I see it saving between snapshots, but unless you SAVE TO LIBRARY before leaving the preset, it loses the settings. SAVE TO LIBRARY is accessed using that little ... icon next to the Preset Name in the top menu bar. There might be a shortcut, but I use Native so infrequently that I don't know all of the shortcuts.

If it goes away when you disconnect the USB, then it's a USB ground loop. A humbuster in the audio path (between the Stomp and the amp/speaker) will fix it. I use cheap PYLE PHE300 or PHE400 (has XLR) available on Amazon, but Behringer makes the same thing, probably in the same factory.

Unless you want to be tethered to a computer so you can use the unreliable app, a small MIDI controller would be the way to go. Using the Stomp you already have the MIDI controller. POD Express does not have MIDI. You'd also want to set the CAB in the PE to OFF. 4) Yes. 5) RTM. It's done using the app. Overall, I think that you'll be better off sticking to the HXSXL. This is not an application for which the POD Express was designed and it brings nothing to the table but size.

Just the CommandCenter assignments, not the parameter assignments or BYPASS status of specific FX Blocks.

Did you figure this out? If not, take a screenshot of the Reaper Audio Device configuration and track settings.. I'm not a MAC guy, but maybe it's a simple configuration problem.

My PC212+ is for sale on CL Denver. Great price. I can even ship it in the original packaging! Meanwhile, I'm using my HR FRFR112 (universally agreed to be "boomy") with the DI from my Catalyst to fill out the sound. Sounds better than the PC212+. Go figure. I got the PC212+ originally to replace a PC112+ that I thought was too dark sounding. We all have different ears.

I should be taller. Reality sucks! As I pointed out, FRFR is a meaningless marketing term. If FRFR was a real thing and what you say were true, there would only be a need for one brand of PA speaker. Reality is that mfrs are designing for BEST SOUNDING, not MOST FRFR. If you believe that, go for it! The trick is finding "THE ONE". That's true for FRFR/PA cabs as well as actual guitar cabs.

Try using a separate SEND to your amp vs using the Main Outs for both. Then you can simply turn it OFF when not using the amp. Use the L/Mono Out to the Dream. Why aren't you using 4cm with the Dream so you can have Pre and Post FX?

You can't turn the knobs if you're not at your amp, and you can't use the knobs in MANUAL mode from the app. Yes, I understand why one would want to use a FS. I'm offering alternatives to waiting forever for an update that might not ever happen. What do you mean, I do it all the time. I use MIDI to select the Manual Mode and the FS for whatever I need it to do that's allowed by the app. Not ideal, but I'm not waiting around for an update! TBH - I never use the FS, I ALWAYS use MIDI. Less junk on the floor.

I think I've been misunderstanding what you're trying to do. My bad! On re-reading your posts, it seems that you're trying to have dual use presets - they behave one way when you MANUALLY load the preset SEND Block ON. And another way when loaded by SLM - SEND Block OFF. So, the problem is the dual use requirement and the way Helix handles FS toggling. Dump the first part - CC#71 - switching MODE is not necessary except when MANUALLY loading the preset. Unless you WANT to be in Stomp Mode. Set the SEND Block to use BOTH FS1 and MIDI BYPASS CC#4 and SAVE the Helix preset with the SEND Block ON. Set SLM to load the setlist/preset, then send CC#4 Value 0. DO NOT SEND CC#50!!! If you WANT to be in Stomp Mode, this is where to send CC#71 Value 0. You may need to add a WAIT or, as I did in Reaper to test this, the preset loads at (track time) 1.1.0 (START) and the CC runs at 1.1.1 to allow time for the preset to load before sending the OFF message to the SEND Block. What you're doing is toggling the SEND Block OFF with MIDI CC#4 Value 0 from SLM but using FS1 when loading the preset MANUALLY. I've attached a simple example preset with nothing but a SEND Block. Note the settings for BYPASS ASSIGN (FS1) and MIDI BYPASS (CC#4). Snapshot Bypass is OFF in case you're using Snapshots, to prevent surprises. I tested this with Reaper and no more repeated toggling. Just replace the FX Loop Block with the Helix Amp Block. You will need a power amp of some sort between Helix and the 2x12 cab. Any pedalboard power amp will do.

Snapshot Reselect will reload the current Snapshot, re-sending all Instant Commands and Toggling switch values. I think he meant Global Settings>Preferences>SNAPSHOT EDITS>Retain/Discard. Set that to RETAIN. That allows you to make changes across Snapshots while configuring them without having to SAVE each time - you can change it back DISCARD later if you prefer any LIVE changes you make while in a Snapshot to not be retained. If you leave it set to RETAIN, the changes made in performance will not be SAVED, they'll simply be RETAINED until you leave the Preset. Go to your first Snapshot and set all the switches the way you want them in THAT Snapshot. Right Click on a button and in the dropdown select COPY ALL. Go to your next Snapshot. Select a button and Right Click. In the dropdown select PASTE ALL. Repeat for all Snapshots. SAVE THE PRESET! Now go back to your first Snapshot and customize the buttons that need to be changed. Your main concern will likely be those buttons that you've decided to use for Snapshot changes. In each Snapshot you have to have those buttons set to go where you want them to from THAT Snapshot. If you always know where you'll want to go from any given Snapshot, you only need ONE FS. Having options requires multiple switches. Attached is a simple example I made on my HXS using a single FS an the PRESS/HOLD setting. In SS1 if you PRESS and release you go to SS2. Press and HOLD takes you to SS3. In SS2 if you PRESS and release you go to SS3. Press and HOLD takes you to SS1. In SS3 if you PRESS and release you go to SS2. Press and HOLD takes you to SS1. My HXS only has 3 Snapshots, so that's all I can do, but as you can see, you can go crazy on a Helix with 8 Snapshots! Have Fun! Traveling Snaps.hlx

Page 70 of the manual, Global Settings MIDI/Tempo: 5 Tempo Select The “Speed” or “Time” parameters of all tempo-based FX can be set to a note value that follows Tap Tempo or the tempo set with Knob 6 (Snapshot BPM/Preset BPM/Global BPM). Choose whether the Helix LT tempo is stored and recalled with each snapshot, recalled with each preset, or is applied globally across all presets and snapshots. NOTE: Helix LT does not respond to pressing TAP at tempi lower than 40.0 BPM to ensure that multiple fast tap entries are recognized properly. You may still manually select a tempo as low as 20.0 BPM using this Tempo Select setting. --------------------------------------------------------------- Attached is an example preset. Two delays, set to different tempos, one set using NOTE (1/4), the other set using TIME (600ms). FS11 toggles between the two delays. In HX Edit, when you RIGHT CLICK on a block, the drop-down menu contains BYPASS ASSIGN. That sets the BYPASS to a FS. Set that to NONE. That drop-down also shows MIDI BYPASS. Set that to the desired MIDI CC#. CC#50 activates FS2. You've set the FS to NONE in BYPASS ASSIGN, so that command is not necessary for this experiment. What I'm trying to establish is whether the block is bypassed (using MIDI) when you send it an OFF Value (0) vs an ON Value (127). Reason being that when I do this in Reaper, 127 always TOGGLES, 0 does not. I want to see if it's the same in SLM, which would likely indicate that it's telling Helix to TOGGLE when it receives 127. Some programs do that so that (I assume) if you're using a controller that does not have a TOGGLE function you can still toggle a setting. THU allows that option by having the user tap the switch twice when using the LEARN function. If it gets the same message twice it knows to toggle using THAT Value, vs getting 127/0 which tells it to use normal toggling. Positive Grid BIAS FX OTOH, toggles regardless of what Value it receives on the assigned CC, no options. I HATE that! Anyhow, I'm spit balling here, just trying to narrow down where the strange toggling behavior is coming from. When I use a MIDI controller directly on a Helix block assigned to BYPASS using a CC, it ALWAYS turns on with 127 and STAYS on regardless of how many times I send 127. Conversely, a Value of 0 ALWAYS BYPASSES the block and it STAYS BYPASSED regardless of how many times I send 0. So Helix MIDI BYPASS uses regular toggling messages 0/127. That indicates that the problem is PROBABLY similar MIDI coding in both Reaper and SLM. That neither allows you to specify the ON/OFF Values - MIDI Standard is any Value between 0-63=OFF;64-127=ON and Helix uses this standard - causes me to think that Reaper and SLM are the source of the problem.

I say that because I assume that you don't want to wait for an update which might never come. I just use MIDI and tell the Cat to do what I want. Its little brain gets confused when it has to think too much! ;-) "OH DEAR! IS MY BOSS A FS OR A MIDI! WHATEVER SHALL I DO!" You could always trick it by using MIDI AND a FS! In any case, if you need to set DEEP parameters you'll need to use the app anyway, just click the "M" icon. Here's something that I don't get - you can control the DEEP PARAMETERS (threshold and decay) of the Noise Gate (which I never use - hate them!) with MIDI, but not the Delay Time or Feedback amount! Little known fact - MANUAL MODE recalls whatever state it was in when last used, so it's actually a 13th preset!

You still have the FS2 acting as BYPASS. BYPASS on that Block should ONLY be MIDI BYPASS. However, set like this, Reaper is still toggling the effect repeatedly for no reason that I can deduce. What's more, this toggling phenomenon only happens if I specify an ON (127) Value. OFF (0) does NOT toggle the effect repeatedly! Try (after eliminating the FS BYPASS setting and CC#50 message) this. Instead of sending the ON value, send an OFF value. See if it does the same in SLM as I described for Reaper.

I don't have the LT (I have a Floor), so I'm totally going by the manual. IDK what version of the manual you have, I have 3.80. Page 13 says this: Preset Footswitch Mode Preset mode is used to navigate presets in the current setlist. 1. If not already there, press FS6 (MODE) to select Preset mode. The middle eight switches display two banks of presets, and the active preset appears with a red LED ring: Page 14 says this: Stomp Footswitch Mode While in Stomp mode, each of the middle eight footswitches can do a number of things: • Toggle one or more blocks on and off • Toggle between two values of one or more parameters • Generate a MIDI, External Amp control, or QWERTY Hotkey message • All of the above, even simultaneously If not already there, press FS6 (MODE) to select Stomp mode. Page 15 says: Pedal Edit Mode Most blocks’ settings can be edited without taking your hands off the guitar, including Amp, Effect, Cab, IR, Split, Mixer, Input, and Output Block parameters—even Variax String Level, Powercab Plus, and DT25/DT50 remote parameters! If you hate having to reach down and twist knobs, Pedal Edit mode will be your new best friend. Although Pedal Edit is not intended to replace proper controller assignment, it can also be used to tweak one parameter at a time during a performance in a pinch. 1. Hold FS6 (MODE) for two seconds. It sounds like you entered SNAPSHOT MODE. Page 14 says: Snapshot Footswitch Mode ... 1. Press BANK and BANK simultaneously to enter Snapshot mode. The middle eight boxes flash, indicating one is ready to be selected. In Global Settings>Footswitches there's a setting called "Snapshot Mode Switches": 3. Snapshot Mode Switches When set to “Auto Return,” Helix LT returns to the previous footswitch mode after selecting a snapshot. When set to “Manual Return,” Helix LT stays in Snapshot footswitch mode until you press FS6 (PRESET/STOMP mode). So, if you'd gotten into Snapshot Mode, from Stomp Mode, after selecting a Snapshot if this setting was AUTO it would have automatically dumped you back into Stomp Mode. As I said, I don't have an LT, so you'll need to play around with that setting and the MODE switch to see which combination does what. On my Helix Floor, if I set the switches to 8 switch mode (I normally use 10 switch mode), FS 1&7 are always Bank UP/DOWN (another preference). If I press them both at once I enter Snapshot Mode. If "Snapshot Mode Switches" is set to AUTO, the switches flash until I select a snapshot, then automatically dump me back to whatever MODE (Preset/Stomp) I was in when I went into Snapshot Mode. If "Snapshot Mode Switches" is set to MANUAL, after selecting a snapshot I remain in Snaphot Mode until I press FS6 (MODE SWITCH). It seems from my reading of the manual that the LT works the same way, it just has different displays and does not have the 10 switch mode.

IDK about the ToneX1 (the small pedal). Based on what I've read I wouldn't get one, which is why I said not to. What ANY profiler (vs modeler) sounds like is all about the actual profiles/captures. Hardly anybody likes the stock ToneX captures. Amalgam makes REALLY good captures, and those are the ones I use. Nothing "thin" about them. Additional considerations are that the 3 button configuration allows for the standard Clean/Crunch/Lead setup on each of the 50 banks. Amps can be loaded via MIDI from the Stomp, and the entire bank in which that capture lives is then available via FS on the TX. The new FX are quite good, sparing DSP on the Stomp, and can be toggled and parameters such as delay time can be set via MIDI from the Stomp. EQ is straight up via knobs and quite effective. If you're not afraid to RTM and do some menu diving, ANYTHING can be adjusted with the knobs. The new Editor is EXCELLENT, allowing you to edit the captures on the unit without loading the annoying original SW. While the editor works for the TX1 (I've read), most of what I've just described (including MIDI) is NOT available on the TX1. Get one from a shop (Thomann?) with a proper returns policy and DL some of the sample Amalgam captures from Tone.Net. He posts samples for all of his excellent amp packs. You might be pleasantly surprised! Also keep in mind (IDK what your experience level is) that your playback system ultimately determines the quality of what you hear. Apart from multiple headphones (which I hate to use, but, apartment, neighbors :-P) I have 6"Rokit studio monitors with a 10" sub, A Catalyst100, a Powercab212+ and a HR FRFR112. They all sound great, but different.

1 - Set the Stomp Send/Return to INST. Set the HXFX INPUT to INST. FX loops add a SMALL amount of noise to the signal. There's no advantage in this scenario to using the HXFX FX Loop, so don't. Take the Stomp SEND to the HXFX INPUT. 2- Set the HXFX Output to INST and take it into the Stomp RETURN. 3- I'm not clear on your MIDI requirements. Are you using a SETLIST app to send MIDI to the Stomp for song changes? Or a separate MIDI controller? IF YES THEN on the Stomp, set Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo>MIDI THRU = OFF; MIDI PC Tx = ON (or OFF if using CommandCenter, see below); MIDI PC Rx = MIDI (if using a controller) or USB (if using a setlist app from a computer) or MIDI+USB if you want to cover all the bases; Snapshot CC SEND = OFF On the HXFX, set MIDI PC Rx = MIDI; MIDI THRU and MIDI PC Tx = OFF. You only need to connect the Stomp MIDI Out to the HXFX MIDI IN. There's no purpose for the HXFX MIDI Out>Stomp MIDI IN. Above I mentioned settings for the Stomp MIDI PC Tx. When set ON this automatically sends the default PC#. IOW - the default PC# for Stomp Preset 01A is 0. When you load 01A the Stomp sends PC#000. This means that the HXFX preset will always correspond to the Stomp preset. If you set MIDI PC Tx = OFF you can use CommandCenter Instant Commands to link ANY Stomp Preset to ANY HXFX preset, even changing the HXFX preset at will within a Stomp preset using Snapshots. IOW - a loaded Stomp preset can have multiple HXFX configurations without changing Stomp presets. Likewise, you can use Instant Commands (IC) to send Snapshot messages to the HXFX. A Stomp preset's Snapshots can also load an HXFX preset with a Snapshot other than its default SAVED Snapshot. IOW - a Stomp Snapshot can load any HXFX preset with any of that preset's Snapshots. To create a CLEAN BOOST without using a GAIN BLOCK, assign the Output Block Level to a FS and set the MIN/MAX levels appropriately. For example, MIN=0db; MAX = 4db. That gives you the default unity gain (0db) at MIN and a 4db BOOST at MAX. I've attached an example preset that demonstrates some of these techniques. FS1 switches Snapshots. SS1 and SS2 send MIDI to the HXFX on the BASE MIDI CHANNEL which is, by default CH1. Check both devices to confirm that they are set to BASE in Global Settings>MIDI/Tempo. Note the use of WAIT times when loading the HXFX Snapshot using ICs. This prevents the Snapshot loading before the preset has time to load, a random quirk of sending multiple simultaneous MIDI messages. Note also that when a Stomp Mode FS is used to call different Snapshots, the FS needs to be programmed in EACH Snapshot. I recommend that you DL a MIDI MONITOR so that you can keep track of what the Stomp is ACTUALLY sending vs what you HOPE it's sending! I recommend MIDIOX, the gold standard of MIDI utilities It's FREE! Unless, of course, you're using a MAC, in which case you'll need to research the MAC equivalent. Good Luck! In MIDIOX be sure to deselect both options under OPTIONS>DATA DISPLAY so that you can see the values in decimal rather than the default hex. If this sounds complicated, you're right, it is. That's one reason to get a LT/FLOOR/RACK. Much easier to configure, not to mention less latency. While it limits you in some ways, all of this stuff can still be done. More questions?
