  1. I know that it is still Saturday night even though the sun is up... But, am I missing something? Plug them both into the Pod. Yes, the Pod can handle 2 inputs at the same time. We can even run signal chains (separate, together, or faded).
  2. Well, yeah, that is the catch. You have to have ONE patch made first. But you then use it as your baseline to create all of the other patches.
  3. Whatever you do, that is what you always do. I, personally, do not max out the MV. What I do (short version, because I am tired of typing it all of the time) is - the CD input is not controlled by the MV, so I try to match my MV to the CD volume.
  4. Why waste money. My rig hadn't been updated in over 20 years. When I needed to make a change, I did. And I never once cried at not having this or that. I had everything that was needed, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. Think about all of the money I saved by not chasing technology.
  5. HA I thought it was the queer that posts "how to" videos on YouTube. The one that is always crying.
  6. Yeah, I don't think that the Pod cares about what brand of processor you are using. I think it is all about the operating system. Which, you have to be careful with those cheaper devices because they often run a 'lite' version of Windows. BUT Size matters. And so does the pointer. The computer program doesn't resize. A lot of people complain when it is on a small screen because some of the program isn't accessible. And I think that most of us will agree, you do not want to have to use a touchscreen while running EDIT.
  7. I ran a 12 space (no amps, just fx) rack as my primary setup. Hey, that damn thing doesn't even fit in my primary car. But, that is why I always had multiple cars, and multiple setups. These kids today, they don't know what life is like. They think they can't afford a Model Pack --- try having a 'work car' in addition to your regular car, just so you always have enough room to load your gear (gear and babes, but dudes today would rather play pokemon than play babes too).
  8. I don't remember who it was. But they did dual amp chart that showed a bunch of different variables. I work under a non-scientific rule - if it don't sound good, change it. So, I didn't bother to save the information.

    Volume Setting

The obvious answer is --- set it how ever you want to make it sound the way you want it to sound. I don't use 4cm, or amp, or anything else. I run straight to the pa. But no matter what you use, the important thing is to keep the volume the same when switching. What I do to set my volume is: I plug my mp3 player into the pod and I play a file. The jack isn't controlled by the Master Volume knob. I try to adjust the Master Volume so that my playing volume is equal to the mp3 that is playing. I know it isn't exactly what you were hoping for, but it is a way to get a baseline volume.
  10. Firmware is always a good place to start. But, my question is ---- how are you listening to your Pod? I had ran into a situation with my headphones where the (3.5mm to 1/4") adapter had gone bad. It was causing a phase issue on non stereo separated patches.
  11. And that includes the global settings. Setting it inside a patch is pointless if your global setting overrides it.
  12. Most of Vai's solo stuff is boring and predictable. Anyone can play that stuff. AND thanks to the internet, making scale finding and lick learning easy, everyone IS playing that stuff.
  13. I think the way to have this thing reach its full potential is to go with a Dream Rig type situation. Which is the L6 guitar and L6 amp. I mean, they are kind of made to go together. But, short of going that route... You want to be plugged into the purest source possible. A pa, an FRFR, keyboard amp. Some people suggest going into the fx loop to bypass the amp section and just use the power section. That works on some models but not all because the speakers and cabs still add something. They even sell guitar amps that are just power amps, a volume knob and nothing else. Whatever you decide to use, the important thing is to always use it. You can't use a Marshall to create the perfect tones and then go direct for a concert. Also, you can't use it at 2 in your bedroom and then 6 on stage - especially if it is a tube amp.

    Need Help

It is a USB cable, right? When you say Printer Cable, my mind envisions a parallel port.
  15. 1. If you have kids, then selling everything to buy something new isn't the best idea. 2. If you have to wait for a deal to buy something, you shouldn't be buying it at all. 3. There are always deals floating around. You can buy 'em new for $350. How much more of a deal do you need.
  16. The actual answer (which is the answer to most problems) is: If it doesn't sound good, change it. It is possible to get a beautiful sound from a phase canceled sound. It is possible to get a horrible sound from one amp. All of the science behind the whos and the whats, none of that really matters. All that matters is - twist the knobs until it sounds good. BUT to answer the questions - There are amps that do not cancel each other out - someone made a chart. An easy solution would be to add some panning if you are using two outputs, or add some delay to one of them if you are using one output. You would be amazed at what a 1 micro-second difference makes when dealing with tones that vibrate at 110hertz a second
  17. maybe if we color coded it and added some size differential? llnl
  18. I did - sort of. My HD500 replaced everything that went between the guitar and the sound man. I use no amp. No other devices. Nothing. Just a guitar and a Pod. Of course, they weren't pedals, they were rack devices. And everything hasn't been sold, it just doesn't get used.

    overdrives

Isn't the very point of overdrive to make the sound fuzzy?
  20. 5XE H5E HRE PXE They should all fit into each other with no converting needed. Just drag-and-drop. Depending on who designed them and what they crammed into them, there could be a few files that don't work - such as too much dsp being used on a 5XE going into 500. Or maybe a output jack was used on a PXE that the 500 doesn't have. And the HRE and PXE are the rack units, so not all of them will have the switches/pedals set up in the patches.
  21. By the very nature of what a pa does, it is to be flat. Of course, that doesn't mean that it is - because some people get a little cheap when it comes to spending money on gear or making repairs to gear. Nor does it mean that the guy running the system knows how to keep it flat. I never met a black man that didn't love his bass. But, yes, because a PA sends out all of the frequencies through all of the various speakers, they are to be flat
  22. If I read that all correctly --- Why not plug the guitar in to the computer (via USB), and have the computer hooked up to the soundbar.
  23. Well, ok, not solely because of the Pod. That's ridiculous to blame it all on the machine.
  24. No way dude. You can't expect people to work at something. I bought a machine, I should be better because of it.
  25. This would not be a problem for L6 to fix. It is an issue with the computer.
