  1. Calibrate the FBV (see manual). If it's still 'berserk' try changing the ethernet cable.
  2. I assume you mean FBV MkII. Normally, this board lights up the LCD the moment the ethernet cable is connected to a Line6 amp. Try calibrating the FBV MKII (check manual).
  3. I know it works with other amps at the store, but it could be some issue with the physical connection of the ethernet port on your SV head for that cable. Try swapping out the ethernet cable. Also, try calibrating the FBV Express (instructions below from Line6david): 1) Hold D while powering on the FBV. Upon release, the pedal display will read “1â€. 2) Press and hold the pedal toeswitch until the 7 segment display changes to “2â€. This should occur instantly. 3) Set the heel to the heel (minimum) position, press the D button. The 7 segment display will change to “3â€. 4) Set the toe position (maximum) and press the D button. The tuner LEDs above the 7 segment display will light. 5) Move the pedal and verify that the tuner LEDs sequentially turn off as the pedal moves to the minimum position, and refills when moved to the maximum position. 6) Press D to exit
  4. I never had that happen with a SV mkii Bogner outside in the high desert summer heat. It stays on standby for about 1.5 hours prior to down beat for a 4 hour gig. It would be helpful to provide model#, and how it is getting power (straight, power strip, power conditioner, etc...) -Napy
  5. Goochster, I've been gigging steadily most weekends for the past two years with a SV MkII 212 Bogner playing a variety of cover styles that keep the crowd dancing/rocking and the club owners happy with the take. I quickly upgraded from the Express pedal to the Shortboard for two reasons: There is no real work around to accidentally engaging the looper on the Express (old forums have many stories about it), and there is much better control options on the Shortboard. The Shortboard's Function1 button can be programmed as a volume boost for the patch you are currently using. I use it to pump up the volume for solos. This saves a patch in your bank. Program a bank of 4 patches that cover a genre of music. You will have less banks, less stress when a song is called out that is not in the set list, and virtually no tap dancing. Also, if you want to accept a bit of tapping, you can individually tap off effects for certain tunes. Rarely, the looper will engage and the Function2 button will start blinking. You will see it quickly and can easily tap it off. When programming sounds, they should all have near the same volume (Level control is part of the patch). That way, you only need to set your Master Volume and Presence at the gig. -Napy
  6. Eliminate outside issues by disconnecting FBV pedal if you have one, and try a different cable and guitar if possible.
  7. 'Rotary Knob', is not listed anywhere on the amp or in the manuals, but it sounds like you are referring to the Presets knob. Since it was recently acquired, I would try: reset factory: http://line6.com/supportarchivenew/thread/24216 update firmware: http://line6.com/support/page/kb/_/amplifiers/spider-valve/spider-valve-mk-ii-firmware-update-instructions-r111 Maybe the knob will work correctly now?
  8. That can be accomplished in the POD HD desktop. 24 seconds normal, and 48 seconds half speed. It can be switched in real time. Using that at gigs!
  9. AquaRegia, '...odds of finding and fixing a physical problem like that are near zero' Your odds just went up by visiting this forum. '...haven't I taken out perfectly good tubes?' No, because by your own description, it's a 'used Valve Mk I 1x12 combo'. '...so it's essentially irreplaceable if it dies' This is a possibility with any gig. Although the tones may not be exact, always have a backup. Consider something that works with the same foot pedal you already use, like a Line6 Pod HD (plug into PA). I agree with tscoolberth, but just replace the two 12AX7-B preamp tubes in the back. You can do this yourself. I assume you are talking about your SV MKII 1x12 combo. Bad tubes can cause all kinds of inconsistent tonal and volume problems that appear similar to what you describe. (see appendix C1 in the manual http://line6.com/support/manuals/sv112)
  10. About overheating, I can only speak for the MKII Bogner 2X12 (not the head). I've done many outdoor shows in the California high desert with dry temps between 90 and 105 degrees, including a recent double booking at the AV Fair from 3pm - 11pm without any failures from the amp. It was solid.
  11. Matt, I recently posted about the SV Direct out, maybe this will help: http://line6.com/support/topic/3891-whats-the-future-of-spider-valve/?do=findComment&comment=57054
  12. jjack972, 1) Having read other posts on the original SV forum, I remember reading the patches don't transfer. You'll have to reprogram. I'm facing the same issue with SVII to POD HD. 2) Mostly related to worn tubes. Lots of discussion here (see original forum as well). FYI, this SV topic board has much less traffic since Line6 has moved on from SV, so be patient for responses...
  13. SSstormtrooper, yes, but all things break. For backup, I picked up a an HD POD Desktop to plug into the PA just in case... (still works with the FBV floorboards.)
  14. That 4X12 Slant cabinet you mention should be 8ohms to use the single 'A' Speaker OUT. Otherwise I fear you may have blown something in the power amp stage of the SV MKII 212.
  15. That 4X12 Slant cabinet you mention should be 8ohms to use the single 'A' Speaker OUT. Otherwise I fear you may have blown something in the power amp stage of the SV MKII 212.
  16. After reading several topics in this forum about the tubes in these amps, it seems you only need to re-bias the amp if you try a different type of tube. If you replace tubes with the same type that was previously installed, no need to re-bias correct?
  17. Based solely on your description of the problem, I would focus on either a misconfigured POD output setting or a bad cable from POD to Amp.
  18. In my experience, failing preamp tubes will gradually cause less volume and tone over a few shows. Not sure if this is also the case for failing power amp tubes. For this to happen so quickly after testing inside would seem to be caused by something else.
  19. Patgiff, DIRECT OUT/PERFORMANCE: Affected by MASTER VOLUME. (per advanced guide, it 'taps off the power amp transformer'). Not clear what the best application for this would be. DIRECT OUT/STUDIO: Playing LIVE with my SV 212 Mkii Bogner, I always connect the DIRECT OUT using it's STUDIO setting to the PA. This allows all of the preamp's tones, effects, and relative patch volumes to be sent to the PA channel fader (and ultimately the audience). It is a separate feed from the MASTER VOLUME of the actual amplifier. This way I can adjust the volume of the amp on stage without disrupting the mix the soundman gets (Currently me! Double duty..). It sounds great and works out beautifully. It's one my favorite features.
  20. Glad you found that SV, what a deal! I use my SV mkii Bogner for a variety of different cover sounds, but some of the hotter metal tones on it are my favorite. You will find that shortboard saving you a bunch of setup/teardown time for each gig. Just reseat the ethernet connection on both ends if you ever experience anything strange with it on stage. Yes SV is notoriously loud/full. Not sure how it's done...
  21. I plugged directly into the input with a super strat style guitar. The neck and bridge pickups are a bit hotter than the center one. The replacement preamp tubes used are Groove Tubes silver series 12AX7-C, and the stock 6L6 Power tubes. I would think the soonest result would happen at the input processor, but you may be right if those preamp tubes somehow hit the power amp harder.
  22. I've been simultaneously recording both the direct out and a Senheiser E609 hanging to the center of one of the speakers during live shows. It's amazing how similar the direct sound is to the mic'd sound. (svmkii 212 bogner)
  23. OK, I just set up my sv mkII 212 bogner to twang-amber with drive at 2 O'Clock (pm?) and master about 1.5 so that I could sweep the channel volume from lowest to highest. There is most definitely some added overdrive in the sound quality with the increase of the channel volume (and it breaks up nicely). When I cranked the master up a bit to 4, same result (only way louder!). Also, I had recently replaced my 12AX7 preamp tubes this March 2014 so I don't think your tubes are the issue. The amp just does this.
  24. I usually connect it to a computer and use the SV MkII Edit software to access and try those features, because it's easier to see on a big monitor. However, here's some excerpts from the user manuals on how to do that from the controls on the amp: GATE If you press the right arrow from the Reverb screen, you’ll see the Gate screen. Your Gate Mode choices are Off (Gate is disabled), Gate (a standard noise gate), NR (a frequency dependent noise reduction) or Gate+NR (both Gate+NR together). You can also adjust Threshold and Decay settings. Gate parameters are saved with the individual preset. Wah But wait, that’s not all... You’ll also see a new Wah menu where you can now select from among the factory Vetta Wah, and several additional, classic Wah Models! Press the Presets knob to enter Edit Mode and use the L/R arrows on the 4-way Nav Disc to access the WAH menu, found between the BOOST and VOL menus. All the Wah Models are available for your choosing via the Model - Select option.
