  1. The 80hz band should go from -13.8dB to +13.2dB. Don't know what could be happening to make it do what you're seeing. Perhaps switch to a new preset, add the EQ to see if it still is only -6dB. If that doesn't work, maybe try a global reset: http://helixhelp.com/pmwiki.php?n=Main.ResetOptions

    Windows 10 issue

I've never encountered this problem with the non-upgraded anniversary version. However, I do have secure boot disabled. https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/windows_hardware_certification/2016/07/26/driver-signing-changes-in-windows-10-version-1607/
  3. Anything could happen. If you spent a lot of time on your presets, don't have a backup and something goes wrong, that's not an ideal or even good situation. So if I were you, I'd get yourself in the habit of backing up your presets. Doing this by setlist is fine. You could also backup the presets individually. I do both of these. Maybe backing up by bundle (everything - all setlists) would work for you, but I think most people ignore bundles. Also, make a note of the firmware version used for the backup, for example in the folder name you're putting the backup file(s) in.
  4. The first thing to go when you start chopping an IR is the low end. That's what I noticed when I tried this inside a DAW. But if I remember right, I didn't really start to notice anything until well below 1024 samples. So if you're having DSP problems, changing from a 2048 to 1024 sample IR would be a good place to look first, which won't have any significant effect on the tone. As you use your Helix more and more, you'll start to figure out, or get a feel for, when you might run up against the DSP wall and some things you can to do. Probably one of the most important actions is to split things up between the two processor paths; if things won't fit on path A, move some stuff from that path to path B.
  5. Have a look here: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/effects-controllers/helix/impulse-response-irs-r759 Even if you set the digital output of Helix to a higher sample rate, that's different from the IR sample rate, which would be 48kHz regardless. I don't have any of the Custom sets from Rosen Digital, just the Carvin Legacy and Peavey XXX, which have the different sample rates for the three files located in a folder called 'S-Gear & Other'.
  6. It doesn't really matter because when you import them, they are converted to 16-bit 48kHz. The 3 Sigma comes with different sample rates, but are all 24-bit. Same with Rosen Digital.
  7. Some folks like things simple, some don't I guess. It seems to me that Helix can be simple or complex, or even both at the same time. I don't really see any downsides to the advancement of some core functionality as it has the potential to provide for so much more creativity, way beyond just tonal changes. I wonder what would Jimi Hendrix do with Helix? I do agree that some things could be considered an unnecessary want, such as adding redundant amp after redundant amp, and probably a waste of time too. Unfortunately, amps seem to be popular. Thinking about core functionality isn't as exciting as the prospect of getting a new amp because with that new amp, I just know I can sound exactly like Jimi Hendrix. Well, maybe not. But the next amp? I just know...
  8. As long as the cable is 75 ohms, as bjnette says, or a composite video cable from back in the day, the quality of the cable will make little difference, as the signal is digital. So don't waste your money on anything marketed as better, unless you have something just lying around somewhere.
  9. Given how many parameters there are for all the blocks inside Helix, the state of each block, and the number of combinations all these provide, you could calculate the number of reasons why. In that context, even sixteen seems like a pathetic amount.

    3 OSC Synth

Thanks HonestOpinion for the good suggestions and methods to try with this effect. I'll have to try this effect again one of these days with these ideas in mind. I've occasionally tried getting something worth using, but always went away empty. Hopefully at one point they'll add some worthy filter effects, like a lot of them from the HD. In the meantime, I've stumbled on a way to create some interesting pulsating, brainwave entrainment type effects by stacking some delays (the sweep echo is always great) with very high feedback (100%) in front of some modulations (the new harmonic panner thingy coupled with the ubiquitous vibe) on a separate path from the main signal.
  11. Yes, but it would be helpful if there would be a way to know what the alternate snapshot is without actually engaging it. Maybe there would be enough room to display both snapshots on one scribble strip. Two rows of text, kind of like MODE switch, but make MODE smaller and HOLD TO EDIT bigger, and also gray out the inactive snapshot.
  12. You can do this now. There are global options for the desired layout of the switches for snapshots/stomps/presets and how to use the top and bottom rows. For example, if you want stomps on the top row and snapshots on the bottom row, or vice versa. There's other options too. One benefit of this sixteen snapshot idea is that you can fairly easily access eight snapshots when you're only using the top or bottom row for snapshots (currently four is possible), rather than hitting the bank up and down switches at the same time (which brings up a temporary eight snapshot layout). The downside is you'd have to hit a switch twice to get to four of those snapshots. Probably not that big a deal though, hitting a switch twice that is. Another idea for switch operation for this ideascale entry might be to use the simultaneous press of bank up and down twice. The first time brings up snapshots 1-8, the second 9-16. One other thing to think about is what to do with the scribble strips. If each switch holds two snapshots, would the scribble strip name length have to be increased somehow, to help indicate what the 'hidden' snapshot is? Or would one just rely on brain memory?
  13. @Glenn: MIDI only provides for eight snapshots, unless you're thinking of some alternate method? It's a good idea. The only problem I see is what to do with the LEDs? Possibly just dim and bright states? And for MIDI control with this idea, perhaps keep using the current CC#69, but add new values of 8 thru 15. Values of 0 thru 7 will have a bright LED, and 8-15 will have a dim LED.
  14. Yes, thanks zooey for the heads up. Picked up the Peavey XXX. It works well with the Cali IV Lead. Nice unique sound. I also use the Carvin Legacy from them. Their IRs are very easy to use as there's only three choices per cabinet.
  15. As far as I know, none of the HD devices has MIDI over USB. I know for sure that the HD500 and HD500X do not. And seeing as the HD300 has no physical MIDI ports, any sort of MIDI functionality for this device would be impossible.
  16. Is the focusrite still the default device (the OS default) when you plug in, or turn on, the HD Pro? It could be that the HD Pro becomes the default when turned on. If that's what's happening, I think you can just set the default with both devices turned on and it should be good from that point forward.
  17. This should be no problem. I don't know the specifics of Pro Tools, but make sure you have the drivers installed for both the HD Pro and the Focusrite. In the DAW, select the Focusrite as the device to use. I assume there is a way to select different audio devices in Pro Tools. That's it. To use HD edit, just run it.
  18. Glad it works for you. An additional plus to using this method is there is no need to use the split and merge for one of the paths.
  19. If you're using dual amps, it becomes a little more complicated than just looking at the device's screen: http://line6.com/support/topic/13642-adjusting-amp-dep-with-latest-updates-and-dual-amps/?hl=dual+amp
  20. I use the dual pitch block all the time for a nice wide sounding tone; Interval 2 to +4 cents, and delay 2 to 2.0ms. Sounds great and really nothing to complain about.
  21. In addition to what silverhead said, it would be a good idea to record two more tracks at the same time corresponding to USB7 (guitar by default) and USB8 (mic by default) for the dry tracks.
  22. You shouldn't have to keep the big volume knob from controlling the SPDIF, although you can with the global option, 'volume knob controls'. I have the volume knob maxed when I use the SPDIF and I get decent enough levels. You can also increase the 'digital out level' with the global option. Yes you can use the SPDIF at the same time as the USB.
  23. I'm on Windows 10 and Reaper. What ins and outs you want to use are selected within the DAW. As gunpointmetal pointed out, make sure you have Helix's driver installed. Without that you won't be able to see Helix as a device in the DAW. In Reaper, this is all done in options/audio devices. One Helix is visible in the DAW, you can then select the individual ins and outs per track.
