Possible or not, the request will be ignored in here. Post it on Ideascale, then lobby for votes...

No they don't. Warranty works costs them money. No company wants to do warranty jobs. Easiest way out of that is a twit who voided said warranty with a sledge hammer, or by soaking the squeaky expression pedal in a gallon of used motor oil. But...they also don't want 10,000 units coming back for a squeaky pedal, when there's an absurdly simple fix. It would be a lot of time and money spent on a stupid problem.

toggle switch woes

I've used this before, with no problems: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B000BXKZVA/ref=cm_cr_mpr_bdcrb_top?ie=UTF8 Any plastic safe contact cleaner should be fine, though. There are lots out there...just do a quick search and you'll find a bunch to choose from. -
I can't belive they actually seem to want people to send units in for warranty work when this solves the problem...

Do whatever you're comfortable with, but as I said, appropriate contact cleaner is extraordinarily unlikely to hurt anything. No one would ever use it if it did, and it might very well solve your problem. It sure as hell beats spending hours in the car. Either way, don't expect L6 to answer you in here. It's a user forum...they just host it. I know you tried a support ticket already, and unfortunately "go to an authorized service center" is the typical response for most issues...L6 seems to frown on users servicing anything themselves, no matter how idiot-proof, or mundane the fix. From where I sit, you've got nothing to lose by trying to clean it out...and I'll bet you next month's mortgage payment that if you take it in for service anywhere, that's the first thing they're gonna do. -
A final cure for my jtv
cruisinon2 replied to Zeller's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Don't know if I agree with this assessment. If that were the cause, why does it only seem to affect the 6th string? Why not the other wound strings as well? And why would it not affect every JTV out there? Everybody's pick scrapes against the strings... I've grown accustomed to polished stone picks, which if anything accentuate pick attack a bit...would seem like this would make the problem worse, yet I have no "plink" at all. Whatever the problem is, it's weird...some guitars are obviously immune, and others have the disease from day one. The answer is buried in the "brains" of the guitar somewhere. -
This guy fell off the map a long time ago. He's not likely to answer you. There's another online source that sells a comparable cable. The thread is around somewhere and has a link to the site...don't remember it offhand, but it's here. Perhaps someone will chime in.

Which I've seen as high as 15 or 20%...so every five returns is effectively "selling" one unit, with no net loss of inventory. "Oh, the humanity!"

Those laws exist to protect consumers. The end result is no different than if someone buys the amp and returns it because they simply didn't like it. Companies would be laughing all the way to the bank if "all sales are final" were the law of the land. How much sleep do you think they'd be losing if you got stuck with a $2000 amp that you hated? FAR more people would end up getting screwed this way...which scenario do you prefer?

Never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city...;) You'll be fine...good luck!
-
Ugh...so that someone who's been officially anointed "qualified" can smear on the chapstick. Can't make this stuff up.
-
That's all the evidence I'd need. I wouldn't go dumping a quart of Penzoil in there, but I seriously doubt these units would be brought to their knees by chapstick or anything similar, applied conservatively.

Does anyone know of any good tones to emulate brass sounds?
cruisinon2 replied to OasisMcFly's topic in POD HD
I know they've got one that does a pretty convincing impersonation of various pianos/organs, but I don't remember any brass sounds. Either way, whether such a pedal exists or not, the POD ain't gonna do saxophones without divine intervention. -
HELP -- JTV59 wont "turn on"
cruisinon2 replied to lwilliams's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
+1...same thing when I ordered my mother-of-toilet seat pickguard for the 69. Took almost a month to ship. -
Well here's one... http://www.musiciansfriend.com/chorus-flanger-phaser-effects-pedals/boss-sl-20-slicer-guitar-effects-pedal I read the description, and I still don't understand what it's supposed to do. But I am fairly certain that I don't want to "instantly transform my guitar into a pulsating groove instrument"...whatever that means. From the sound of it, it would seem to have something to do with wearing a giant fluffy mouse head while pushing a space bar, in front of a room full of 20-somethings with heads full of Ecstacy... But to each their own, and good luck in your quest! ;)

JT Variax set-up
cruisinon2 replied to ansilatoms's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Because all sorts of industries have figured out how to successfully market the words "vintage", "tradition", and "classic". If it's old and still exists, it must be good...you can get people to buy a bucket of horse $#*!, if you give them a certificate of authenticity stating that it came from Secretariat. -
JT Variax set-up
cruisinon2 replied to ansilatoms's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
Well if it works, it works...but you're a better man than I. If mine had arrived with that many glaring issues, it would have gone straight back where it came from. You should not have to jury-rig any instrument to that degree, just to upgrade it to "passable". -
TNT! TNT! LOL... Anybody else remember "10,000 Lovers"? Ha...haven't thought about that one in years.
-
None. I've tried dozens. Too many variables to expect any continuity when the rest of the rig, the guitar, and the player keep changing. You'll waste far more time than you save with this approach. Experimenting yourself is a whole lot faster.
-
There is a steep learning curve, no doubt. And yes, the factory presets are basically useless. I wasn't thrilled early on, either. Much of it depends on the rest of your rig...are you plugging into a combo, power amp and cabinet, FRFR speaker and/or straight to a PA, just headphones? Choices of cab and mic model, and especially the output mode (combo/front, studio-direct, etc) will drastically change your sound depending on what you're running through. There is no escaping the experimental phase though. A "plug-and-play" unit, it's not. If you provide a little more info about the rest of your gear, suggestions will be a little easier to make.

I'm not a software engineer, but I don't think that's a forgone conclusion...until it's proven one way or the other, it's no more valid an assumption than saying "it can't possibly be the firmware because they'd all be defective". Neither is a given...but either one presents an excellent excuse for doing nothing. As was stated above by someone with the relevant experience, software failures won't necessarily manifest themselves the same way in all cases. I'm prepared to accept that...almost nothing in life is that black and white.

Unnecessary tap dancing to get to wah during solo
cruisinon2 replied to Dylanguitar's topic in Helix
My wah is the only external pedal I kept. Click it on when I want it, off when I don't. -
Well...they're drummers. A Neanderthal fixating on a Stone Age instrument makes perfect sense. Be thankful if your's is housebroken. ;)

Shouldn't be, but "brand new" doesn't mean much anymore. QC ain't what it used to be. I bought a 7-string about a year ago. Major manufacturer that shall remain nameless...not a million dollar instrument, but not a $200 press board guitar either. Right out of the box, volume pot had issues. Sound cut in and out...jiggling it would bring it back to normal for a few minutes, then it would act up again. I didn't want to send it back either. One quick squirt, and it hasn't been a problem since.
