    "iloud"

I was checking out the iLoud for a while.. I ended up passing. And I agree that Amplitube is overpriced for what you get. Personally, I use BIAS and Ampkit+ via Audiobus.. Sometimes just Ampkit+. I also have JamUp Pro. I dropped a good $150-$175 in guitar modeling apps. I bought the software instruments in GarageBand, as well. There really isn't a tone that I can't get. If I were doing it over, I'd probably skip JamUp Pro and the $30 in add-ones that I bought and dropped the cash into more of the expansions in Ampkit+. BIAS is more in depth than the HD series as far as the amp modeling goes.. But that's all it does, is model amps. Any how, I just use a pair of cans with my portable DAW (iPad rig). I only use it for on the fly recording and when I'm on lengthy trips. Either way, I won't be in an acoustically pleasant environment, so headphones will sound better. FWIW, Positive Grid just released a new app (the company that made BIAS and JamUp Pro) for mixing/mastering. It's $20.. I'm probably going to buy it.. It looks promising. Also, I thought I might add. I have one of them Blueboards from IK.. It works with JamUp Pro and Ampkit+.. I've used my iPad rig live, before.. It works reasonably well. I even dropped a few pedals between my guitar and the interface.. An MXR DynaComp and a modded DS-1.. Sounded pretty damn good. Used my 4 switches on the Blueboard for post FX Loop effects. The whole rig (besides my monitor) fit in my gig bag. This is my backup rig to my 500x. Just found the right clean amp model (ended up using one in BIAS, then using Audiobus to use Ampkit+ for FX for after the amp). Shut the cover on the iPad and tucked it away in the gig bag with the cables running to it.. And kept the gig bag out of harms way.. Didn't even have to think about the iPad through the night.

    Solo Boost

I use Boost Comp and notice no change in my original tone.
  3. Agreed. In my eyes.. He could have said anything.. It wouldn't have mattered what it was.. It's just the point of it. Show us some love! Hahaha. I can also see why they wouldn't want to show face around these parts.. Although, I'd love to ask them legitimate questions.. And simple yes or no answers would suffice. I'm ultimately keeping my hopes up to see some great new products from them. To me, the AmpliFi is a stepping stone.. And a product to test the waters for new technology integration.
  4. I run mine in combo amp mode when plugging into the front of my Blackheart BH5H.. Sounds decent to me. As far as cab emulation etc.. There is no 'correct' answer. See which one sounds better to you and roll with it.. You might find that some of the modeled preamps sound better with cab emulation and others don't, when plugged into the front of you amp. Best of luck!
  5. It took me the better part of 5 years to source the equipment used at a good price. It's all in mint condition and it cost me less than half the price than if I were to buy new. Rogue Audio makes really nice stuff. Great customer service, as well. And lol @ your comment, haha. My home stereo is the only thing that I take more pride in than my guitar gear, lol.
  6. I haven't yet, no. If it would benefit you if you're trying to run a similar setup, I'd be more than glad to, though. I only have a handful of tones that I use, anyhow.. Only about 8-10 or so. I tend to make my patches multifunctional, lol.
  7. I can agree with more or less, everything on this post. Spot on. I have though, started to give in to the fact that MP3's are today's new standard. Every piece of digital music I own (besides what I have personally recorded) is an MP3 and gets played through an iWhatever. If you think the difference is night and day from an MP3 compared to a WAV on $500 studio monitors.. You should hear the difference in sound through some Klipsch Palladium columns with a Rogue Audio Atlas Magnum stereo tube power amp and an AES AE-3 MKII tube preamp. You'd cringe. I do.
  8. SD Card in the Jamman Looper pedal. Yes, the AUX is passed through clean. My patches sound just fine for what I'm doing running everything through the 500x. I'm using the 500x as more of a preamp for my Piezo pickups in my Strat.. And using it as a preamp for the vocals, as well. My patch is set up as a dual-path preset with one side set for the XLR and the other expecting my guitar signal. I get good results, personally. Everything is clean as it should be. The 500x acts as my "micro mixer" and eliminates my need for a mixer for solo gigs. It's extremely convenient.
  9. Alesis M1 Actives are actually pretty decent. I have them in my bedroom studio. They only cost 80 bucks and are easily worth double the price. They also function as an audio interface but I don't use them for that as they're only USB 1.0.. But to most people, that wouldn't matter. I tried them out as an interface and they worked just fine. I was only able to tell a difference on my reference system when playing back recordings. Great little bedroom monitors.
  10. If you're savvy at creating drum loops on a computer.. You could to the same thing with a Digitech looper pedal without all the tapping on the footswitch. That's usually what I do.. But I'll make the entire backing track.. Load all of my tracks up on the SD card.. And I'm good to go. I usually run it into the aux in on my 500x.. And run my vocals through the MIC in.. Then run the 2 outputs to the back of my one PA cab.

    Out Of Stock?

I wish, lmao. I'd ditch the 500x and buy it in a heartbeat. Not so much for the power amp.. But for the Bluetooth iOS for deep editing. I would however, venture to guess that the Shortboard will see a facelift. I heard the Shortboard MKII is discontinued.. So perhaps a Shortboard MKIII? I can't see them discontinuing it (if it really is discontinued) without replacing it.. It's too necessary for a few of their products.
  12. To dumb everything down.. It doesn't matter what quality the music is mixed to.. If the audience is still listening to the product through 10 dollar headphones.. It won't make a difference.. Especially when 95% of the audience doesn't care what the quality even is.. They just want to hear their favorite tunes being played. I respect what Neil Young is trying to do.. BUT. I don't think it's going to catch on to mainstream use. He is building a portable music player for a niche market. That being said.. I'd buy one.. And I truly hope it catches on. I still have my "hi-fi" stereo setup. It's worth well more than my guitar rig, recording rig, keyboard rig, bass rig, and pa gear combined.. And probably my only hobby that I enjoy more than playing and creating music. So, I'm all for better quality portable music.. But remember, the quality is only as good as what you're using to listen to it with.
  13. I'm doing mostly ambient soundscapes. Just looking for something that will add to that kind of sound.

Bump for a good deal. Had you posted this a month ago.. I would have bought it. Damnit x2. I live an hour north of you, lol.
  15. +1 Don't own one myself.. But well done. This should be sticky'd.
  16. Just wondering how many of y'all are running external FX with your HD500(x).. And what kind of external FX you are running. Have been going back and forth weather or not to buy another decent multi-FX to put in the loop of my 500x.. Was thinking of either a Zoom g5, 11R, or RP1000.. Leaning slightly towards the Zoom or RP.. Leaning slightly towards the RP out of those 2.

    Hd Edit Question

Thats a non issue.. There are plenty of programs that will let you scale a non scalable window to fit size or change resolution.

    Hd Edit Question

This may or may not have been asked before.. A Windows tablet running Windows 8.. Can it run HD Edit?
  20. It'll take you into Rock and Hard Rock territories. It can do Metal, as well.. In my experience with both of them, the HD500x outperforms the 11R when it comes to Metal.. Pretty even ground for Hard Rock and Rock.. Even playing field for cleans.. 11R outperforms the HD500x for Blues. Realistically, they both can and do cover all grounds fairly well.. One better than the other (either one) depending on style. All of that being said.. I have heard some monster Metal tones come out of an 11R.
  21. To be fair.. As far as "gain" goes.. Most Nickelback and Dream Theater tunes are probably close to the same. Tone and technique absolutely varies.. Which is the perceived difference to our ears. I'd like to think that most folk understand that "high gain" is anything "Metal" or heavier. Personally.. It doesn't matter to me weather It's Black Metal, Death Metal, Heavy Metal.. Pink, Blue, Green, Orange, or Purple Metal.. It's still Metal.. And Metal equates out to high gain no matter what shade of the rainbow type of Metal it is. Also, FWIW.. I thought Dream Theater was Prog. Rock and Nickelback was Rock.. Or did they create a few hundred more genres to classify music into?
  22. The 11R is a great piece of equipment. If high gain isn't your thing.. You certainly can't go wrong. Mid gain tones all day long with them, and they sound fantastic doing it. I still am debating on picking one up.. But unlike a lot of people, I'd get rid of Pro Tools since there is an 11R editor now. I prefer Logic. Doesn't hurt that I have one of them Behringer MIDI foot controllers already, too.
  23. After messing around with the one that I bought my nephew.. And I'm loving it. I also get use out of it with my iPad and my iOS guitar rig through the MP3 input.. As well as using my 500x in that fashion. Very good multi tool for me.
