If you're in a cover band like I was, I think the versatility of the JTV with its electrics, acoustics and alt tunings is the perfect swiss army knife. The DT25 although excelent isn't that much of a step forward, as the POD covers the "amp" section

Can Pod HD500 be controlled by other midi controller??
pugdealer replied to leleguitar's topic in POD HD
I'd say the best would even be for you to have all your pedal board and POD under your amp (or wherever), and get a LINE 6 MIDI foot controler ( http://line6.com/footcontrollers/fbvshortboard.html ) connected to your POD which would be connected to all your pedals and control them over the fx send/return on a preset basis maybe, or as a pedalboard...whatever suits you best the foot controller would be all that's in front of you and all your pedals, pod and amp would be stowed away somewhere -
Can Pod HD500 be controlled by other midi controller??
pugdealer replied to leleguitar's topic in POD HD
As explained on the video, there's a list of MIDI commands on the POD's Manual which tells you what MIDI message will command what on the POD...for example: CC53 will toggle on or off footswitch 3, etc All you gotta do is find some type of controller that sends these specific commands, or that can be programmed to do so! The POD can't learn new MIDI inputs, it's fixed to that list on the manual, so it's imperative that the controller can send those specific commands to operate the POD Get one that you can program What exactly will you use the POD for? turn FX on and off? -

Can Pod HD500 be controlled by other midi controller??

I'm sure this will help: -
The principle/tutorial still stands, you'll just connect the MIDI cables to your AMP rather than an interface. You'll actually only need 1 MIDI cable going from the POD's OUT to your AMP's IN
-
You need to program the appropriate MIDI commands on the pod to match the ones on the other device. in this case ( ) it's a DAW, but when the tutorial talks about controlling the POD from the DAW, the principle stands, just think of the POD as the device you're trying to control the POD with now. The tutorial explains how to program both "directions", so if you want to control a device from the POD you'll either have a list of MIDI commands that do things or you'll just program whatever on the POD and put the device oh LEARN mode if it has such a mode. Hope I could help

If you need to control some device with the POD you just need to figure if that other device has a specific MIDI list for its functions, as the POD does (see video), or if the device can learn from the POD...in that case you just set MIDI to any kind of message on the POD, as in the video, then put the device on Learn mode, and hit the footswitch...If the device has a list just program the pod footswitch to the specific MIDI command for the function you want Hope that helped

clarification w/alt tuning
pugdealer replied to diggerbarnz's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
When you're defining a new alt tuning you just have to keep in mind that 12th fret equals to the nut, so if you play all open strings it will give you 1 octave down for all of them. 24th fret will give you 1 octave up, and of course you can get whatever in between. If you want something beyond 1 octave up or down, you'll have to physically tune your guitar to it, but I can't imagine anyone needing more than an octave -
JTV-59 mods - Need help/info
pugdealer replied to pugdealer's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
this makes me sad! :P -
Hey guys I'd like to make a few mods to a 59 and I'm sure some of you know the answers to the following: 1 - Does a gibson pickguard directly fit the 59? 2 - Standard gibson pickup covers fit the 59's pups? 3 - This one is not specific to the 59, but to any rosewood fretboard: Can I apply black wood stain to the freatboard or is it a big no no for some reason I'm missing? thanks!!
-
Thanks...I find this really useful and cool, and it took me a long time to figure it out, cause there was little or no info about it, and I was (am) a complete lame on midi, DAW's, programming...and so I thought it could be useful for someone out there looking for the same thing I did!
-
Hey guys As promised, here's my tutorial on MIDI...at least my understanding and how I use it...let me know what you think and if there's anything I can help you with!
-
I use MIDI live, both to automatically change my presets, fx, and to control my setlist on cubase (play, stop, skip...) I find the HD500 very competent regarding MIDI...what exactly are u trying to do?
-
if you're running stereo fx but still want to go out mono on XLR just hard pan to whatever channel you're going out on!
-
if your signal chain is in mono, then it makes no difference going out 1/4" or XLR in terms of sound, the only difference is that the XLR output is balanced, hence, as you said, no need for a DI
-
On the POD HD manual, there's a list of MIDI commands that tell you what type of MIDI messages do what...for example, CC1 commands the expression pedal. On your daw, set the MIDI track to send commands over CC1, and it will control whatever the expression pedal is set to control...volume, wah, pitch, drive...whatever! I might do a tutorial soon! I really struggled a lot and a long time to understand and program it, and there was little or no info about it, so I think I might do a tutorial to help others find what I didn't!
-
I'm sorry but I couldn't understand what you mean... What exactly are u trying to do? If you want to control amp volume, first you have to assign that parameter to the specific expression pedal you want, then it can be controlled over MIDI
-
MIDI input on the HD500 lets you send midi commands from other sources/devices, like a DAW, to turn on/off fx, change any parameter within an fx/amp, change preset, etc etc...very useful, I use it all the time, specially playing live! MIDI output works the other way around...the HD500 can be set to control other stuff! I use it with my DAW so I can order play, stop, skip from the POD. I did a line 6 rig rundown video where I go lightly over the subject...may do a tutorial or something later on. The rig rundown should be online pretty soon!
-
Yeah there is! CC1 will command volume. What exactly and how are u trying to do it?
-
why not try putting some vinil over it? I tried once on a fender tele I had and it worked great...plus, it's easily reversible!
