  1. I use Studio EQ at end of chain with a boost in GAIN and assigned to FS1 (Stomp) for POD HD+ FBV. I do this for ALL patches. It works great for live when the set list is 'follow me' style.
  2. Maybe a Global Limiter along with the EQ would be an easy way to do it, but then it would color the sound. Although it's a pain, the old fashioned way works well for me when I've taken the time to level all my live banks and patches (5 banks x ABCD). Using an FBV (for POD HD) during the process is a must.
  3. SV MKII sound great, but are notoriously loud (even at low master volume). There are several posts about it.
  4. Those were the days. I used to have 2 ADATs in my studio when they first came out, logged many hours with mainly Rap artists. Unfortunately, I held those machines so long that they became even worthless to ship used. It was a sad day when I took both ADAT machines to the electronics dump... (sorry to contribute to the continual thread hijack) ... Avoided the whole analog tape and ADAT days...
  5. Those are cool! Can they be used for FBV boards? like shortboard, longboard, etc... AND the new FBV3?
  6. If you like the sounds you're getting from the POD HD 500x, then another option is to use a powered speaker like Alto TS110a (or TS112). I'm using a similar setup for practice, jams, and gigs. Very versatile for less and sounds great!
  7. The only official info so far is http://line6.com/foot-controllers/fbv3, but no real specs or technical info is there at the time of this post. Unfortunately, I was unable to spend some time with it at their NAMM booth, and I wish I had done so!
  8. I saw the FBV 3 Controller at Line6 NAMM 2016. It has a Helix look and feel, works with Firehawk, and supports versions of POD, POD HD and Spider Valve. Thoughts?

    NAMM SHOW

They used the Firehawk 1500 amp in 'The Ultimate Stage Amp' event demo which I was unable to attend, so I don't know exactly how it was shown. However, I did attend the morning Helix demo, and it was clearly running direct through FOH Stereo. Very nice playing through many different styles, sounded great! I snapped a few photos of the room and made a collage for you all (see attached). For perspective, as soon as you walk in the door, you experience a nicely lit room with blue hues, but still warm, and you see that Helix rack staring right at you. On the right of the room are the Firehawk amps. The left side leads to the demo stage. I do recall seeing a FBV on the floor, but ran out of time to investigate, sorry no POD info to share. So much to do!

    NAMM SHOW

Quick update from the Line6 room at NAMM. It appears centered around Helix, including rack mount version on floor, firehawk, and the new wireless system. Not seeing too much POD. I'll try and post some photos when I can.

    NAMM SHOW

I'll be visiting the Line6 booth on Thursday 1/21 to find out in person what they're cooking. I'll try to post here.
  12. And I've been using the smaller Alto TS110a in practice and gigs at slightly less cost and footprint with excellent results.
  13. That was a LOT of tones to go through! You know quite a few licks that coincide with the almost-named presets, which I really enjoyed. There were some missing signature riffs that I'm sure we were all shouting at our screens to hear you play, but of course, who can play everything? Thanks for the video!

    New Update

Any announcement about POD HD series at NAMM will cause mixed messages for merchant's purchasing/stocking decisions for 2016. I expect Line6 to go full force toward their future product lines in Helix to solidify their message this year among many other competitors. After the dust settles, THEN they can rekindle older products.
  15. One issue that could creep up is your fellow musicians not hearing, or feeling your playing on stage, so consider their monitoring as well (a topic I posted a while back here).
  16. I appreciate your enthusiasm for Helix, but after you removed it from the plastic bag, we really wanted to see it up close. Camera was too far away, and shaky every time the Helix was moved on the table. Thanks for doing a side by side with the 500X, that part was cool. Also, your voice had a natural room reverb on it, compromising clarity. I'm sure you know better than that, so I hope you use a closer mic on your next video. Aside from my rants, I did enjoy seeing an actual unboxing of Helix. Thanks for the video!
  17. I play live all the time among several genres of music. I'm using patches in ABCD mode, where D is always a dirty majestic lead tone with volume boost (including Wah if needed). I've also assigned one foot pedal button per ABCD patch to a volume boost in case I need a less majestic lead tone. This way, I keep tap dancing during songs on the floorboard to a minimum. This helps me big time since my band does not use set lists, instead reading the crowd response during sets (which also has it's controversial challenges).
  18. My Ibanez S5470 guitar, Mesa/Boogie Dual Rectifier 4x12, Boss Delay, Morley Wah (using light diode).
  19. Good stuff, yes, the Edit app seems to have other settings not seen on the front panel display.
  20. I just tried it on my SV Mkii 212 (same preamp electronics as HD100). I used a FBV Mkii. Loop routing set on POST. Created a loop, overdubbed it with different preset tones while adding Wah. Volumes were all good with or without Wah, Clean, Dirty, etc.. However, I do set my VOL Min and Max to 100 on all patches (effectively disabling volume changes for the pedal). There's no other LOOPER mix settings I could find (unlike on POD HD). Hopefully this information will help you narrow down the problem. Maybe the patch you change to is just louder than the one used on the initial loop?
  21. This sounds like gigs I've done where the venue hasn't decided whether they are a restaurant, coffee house, or live music venue. They always try to force all of those into one. They expect you to make it work. If it's really that small, everyone will need to compromise. Down size the drum setup so you can at least place a small monitor to plug your 500x into (Alto TS110a great for this, also has a direct out for PA). Then, you and the band can hear your guitar. Mains are sometimes the only way to hear the vocals in these situations, which is not ideal, but usually can work in really small 'venues'.
  22. Great troubleshooting flow by Dutchguitarist. Yes, the POD HD Desktop beans get HOT. I have two of them (one as a backup rig). I play live up to 4 sets, some outdoors in summer heat. It's placed in a plastic container next to a wireless reciever, so it get's even hotter. It never fails for heat, so don't worry about that.
  23. I assigned my FBV pedal (Exp2) to a delay feedback block with a minimum value and maximum value. Now when I choose that patch, I can add more delay feedback with the pedal. However, it seems to be active as soon as I hit the patch. Sometimes this is not appropriate depending on where the pedal happens to be at the time. I'm having to bring the pedal back to minimum for the default setting while playing that patch. I'd like to avoid that extra 'step' (see what I did there?) Is there a way to tell the patch to keep the default delay feedback setting I programmed it with, UNLESS I start using the pedal?
  24. I got 4/5 right, but it was real close either way. It probably helped that I just did sound for a show hours before that had two actual guitar tube amps, one a fender delux reverb, and one an orange 2x12. Not so sure I would have done as well had I not had that recent experience.
