened - any turn up would start an unstoppable climb to 40-50, then it would suddenly kick down to 14 or less. It would stay that way until I turned the bias up again, and then the same thing every time. I checked the fuse, but it seems intact. Since power was going to the tubes, I figure it can't be that anyway. I may be wrong, but I suspected it may be kicking into Low-Volume mode as a safety feature. Any idea what's going on? How do I fix this?

Any luck getting your DT fixed?
