  1. Hell, wasn't there at least one sale between the time that this was posted and now?

What I meant by that was... Each firmware gave us something. Whether it was more amps, more effects, or simply bug fixes. So, going from firmware 1.0 to firmware 2.62 is going to give you bonus material.
  4. Hell... I was totally courteous. I called you 'sir' and everything.
  5. Cover charge at 'dry' places are higher because they don't get the profits from other sales. Sometimes it is a state law, sometimes it is local law. Sometimes it is about the services offered (which is also about the law)... Totally nude vs topless vs pasties and gstrings. Lapdances. Private rooms. 18 to enter vs 21 to enter. Some places have a 3 feet rule. There's all sorts of differences. I have seen two places side by side. One serves, one does not. People go and drink in the one, and then come over to the dry one to get the bump and grind because they can't do it where the booze is. I have seen a strip joint and adult book store under the same roof --- you had to be 21 to buy a video to take home to watch in the privacy of your own home, but 18 to see it live. Hey, I am single. Verile. And always traveling somewhere. If not for strippers, porn stars, and (now that I work in TV) the actresses with emotional issues that work for me...
  6. $15 - you can't even get into a non-alcoholic strip joint for that.
  7. I think this line tells me me more about what you are experiencing. And it all boils down to what I said before. You are a schmuck. But, at least, this time you are schmuck for a different reason. The music store did not spend the money on the model packs. That would be foolish of them to do so. BUT, what the music store probably did was upgrade to the latest firmware. Your brand new, never before purchased, unit most likely shipped from the factory with Firmware 1.0 - the original. It is sort of like doing a Windows Update. But L6 doesn't do little updates each month like Microsoft does, L6 releases major overhauls at one time. Update your system and quit complaining.
  8. Holy lollipop. What about the people who waited 5 years from the time the unit was released until the time that the bonus packs were made available? Does that mean that they waited 5 years to have "HD". Then what exactly did they have for all those years. You, sir, are a schmuck.
  9. $20 WTF He must be an iPhone user or something. Every song is a dollar and every app is two.

You can't. At least, not in the way you are thinking -- there is no reset/restore button. You can do it two ways: 1. Load them from EDIT the way you would any patch/setlist/bundle. But that assumes that you have a copy of them saved somewhere. 2. Flash the firmware. But that will reset everything back to factory fresh. The good news is, if you haven't already upgraded to the latest firmware, you will also get some bonus material when you do.
  11. Yes, you can rename all of the patches. You can also copy them to another location. Delete them. Change them. And... and... and.. The list goes on and on. Might I suggest that you make a backup of your patches so that you don't have to come back later on asking for the originals.
  12. As to the search engine --- Computers are not omniscient. They only know what we tell them to know. So, my Van Halen patch may sound nothing like Van Halen and may sound everything like Blackmore, but the computer won't know that. And the same thing with Richie Blakmoor. It only knows what I tell it to know, therefore you will never find that patch unless you spell it the same as I do. As others have said - do not try searching "every single word that I can think of at the same time because that really narrows down the resuts". Instead trying searching "every" "single" "word", one at a time. Try Deep Purple instead of Blackmore. Try song titles like Smoke On the Water instead of Deep Purple. AND, you can search compatible devices - the rack units (HD Pro and HD Pro X) do not have 'group participation' that the floor units (HD500 and HD500X) have, which means you will get fewer results no matter what you search. But, since those 4 devices are 97% the same unit, you can use any of them. As to the Helix: If you have a fully functional working unit that does the things you need it to do, there is no reason to even look at another unit. Bury your head in the sand. There is no reason to keep up to date with product knowledge.
  13. I didn't have a pitch shifter, therefore I couldn't use it to match the guitar tuning to the song. I changed the speed of the tape to make the song match the tuning the guitar was in. **Which may explain why I learned to play things like Van Halen slightly up tempo than the recorded version.
  14. Agreed. And at least the stuff is cheap enough to dispose of without worry. I know, I know, I know --- "but, PianoGuyY, $500 is a lot of money" No, it's not. It's an illusion of comparatives that people are living in. My $700 unit that I bought in the late 1980's was expensive. It lasted me 20+ years. In today's money, that is a Helix. Sure, I needed a dozen units to make my sound, and use an amp, but they all lasted 20+ years. Can anyone imagine that kind of money? When today, I can buy an HD500, which does everything (and more) that my old rig did. $500 is not expensive. The problem occurs when people look at their paycheck. They don't realize that they are doing less than they did in the past, therefore do not need paid as much. So, when you look at $500 and you think that it is two weeks of minimum wage labor, you think "gee that is a lot", but had their income kept up with inflation and cost of living, $500 would be more like half a day's labor. The current temperature outside is 71 degrees. Not hot at all -- unless I am in the Arctic, then 71 is a problem. It is also not cold, unless I am in Hawaii, where the average winter temp is 78.
  15. Well, I would try it before I discard it. While I have not had my unit since 2010 (initial release), there's not too much that I have found to be incompatible in the time that I have had it. And, as far as finding out which firmware was used, I would go by date. I don't know how you keep your stuff organized, but if you right click and go to properties, it will tell you when a file was created and when it was last modified. You can then figure out that the things made in 2010 were not on firmware 6.9.
  16. You can run in 1-4 or 1-8. Meaning --- Your effect on/off can be applied to switches 1-4, with patches applied to 5-8. Or you can run in 1-8 mode, which means all of the footswitches will turn effects on or off. As to the 2nd question - You can only use 8 effects per patch. Yes, you can assign more then one effect per pedal. You can run them the same, or opposite (turning some on and some off at the same time), But, you are limited to 8 per patch.
  17. First, why wouldn't your old bundles work with the new firmwares? >>and, you can install the old firmwares, load your bundles, and then re-save them as setlists or individual patches - if you think that will help. But now, the firmware opinion... I really think it depends on what you are seeking as to whether or not to expect new stuff. For example, I see no reason why there won't be a few tweaks to the software. I am not, however, expecting 30 more amps to be released, nor am I expecting a rewrite of the routing schematics to allow the input to be an output or unused outputs to be used as inputs. ***I don't consider drivers a firmware issue. But I do expect drivers to be issued so that I can use this rig for 20 years the way I did my previous rig.

Silverhead has guitar/mic patch that he shares. Perhaps someone can link you to one of the posts where he explains how to use it (if it wasn't one of the above posts).
  19. Well, we aren't there, so no one is going to know specifically what is going on... But a good first thought is - everything needs to be equal. Meaning, tweak your tone using the amp/cab/speaker combination that the final product is coming out of. *Sidenote: I think there may be some issues when going digital to digital. I don't use USB, so I just glance over those conversations without letting them sink in.
  20. Half of your question is beyond comprehension with the information given--- But, to answer the part that we understand: The Pod has nothing to do with what your guitar sounds like. It is an amp/effects modeler. Variax would be a "modeling" guitar. And it works well with the Pod. It will replicate acoustic guitars.
  21. George Lucas has said --- You don't set a release date for a movie when the movie is finished. You set the date and then finish the movie when it is time to be released. Tom Morello had a guitar custom made that he ended up hating. So he kept having it altered. He has said "When I made the decision to stop searching for a sound that just didn't exist in that guitar, and I just started creating, I learned to take the sounds the guitar had and found ways to make music that I liked with them." What it all means is -- sometimes you just gotta shut up and play.
  22. Yeah, the arrow -- and then written right below the arrow is the word DOWNLOAD

It's early in the morning, so maybe my fuzzy eyes missed it... But I didn't see you say that you were creating separate signal chains. Your Pod shouldn't look like this: It should look like this:
  24. THAT is probably the only looper question I know. Yes, the looper can feed off of just the one input. I don't know how you do it, but I know it can be done.
  25. *NOTE: I answered these one at a time, in order, without knowing what came next. 1. YES. Although, I just want to preempt the follow up question --- you can have 1-4 or 1-8, you cannot have 5-8. And if that isn't a question that you will have later, I will leave it up there for the next guy, because I KNOW THAT SOMEONE is going to ask that question. You can run multiple effects on one switch. You can also run them in opposite directions -- such as turning one on while turning another off. 2. I don't know if there is a dedicated Octave Shift. But the unit has a 4 octave range, so doing one octave is a definite yes. I haven't a clue about the looping part of the question. 3. There is a tuner, but it does not actually mute. It takes the volume down to almost 0, and it removes all of the effects, but you can still hear it. 4. Previously said - I don't know anything about looping. 5. The HD500 does not need a DI. It can go straight to the pa. The unit does have a Mic input(XLR), but I don't know if that works for guitar (if that is the type of jack your guitar uses). 6. Yes, you can run them at the same time. But it is not separate in the sense that you can run 8 and 8. You have 8 to split between the two. Yes, you can run individual volumes. --- This will probably be easiest to explain/understand once you have a unit.
