  1. Add a split and you can do 3rd party IRs in stereo if you want. Quite a resource-hungry way to do it, but it can be done.
  2. I love it. LOVE trolls. Enjoy them. It's fun. It's like watching a train wreck happening or reading about politics... Pass the bacon please.
  3. I think you should just plug your guitar into the Aux input and use a combo of the Vintage Mic Pre and a Parametric EQ and maybe compressor (not to mention an acoustic IR) and it will sound way way better than what you're trying to do. Seriously. I've used a couple of acoustic pre amps with Helix. totally unnecessary.
  4. I have heard they are on par with Suhr, Anderson, Melancon, Tyler and the like, and the folks I've heard that from give me no reason not to believe it. wish I could afford one!
  5. Not only that, but you don't see them for sale used that often, leading me to think that people who have them love them.
  6. When I shot Nikon I had GREAT luck with about 3 or 4 refurbished items I bought, and since I've switched to Olympus, I've bought about the same. No issues with any of the "refurbished" stuff.
  7. First... "refurbished" often gets slapped on gear that was bought and returned and is perfectly good, but no longer can ethically be sold new. I've bought a TON of refurbished camera stuff that is exactly that way. Sometimes there was something wrong and it was fixed, but according to manufacturers I've spoken with, the vast majority of this stuff is merely "re-boxed". Second, what you mention is an ADVANTAGE, possibly, of buying refurbished if if was, in fact, repaired. Because if there was something wrong with it, now it got fixed. If you bought something new, maybe whatever is wrong with it isn't fixed yet! Used car is a totally different scenario (although I'll only buy used from now on. The ridiculous amount of money you lose on a new car just ain't worth it to me).
  8. A really clean sound will often be very quiet with a lot of the amps. That's okay. A couple tips, some of this was already mentioned. If you have the Amp Master Volume up really high, you will get a little or a lot of hair. So back that down, turn the channel volume (which does NOT affect the tone of the amp, only the volume of the block) all the way up. Add a gain block after the cabinet to bring it up where you need to if need be, or a studio comp or even a mic pre block. And some amps do NOT clean up. At all. Avoid them. What amp and what guitar and what cab are you using?
  9. except that a refurb probably has an "as new" warranty, and often they are in absolutely perfect condition.
  10. Let's not forget fluorescent lights! YUK! But you can normally just turn those off.
  11. In my experience, even turned off and on a different circuit they are often a real problem. I'll never have one again.
  12. No, it is not the same kind of thing at all, I'm certain. And you know this because...??? Don't get me wrong, I want a POG or (even better) a HOG in here if they can do it. But even if it is only SLIGHTLY more CPU intensive than other FX, I will probably not use it very much, preferring my external device for this task.
  13. Be sure to set your high and low cuts. And get a couple speakers that work together on the L and R. AND... use a different mic for each (I recommend the ribbons)... finally, mess with early reflections and mic distance.
  14. I do not think this is correct, however. Someone mentioned that? What devices are they talking about? I've never found them. And I've looked.
  15. Well, you never were able to show us a patch you made on your unit that was giving you fits. If so, I know for me, I might have been able to mitigate it quickly and easily. Hope it all works out for you eventually.
  16. Many EXP and Volume pedals will work, too. If you already have an VP Jr., for instance, try that before buying something.
  17. The only time to use the electric guitar mode is if the l2m is your main source of sound for the audience, imho. Otherwise, leave it in whatever the PA mode is.
  18. 1. Polyphonic pitch shifting is, I bet, incredibly CPU-intensive. 2. Only a few people really need what a POG or HOG have to offer, and those people (like myself) are often using loads of FX which means that if those models were in Helix, we'd end up buying a POG or HOG anyway to free up CPU cycles.
  19. May I humbly suggest the info I have in this article right here on doing 2-voice guitar with Helix. https://pietrosquared.wordpress.com/helix-2-voice-guitar/
