I see this on some presets. It might have to do with something, anything really, assigned to an expression controller. Could be just an external pedal causing it. But it may be any pedal, including the onboard one if you have the floor unit. I wonder if Helix goes through it's pedal auto-calibration routine whenever switching presets? Or maybe it's not to do with pedals at all.

I wouldn't say it's unsafe to leave it powered on continuously, but a concern might be the resulting longevity of the backlights for the main screen and scribble strips, depending on how they are backlit.

Where did the idea come from that hi- and low-cuts are a sudden cut off? Is there any evidence for this? Being able to customize the slopes in the manner you describe above is a good idea.

I don't have active pickups, although they are higher output, and at the height I like them I have to turn pad on or I'll sometimes get clipping on the input depending on how hard I strike a string.

Yes. Two Panamas with identical settings except slightly different drives. One 26 and one 30. I've noticed that you can get different tones with this amp - subtle but noticeable - just by setting the drives different.
-
Keep the drive rather low, 25-30 (it becomes way too fizzy otherwise), and throw a tube compressor in front of it with zero level and 50-60 threshold. Keep the master DEP around 50. Use dual cabs or mics if you can spare the dsp. I like the blackbacks with the 87 cond and 57 on axis. I'm not really sure if the above would be considered a Van Halen tone, but they are some of the settings I used in one of my songs.

Haven't seen mentioned the pitch block trick. Put a pitch glide in either path A or B, set the mix to 100%, the pitch to + or - 0.1, and pan each patch in the mixer block to 100%. This will add a subtle chorusing effect. Also, if you don't want to waste using a two path option for this, you can put a stereo delay after the mixer, left time 20ms, right time > 20ms, left and right fback 0, mix 100%. These tricks work fairly well for non-live type situations. I don't know how well they work for live use, particularly if the system you're going through is mono. But if it's stereo, it would produce a similar effect to the clip joel_brown above posted.

Leave PAD turned on, and when you want to effectively turn it off, turn on a gain block set to +6dB as the first in the chain. I'm not certain if 6dB is the amount pad takes away when turned on, but it's probably around that amount.

HA! You missed! Another round might be coming though, so you have another chance.

This is only further evidence that Zeus is trying to stay hidden by techniques of obfuscation, because I suspect you're actually Zeus, and not just playing the Zeus role, as you say. Furthermore, I suspect you, Zeus, are from the future, as I already mentioned, and need to stay hidden because you may be considered a criminal from whatever time you come from. The crime may have something to do with violating whatever laws there are regarding time, interference, and knowledge gained for personal use, particularly knowledge in the use of stringed instruments. But I better cool it, because I think I'm angering Zeus right now as there is wicked line of Zeus storms (thunderstorms) right outside my window currently Sorry Zeus.

But this presumes that Zeus is really a deity that requires believers. It could be that he's really nothing more than a time-traveler himself, like yourself, from a time you've not been to yet, sometime in your future, and only pretends to be a deity from ancient human history to avoid scrutiny.

No great matter. Go back to when he was a young child and suggest strongly to him that hurghanico gets to always live and to always tell him anything he ever wants to know. Influencing the mind of a child should be rather trivial for one that time travels, especially since the one doing the suggesting would be someone close to him that he trusts (I assume when you time-travel you're not actually physically traveling but only sending your "mind" to temporarily occupy another's since you're seeking to transport physical objects, and obviously yourself is a physical object). The date of him as a child seems to be obscured somewhat, so that could take a bit of effort. But once you find when he is and prepare him, then you can go back to a time when he has the knowledge you're looking for and he will readily tell you.

This is the first setting I've always changed on the HD. And now Helix. Blinking lights suck and can cause seizure activity!

@BillBee: Bigger version of the generator: You sure it was Russian? And is this the Alien? Or this? @hurghanico: You've got to figure out a way to transport physical objects from the time periods you visit. Since you visit these times and places, perhaps Zeus may be of help if you can contact him... That Cretan style music is very interesting and has a certain hypnotic quality to its rhythm. @cruisinon2: Actually, a guitar pill might not be so far-fetched, but might take a form similar to The Matrix style, so with any luck Pfizer can be kept out of it at least. And hopefully 'Murica! too.

Did the logo look the same? I hope they had a better way of powering it other than Gilligan's Island style. I hear magic hadn't died out yet during that time.

If you could shorten your timescale a bit, you could maybe experience one of these: http://www.bbc.com/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-17537147

Expression Pedal Toe Switch apparently doesn't switch between Exp1 and Exp2
duncann replied to billbassler's topic in Helix
It could be that the floor unit lacks the jack for the toe switch, where the rack unit does not. The pedal itself will work with floor unit, but it's impossible for the switch part of it to control Helix's toe switch. -
What ever happen to the idea that if you want to learn to play the guitar, just pick one up - a real one - and have at it? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fMq2sTeEb4w

I don't seem to have much of a problem with the tracking. But if you do, try to stick to single notes. The pitch effects in Helix aren't polyphonic. Maybe the tracking will improve in a future update, because they already updated the pitch formula in 2.0 and reverted back to pre-2.0 with the 2.01 update since people were experiencing problems with it. Other ways to improve things: a personal preference for me would be to set the mix on the pitch block to a max of around 70%, just to have a little unprocessed signal. It might also help to mask any bad tracking, to a point, maybe. Note that this would probably work and sound better if you set the interval to an octave. Another thing might be to add a script phase to snapshot 2 and tie the mix to the same expression controller as the pitch block, with a min of 0 and max of 50. Might add a little fluidity.

Glad you got something working for yourself. I really like this Cali EQ cause it allows me to turn the EQ on my bass off and still get very similar results, and without the headache of trying to remember where I turned the knobs on the bass because I usually forget to write that bit of info down. Plus no more guessing when the battery is dying.
-
I forgot to mention that if you use the Cali Graphic EQ after a cab for boosting the low end, it's probably a good idea to decrease the bass control on the amp. I find that the Cali EQ provides a less muddy, flabby, boomy, pick your word, low end than an amp generally does. It works good for guitar too, not just bass. I'm really glad Line 6 decided to make an effect block out of this EQ from the Mark IV amp when they added that amp in a recent update.
