  1. This is how I do it! I hook the string to the bridge, place my right hand over the 12th fret and hold the string with my thumb. Then with my left hand, I insert the string in the peg until it's almost completely stretched to my hand, bend the string at the peg to hold it in place, and wind it up. Works pretty good for me. It's fast, practical, and the string get an even turn on the peg
  2. Yeah, thanks a lot!!! My only problem is that I have never worked with any DAW and I'm very very basic when it comes to MIDI, so there's a big learning curve ahead of me, but thanks a lot for the help! I have all the hardware. Not sure about the audio interface's outputs...it's a fast track pro, and it seems to have 2 mono out... 1 question though - How can the whole band hear the click but not the audience...I mean, at least in smaller places the click coming out of the monitors would be heard by who's closer to the stage or even entering our mic's. Should we all use IEM?
  3. I know it sucks, big time, but maybe you'll get it even better this time...might be a good thing...or maybe not...time consuming for sure, but I trust you'll get it right or even better! ;)
  4. I just hook the string to the bridge, hold it there with 1 finger, slide the other end thru the tunning peg and bend it "hard"...then it's just a matter of winding it up! It's kind of unpractical, these kind of bridges, but you'll get the hang of it...
  5. If you want to use the mic simultaneously with the guitar, you should create 2 channels in the chain, have one for the guitar and the other for mic, and pan then hard left and right in the hd500 mixer. Then you'll have the electric guitar coming out from the left or right output, and the mic on the other! That's how I did, but now I don't need to use the mic on the pod anymore...
  6. WOW thanks a lot! That's very helpful! I just saw a video of a guy on youtube doing exactly what I wanted, though he doesn't have a tutorial or anything explaining how he did it...he just says he's using logic and shows the result!
  7. I have a JTV-59, POD HD500, and an L3T, the L2 big brother. I also HAD a DT25, but I found it to be redundant among the L3t. The DT25 was a GREAT amp, but the L3T sound is soooo close to the DT25 that I returned the amp to the store...I mean, having an electric guitar amp may be good in many situations, but as I see it, the only thing I lost was the control over feedback topology the amp gave me, other than that, the L3t is more powerful, has an incredible electric guitar tone, is able to play the acoustic sounds beautifully, and also my keyboard and voice! Depending on the venue, I use the L3t as PA or floor monitor! Once you set all your sounds thru the L3t (or L2) I'm sure it'll sound great anywhere you go! I doubt anyone would mic a L2 or L3...you should either use it as your own PA or as a monitor and have the sound going to the house PA! Abraço!
  8. Hey guys I was reading my POD's manual today, cause I wanted to understand what the midi I/O was for, and how to use it! As I understand, I can use it as a MIDI controller to activate loops or whatever, and have the POD be controlled by some computer software! I play in a band, and from reading this I got the idea of having the POD start a track, have metronome on for me and other band members but not to the PA, and then the samples (pads, strings, whatever) would come on when required as the track would play on the computer. Also, I believe I can program the track on the computer to control the effects on the POD, meaning it would change presets automatically when needed, like when the chorus would star and end, etc. So, are all these assumptions correct? Can I use it as mentioned above? If so, what softwares are able to do that (for mac)? How exactly is it done? didn't find any videos on youtube on it...
  9. I'm with you on this one!!! L6 should definitely to a firmware update on the HD500 to let it control the L3T, like it already happens with the JTV and DT amps. I'd like to choose on the POD the mode in which the L3t is operating, whether if it's set globaly or on a preset basis, have the master volume knob on the POD working, etc. The L3t really matches with the pod, and the potential is enormous, just gotta make it happen line 6!! GIVE US CONTROL, GIVE US THE POWER! :P
  10. Hey guys I was fine tunning my presets to my L3t yesterday and I was getting quite some hiss. I had a jack from the hd500 to ch1 on the l3t mixer, master on both pod and l3t were at 50% and the gain on the mixer was about 1/4. Hiss almost disappeared when I activated the pad on the mixer, or connected the jack to the input on the back, which is padded to start with. I checked everything on the pod for settings, and the l3t was always in PA mode...is this normal? I didn't try the l6 link cause I don't want to lose control of the master on the pod and I don't want the pod changing the modes on the l3t, cause I want it in PA mode all the time. So, any ideas?
  11. Thanks guys I guess I'll try the 0.11's as soon as I run out of 0.10's! I'm not that great of a player, but I'm really sensitive to fine tuning and intonation, and I have better control over it with 0.11's. They'll stay in tune better when sliding or pressing hard with my fingers, or strumming hard, and I find them also better in terms of intonation...the 0.10's can be tricky or vague, cause they'll slightly go over when picked a bit harder.
  12. Hey I was just wondering if anyone had tried a different string gauge on their JTV's. I'm kinda used to the 0.10's and I've been using the recommended d'addario strings, but I always preferred 0.11 strings... Anyone tried chaging the gauge? How did it affect the modeling? Thanks Rod
  13. I think the best way to get the best fidelity sound out of your pod into an L3, is having the output in studio/direct. Mine was sounding terrible cause the L6 link was switching it to combo pwr or something like that. My best results, the more closely matched to the DT25 were in studio/direct and PA mode, though "strangely" it needed a bit more treble and/or less bass in the L3T EQ to perfectly match the sound to the DT25, and I thought it would have to go the other way around. As for my patches. I ended up using the PRE models on the POD, cause that's what they recommend when using a DT amp, and like I said, I could get the same tone outta the L3T, and that seems to work best for me!
  14. I have the same "issue"...the G string doesn't tune properly! I always end up fine tunning the G string by hear...
  15. Just spent the morning with these 2, side by side, comparing the sound and feel of each one... I had the DT25 prior to the L3T, cause I wanted to get the best guitar tone possible from my dream rig, and to be in control (for the most part) of tone and volume wherever I would play, and not the sound guy. The DT25 is great...I mean, really great! Sounds awesome and has a great feel. Plus, it's really simple and easy to get the tone your looking for, and on the fly if needed...I'm really happy with it! I got the L3T to replace a Bose L1 compact I had. I needed something more powerful than the Bose so I could have a sound system for my keyboard, voice, and acoustic sounds from my JTV. So, this morning I had them playing side by side. The HD500 was going to the DT25 thru the L6 link and to the L3T thru the 1/4 jack output. I got a loop going on the POD and started cross fading the volumes, and at first I though...WTF!?!? The L3T sounds hooooooooorrible!!! It seemed like a totally different preset/guitar/amp model going on, and I mean TOTALLY! I tried the input on the back, the input on the mixer, and chaging the mode on the L3T. It got really better when in "electric guitar" mode, but still, way off the DT25 sound. I also tried going from the POD to the L3T via L6 link, but still I wasn't happy with it... After quite some time fiddling with I/O, amps, EQ's, etc, I realized that if the 2 were connected at the same time, sound on the L3T would be awful, but not if I disconnected the L6 link on the DT25. The POD was changing automatically the output to power amp and so the sound on the L3T got terrible. I then tried again the L3T, with no other connection, and the correct output set on the POD...VOILÃ!!!! Instant great tone!!! After that, with only really minor tweaking, the L3T was sounding awesome in PA mode, better still in electric guitar...I mean, it got sooooooooo soooooooooo close to the DT25 to the point of getting me wondering about actually needing the amp! Sure, you can still just tell them apart, specially in terms of feel, attack, etc, or if only because the speakers are totally different, but having the tone so closely matched, and being able to also play acoustics (which I need), plus keyboard and voice in 1 single package, really makes the DT25 redundant, at least for me! I'm really thinking about returning/selling the amp now. My only doubt has to do with one of the main reasons I got the amp, which was to get an even tone/volume wherever I played, since the amp would be micced, but I don't know how well/faithfully will a sound guy be able to mic the L3T, if at all...I had one telling me he wouldn't at all, he would just get it straight out of the pod, but that would defeat the tone/volume control I want, and hand that over to him. Sorry about the long post, but I had to share my amazement for the L3T sound compared to the DT25
  16. Well, I read the bose had around 140W to 300W peak. The L3T has 1400W peak, that's why I said "at least 3 times more powerful"...I didn't meant it literally, just that I expected the L3T to be muuuuuuuuuch louder. I used the cheapo mixer with the bose too, and it seem to produce (as much) hiss. I just expected the L3T to really blow our hears off with the vocals, but strangely it didn't...but since it could blow me away with the guitar sound, I'm guessing/hoping the vocal part has to do with something other that the L3T... Sorry about "stealing" the thread...I just wanted to get a feeling from others experiences and help
  17. I tried the pad, I tried lowering the output on the small mixer and raising the gain on the L3T's mixer, but I couldn't get rid of the hiss or the peaking...I really need to get at it again...
  18. Just seen it on youtube! what's your thoughts on it so far? I have a DT25, braaaand new, and just traded yesterday my Bose L1 Compact for an L3T, which I took to rehearsal yesterday night. I didn't really had a good chance to test it, cause it had to put out our voices, my guitar and keyboard, and I just left ir always on PA mode lying on the kick stand/handle towards us. I kind of got mixed feelings about it... It's more powerful than the Bose I had, but it should be at least 3 times more powerful, which it didn't seem. I mean, the guitar sounded really loud, but on the other hand, it seemed to be peaking very early with the voices...I couldn't quite figure what was going on... I connected the POD HD500 to ch1 on the mixer, and left the EQ flat, and the mic's (3) where all going to ch2 from a cheap very small mixer we have. The guitar sounded good, but it needed tweeking to suit the L3T in terms of EQ and volume between presets. The voices weren't sounding great...they were peaking, producing a lot of hiss (with or without feedback supression)... I tried connecting the POD via L6 link, but it was too loud to start with and the master on the POD didn't work, and I ended up going to ch1 on the L3T mixer to avoid losing a lot of time going thru all the volumes on all the presets I use. Master level on the L3T was kept at 50% all the time... I need some alone time with it and my DT25...I need to get the voices to sound beautiful thru the L3T without any hiss and I need to figure out just how powerful this L3T can be and wether or not I'm keeping my DT25 or if it'll just become redundant having the L3T... Let me know your thoughts on it...
  19. I had a Bose L1 Compact for 3 years and I just traded in for an L3T which I'm picking up today, in a couple of hours. I did it because the Bose hadn't enough power for my needs for quite some time now...It was a nice system, for acoustics in small venues or pop/rock covers, where the volume wouldn't have to really impose on people, and using sampled drums, but still, it was peaking all the time. It's a very clever, light, practical system, with great sound dispersion, but it 150W or so weren't getting the job done for a while now, so I figured the 1400W from the L3T would get the sound up to where it should/needed to be... I know that 1400W refers to peak power, but still, the bose's peak was around 300W, so I guess I'm still getting a lot more power from the L3T. SPL output is also a lot higher on the L3T. I'm considering running my pod hd500 thru it alone and get rid of the DT25 if the sound is good and powerfull enough, though I'll be having keyboards and voice thru the L3T too...we'll see after some testing if the AMP stays or goes. Sorry about the bose testament, but it seems quite some people here were using bose's and they're migrating to L6...I'll give you my impressions after tonights rehearsal!
  20. Is it possible to connect a DT25 to an L3T via L6 link? does the L3T recognize its receiving signal from an amp?
  21. Well, I'm happy to hear that... My doubt with the guitar tone had to do with the DSP modes...I mean, they say tone is best when in electric guitar mode, in which it emulates a 212 cabinet...but when having that, I think that if I play keyboard or sing, those 2 sounds won't sound right, so I would have to select PA mode, which (in my mind) wouldn't have a good enough guitar tone... Anyway, I just ordered an L3T today and I'm probably keeping the DT25 as well, unless I get really surprised with the L3T to the point of making me forget about the AMP...we'll see
  22. Thanks silverhead My major concern is sound quality...I don't want the guitar to sound bad, like too "squeelly", or the voice too unclear... I own a Bose L1 compact, and it's become way too underpowered for the voice and keyboard, and I wanted to have something practical but that sounded GOOD playing guitar, keyboard and voice at once! wouldn't it be better if I connecter the HD500 via L6 link to the L3t???
  23. Hey Is 1 L3T able to handle my POD HD500 playing all types of electric distorted sounds, a keyboard and my voice at the same time with good tonal quality for each of these instruments? Will it play the guitar sounds faithfully while acheiving the same thing with my voice at the same time??
