Tell us more about your signal chain. I don't have this problem with the built-in cabs, and have not had it when I used IR cabs either. Gutar? other FX in the chain? settings on the monitor?
-
yup. Indeed. You'd have to use it with a computer obviously, but yes.
-
They did just introduce a new improved version... in a free firmware update!
-
you want a Helix bean is what you want. That would be kinda cool.
-
I'm pretty certain it can, Nicolas. You could have 4 amps, each with its own output.
-
Talkin' to me I think. Yes, you can do this with Variax. I don't have a Variax anymore, so I don't have any demo or tutorial. But it's easy to accomplish.
-
In any case, I'm certain that this functionality has been retained. You can go further. If you are able to make a patch with 2, 3 or 4 amps, and 4 cabinets, you can send each cabinet out it's own output, XLR L, XLR R, 1/4" L and 1/4" R.

You don't need performance mode on Helix Floor, because you have scribble strips. BUT... for those who opt to not get Control (which you should get, I promise you), it would be nice to have it on the Rack, wouldn't it!
-
I don't mind them at all. I just prefer other things and love that I have the flexibility.
-
I don't think they're liable to break that much, but I still agree with you. And I've never been a fan of the feel of many of the built in EXPs on things... One of the things I love about Helix Rack. I am using my own EXPs and love it that way.

guitarlory, I don't think you're a troll, I do think perhaps you are never going to be fully happy with any of these units, but I'm glad you found one that makes your life and your job easier. I will say you SHOULD keep current on firmware, but the delays are not any different sounding in this update I don't think.
-
What bugs? Least buggy update I've encountered so far. Even the first beta I tested was very solid.

I would say to you it's not "fan boy ears" necessarily. I've heard the AX8 and it sounds GREAT. imho, if you're after ease of use and love that box's sound, you should consider getting one AND a cheap Windows laptop, because even though the front panel is confusing to many, that Axe Edit software is TO DIE FOR! I don't necessarily like the sounds of the Axe stuff I've heard or the Kemper stuff (which I've only heard in recordings) better or worse. They are different to me. I have no desire for a Kemper, but GAWD I wish I could afford to have an AX8 along with my Helix! For me Helix gets the tone in my head all inside the box... nothing else does (for ME and my particular needs)..., and lets me do super-weird routing of sometimes 3 and 4 signal chains that are totally different. That's it's key strength to me. In terms of "what you paid for", I would offer what I always say to people that buy firmware-upgrade-able hardware these days. Don't buy what it might be some day. Buy what it is today. If that won't work for you, don't get it. Even better... save up a bunch of money and buy 'em all!

yup. This. And the new stuff that appears is sometimes pretty cool, at least for getting ideas for your own patches.
-
Not everyone agrees with that, jus' saying'...
-
not sure it does, actually. I think you still have to re-set your globals after a new FW install. No worries, it takes me less than 30 seconds and I have the whole set memorized now.

Nigel Hendroff pedalboard , can someone help me with that ?
PeterHamm replied to gabrielvasquesb's topic in Helix
The trick is not to use what he uses, but to think about the signal chain the way he does. So... the first thing he likes is a bit of a boost to add some hair... in Helix, I'd use the Minotaur for that. Think about the way you want to sound and what you have available and take it a pedal at a time. Stereo amps are great, but if you don't have a great sound guy, your tone is so huge it gets buried in the mix to compensate... jus' saying'... -
Do you have the editor upgraded as well? I will say this. DO NOT use Bundles. Just... don't... Setlists are a far better idea, and lately I've taken to saving all my patches separately so they're easier to move around, too.
-
I don't think you'll get that kind of functionality in the Helix Looper ever. For such advanced looper needs, you should really consider a dedicated Looper.
-
It sounds like you need to update the editor as slivered says. Because what you describe is EXACTLY what happens when you use a firmware release with an old editor.
-
That would be a reasonable way to do it, but no. There are two paths (which can be split into two paths each) in Helix. There is a CPU for each of the paths, that's how it actually functions. In any case, though, you can't create something so dense that it needs both processors.
-
They have hinted that when Helix Native happens, at that same time this whole process will change and become easier for everyone.
-
The editor has no significant User Interface changes, but you MUST use the latest editor to use the latest firmware.
-
There is a new editor, and they've moved the Updater (you have to use v 1.11 I think it is) up near the top. All worked smoothly here on MacOS Sierra 10.12.4.
