You are so wellcome. Glad it can be of use to someone else but myself. //Per

Hi @MusicLAw, thanks. I have several sources of information and have to sort/filter it down to one list. My key is the Line6 name, and I can’t believe how many misspellings there are, even in the Line6 document… e.g. Ratatoullie, Pattrn etc, hard to know if it’s intentional or not, but it becomes the reference, learn from that ;-). Long story short, I got one name left, the Fanny Pack, and after checking it in my LT I understood that I got a glimpse into next version :-). Wonder what else they had to leave out to release 3.50…? And you are correct, I should have reported the findings to Line 6, to focus on Excel... Glad you did, thanks. Hopefully they don’t update the manual, prefer they update the firmware :-) I also saw your post on TGP, that was encouraging, sir. //Per

Made the update to 3.50 last weekend. A really great update, very impressed. First thought was – Who stole my blanket…? Was a bit scared when I read the Helix forums on Line6.com and TGP, but finished the update without any problems, start to finish 25 minutes. Thanks Line6. So, time to update the Cheat Sheet… Some of you have already seen and used my Cheat Sheet in pdf and also know that I promised to move this to Excel… well this last update added some new challenge to this (new structure, more than one item with the same name etc.), so I’ll do some more work on that later. This last update, amazing as it is, adds some complexity so I decided to make a few changes. Made the printout in landscape as the font size became so small, I couldn’t read it. As landscape opened up space to add info that could be relevant. DSP was mentioned earlier so that is in. Ben Vesco’s site has been a great source to do this. Also added changes from last version in a more detailed way. If it’s a new amp/effect added (N), if it’s an update from last version (!) and if it’s a legacy (L). Also found a bass amp cab that was in Edit Pilot Guide but not in the firmware… Added the documentation of new/default amp-cab-mic combinations but skipped the old ones as when building presets now will probably be based on the new cab’s/mic’s. But all info on previous cabs, mic’s and effects are there to use. As before, all items appear in the same order as on the Helix unit itself. Not – There is info I don’t have at this point. It’s marked with “tba” and will be updated when available. From the beginning the purpose of this document was to have a short handy printout with a selection of info of interest in the guitar bag. Well, the last updates have made hardcopy less interesting. To many pages and to many lines… now 11 pages and 450+ lines/items. Today extended searchable info in condensed pdf-format is the quick way to find info without going through manual and additional info. Feel free to use it if it’s of any help. Open for feedback/suggestions to make it better. //Per Edit: I can’t delete the old files on the forum and the map is full… Download link via my Dropbox - https://www.dropbox.com/s/iavpjym4mxvr9s2/Line6%20Helix-Model%20Summary%2C%203.50c.pdf?dl=0

Just like Codamedia says and add a link to a thread that Master himself has written and I have used so many times :-) - The interface and cables you need looks like these - //Per

This might be a starting point to understand how to approuch this in Helix, between presets/snapshots and to foh/mixer

Check your Global setting > Footswitches > Stomp select, it should be set to Touch. Link fo the manual in datacommand's post above /Per

Hi MusicLaw, thanks for the reply Yes, agree, it's more handy. Most likly I will produce both. Have alredy moved that printformat to be part of the excel version, then I can export the pdf at the same time and have one Excel to update. //Per

Hi joeplaysguitar2, thanks for the replay and good feedback. He he, you hit some of the parts that is still “under investigation”… except for typos, those just happened :-). Clicking on links under “Content” – This is an Excel behavior and at this moment I do not have a solution for this. I have set a “flag” that was supposed to scroll to the next headline. It do this different if you search from top down or if you are further down and click on a link scrolling up (then it stop correct). I will look into that, it’s annoying, agree. I guess I will have to do a VB hack on this. Content in pdf-version – Another technical issue in Excel (the pdf document is an extract from a Excel sheet). Excel allow external links/links to other sites. It does not support internal links/links to internal references in the pdf document. There is a solution with a third-party application, I will check on that and see if it’s doable. What I could do is just a content with page references, no clickable links. Alphabetic order – That was a decision I took early. I let the sort order be “in order of appearance on the Helix”. Sitting with Hx Edit and looking at eg the amps it was easier to find the correct one as the sort order was the same. Also, when looking up the generic name in the pdf it was easier to relate where the L6-name were located in Hx Edit. That’s the reason. In the Excel version I guess it could be possible to change that… I check it. To find things quick, that is what the search box is for (use the search box or “Ctrl+F and type L6 name or vendor name, whole name or part)… As I wrote before, reason that I made the Excel-version, it was hard to manage the growing content in the pdf format. From the start there was 4 pages with gear. With smaller fonts there is 6 pages today. Next update will make it unreadable :-) I have a new version “on the move”. It contains a reset button per group in addition to the main reset and some small fixes. It also includes the printable version of the pdf-format. Will see if It’s possible to find a combo and a more scalable formatting. //Per

Hi davegoodfellow, and thanks for the reply. Just of curiosity, did you use the pdf-version I posted June 30 or the MS Excel version posted July 27? If you use the Excel version I would appreciate feedback, good/bad/suggestions, as I’m finishing up next version. //Per

Hi You are most likely more experience than me on this but here is how I do it On Clean I often use the LA Studio as a boost and/or “characterizer” … Its fairly simple to use and give great flexibility. Peak Reduction – Set when compression start to set in and the amount of compression. I start at abt 5 and try to get a feel for it. Default is abt 7.5 and I think that’s a to high startingpoint Gain – “Unity” is about 4.2 (meaning that if Level is at 0 db and Peak Reduction is at about 5 you do not hear a shift in sound turning on/off) and its from there I start. Default is higher and for me to much as starting point. Level – Set your level… I start at 0 db and compensate depending what I’m after and depending on how Peak Reduction/Gain is set. The rest, I normally don’t touch. The Gain is nice as it warms the sound a bit, so if you need/want to increase/decrease output level use the Level. Same thing with Threshold, adjust to taste and compensate with Level and/or Gain. If you want to have different adjustments of your boost in the preset, program a footswitch or snapshot. Remember that adding boost before the amp can make the amp itself start compressing, different to different amps. If I use boost on amps with more gain/breakup/dist I might use above, but more likely a boost/od/dist pedal depending on what I want. Or using an EQ/output block in the end of the signal chain. If I use a compressor here is's more for character and sustain. Here is some info I used to get hang on this subject, both compression and how to handle boost https://line6.com/support/topic/23488-compressors-explained/#comment-178763 – Thread from 2016 that straighten a few thin up for me. Very good summer from HonestOpinion and description of LA Studio a bit down in the thread. Jason Sadites has made a few videos in the subject - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqJ-ISLhk9c&ab_channel=JasonSadites and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMu8qmQDgF4&ab_channel=JasonSadites. There is also one video where he go through LA Studio Comp to be used as I described above. As an alternative to LA Studio Comp I have started to dig in to Ampeg Opto Comp with some success. That could be an alternative. I may also admit that with the other compressors I have had a bit of a struggle. Found some presets with Deluxe Comp from which I have stolen the settings… Most often the compression is set too high, like 10:1. I start at 2:1 and I rarely go above 4:1… Tube Comp and Red Squeeze has been OK too in som cases. But I guess Ampeg Opto Comp will be my go-to compressor for now and LA Studio will still sit in the end of my signal chain. I should add that I’m in the blues/rock territory, it doesn’t need to be that complicated :-) Hope it may add something to your question… EDIT: Found the yt video from Jason Sadites abt using LA Studio Comp as a boost - https://youtu.be/Q7uNgu7K14Y. Very similar to how I us it but for me personal I don’t use the high values of compression. I dial in Gain and Level to a nice boost/drive and add comp for some sustain. Trim Level if needed. //Per

Start by uninstalling exsisting intallation and reboot. During installation of HX Edit, do not uncheck any options. Run all by default/just by click next.

Hi So back from fishing and bin working on my tool. So here we go... A bit late but was running into an error message I couldn't kill at first, now it's fixed (I hope). To make this short - It's the former "Cheat Sheet/Helix Modell Summery" I made in pdf format and is now transferred into a more functional MS Excel-version. In the Excel file there is a more detailed read me tab, that’s the long story... (incl a quick start and description of known limitation). You need a not to old version of standard MS Excel package or Office 365 installed on your PC (i think Mac will work too). You have to enable micros on your computer, there is some VBA involved. Google Docs and OneDrive Office apps do not work. I will check how much work there is to transfer this to other platforms. Google Docks will probably need rewriting and MS OneDrive Apps did not like VBA... I'll be back on this (feel free to suggest spread sheet platform of your choice). Feel free to try. Appreciate comments and suggestions. Link to file via my Dropbox - https://www.dropbox.com/s/240nqn1xs4nirqi/Line6 Helix-Model and DSP Summary%2C P3%2C15-06.xlsm?dl=0 //Per

Hi lou-kash You are absolutly right, db is much better to do this. But, I'm better in programing Excel :-). And I used some new features that I hadn't tested before, so I challanged my Excel skills. And, in the end I would probably run into the same problem, distribution and a intuitive user interface. When I started this Cheat Sheet the goal was to have a print out with the most impotant info in an easy to read format. Today I do the same but use the electonic version. So, for me Excel is not a big step, but understand this is a challange for many. That's why I ask the question... //Per

Thanks so much for your feedback. I clean the Excel version up and publish it here when done. I'm gone fishing this week but be back next... :-) Some notes - - The pdf is an export from Excel already today. The updates is made and formated in Excel and exported to pdf. A very hands on interface. The base in the new version is "just" a new formating of the data to be presented on screen and added functions (don with micros and VB scripts) to be simple to use, I hope... - In the new version it's possible to print the base data as today. Will see if I can make this better. Challange to have a dynamic page layout is that headlines are different in different sections and the tables will reach over multiple pages. Have no solution to make it more dynamic at this point, other then manuaI formating. Anorher problem in dynamic formating is font size and readability, to small make it useless. A problem already today... Don't think makeing the pdf formated in landscape is doable, will be to many pages, but I check. - Micros and fansy scripts - I'm afraid that this has to be included to make this user oriented. This also made me chose platform as there is no/poor compability in between (micros/script). I have used Excel for the last 20 years so it made the choice easy... But there is always pdf ;-] Fix this next week... /Per

Thanks so much for your response… I’m glad it can be of any help :-) It also reminds me that I corrected a few things – some new labels were misplaced, spelling etc. So, attach a better version with hopefully more accurate data… https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ub7u4wcnvtp0nw/Line6 Helix-Model Summary%2C P3%2C15-05x.pdf?dl=0 As we already speaking about this pdf… This format will be hard to maintain in the long run with all good new stuff coming in 3.20 and probably not end there. It outgrows the pdf-format and I start to think of moving it into MS Excel (it’s already there but I have more stuff in there that is not exposed today and would clutter up the pdf so much it would be hard to read it). My straight questions without make this to a long story is - I have an MS Excel version running a bunch of micros/VB scrips presenting, all info there is today and also adds DSP per selected amp’s/effect’s per path, has fail control if you end outside design limits (eg DSP limit per path, more than two amps in an path etc.), can clear a config, can name and store a config, different way to search amps and effects, can print a similar printout as today etc. Is it perfect? No, but maybe it can be… :-). But - Is this format of interest at all? Or, is the pdf preferred as is today. Have tried it on MS Excel 365, MS Excel for OneDrive and Google Sheets. Best outcome was MS Excel 365. MS Excel on OneDrive has a few limitation (can’t get VB scrips to run) so some functionality will be lost (eg to clear multiple entries). Google Sheets does not work as is today. So, my main path now is to use MS Excel 365 and local installation/office as platform. Will you see this as a major disadvantage/not usable? If I clean this up, any interest to test it (running on Windows, not tested on Mac)? If there is interest for it, I publish a working beta on this forum. The MS Excel version vill be published as free as the pdf-version. As a sneak peak I add a screen shot (jpg-file) of the interface… no need to be gentle on the feedback :-) - https://www.dropbox.com/s/vl5ze5r8qoqich3/L6 Helix-Models and DSP Summary-P3-3.15-02.jpg?dl=0 Take care... //Per

Well, if you update Hx Edit and Firmware to v3.15 you have Win11 support. At least that's what stated in releas notes /Per

Oh, that’s a sad story … Have a PC+ 112 too, have not had the problem you describe. Haven’t even heard of that problem before. Heard of short comes in software, cab sim's not as expected and some hardware coming loose inside (like this one, missing some mounting screws for the boards in the back of the cab… But not a broken cabinet. What in the cabinet is broken/loose and make it not possible to repair? I guess it's not as in the thread above, a loose PC-board inside, the Line6 reapire shop whould have nailed that... I mean, it’s a wood cabinet and a not that complicated construction, I think (have only seen pictures of the inside, but I have been building speaker cab’s before, not with bent corners though :-). If something is loos or there is a crack somewhere, it should be possible to repair. Someone that do woodwork should be able to help you. Guess I may underestimate the problem. Anyway, see it like this – This is the opportunity to get exact the type of cabinet that no one else have :-). Make it a top with an extension speaker/cab or like a Fender Tweed or like a Bluesbreaker… how cool isn’t that. Here is some links to vendors who do cabinets for a living. If this is a common L6 PC+ cabinet problem, it may be a business opportunity for them :-) (I have a L6 Variax 500, still using it, but back then some vendors made bodies and necks and used the electronics and some of the hardware, became like a custom shop version of the Variax). I guess you are from US so the links are from over there. There is probably more links to find with some digging. • https://www.mojotone.com/cabinets – They have both “standard” cab’s and custom shop made ones. • https://guitarcabinetsdirect.com/cat/cabinets/ – Theis looks more like standard cab’s, not so much custom shop. Or, if you or someone you know can build one, both of above have the hardware, cloth, tolex and much more. But I’m curious to hear what’s wrong with your cab… I do hope this ends well for you… //Per

I dont knowwhere to put this so I put this here since I have Helix
PerS replied to Soultrainer's topic in Helix
Don't have the Relay 10 but are almost sure you need the Line6 Updater, https://line6.com/software/, installed on your PC or Mac. From there hook it up via USB, start updater and make the update. //Per -
The IR's in Powercab are found under the Digital output (you need to be connected via L6-Link, I guess there is a MIDI-way too, but never used it). After selecting Digital output you will find the Powercab tab where you can select IR and which IR to use (same place where you select Flat and Speaker mode). There is some Allure preinstalled, think it was 5 in my cab. If you want to import more IR's you need to use Power Edit (select import or drag/drop into the editor) In HX Edit you can’t see the name of your IR, only position/number. I made a list on the side with the loaded IR’s and in which position. Your Powercab must have version 2.001 and the Editor 2.00 (software found here https://line6.com/software/index.html) to do above. //Per

I did similar to PierM… Had a large board with pedals and some additional pedals in my 19” rack (midi controled). At that time, I had a POD HD Pro in the rack too that were my “master”. Bought my Helix LT and most of my pedals was replaced by the LT except for my Boss BD3 (Monte Allums mod), Boss NS2, homebuilt compressor (home built, mainly for acoustic), EP-boost clone (home built, so good), Shure GLXD16, Variax Power Supply for my 500 and an isolation transformer to prohibit ground loops. Those pedals are sitting on small Pedaltrain board with room to add an expression pedal later. This gives med three small simple modules to bring when needed at that moment - LT, pedal board and my L6 PC+. The large board I sold and if I need space for more pedals I get another small board and rearrange depending on needs. I don't see that happening as the possibilities in the LT i keeps on coming. And, how much do you need to play Blues... :-) My 19” rack just host a small rack mixer, my studio amp, my soundcard and a Furman conditioner - All this stays at home. Added a pic to visualize it… //Per

Hi rd2rk Finally done the tests and tried to document it below. I did the following I only had my HX Edit open on my PC during test (HX edit and Helix LT both on 3.15) (PC Edit 2.0 and PC+ fw 2.00.1) Interesting finding – Having both PC Edit and HX Edit open and having both MIDI and L6-Link connected made PC editors to freez (did itby mistake) … When you say LF Trim, I guess you mean HF Trim, just testing me right… :-) In snapshot 4 it’s noticed 2xGREEN, I guess that’s because you have a PC+212 and I have a PC+112… Tried the Snapshots from top to bottom, from bottom to top and randomly switched to different snapshots, just to check full control. Snapshot 5 and 6 – Had problem to get those to work, had no sound from the start, from both of them. Really don’t know what made it start but changing User IR was one of them even if I had copied the green-IR to 33… This is one of the really stupid things, I don’t see which IR is in a position from HX Edit. I need to open the PC Edit, and we know what happens then… Used my Gibson LP Studio with Bursbucker 2 + 3 (bridge position to focus on the top end) wireless direct to my L6 Helix LT. Which resulted in this Snapshot 1 – HF Trim had a distinct effect on top end tone. HF turned on and off when switching between Snap 1 and Snap 2-4. Snapshot 2 – HF Trim has no effect on top end tone. Snapshot 3 – HF Trim has no effect on top end tone. Snapshot 4 – HF Trim has no effect on top end tone. Snapshot 5 – HF Trim has no effect on top end tone. Snapshot 6 and 7 – HF Trim had a distinct effect on top end tone. The snap's controlled the switching between the two via MIDI and L6-Link. No sound difference (if I they used the same IR :-). Please let me know if this was what you expected and if there is anything else you want me to test. Added comment - Ì only tested the HF Trim/tweeter in/out, did not test any sound quality questions. If that's of interest let me know and what to test. //Per

A question that hit me... When you did this, did you have the HX Edit and PC Edit open at the same time? Ask because a while back (about 6 months) I did a similar experience (not with Trim, changed some configurations) and got a feeling that PC+ did not know who was in charge, HX Edit via Helix LT USB to L6-Link to PC+ or PC Edit via USB to PC+. Actually, have not used PC Edit since then… Can be a coincidence but as we talking random behavior I bring it up on the table. //Per
