  1. There are parts out there, they are just hung up in transit.
  2. Have the whole set-up checked by an authorized service tech. It may be action, relief or something else. Register your guitar in your Line 6 account and then log a Support ticket for options. I got your Friday message.
  3. The XPS wedge or soap bar are usable for all Variax guitars and Bass guitars.
  4. Always check that the amp output matches the speaker load. From your Facebook posting, looks like you are okay this time.
  5. What brue58ski said. It's know as 'dual tone effect',.... hearing the standard tuned strings against the Alt Tunes sound from the speakers.
  6. Original Workbench,... no, it only goes to 10.8 Mountain Lion. Workbench HD will. But original Variax won't connect to Workbench HD. There hasn't been a firmware update for original Variax in quite some time.
  7. Our stuff is in the pipeline, but running a bit late. They keep pushing back our ETA on stuff. Waiting for parts and product like everyone else. With lock downs in China easing up, it's now a matter of catch up. No work slow downs with the trucking people, though we had a close call with the rail service recently. Everyone is almost caught up from that Ever Given bottleneck in the Suez canal. Almost caught. Almost had another one there last month. Close call. Fortunately CoVid didn't eat my homework. We've all been here in repair since post lock-down May 2020. Don't know what's up with the service center in Austin. Maybe their people catching a bug, maybe weather... winding down from hurricane and tornado season soon. Not a problem shippers. No open orders from them for parts. Questions, but no answers,... debating in a vacuum, as the saying goes. I'll try to keep everyone updated as I can.
  8. guitar -> Line 6 VDI/USB interface device -> USB on computer
  9. Hmmm,... they haven't put in an order for a pot or intonation screw.
  10. Not a matter of L6 getting its s*** together, as much as it is the logistical nightmare CoVid inflicted on all of us. And world politics aren't helping any either. I'm looking into it.
  11. Guitars won't connect to Updater. Firmware and Workbench HD show Win 11 compatible, but not for Monkey, it only goes to Win 10. Try finding a Windows 10 computer for that part of the process.
  12. Unplug the USB hub when connecting to guitars.
  13. Just trying to keep everyone's gear off of my repair bench. These were not designed to handle mods.
  14. Don't recall any of the early ones,... hmmm. Interesting. Both of my early ones are around 8 and 9 pounds, one from late 2010, the other mid 2011. Used to crew for a notable rock band in the mid to late 1970's, and the guitar player had a '53 or '57 Led Paul. They were rather heavy, I got used to that, so I love heavier 59's. :) Have an early 2019 Cherry Sun on the bench right now, feels like a 7.8 to 8.2 pounder. Good feel to it, plays good.
  15. They are typically no more than 8 lbs, 9 tops. Never seen one 11 lbs.
  16. Not as simple as tube swap and bias. Has to be the correct tube and bias, there are tests to run to check the different gain topologies (I,II, III, IV). These are not all analog tube amps. Digital side and analog side have to talk nice to each other or things go wrong. Take it to the authorized service center.
  17. There are no published schematics, too much proprietary stuff in them. There are pick-up wiring diagrams in the Knowledge for that. No other need for schematics beyond that for the UI assembly.
  18. Would have to run the magnetic pick-up on a separate line from the Variax electronics. And have to steer clear of Variax cabling when routing out the pocket for the magnetic pick-up. Would have to be a luthier in your area with experience with our product. Magnetic field pulling on strings can cause warbling in the sound when in model mode, so pick-up height adjust has to be spot on. Mod to our product would be an unsupported modification. So if something goes wrong and is sent to to us, chances are we would have to sent it back untouched.
  19. Encoders have the same number of positions on all of the JTV, Standard and Shuriken Variax guitars. Models are the same, though the Shuriken comes half regular models and half Stevic McKay artist models, and one can re-Flash to default models, then back to artist models as one likes,... only with the Shuriken. Alt Tune on the 89/89F and Shuriken are different than the others. "R-Billy" is the rock-a-billy slot on JTV's, part of the regular selection that comes with it.
  20. There is an application I hear about to allow earlier version OS to ride on top of current OS for such purposes. Original Workbench is supported up to and including 10.8 Mountain Lion.
  21. You're welcome, it's what I'm here for. (thumbs up emoji)
  22. Yes, Stevic likes the longer scale length. But then, he is over 6ft tall. Factory strings are D'Addario XL-110, 10-46 gauge. Stevic uses D'Addario NYXL 11's. Do not go higher than 11-sets.
  23. The official bridge resets are done by me. Register the guitar in your account, then log a Support Ticket.
