But what would we have to worry/whine about then? What if next year's model of the dishwasher I just bought has more buttons, and less latency between the wash and dry cycles. Where will I be then? And how will Whirlpool compensate me? Don't they listen to their customers? !?!?!?!?! ;)

Dig fellas, dig....sometimes they get wedged WAY up in there. ;)
-
Nope.

My mother made me do it...sort of. Summer 1984...I wanted Twisted Sister's "Stay Hungry" album. Dear old Mom took one look at the album cover and refused, lol. I was 11. 4 years, a foot of hair, and countless pairs of ripped jeans later, I joined my first band...still at it. Thanks Mom! ;)
-
Lol....Amen. To the OP: FRFR does kinda mean that you have to make a concerted effort to not suck. ;)

Well I expect perfection, instant gratification, and eternal bliss from every product I buy...regardless of cost or complexity. Manufactures should be able to anticipate my every need and prepare for it as if I were consulted on every step of the R&D process. If not, I will scream from the rooftops about the inferiority of said product, whilst shaming the company publically for failing to meet MY needs, and man will it feel good. Mmmm...Me, me, me, me, me. Me. Did I mention me? Gotta go...need to return some stuff that sucks (worst package of rubber bands I've ever seen, woefully inadequate), and gear up to whine about the new thing I'm gonna replace it with, when I find out that it sucks too...gonna be a busy day! ;)

And you'll eventually get just that no matter which way you choose to go...just a matter of putting the time in. Either method is prefectly valid...it boils down to personal preference. But no amount of guessing, or filtering through others' experiences will help you figure out which choice will ultimately work better for you. We can all rattle on for a week about our rigs, and you won't get any closer to a decision. Sooner or later you'll have to drop some coin on a powered FRFR speaker of some sort, and A/B it with your amp.

It's it not possible to assign clean and dirty tones to the expression pedal within the same patch, and pan between them, as with the 500X? (Forgive me...I'm Helix-less)?
-
I've yet to own any modeler/multi-fx unit that didn't have that "soundless" gap during a patch change. Annoying, but its the nature of the beast...none of them are instantaneous, no matter what you pay for them.
-
LMAO! Ten bucks says he's still pissed, though...;)
-
Amen...the reverse is also true. When you come back to a patch the next day and say "Wow!", then you know you've got a winner...leave it alone! ;)

There's nothing wrong with the Mighty Mite necks. A bunch of guys on here have gone that route, with good results. If you order straight front Stew Mac, they're around $125 or so, last time I looked...give or take a little depending on where you go with a maple or rosewood board. Not sure if they do ebony. The company "CEG Hardtails" that the OP mentioned seems to have access to some of the more "premium" stuff from Mighty Mite, prettier cuts of wood, and they dress and polish the frets, so it bumps the price a bit from what I've seen on their site. Never played one, though. If you really want options, look at Warmoth. You'll spend a little more, but everything is up to you. Numerous woods are available from the mundane to the exotic, nut width, radius, profile, fret wire (I suggest going stainless, you'll never need a grind and polish again), finish, fret markers, route size for the tuners...it's all your choice. At any given time there are at least 100 or more in stock already done, or they'll start one from scratch, though that'll cost a little more. The more "plain Jane" ones start around $175, on up to $600+ for the fancier stuff. You can get something really nice for $250-$300...no need to go crazy. I'm not affiliated with them in any way, I just own several, and really like them. They make very nice stuff.

It's gonna be a tough sell. Nobody wants hard copies of anything anymore. Just for my own morbid curiosity, what would you do with them anyway?
-
Ok, ok...obviously it's time to have a great big group un-bunching of everyone's panties. On three... 1...2...3...everybody lighten the $! up. ;)

JTV wiring and electronics questions.

Gee, I hope all the transplants were done by one of the only 4 or 5 qualified people in the western hemisphere...;) -
Hers the rub, though...every box you plug into, FRFR or otherwise, is gonna sound different. And not all FRFR is created equal, especially with the stuff on the lower end of the price spectrum. Just because the specs say 20-20,000 Hz, doesn't guarantee a flat response...true FRFR is expensive, just is. If you've got money to burn, fine...otherwise, this is just gonna cost you an extra few hundred bucks if you're gonna turn around an upgrade again, a month later.
-
Yes, but you're probably not gonna like it. No one can answer this for you. FRFR fans will tell you to go for it. Those who've tried it, and found that is not for them, go back to their amps. Whether or not you'll decide that FRFR makes the tones you're currently geting sound better to you, can only be answered by one person. People get great results with both methods. "Better" is in the ear of the beholder...the only thing I can tell you with 100% certainty is that plugging in the patches you're currently using to any FRFR speaker will sound VERY different than they do through your amp. Quite possibly very awful, initially. That doesn't mean they can't be tweaked to sound fantastic, but you may find that you'll almost be starting at square one. FRFR is a different animal, and requires a different approach.

I always have to connect everything and open Monkey first, and get that to recognize whatever device I'm plugging in. Then open Workbench, and it recognizes everything. Happens with both the POD and the JTV...don't ask me why. If I try to go directly into Workbench or POD HD Edit, nothing shows up.
-
I suppose you could print a screen shot of HD Edit window(s)...beyond that, I think you're out of luck.

As my wife would probably tell you, if they gave out awards for being a smart-a$$, I would likely win the MVP...so I don't get offended by such things, and neither should anyone else really. But sadly, in this delightful age of ours, those who are completely devoid of a sense of humor now live in a permanent snit over every perceived slight...it's the new normal. Since this guy hasn't returned to the thread, I'll bet he either he figured it out, or he's decided we're all a bunch of a**holes. Either way, problem solved! lol....I guess my wife is right. ;)

JT Variax Frets
cruisinon2 replied to guitarplaya2000's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Well they're definitely not stainless, and most frets in the universe that aren't, are some kind of nickle alloy. If it were something exotic and experimental, I guarantee it would have appeared in the advertising crappola. -
There we go...;) Now it's a party.

Tempers getting short around here. That was quite a thumpin, lol. All that's missing is a couple of "your mom's so fat..." jokes. ;)
