What make/model amp are you using? Does it have an FX Loop? I ask because there doesn't seem to be a reason for the stereo RETURN to the HXFX. The routing (with amp FX Loop) should be: Guitar -> HX Effects input set to INSTRUMENT level HXFX PRE FX such as OD, MOD etc. HXFX Send 1 (FX Loop 1 set to INSTRUMENT level) -> Amp in Amp FX SEND -> HXFX RETURN 1 HXFX POST FX such as (MONO) DELAY, REVERB etc. HXFX L/MONO Main Out (set to INSTRUMENT LEVEL) -> Amp FX RETURN Amp speaker out -> Torpedo Captor X -> (attenuator) -> Amp's Speaker Captor-x XLR (L or R set to DUAL MONO with IR or both set to Stereo with IR) -> FOH This routing puts PRE FX before your amp's PREAMP and POST FX between the PREAMP and POWER AMP. ALL FX are then sent to the amp's (attenuated) speaker and through the Captor's IR (selected via SW)>XLR to FOH. Of course, if your amp does NOT have an FX Loop, ALL FX must come BEFORE the amp but again, no reason to return the signal to the HXFX. The routing would then be: Guitar -> HX Effects input set to INSTRUMENT level ALL HXFX effects HXFX L/MONO Out (INSTRUMENT LEVEL) -> Amp Input Amp speaker out -> Torpedo Captor X -> (attenuator) -> Amp's Speaker Captor-x XLR (L or R set to DUAL MONO or both set to Stereo with IR -> FOH Technically, you COULD return the signal to the HXFX via the Captor's 1/4" Out and use the HXFX IRs for FOH, but I see no point in doing that, as it would simply add unnecessary complexity and reduce available FX Blocks/DSP in the HXFX. The Captor-x has that covered via the XLRs.

This is a user-to-user support forum. Nobody from Line6 hangs out here. Anything you read here would just be guesses/wishful thinking. If you want to hear/ask actual Line6 people, go over to The Gear Page Digital and Modeling Forum. There you would read Eric Klein's (aka Digital Igloo) statement that they are currently not allowed to discuss looper topics beyond being able to place looper flags on the Showcase timeline. That indicates that, yes, there will be a looper but, for now, that's all we get - sooner or later.

Considering all the amazing stuff they've stuffed into Stadium that I'll probably never use, it kinda makes sense that they'd fix the drivers and incorporate MIDI v2. I understand the pricing logic of not making people pay for compatibility with abandoned products like Variax and Powercab, but I'm not paying another $250 for an extra box to be able to optimize using my Powercab, so the actual AGOURA AMP MODELING improvements better be good 'cause I don't give a rat's patootie about the "capture" tech, and my 9yo Helix floor and Powercab still sounds great! I've pre-ordered, but waiting to hear more details and sound samples before I spend that money!

I'm not sure what you mean by that. Send 1 needs to be INSTRUMENT Level at 0db (UNITY) because that's what the Amp's Input wants to see. Set both FX Loops to INSTRUMENT. You should be able to use the OUTPUT knob on the front of the Captor-x to set the Captor's Output Level low enough to not overdrive the HXFX Returns if the XLRs are LINE level. They SHOULD be MIC level being XLR and designed for connection to FOH, so that should not be a problem. Since MIC level is lower than INSTRUMENT level, you may have to turn that knob up quite a bit or even raise the RETURN level on the FX Loop Blocks. Start with the RETURN levels at 0db (default) and the knob at 0 and turn it up slowly.

Try using keyboard shortcuts instead. IDK about FLS, but Reaper uses SPACEBAR for PLAY/STOP. Check the FLS documentation for specifics.

@browlandThe first reply you received was not just snark. This is a user-to-user support forum. Nobody from Line6 hangs out here. If you're really interested in the subject, post over at The Gear Page in the Digital and Modeling Forum. Eric Klein (aka Digital Igloo) and others from L6 post there regularly.

I had a look at the documentation and AFAICT you can only send one MIDI message per song and that message fires on song load. Pretty minimal MIDI implementation. My suggestion would be to SAVE the Helix preset on the Snapshot desired. That way when the song loads and calls the preset it's already in the correct Snapshot. But if you need to change the SS during the song you're SOL.

CC#69 Value 0-7 will select snapshot (1-8) on the loaded preset.

This is a user-to-user support forum. Nobody from L6 hangs out here. Most of what you mentioned can already be done with Helix. Based on the official L6 videos released so far, the rest should be possible. Lots of stuff will be happening over wireless, maybe BT too. Watch the videos. Everybody here is just guessing. I recommend that you check in over on The Gear Page in the Digital & Modeling Gear Forum. You're more likely to find the L6 guys over there than here. In fact, Eric Klein (aka Digital Igloo), the bald guy in the videos, is over there most every day.

As I understand it (minimally), there's a "push-pull" relationship between the speaker and an amp's output transformer called the "Speaker Impedance Curve" (SIC). Helix amps have a baked-in SIC that does not vary with the cab/speaker choice? Stadium will have a more realistic simulation of this interaction. This is something that the Fractal kids have had for years, and is also implemented in Fender's Tone Master Pro. IDK if it's a TONE thing or a FEEL thing. If anybody here has a Fractal, please chime in!

Yes, he said that, referring also to Variax users. It was in one of the intro videos while talking about the back panel I/O and how, to accommodate us, we could buy an add-on box called the D10, which will connect to the new NEXUS port and work with Powercab and Variax and also act as an 8 channel expansion for those of us who have AIs with optical ports. It wasn't "tongue in cheek" but it was definitely "roll eyes".

The presets are just speaker emulations in different combinations. It takes a second to set them up in HXEdit. I actually find that easier than remembering which preset is the combo I like. But yes, why you can't send MIDI over L6 Link is a mystery, along with why no Global EQ over L6 Link.
-
Probably not, but considering DI's reference to "Our loyal Powercab users", MAYBE they'll finally revisit the line and give us an update, maybe some more/improved speaker emulations? Not gonna hold my breath, but I am interested in whether or not the Stadium presets will support L6 Link control (through the D10) as the Helix does. If not, what would be the point of getting a D10 relative to the PC+? We'll see as more details are released.

This is a user-to-user support site. Nobody from L6 hangs out here. If you watched the Livestream then you heard DI say that Helix will NOT be discontinued. It will remain in the line at a lower price and continue to receive updates AND new features. How long that will last is anybody's guess, but considering the above and the price gap between the Helix and Stadium models, it sounds like they expect continued sales. Plus, I expect that they'll sell boatloads of the Stadiums (already told my SW Rep to put me down for an XL) and that should allow them to hire enough people to support both platforms. I expect that a VST version will be along in due time, as DSP was never an issue in that environment, and it's certainly been a selling point for Helix. I'm betting that the new profiling system will blow everything else out of the water! I've got nothing to profile, but the market for pro-made captures will no doubt be HUGE! Everybody is going to want in on that!

Seems like it. Maybe try contacting BOSS support? Maybe there's a setting in the RC that you're missing?
-
Do you have 2 switches, one set to TIP and the other set to RING? Based on your screenshot, one of those should work set to MOMENTARY. Polarity setting is unclear. HXS specifies this setting for BOTH FS and EXP. Helix only specifies EXP. You can try it, I could have missed it or it could just be an oversight in the Helix documentation.
-
IIRC, supposedly, this can be done using ASIO4ALL, but IME (years ago) it sounds awful, the latency is unacceptable, and you lose other features of native drivers.
-
Change DISPLAY SETTINGS>SCALE AND LAYOUT to a higher setting. This affects all of your apps, but it's all I can think of besides changing the screen resolution, which never looks right.

ASIO requires using the same ASIO device for both Input and Output. You can connect your speakers to the Cat's HP Out and put the Cat in MUTE mode, but if you want to play along/record simultaneously your guitar will then be routed to the speakers. You can't separate the playback/direct monitor functions. You need to get a separate Audio Interface and use its ASIO with the speakers connected to that AI and record from the Cat's XLR/DIRECT Out.

ASIO requires using the same ASIO device for both Input and Output. You need to either connect your speakers to your Helix or get a separate Audio Interface and use its ASIO with the speakers connected to that AI. Which way you go becomes a matter of physical device placement. To get a DI track in that scenario you place a SEND Block first in the signal chain and take that to a separate Input on the AI, along with the Main Out(s) to another Input(s) for the processed signal.

This is the name of the MAC OS file that DL'd when I tried it from my Linux machine: HX_One_v3.81.0a_0x48b35211.hx1f Try again? Line6.com>DOWNLOADS>HX One>Firmware>macOS

Global Settings>Footswitches>Stomp Select. Set that to TOUCH. If that doesn't fix it you may have to perform a Factory Reset. Don't forget to BACK UP first!
