  1. Well that didn't take long. For anyone still wondering why he bothered to start this thread, there it is above....to play Lord of the Manor, and to put all of us "children" with our "toys" in our place. I stand humbled in the presence of greatness.
  2. Tsk,tsk,tsk...nobody is giving the OP what he wants. Pat him on the head, and tell him he made the right decision. That's what he's looking for.
  3. And with good reason. A 0.1mm change in height (wherever it's measured) is nearly immeasurable, not to mention imperceptible.
  4. I'm really not trying to rain on your parade and ruin your JTV experience, but you could try every amp model at your disposal, and you won't get a usable acoustic tone from that cabinet...trust me, I tried. I spent weeks trying one amp/cab/EQ combo after another through my old tube rig and Marshall 4x12, and got nowhere. You need a frequency range that those speakers just can't produce...that being the case, the choice of amp model is almost irrelevant. Fighting it is a losing battle. Hell, if you plug an actual acoustic guitar through a traditional guitar amp it will just barely sound like what it is. Tried that too...it doesn't work either. Finally, and VERY reluctantly, I went FRFR and couldn't be happier. One of the primary reasons I bought my JTV was so I could get acoustic tones live without having to drag one to the gig. Wasn't gonna happen any other way.
  5. Amen. If I had 200 tube amps in a warehouse somewhere, 197 of them would collect dust. Choice is nice, but eventually you reach a point of diminishing returns. How much time are you really gonna spend tweaking?
  6. It might work great...right up until the point you bend your first note. Then the "correction" will kick in, dragging the note back to wherever this marvelous device thinks it should have been in the first place. Technology is great. It has given us some pretty convincing amp modelling, but this kinda stuff will be the death of music. I'll don't care if a "real" amp is producing my tone, but fudging a performance I just don't get. May as well play to a backing track...just my 2 cents.
  7. One tenth of a millimeter? My electron microscope is in the shop. The upper range for the diameter of a human hair is 0.18 millimeters. So this problem will be solved by raising the string height by half the diameter of a single hair? Tune in next week folks when we'll show you how to propel a 60 ft. sailboat at speeds of up to 11 knots with a single mouse-fart.

    L2m set up

There's nothing wrong with setting the L2 in guitar mode of that's what sounds good to your ears, just know that if you are also sending the POD directly to the PA, the tone you are hearing on stage is very likely to be significantly different than what the audience is hearing. With the PA being FRFR, and the L2 behaving more like a traditional guitar cabinet, your gonna get two very different sounds from any given patch.
  9. Having never experienced this with ANY piece of gear I've owned, I can't relate at all. Don't know if that's a failing on my part or not, but I've never once achieved instant tonal nirvana with any combo of guitar(s) and amp, no matter what was in the rig. The day I plug into something new and I'm instantly thrilled, with no need to adjust anything, I suspect I'll drop dead from the shock. ;)
  10. Well I guess that's reasonable....after all you did allow almost 5 whole hours between asking for some help and giving up entirely and selling off the unit, lmao. May The Force be with you, I suspect your gonna need it. ;)
  11. Pretty please, in the name of all that is decent and Holy...you need to find a new tag-line. Check with the boys in advertising, see if they can free up a few bucks and put a team together for ya. :)
  12. No one ever thinks they're gonna get caught...doesn't matter if it's a speeding ticket, or capital murder. If people actually gave any thought to the fact that their actions have consequences, we'd live in a crime-free utopia.
  13. Yeah, these things suck. Don't know why I keep reading these forums.
  14. My point was that blending the models with the mag pickups is a feature of the guitar...it can be turned on or off, and this may have been enabled inadvertently. Your problem could have a very simple fix, so selling it off may be a bit premature. Plus, nobody will want a malfunctioning guitar. Try re-flashing the firmware, and when it asks you if you want to keep the existing models, say "no".
  15. Well that is dreadful...my sympathies. Sounds like you have the mag pickups blended with the modeling. Workbench can show you one way or the other if this is what's going on.
  16. Will it work? Yes. Worth pursuing? You'll only know the answer to that after you give it a whirl. The "combo/front" (I think that's what they called it) output mode is designed for a set-up such as you're describing. Whether or not you will like the results is anybody's guess...personally, I have never had any luck running this modeler (or any other for that matter) straight into the front of an amp. Daisy chaining two pre-amps together just doesn't end well. The amp's tone stack is gonna color your sound no matter what you do, and it tends to make dialing in tones that much more of a pain in the arse. Also tends to add more noise to the equation. Your mileage may vary...
  17. Unless you're trying to rattle your filings loose, or have neighbors that you detest, the L2T is plenty loud. I think 3's are really intended to be part of a full PA set-up for really big rooms.
  18. Getting warranty work done is like dealing with an insurance company...they don't want to pay for it, and if they can find an excuse not to, they're gonna use it. No proof that you're still in the warranty period is an ideal reason to say no. I'd try an locate something...receipt, credit card statement, if I were you. Ask at GC if they can dig a receipt out of the computer. If you paid with a card, they always ask for info with big purchases. Usually stops just sort of demanding a DNA sample...
  19. While truss rod adjustments do need to be made in small increments, 1/8 of a turn is hardly anything, and it probably won't move the neck all that much. Most routine set-up instructions call for 1/4 turn at a time, tuning to pitch, then allowing some time for the neck to settle in. Rather than jacking up the string height so high, you may just need to loosen the rod a bit more.
  20. And as we all know, electrical incompatibilities notwithstanding, doing any sort of work to a JTV yourself will curve your spine and make the Allies lose the war... Authorized service center, authorized service center, authorized service center!!!! ;)
  21. $50 speakers will give you $50 sound. You get what you pay for...
  22. I'm gonna go with "because they don't want to freeze to death when it's 4 below, or stroke out from the heat when it's 89 degrees and 114% humidity at 2 am"...I seriously doubt your average trucker is worrying about turning the engine over one more time.
