  1. Two times that happened to my SV MkII 212. First time it was old preamp tubes (1.5 years heavy usage). Replaced them and master volume at %30 was back to it's usual screaming level. Second time, the little speaker cable connection in the back had somehow popped out just a bit, but still let some current flow to the speaker. Just push it back in right away before a real problem occurs. I would also check with a different guitar or cable just in case it's related to a bad pickup, or dying battery of an active pickup.
  2. I agree with Harty. The Express Pedal simply becomes a MIDI controller for use with apps like Line 6 FBV Control when used with just the USB cable.
  3. AntonisPat, It's difficult to definitively answer your question, (which I feel is more than just a curiosity for you), but with the following info, maybe it will help you find an answer. Resources: Line6 Spider Valve Advanced Guide: http://line6.com/support/manuals/sv112 Preamp Out: Use the Preamp Out to send your Spider Valve MkII DSP Amp and FX modeling output to an external power amp, guitar amp or FX device. Power Amp In – Plug into your Bogner-designed power amp here. ...for example, driving the all-tube power amp. Sv-pre By Strymon http://line6.com/support/topic/1995-sv-pre-by-strymon/ Line 6 Spider Valve MKII 1x12 Combo Amp Review http://www.premierguitar.com/articles/Line_6_Spider_Valve_MKII_1x12_Combo_Amp_Review Preamp Out grabs the signal after the Line 6 modeling pre but before the Bogner-designed tube pre.
  4. Fascinated by this thread/topic, I decided to try a work-around by plugging my guitar into an original powered ART MP tube preamp via quarter inch, then to the SVMkII guitar input. It works, but I felt it lost some dynamics and added a small amount of noise (tried adjusting input/output knobs). My feeling is that it must be an electronically different gain structure than when using something like the SV-Pre.
  5. I'm not using Spider FX Infusion, but I'm having no problems with Spider Valve MkII Edit, Pod HD Edit, and Line6 Monkey using MIDI with my M-Audio DELTA Audiophile 2496 version 6.0.8, Win7Pro64sp1 if that helps...
  6. I know that intro, and it's probably going to have to be a work around. Instead, choose a delay effect that can feedback at the same tempo and intensity of the 16th notes so you can just strum each chord once. If the drummer still can't follow it, when you get to the final two chords, just say a 4 count in a background vocal mic that is piped into his monitor. The audience will only remember how well you played the entire song, so I don't think it will distract them.
  7. Usually, turning the master volume knob quickly demonstrates the power your amp harnesses. Some questions.. Has the master volume ever worked before? Have you tried disconnecting any MIDI and Ethernet connections? Does it happen on all patches? Does another knob take on the characteristics of the master volume?
  8. ajmee, I'm not sure why you need to tweek the settings in a live setting (aside from the presence knob depending on the room). Let the amp work for you. Spend some time to program patches that work for your live sound. Set up a decent portable recorder close to your amp and capture the gig so that you can make changes for the next show. Eventually, you will achieve the sounds you want, and can concentrate on the playing instead of the tweeking.
  9. Use the SV MkII Edit app and connect everything the way you have at the gig (MIDI too so the computer can recognize the SV). See if you can duplicate the problem by stepping through patch changes, and check the app for the volume settings for both pedals. Maybe one patch you are using still has the volume assigned to the shortboard. I used this technique to disengage volume control for the shortboard pedal for all my patches, it's just to risky on a gig if that pedal accidentally gets moved.
  10. Hendrix83, plan for the future. Eventually, you will both need to have some guitar in the PA, especially when you get outdoor gigs. I've learned this while working with a keyboardist in the band, who is always in the PA. I'm running a combo amp with a XLR direct out to the PA.
  11. VinceSoliveri, As confirmation, I listened to your 'clean problems' file on good speakers. The hiss is most definately there, and seems to get worse with each note that you add. Hopefully a solution will show up in these replies!
  12. Sorry toneman2121, let me clarify. I was just trying to let Akeron and Silverhead know that their replies about 'the confusion is caused by...' is the root cause that I thought v2.21 was 'missing', and 'There is no firmware v2.21 for the Pod HD..' as the resolution to my post as solved. Thank you.
  13. Yes, iknowathingortwo, that is why. Thanks Uber Guru for the confirmation. Solved!
  14. I have a POD HD (Desktop) that I cannot seem to update to flash memory v2.21 (Released 10/16/12). I have tried to follow the update instructions from the official release notes page, and I am able to download and install POD HD Edit v2.21, but even the Monkey only sees firmware 2.10 as the newest, so that's what it 'reinstalls'. (see photo) v2.21 appears to be missing. Any ideas on a successful update process?
  15. I don't know what could be causing this (I'm picturing the treble and channel dialers got pulled off and swapped!), but in general, electronics with memory can sometimes do very strange things that make no sense. If this happened to my equipment, I would backup the presets to a new file, and then factory reset it and reload the presets.
  16. Thanks for the review PlusDeluxe, good read!
  17. My SV Mk2 212 Bogner and Mk2 Shortboard has just completed two 5 hour outdoor, hot, dusty gigs in the California high desert at 105 & 109 degrees F in June 2013 (AV Swapmeet at 4 points, CA). I did not experience any equipment problems, so I'm glad my gear survived! It would be great to read about other players experiences with unusual weather conditions here.
  18. Gregadeath, I am also new to Spider Valve and have had to work through these same challenges for performing with tones, volume, and boost (lead). Follow the advice that Uber Guru provided, but you also have another tool for boost/lead tones. Since you have the MKII FBV Shortboard (doesn't work for Express), then you can assign the 'Function 1' button to the 'Boost' (use the SV MKII Edit software to adjust) to add db boost for leads for each preset! After your amazing solo is finished, just tap the preset tone you want to groove with (easier than tapping 'Function 1' to turn off lead/boost).
  19. It's an artistic compromise, but I have had some success by chosing similar amp models for switching presets in one performance/tune.
  20. Just in case, can you check if it happens with a different guitar? I've had a bad pickup exhibit similar intermittent problems in the past.
  21. FX-1 - Red Comp, can really cause the basic controls to have more life.
  22. Please specify which SV you have. I will only comment on the SV MkII (Bogner) here. 1st and 2nd question: No, the effects will be bypassed. [Edit from SV MkII Pilot guide, #14: Power Amp In – ...You can then use the POWER AMP IN either as an input from another preamp or multi-effects unit like the POD X3 Live or as a “series effects returnâ€.] 3rd question: Anything connected to the guitar input will utilize the tube preamp and effects. It's ok to connect guitar style pedal effects to this jack (like distortion, wah, etc..)
  23. One time my SV212 mk2 stopped responding on stage, and it was resolved by reseating the ethernet cable at the footpedal. The fix for that type of issue is hard to recognize as it doesn't seem to be related to a data connection like this.
  24. ...'nothing else works' After checking basics such as power outlet, power cable connections, then maybe a factory reset will get the screen working. *Caution: This will erase any user presets (http://line6.com/support/docs/DOC-4540) The factory reset for the Spider Valve series is to hold the "A" button while powering the unit.
  25. There could be a number of reasons for the popping, and it has been discussed in the original forums. Here's a link searching those forums for it: http://line6.com/support/search.jspa?resultTypes=document&dateRange=all&peopleEnabled=false&q=popping&containerType=&container=&containerName=&username=&rankBy=relevance&numResults=15
