If you read my post above where I describe my configuration, you'll see that I have 6 Ampero Banks corresponding to the 6 Catalyst Banks. The Up/Down function (pressing 2 switches concurrently) changes the Ampero Bank, and FS 1/2 selects the A/B preset in the corresponding Catalyst Bank. FS 3 is the Boost and FS 4 is the FX1 Bypass. Thus the Cat's 2 button FS is unnecessary. The Ampero is quite small and should fit comfortably on a small pedalboard with 4-6 mini-FX pedals. The PodGo does not have the same MIDI power as the Helix Floor/LT, and much less than the Ampero. It is not a MIDI CONTROLLER, rather it is designed to BE CONTROLLED via MIDI. I suggested the HXFX because it IS A CONTROLLER like the Helix Floor/LT and takes the place of the "old school" pedalboard AND the Ampero. Trading up to the Cat100 eliminates the need for the iPhone as HOST. You just run a standard MIDI cable from the Ampero or HXFX to the Cat. NOTE RE GOOGLE AI - Robots suck. They don't know as much as they think they know, and their answers are dependent on your questions. They have no life experience which might allow them to interpret/intuit what you might really be asking. Don't trust them!

The difference is 6lbs. That's A LOT less than the difference between the Ampero Control and the FCB1010, and the Ampero Control is more powerful and simpler than the FCB1010 in either it's stock or UNO configuration. You'd have to move up to UNO2 to match power, and trust me, as I have both, the Ampero is a MUCH better, smaller and cheaper bet. Needing to use the iPhone as host vs the extra 6lbs of the Cat100 is another tradeoff, but not essential. Don't get me wrong, my having a Helix Floor AND Cat100 solves any logistical/performance issue I've ever encountered or can imagine, but if money is an issue, the Cat60/iPhone/Ampero will get the job done. You've already acquired the "old school" board for the couple of extra FX you might need in front of the Cat with its delay and reverb, all you really need is the Ampero to make it all work together.

Well, the first thing you're missing is that you don't have 24 presets, you have 12: 1 A/B; 2 A/B; 3 A/B; 4 A/B; 5 A/B; 6 A/B Those are called using MIDI PC#s: 1/2 (1 A/B) 3/4 (2 A/B) 5/6 (3 A/B) 7/8 (4 A/B) 9/10 (5 A/B) 11/12 (6 A/B) PC# 0 calls MANUAL Mode. You can have any combination of amps, FX and settings in each preset, but there's only 12 presets. The REALITY is that L6 is not spending a lot of time developing for the Catalyst, and there will not (IMO) be major changes to the OS such as saving FS configurations per preset. That is what MIDI is for. The Hotone Ampero Control + iPhone solves all of the FS configuration problems inherent to the Catalyst line. I described the configuration above. It works great. What are you waiting for? FWIW - IDK what all you've got on your "old school" pedalboard, but odds are good that you could have lots more in a lot less space for not much more $ with a used HXFX. And you wouldn't need the Ampero - HXFX has MIDI, though you still need the iPhone as HOST. Just sayin'...

In HX Edit, just grab the MIXER Block and pull it down. However, since you need to add a block of some sort to create the split in the first place, that's really rather pointless/redundant in this scenario.

I'm not quite sure what exactly you are after, but I'll assume that you want to send a MONO signal to your amp's RETURN and a STEREO signal to FOH. The attached example preset sends all of your FX to both the amp return and FOH. The amp return is fed by the SEND L (1/4" TS cable from SEND to AMP RETURN) on PATH B. The STEREO signal is collapsed to MONO and NOT passed back to PATH A. The complete STEREO signal is sent to FOH via the MAIN L/R Outputs. I've used a Ping-Pong delay so that you can hear the effect of panning the DUAL SPEAKERS hard L/R. Obviously, having been collapsed to MONO, you won't hear the Ping-Pong effect through your amp. nick8623.hlx

Step 1 - open HX Edit and check (? icon>ABOUT) to see that Helix is on v3.80 and HX Edit is v3.82. Step 2 - check that your physical wiring is like this (all shielded TS cables): Guitar>Helix Input>Helix Send 1>Amp Input>Amp Send>Helix Return1>Helix L/Mono Output>Amp Return Step 3 - Load the attached example preset. FS2 should toggle between the Helix amp and your physical amp. 4cm.hlx

That question can only be answered by someone from Line6 Support. This is NOT Line6 Support. This is a Line6 sponsored user-to-user support forum. No one from Line6 hangs out here. MY question to YOU is, are YOU having a problem? Have YOU contacted support and worked with a support rep to solve YOUR problem? OR is this a rhetorical question designed to stir the pot?

IIRC, when I used my HD500X as a MIDI Controller I assigned the FS as BYPASS for a "nothing" block - something which had no tonal impact regardless of state. Been a long time, but I probably just used a GAIN block set to 0db.

Hx Stomp sending midi note message + snapshot change possible?
rd2rk replied to valeriodaniele's topic in Helix
If your external sequencer can use a CC in place of a NOTE, then you can assign it to an "Instant Command", which sends on Snapshot Change. Ableton and Reaper can do this, but IDK about HW sequencers or whatever you're using. Unfortunately, you can't assign NOTE messages to Instant Commands. -
Ok got it! Yes, you are correct. Not being a paper-and-pen kind of guy, the only way I can work with IRs on the PC is to run PC Edit concurrent with HX Edit. Ultimately, I came to the conclusion that I prefer using the cab sims for most purposes. If I want to use IRs I just load them in Helix. Until the recent new high-gain/high dsp amps this was not a problem. I don't often go that way, but I guess I'll just have to use both editors, because Line6 isn't ever going to do anything in the way of improving on the Zombie-ware PC+ line. Too bad. Some people hate them - I think because they never took the time to learn how to use them. I have a love/hate relationship with my PC212+. Currently we're trying to make it work again.

Modified 4cm preset attached. 4cm.hlx

Did you check that Global Setting that I mentioned?
-
Probably the treble checking the cables part. See the illustration on page 9 of the 3.8 manual. To use a simple loop, a 1/4" TR cable is all you need. SEND>AMP INPUT>AMP SEND>RETURN L/MONO. If you're using the second loop the only thing that changes is that you use a 1/4' TR Cable connected to the RIGHT side of a TRS cable connected to the SEND. LEFT is always Loop 1. Also, check that Global Settings>Ins/Outs>Return Type = Return. Attached example preset for clarity. This is how I've done it hundreds of times. . 4cm.hlx

I don't have an HXS, but it looks like all he did was put in an IR Block, pulled it down to create PATH B, then he pulled down the MIX Block to complete the split, but the rest makes sense - PAN PATH A full LEFT/1 which completes the 4cm and pan the PATH B/2 full right to prevent FB. In his video he left out the "pulled down the MIX Block to complete the split". Is the HXFX not allowing you to pull down the MIX Block?

"The site has issues" is not the same as "The SW has a bug". In ANY CASE, contact support. That's what they're there for!
-
Whatever floats yer boat! The rest of us are rockin' 3.8! Which means that it's NOT a bug and shouldn't be posted here. You're not still running Win7, are you? Of course, you COULD contact support. That's what I'd do, but I got no problems with the update. You're Welcome!

Yes.
-
OR - you could make believe that you live ITRW but have access to all of the physical gear that's in Helix. Imagine yourself connecting all of that cool gear in any way you like without ever having to worry about cables or connecting something in such a way as to cause the magic smoke to escape from your $5000 amp! Think of all the FUN and ADVENTURE you'd have and all of the cool things you'd learn! Old school! Google "<Your Favorite Guitar Player>'s rig". They didn't need no stinking presets! You know what they sound like, you have (most of) the gear. GO FOR IT! BE BOLD!

The CX is just a Cat with some cosmetic differences and the FW pre-installed vs having to do a FW update to get the new features on the original Cat. So, yes, it will work fine, but still requires a HOST.
-
No. USB requires a HOST, which is the function of the iThingy. Any laptop will work too. AUM routes the signal through from the Hotone to the Cat. On a laptop you could use MIDIOX (there's also a MAC MIDI utility, don't recall the name) or any basic DAW for routing.
-
Hotone update! I finally got it working. It seems that it had formed a secret tryst with my studio laptop, though I don't recall ever enabling BT on it - did I mention that I HATE BT!? It still won't pair with my iPad, but it does pair with my iPhone. Go figure! The SW offered the option to update the FW, which I did right away. Programming it was a breeze, and it works great over USB - Hotone>iPad>AUM>Cat USB. I set up seven banks, one for each amp "category" plus MANUAL. FS1/2 = Channels A/B; FS 3/4 = BOOST/FX1. I always have a reverb on, so the four switches are perfect! Of course, my Cat100 also has standard MIDI connectors, so that's what I'll use should I ever feel like leaving my Helix at home. Bottom line - as long as you can get a device to pair with it, it's easy to program, and you can use either iOS or Android (I'm told). It works great with AUM, probably other MIDI routing apps too. AUM is the one I have, and since it's also a multi-track recorder and AU Host, you can add a Drum plugin and record along with drums. Way cool!

In HX Edit, open the SETTINGS (gear icon at lower left)>Device Settings. IDK for sure how they need to be configured for that device, I use an ME SP1-L6 Exp Pedal instead of a switch. Hope you bought it somewhere with a good returns policy. AFAICT from trying to get help with the POS Ampero Control I bought last week, their support people have never responded to anybody. Headed back to Amazon...

Just wanted to clarify - the HP OUT is stereo, the amp is MONO.
-
Phil is a long-time L6 insider/beta tester etc. This is documented elsewhere, but you'll need to search for yourself. Yes, I own a 100, and it IS stereo. If you own a 60 and it is NOT stereo...well, there ya go! EDIT - I guess I can't link you to another forum. Keep searching or ask @phil_m
