  1. I mention it because it can cause the exact issue that you have. If the proper signal never reaches the signal chain, nothing you do afterwards will help.
  2. Make sure that the compressor on the Input block is set properly before adding a compressor anywhere else in the chain.
  3. In addition to what @silverheadsaid, keep in mind that you have a limited amount of DSP available. IRs eat up a lot, and even if you use the lowest DSP amps you'll be lucky to get 2 stereo delays, and even then your choices will be very limited. In any case, you only have 1 Stereo FX Loop. Here's a link to a list of DSP allocaations for the Helix FX: Helix DSP Allocations – BenVesco.com Store
  4. Helix Input should be Instrument. Is the Syn 2 Input intended to be used for guitar? Then set that Helix Send to Instrument. The rest should be Line. TIP: If the FX Loop seems noisy, try using Send 1 and Return 2. This requires using separate Send/Return Blocks but has worked for me in the past. If you go that way don't forget to set the Dry Thru on the Send Block to -120db or whatever all the way left is.
  5. @silverheadI'll bet you know who the admin is and how to get in touch - please pass this on!
  6. If you're plugging your guitar into the Helix input it should be Instrument. If you're plugging the line out from a preamp into the Helix input it should be Line. If you're using some crazy complex routing scheme with switchers and A/B boxes you'll need to be more specific.
  7. I don't see why it wouldn't work. Be sure to assign the Helix Volume knob to your 1/4" Out so you can use it to control the level to the LB without changing the signal to FOH.
  8. When you change Snapshots it's loading the value SAVED in THAT Snapshot. If Global Settings>Preferences>Snapshot Edits is set to RECALL, then when you return to the edited Snapshot it will RECALL your changes, but when you change a parameter in a Snapshot the parameter only changes for THAT Snapshot, not ALL Snapshots. That's how it works, not a "bug". Snapshot Bypass ONLY affects the Bypass state of a Block. When ON if you change the Bypass State then change to another Snapshot it loads the SAVED Bypass state. When OFF the change is retained regardless of the SAVED Bypass state. Having an option to apply Snapshot Bypass functionality to Parameters has been requested on Ideascale. Go there, search for "Snapshot Bypass" and VOTE for ALL of the entries pertaining to Parameters. https://line6.ideascale.com/a/login
  9. WOW! So, we couldn't tell you how to fix your personally customized Windows 11 (a pretty new OS) configuration, so we must be jerks. Don't let the door hit you in the a$$ on the way out and PLEASE don't come back! You're WAY too advanced for us poor hillbillies!
  10. Are these standard optimizations or the sort of DEEP optimizations that involve turning off services and registry tweaks? If DEEP, then might these optimizations be part of the problem? I'm sure MS doesn't take music production tweaks into account in updates.

    Do you believe in magic?
  12. Glad you removed the "Trolls" comment. I still don't get how you can tune even one string while playing without muting the tuner's output. I think @silverheadnailed it - you need an external tuner.
  13. Well, I THINK this is a private message, though it says public. I'm confused.

Anyhow, not to give you a hard time, but it might be a good idea not to make fun of posters within their threads.

Yep, lots of weirdos hereabouts. I like to think I'm here to help, they make it hard enough without us laughing in their faces.

PM me (whatever that means) to have a laugh.

    Thanks!

      Hi,

Hmm... not quite sure how to respond to this.

I'm with you on the trying to assist people with genuine issues, and along with you, and several other regular contributors, we have tried to do our best, even to the point of translations through Google when necessary. A real United Nations of Support.

Then we have the complete ignorance of some people, who spend a not inconsiderable amount of money on a  somewhat complex piece of kit, but cannot be bothered follow simple instructions or to read a manual? It's beyond me, and judging from the amount of times you have had to respond to a ridiculous query with "RTM" (not even RTFM), it is beyond irritating.

I dread to think what is going to happen when the v3.20 firmware hits the streets - are you going to be ready for another onslaught of lunatic cries of "update bricked my Helix". I replied to another one of those failed updates yesterday with my " I said I was going to stop doing this, but here ya go!". Looking back, it seems I have been using that line in my replies to resurrect "dead" units for the past couple of years. It seems people are just incapable of finding any previous posts regarding this sort of stuff - now it's really become tedious.

Possibly, instead of Line 6 letting this place run itself, along with a little light policing from "siverhead" and "phil_m", they should use some full time administrators to organise the stuff in here, so even the most feeble minded halfwit could find a solution that had already been posted several time before.

Now, when it comes to "not to make fun of posters", we are both the in the realm of "three score years and ten" and with old age comes the chance to rip the lollipop out of fools who are generally fully deserving of it. How many times to we see post claiming "this new tech is too much for me", more than likely posted by some young whippersnapper. It's shame that "criusinon2" seems to have been laying low for a while, because he could always be relied upon for a scathing response to idiotic questions.

One of your recent replies made me grin -
Poster:- "Hello, how to download preset from Spider IV to the Helix?"

You:- "Do you believe in magic?

My wife says she is going to buy me a T-Shirt bearing the slogan "My people skills are fine - It's my tolerance to idiots that needs work"

Oh - I don't care if this is public or not - my opinions remain mine.

Regards from one cantankerous old man to another.

      ;-)

  14. Helix's tuner is designed to protect the world from players who think that the audience WANTS to hear them tuning up. I don't get it. When would it be "useful to have the tuner visible on the screen while we play normally"? How is it even possible to tune while playing normally?
  15. Glad it worked for you but why do you say that it's unreliable compared to Block Bypass?
  16. By using the Master Volume on the amp. Note my comment on the LOCATION of the Master Volume in the circuit. I'm not familiar with your no-model-specified Vox, so I don't even know if it has an FX loop or where the Master Volume is located in the circuit. Instead of hijacking this thread, start a new topic and describe EXACTLY your amp and configuration. While you may have provided that info in one of your many other threads, having it all in the thread I'm working on is helpful.
  17. The Volume Knob on your Helix is actually an attenuator. Dimed (or disabled) is UNITY (0db). You don't need it IF the Eg's Master Volume is after the Return. That is, it's actually a power amp level control. That's how my Tweaker worked, and I just took the Helix Volume knob out of the equation by assigning it to something other than 1/4". That way all the gain staging adjustments are in the FX and as long as you're not overloading the FX Loop (has its own send/receive levels) you're good. Simple is better.
  18. In Command Center, where you assigned the MIDI Command to the FS, at the bottom of the Parameters Pane, where it says "Switch LED"...
  19. Assign the Output Block's PAN parameter to the FS. Set MAX (LED ON) to LEFT 100. Set MIN (LED OFF) to CENTER. When the FS is activated the signal will be panned full left, effectively muting the right amp.
  20. Why do you think that you're on Bank 5 if the presets are 03A-03D? There are 32 banks of 4 presets in each setlist of 128 presets. 32*4=128. Bank 1 contains presets 01A-01D Bank2 contains 02A-02D ... Bank 5 contains 05A-05D ... Bank 32 contains 32A-32D If Preset Mode is set to 8 Presets, you're seeing 2 banks at a time, 1 bank on the Top Row and 1 bank on the Bottom Row. Capiche?
  21. There are many places to control Output Level. If by "Mixer" you are referring to the "Mix Block" where a split rejoins the signal path before the Output Block, and you normally control the level by MIDI at the Mix Block, then assign a FS to the Output Block Level. If I am incorrect, attach a sample preset so I can see what you've got going on.
  22. Global Settings>Footswitches>Up/Down Switches Set it to BANKS (Page 1, Knob 5).
