  1. I certainly have enough options for cabinets. I have a Blackheart 1x12 loaded with an EV. A 1x12 loaded with a Celestion Rola G12–80. A 4x12 Mesa Engineering cabinet loaded with v30s. And a 2x12 cabinet loaded with G12T – 75's. If I'm not getting a good sound out of any of these cabinets, there must be something wrong with me. LOL.
  2. Trying to dig up the page I found it at.. I will post it as soon as I do find it. I saw high 40's low 50's in weight.. When you compare it to other keyboard amps.. It is lightweight in comparison.. As other keyboard amps in its class weigh upwards of 60+ Lbs. I don't have the DT25 Combo, either.. I have the head, because It's lighter.. And I'm using extension cabs. When I do gig with it.. I'll have a 1x12 ash cab with a neo speaker. It comes in at 26 lbs. I guess to most, even 45 Lbs for an amplifier isn't too heavy. I'm my case, I max out at around 30 Lbs with my back issues.. Which is how much the DT25 Head weighs. I spent 2, couple hour sets with the DT25 today.. Still searching. I still really want to like it.
  3. Thank you for all the hints and tips. I put some of them to use today while I was tweaking around. While I'm still not really happy.. I wasn't as disgusted as I was last night.. So that is a step forward. @iknowathingortwo - My Mesa is smaller than the DT25. :D It's a little 22 watt 1x10 combo. I scrapped the idea of the new Behringer keyboard amp. Too heavy.
  4. Hey, I know you from somewhere! Lol. I responded over on TGP.. I have tried every mix you can think of as far as settings. Also tried running it through a 1x12 EV Cab, 1x12 Celestion Rola G12-80 1x12, G12T-75 2x12, v30 4x12.. No luck yet. I only have the DT25 Head. When I plug direct into the head with my guitar.. It sounds great. For some reason, when run through L6 Link and the 500x.. It just isn't doing it for me.
  5. I'm not sure exactly how to explain it. I've spent the past 5 hours messing around with it more. It just seems like It's missing some mojo or something. The bummer is, that I REALLY want to like this amp. I've tried the setup with a variety of guitars with different pickups etc.. And still, to no avail.. Can't get it to sound like I'd like it to. I tried it at bedroom levels, gig levels, louder than gig levels.. And, nothing. Perhaps It's just not for me.. Because the amp itself is absolutely fantastic. I plug straight in and I can get great tones all day long.. Plug in the HD500x for effects only.. And It's great. But I want to use the 500x as the preamp and It's not letting me do that, tonally. Again, it sounds absolutely fantastic with my Boogie.. So I don't know what gives. In any event.. I'll be spending the day with it again tomorrow. I have about 13 hours invested into it thus far. I'll probably turn that into 20, in the next 24 hours. If this means anything.. It almost feels like It's lacking that.. Hit you in the chest factor. My Boogie gives me that with the 500x in 4cm while using 500x preamps.
  6. I'm less than thrilled. I'm using it paired with a Blackheart 1x12 with a 70's EV. I've spent a total of about 8 hours on it between yesterday and today so far and haven't found what I'm looking for paired with the 500x via L6 Link and 4cm. I'm having better luck thus far, running my 500x through my Mesa Subway Rocket 22 using the 4cm. I spent quite some time researching the forums here and am positive I have it set up correctly. Any tips? So far, I'm not convinced on keeping it.
  7. I was surprised with the results of the Spider, honestly. I knew I liked it on paper. Especially with the Shortboard. Andertones has a practice amp shootout that I loosely made opinions with.. They used a smaller Spider, Mustang, Cube, and (I think) Vox (I don't remember the fourth). I remembered liking the functionality of the Fender and Spider the best out of the four.. But liking the sound of the Cube the best. In my case here for my Nephew, though.. I wanted to get him accustomed to stomping on things for different sounds. Channel switching, effects, etc. No matter if he continues with modeling or converts to tubes.. The same basic principals are there.
  8. Lol.. I'm far from rich, haha. I saved for a bit so I could buy him this.
  9. That is something I had thought about, for sure. I do have an amp for him when the time is right to give it to him (Mesa Studio 22). I'm sure some effects pedals will end up included with that as I found myself more interested in modeling now (lightweight and portability for my back issues). He jams with some of his buddies now and uses a little Tech 21 Trademark 30 that I gave to him when he started playing. That seems to get him by but I know he wants something with a little more power. I'm sure the 45 watt difference and the bigger speaker will give him that. I just want to make sure that I do my homework and get him the best available option within my budget. Love that kid like he is my own. He's always getting gear from me, haha.
  10. Deciding between a Mustang III and a Spider IV 75 for my nephew. Spent 2-3 hours at GC today side by siding them and still having a hard time. Mustang III would include both 2 and 4 button footswitches. The Spider IV 75 would include the FBV Shortboard MKII. I want him to be able to mess around with turning effects on and off via footswitch, be able to practice channel switching, and various other things that includes working with your feet. He is 13 and has been playing for 1 1/2 years. He is in the High School Jazz Band (early) and loves Metal and Blues. Interesting combination, lol. He has a teacher for his actual playing.. My brother asked me to teach him about tone and things that aren't covered in traditional lessons.. And I feel a modeling amp is a great starting place and excellent to build off of. It'll help give him am idea of what tone he wants to eventually chase after.. OR, maybe he'll end up liking modeling gear.. Like I'm starting to. :D Well, talk me into a Spider! I'll have 3 months to learn the amp, program patches, then show him how to use it when I give it to him for his birthday.
  11. I won't worry much about it then, as I make all of my own cables anyway. It's been quite a few years since I had to buy a cable because one needed to be replaced, lol. I can't wait till it comes in. It shipped this morning. Should be here Wednesday or Thursday. Have been considering a Variax, as well.. But literally all I'd use are the Strat sounds and maybe an acoustic sound. Made the choice to load my Strat with a Piezo pickup instead.
  12. The 500x won't be any further from the DT25 than maybe 10 feet away, tops. I gig bars and coffee houses.. Couple outdoor gigs a year. Nothing too crazy.
  13. I didn't order a DMX Cable.. Should I? They're supposedly quieter, just read about em. I loved my Mesa, but I just didn't use it anymore. It has been sitting (more or less) idle for the past year.. Turning it on every once and a while to make sure everything worked and whatnot. My JCM 800 is up for sale too. Haven't played that more than a handful of times since I bought it. Planned on buying a pair of empty 2x12 cabs for the studio as I have at least a dozen speakers sitting around and a 1x12 for gigging.
  14. I sold my Triple Rectifier Head today. Ordering my DT25 Head on Monday!! So, how much better are these things in conjunction with the 500x than running it in 4cm with a regular tube amp?
  15. There is no xlr out on the Amplifi. There IS a headphone out.. Not sure how that would translate tonally as far as sending it through a DI and to a mixer. I also wouldn't use the Amplifi without having a way to get the sound to the board and FOH. These simply won't cut it if you're facing your amps towards the crowd and hoping that It's loud enough.
  16. I'm getting one for this very purpose. I have mine on preorder and will report back as soon as I receive it and try it. I'm going to use a dual 1/4" to stereo 1/8" and run from the L/R 1/4" to the Aux In.
  17. I think they meant the Behringer Ultratone KXD12
  18. Everything I have heard about is the 150 watt version. 37 lbs is a bit much for me, as well. I have a bad back.. But I think I'm gonna get it anyway. The other solution I was looking at was a Fender Mustang III but that is 35 lbs. Was also looking at the Tech 21 Trademark 30.. 30 watts and a 10" speaker.. Something like 15 lbs.. But I questioned weather it will actually cut or not. The TM60 and PE60 were in the Mustang and AMPLIFi weight range. I'll have to do some side by sides with some tube amps I have to give everyone an idea of what kind of volume it actually does. Gigable and Not gigable really don't cut it for me, because everyone has a different opinion of what an acceptable gigable volume is. I like (and have) a quiet stage. Most others don't. I'll definitely report back once I get mine. I have one preordered through Sweetwater.
  19. Some of it probably has to do with the 5 drivers in it. I'd guess and say that's about 15 lbs of it. Indeed, a class D power amp would have shed some weight.. But it would have probably cost them a bit more to make. I think the 75 watt version should weigh less. It's about 3/4 the size. 8" instead of a 12". My guess is going to be roughly 24 lbs.
  20. What exactly, is this a "step backwards" from? It obviously wasn't suppose to be anything on the "HD" etc etc architecture. So, it can't be a step back from that. It's a different animal than a Spider.. Can't be a step forward or backward from that. Is there any amplifier like this on the market (to this scale size wise)? There is a Vox-thing-a-ma-jig kinda-sorta similar-ish.. But much much smaller. This isn't a step backwards or forward at all. As a matter of fact, It's the first footprint in the dirt. No one can seem to accept that this is a totally new product line.. Not meant to interface with any other product line. To the "Experts". I've been a lurker here for far longer than I have been a posting member. Kudos for 99% of the time keeping your head through a lot of the unnecessary comments that are so often thrown your way,
  21. AmpliFi 150 is 37 lbs. http://www.musicradar.com/reviews/guitars/line-6-amplifi-150-guitar-amplifier-and-music-player-592226
  22. For what It's worth.. I preordered one of these today via Sweetwater and their sales rep said that their phones have been "ringing off the hook" for these and the new Boss pedals.
