I have been trying to figure out how to use the Fx Loop on the 500X, My undestanding from what I have read is that this possibly is only to be used to route external effects through the send/return ports on the back of the POD. Yes??? Without external effects, Fx Loop is of no use. (?) How would this work on patches downloaded from Customtone that have an Fx Loop in the effects chain? Or is there a way to assign effects within the Fx Loop block from HD Edit or the POD unit? Some patches I have downloaded with Fx Loop in the chain have no sound. Some do. Appears I can turn off or set send/return to 0 to bypass this if there is no sound. Not real sure. Also was reading on MIDI control. Gots my head spinning. I currently use two DT25's for Amp A & B and also use a L3 with I usually have set to MIDI Channel 3, left/right. Really don't know if this is proper but it sounds good. Then I read where pre amps are preferred when using POD with tube amps (DT's). I have many patches with power amp versions and they seem okay. Is this a problem? Other than tweaking DEP parameters. Assistance greatly appreciated!!!

Input for this tone as posted is Variax. I have edited it some since posting. Seems I tweak often. Hopefully it was a good start for this tone. Have been overwriting presets I don't want but like the idea of overwriting with New Tone.

Discussions last week about DEP editing options was really interesting and helpful. SAG, BIAS, mic settings (I certainly wouldn't have ever thought of this one). I feel I am gaining on using the whole dream rig, err... HD500X set up, but feel I am well shy to consider myself experienced or knowledgeable. Have dual HD25's that are singing if I tune them right. Getting there now and it is really, really cool. Really. I was not near ready to make posts to Custom Tone but dd tonight to solicit further discussion on pre vs full amp uses, use of effects loops, and another topic I haven't seen much talk of about use of tap tempo. Also, mainly to see what the floozles I am doing right/wrong. Also am using a L3 in addition to dual DT25's and still not sure, or confident, about setting the mix on he L3. It does sound really good a times. Sometimes very processed. Having some trouble with high E string (#1) sustain/volume (L3 and DT's). The posts on Custom Tone are a dart behind the back. Not sure how ones receives feed back on posts other than # of downloads. That said, anyone willing to offer feedback on posts and another lesson on DEP editing parameters would be welcome to a cold beer or six. Discussion last week was good. Have read it all before but is different when there is a discussion after you have read it at least once.

Anybody have experience with the POD Farm Acoustic? Would you expect it to work well with a pair of DT25's and L3 using a JTV69S? Better acoustic sound?

I've had my dream rig a little over two months now. It is overwhelming at first but you will learn fast. I find the HD Edit manual very helpful. It will tell you how to set and save tunings, fx, foot switches, guitar models, etc. to a preset all by way of HD Edit. But I too am concentrating mostly on the computer and not enough on the POD. It is a lot to learn but it is all there and for now HD Edit is how I am learning. The other thing that has helped probably the most are the people and threads on this forum. Some older posts are really helpful if you stumble on them. Keep reading posts and asking questions. These guys have really been helpful.

The obvious question/answer - I assume you are sending changes in your settings to the DT? Or receiving from the DT if changing settings on the amp? If you make changes in HD Edit and then don't send to the DT they won't be saved as a preset. If it is something not as obvious, not sure I can help.

That was it. Thanks radatats. Now going to experiment with settings on the amp to achieve suggested voicings. Or is my assumption that this is controlled by selected amp models correct? Thanks again for the help. Learning something new quite frequently.

Okay. Just discovered controllers in HD Edit for amp and cab settings (not that they were hidden!!). See SAG, RES and all the others that I haven't paid attention to. Thanks to another thread. Question now is why, if you have two amp/cabs, AMP 2 does not offer editing of amp settings? Amp 1 has amp and cab settings but Amp 2 only has cab settings. Is it me or is this how it should be can anyone help/confirm?

So I got the POD500X, L6 Link and two DT25's (and L3) and did not worry about setting the amp dials as per the settings guide that came with the amp. I have used HD Edit to choose different amp models and have assumed L6 Link would configure settings on the amps(s) as per the chosen amp model. Is this not correct? Unfortunately I have been trying to learn the POD and DT's almost exclusively using HD Edit and think I am missing many features available on the POD itself. SAG, outputs. etc. Would be nice to have even more control with HD Edit. Perhaps I have yet to figure it out.

I have a POD HD500X and two DT25 amps. Does the Mobile Pod app work well with this and what might be the best connection? Through POD or into DT? I had some serious latency issues when using the Mobile POD through Sonic Port with my other amps. Thinking I can use this to help build tones in the POD HD. Or may it be that I just need to use head phones with Mobile POD?

So I have recently purchased my first tube amp. Or two. Have a DT25 combo and DT25 head/cab. Forgive me but what are JJ tubes and can I expect to have to replace tubes in the future? These amps pretty much stay home and are used for practice/hobby/learning this whole dream rig thing. Am learning a lot in a hurry but there is so much involved. Still all very cool!! I did not purchase service plans for any of my new dream rig gear. This is not something I have thought about with having tubes. I am certainly learning something new every day.

Wow! New to dream rig and working on figuring out my dual DT/L3/JTV69S/POD 500X setup. Haven't digested this yet but it is exactly the kind of help I have been seeking (I think). Great info at worst. Likely highly informative and can't thank enough!!! Very cool!

Have been playing around with the HD Edit mixer and guitar inputs. Have discovered another layer of squirreliness. Have been changing the guitar inputs, 1 and 2. Changing both to Variax, combinations of others including Variax Mags, etc. seems to change even the output of the DT's an L at times. Have not worked that out yet. Also have been changing the amp audio and control options in various ways. Channel A, B, A/B, left/right etc. Have tried all three on, say, MIDI 3 and this changes the outputs of the speakers and sound of the guitar. Still working on that as well. At this point, tips or tricks from anyone would be appreciated.

I do not play through my laptop, so, sorry I can't help with that. Was wondering if you would mind sharing your site for backtracks?

So I have plunked, bought into (literally) the whole dream rig. Still in my first few weeks and I too have been all over the map with settings. I have JTV-69S>POD HD 500X>DT25>DT 25 combo>L3t. I have been setting DT25 to Amp A, DT25 combo to Amp B, and L3t as A/B Amp 3. Changing Amp 4 doesn't seem to have any affect. The volume from all three is very unpredictable. Have been using the mixer to adjust the DT's but I have not figured out how to control the mix of the A/B Amp 3. Anyone? I did see another post about updating the amps with MIDI link to USB. I did this and updated both DT's from Flash Memory 1.0 to 2.0. Don't really notice what happened. Have been having fun working on this shtuff but man it is a lot to take in/learn.

1 hour into the 2nd DT25. The 2nd amp helps a lot. DT25 Left, DT25 Right, L3t left-right. Can't wait to spend some time with it. Still need to figure out volume but I'm literally unboxing and plugging in. Really easy to set up with L6 link/XLR cables. Now to work with HD Edit more. Starting point tips on the volume would be appreciated. Pre-amp? Mixer? But how do I set?

I have a second DT25 combo waiting to be picked up. I received the POD and L3t first and loved it. Then cot the head and cab and started having issues. I am hoping the second DT25 combo will help. Am hoping to have a left/right and center with the L3t in the back of the chain as the center. I have downloaded the workbench exchange but and have seen where some people went to considerable effort to help with this but I have yet to figure it out. I do need help with the volume issue. I see others have posted while I'm writing but I'm not losing this again! Cool using this forum.

So Line 6 will now be selling their technology exclusively to Shuriken. I have been wanting one and was ready to order a JTV but now don't know whether to wait. Not sure what Shurikan has in mind in the way of guitar designs. I do know they will cost more. Also want to know if there be firmware upgrades to the new guitars? On the fence on whether to find a JTV or wait.

I was ready to by a JTV-69. Just learned today that Guitar Center will no longer carry the Variax (so I was told when ordering). So now there will be a new Variax coming out? Did I wait too long or time this about right? I have recently all but completed my rig with a HD500X, L3t, and DT25. Need another DT and the Variax.

I want a quality guitar. Is it worth the 3 grand or so? I am not a professional but and avid enthusiast playing for over 40 years and wanting a quality rig. The POD and L3t seem to have been a great start. I do have a budget but don't want to be left thinking how much better it could be. I have a friend who bought an Alvarez acoustic bc he (and I) like my Yairi DY53. Both Alvarez's but very significant difference in quality and sound. I don't want that. If it is worth it, I would lean towards a US. Very much appreciate your reply.

I just bought a HD500X and L3t speaker. Now to get the Variax and DT(s). Can you tell me the difference between the US made Variax and the Korean?

Many thanks for your help. Was wondering if it was in the HD Edit mixer. Hard to try without the amps. No drop D acoustic would be very bad. I like other tunings but double drop D on acoustic is probably my most used. I don't know what you are saying about the pickup swap. How did you hook up with Sean Halley? I am not looking for volume as opposed to great tone. Having the two 12 Celestian's has been driving me towards the DT50. I have assumed that they might provide more flexibility as far as tone. But how much more tone can you get? Maybe go with the DT50/DT25 combo like you have. I have yet to actually see a DT in person so your feedback has been enormous for me. I've only had the POD and L3 for a few days. Reaching the point of information overload, but it is coming together. You have certainly helped. Restored faith in my plan. Likely going to get two DT's.
