  1. My guess would be ---- if you order one online instead of going to a store to actually see the unit in person, that you are going to be just as upset about the unit as you are your current unit.
  2. Wait... Are you using one guitar amp and one frfr? Or is your amp an frfr? I am a little confused on that.
  3. I am going to repeat the first line: this thing is like a computer -- it needs to reboot once in awhile. And I would like to know where you live that you power has not gone out once in three years. Nor have you had a single electrical storm, where it would be recommended to be unplugged. But, in the spirit of playing the 'game', you are correct, no contest.
  4. 1. this thing is like a computer -- it needs to reboot once in awhile. 2. I am a performer. My Pod gets unplugged because I am always taking it somewhere. 3. The weather. A tornado rips by. Knocks the power out for a few days. The unit is officially powered down.
  5. an Undo button would be a little difficult. Because --- how does the software distinguish between a manual edit vs a usage change. *an example of 'usage change' is when you use the turn on an effect via a pedal. EDIT reads it as an edit, where as, it is actually just you using the patch the way it was designed.
  6. When you travel a lot, you learn where to shop.
  7. I know they are designed to work in companion to one another, but I don't have one, so I wouldn't know. I still use guitars designed for the image. I'd be more inclined to try the Variax technology in one of my guitars - like a pickup set sold separately. I typically shop guitars with my eyes first, then with the fingers. Just like my women.
  8. It won't fit in a car. Which is why I always had at least a station wagon or larger. You kids have it easy with all this technology. HD500 is all you need. It will fit in anything.
  9. there are numerous places. But ultimately, it boils down to --- where are people going to submit them. If you went to (as an example) Seymour Duncan and browsed there, there are a lot of users who use things other than L6. Which means you are going to find the most stuff related to SD Pickups, not L6. Sure, L6 stuff is there, but the purpose of the SD website is not L6. I rarely talk about Tregan Guitars on the L6 website. Why would I, this is a site dedicated to L6. SOo... using common sense, if you want a lot of L6 related items, go to the L6 website.
  10. This all depends on what your home stereo is. One of those $99 all-in-one box units --- probably not going to sound 'fantastic', and probably has the best chance of damage happening.
  11. You can keep your little amp. The sound guy will mic it for volume. You'll still need to make adjustments to your patches because adding 10x volume will simply amplify your problems.
  12. It's called Black Cherry. I have one too. I named it Jessica after a girl I... Well, I guess this isn't the appropriate forum for that story.
  13. Hell, that's a picture I stole from the Music Zoo. Blame them. Those zeros on that site are always a little out of sync.
  14. I used to hook up my keyboard to my home stereo. Not to the speakers directly, but to the amplifier. I'd plugged in to an open rca channel, flipped the selector switch, and away I go. The pod would be the same. It must go into an amplifier of some sort, something that will actually power the speakers. You run 0 risk of damaging either unit, as long as both units are compatible. Meaning, know what input types you are using in the power section. And in a worse case scenario, you run to Radio Shack and buy a $20 signal converter.
  15. My entire rig consists of solely an HD500. Asking for pictures of my guitars, or the rig that the HD500 replaced --- those are completely different stories, lol.
  16. If this is capable of being plugged in a signal chain, it should definitely go after all other boxes. Not before. Not in the loop. Anything that comes after the drum machine is going to color it. You don't want that. The drum machine has to be last in line.
  17. Needing an FRFR is debatable. Yes, you need something that is different than a guitar amp. But only certain situations would require an actual frfr. For the bedroom, a $20 pair of computer speakers is plenty. And for rehearsals, there are still alternatives. Keyboard amps. PA-on-a-stick. Home Stereo speakers. Bigger computer or gaming speakers. Live, if you aren't playing through a PA, you shouldn't be playing. So, figuring in a $1200 set of FRFRs to the price of a modeler is overkill.
  18. But you weren't here a week ago when he was putting us down for playing online while he was in his big time recording studio.
  19. never had this occur with standard files in standard folders I have had this happen when files are in a zip folder. --- just unzip, or as you said, drag somewhere other than the zip folder. Then drag into EDIT. I have had this happen when a file extension was renamed from an extension that wouldn't work in the machine --- at the same time, I can drag files with bad extensions into EDIT as long as they were originally a file that can work. For example, i found a site that had 100,000 files. But for some reason all extensions were changed to something EDIT wouldn't recognize. BUT the files that were HD500 files could be dragged into EDIT even though they no longer had a working extension. The same can be said in reverse, if you change l6t to h5e, it won't work. And I have run into files that are actually imported into EDIT, but because of the window you are using, they aren't where you dropped them. They are in the position that is active. --- that is a programming choice (not error) in the EDIT software.
  20. I agree, there are a myriad of possibilities. And everyone is in a different situation, so there is no one single definite answer. My suggestion is always (particularly if you are playing some of these black tie events) to start using the pod without an amp. Plug it straight in to the PA. This does a couple things. Mainly, it lessens the hassle (loading gear/setup/sound check) of a live performance, and opens up possibilities of sound design. As to your specific question of should you turn modeling off: The easy answer is yes. Because no matter how good of a Fender model is available in the machine, you will never sound like a Fender when using a Marshall. This is because your amp will add its own colour to the mix. But, that doesn't mean that you can't use models. Each model will add some flavor. Don't use models if you want to sound like that amp (because it won't). You can use models like an effect, adding some tonal changes. No one said that playing a Fender model though a Marshall will sound bad, I just said that it won't sound like a Fender. So if you get a fantastic tone using a model through your amp, there is no reason not to use it. ****************** I will just throw this out there, though: Your amp is going to change the final sound. If you ever change your amp, or plug the pod in direct, or even if you change the way you plug in your unit, every patch you made will be useless to you.
  21. *THIS* is a good place to start, at least for the Green Day stuff. I can't specifically hear the other stuff in my head.
  22. But you shouldn't have the pc and pod connected all the time. It slows down the way the pod operates.
  23. OR Do not turn yourself up louder. Let the PA do its job. If you need more volume have him run it in the monitors. The other option is to run direct, and use your amp as your personal monitor instead of a sound source for the pa.
  24. Yes. input = guitar/variax But also, unless you set it to global, it will change when you change your patch.
  25. I have a Grammy. Eminem does too. Only one of us can tell you how to play a G chord. *** What IS the solution! After all, it is a well known problem with a question being posted on the first page.
