Ya know what ---- I am not going to say a word about that one. I hate people like that.
-
The first question is: Has he used his pod before? Like, what I mean is, does he know how to adjust some of the configuration settings. Such as - how to set it up when you are going into a pa vs going into an amp, or the GEQ --- the things that aren't related to patches.
-
And yet, it still doesn't have two expression pedals.

When I am at home 'chilling'. I do not want to have to lift my arm to scroll or click. Rest the arm on the desk and do a quick wrist flick. NO TOUCH SCREENS AT HOME!

its all just 1's and 0's. I assume this isn't the first iPhone you own. Can you call it cheating, that they tweaked the 1's and 0's in order to make the iPhone 3 different than the iPhone 1, or the iPod or even an Android. Like, for real, tweak enough 1's and 0's on your Commodore 64 and you can be running Windows 11 -- except for the hardware limitations. But, NO, I wouldn't feel cheated. Half of the amp companies started with someone else's amp that they modified, the other half tried to replicate something else from scratch. It just takes a few little tweaks to make it your own. So, if they can make Amp A sound like Amp B just by a few minor tweaks --- more power to 'em.

I answered his other post in his language. I was talking to Radatat, not the OP, when I said that.

That is not at all what I said. Let's try it a different way... You need constants in your life. Pick a space. Let's say, your bedroom. Put your amp somewhere. Let's say, a corner. Pick a guitar. Put yourself somewhere in the room. Design a patch. BUT, that combination is where you will always design your patches. Once you decide what combination you want to use, that is your 'sweet spot'. It is your 'create spot'. Never create on stage. Never create in the bathroom. Never use a different guitar. Never stand somewhere else. Only create in your 'create spot'. Editing too. It is going to sound different if you go somewhere else, so do not edit - unless you are editing them all based on your new environment. Eventually, you will find little nuances that can be used everywhere. Like, if you make patches in your 'create space', but find that they do not have enough bass in the rest of the world, you can start to add that much bass to all of your patches. OR, use the GEQ at home to remove bass, so that you have to add bass in your patches to bring it back to 0 (and turn off GEQ when not in the house).

We did land on the moon, and were greeted by aliens - and told never to return. Which is why we haven't. Elvis would be 80 years old. Had he not died, he would be dead. Jim Morrison faked his own death to escape being 'Jim Morrison'. Pam too. Andy Kauffman, however, he faked his death as a prank. But died before he could return. OOPS. Aliens ARE among us. MIB was not a documentary, nor was it a mockumentary. But it was propaganda. Used to wean us into the idea of not being alone. If you're gonna talk about this stuff, at least get your facts straight.

If you watch Game of Thrones, in the early seasons they always said "Do you speak the common tongue?" And that is a 'true to life' thing. I don't know what language was used back then. For the show, it is English because of the audience. But English, in modern times, is considered the universal language.

It is absolutely normal for all of what you described. And yes, what sounds good to you where you are standing may sound like balls where someone else is standing. How do I fix it? Design patches under the same scenario. ALWAYS. - Same room. Same amp. Same guitar. Same positioning. Same EVERYTHING. Anything after the design of my patch is up to the sound man to take care of. Believe it or not, that's the H2G truth. PA systems fill the room, your amp does not. PA systems handle everyone's sound, which means they can EQ everyone based on the room acoustics. It sounds overly simplistic, and that is because it is. Turn on your amp. Play something. Sit on the floor. Play something. Walk to the side of your amp. Play something. They all sound different.

Suggestion: Your stuff should have been backed up LONG before now. Question: Is it possible that an audience member was reaching up and twisting a knob without you realizing it? Suggestion: Try a power cord for the pod. Question: Were you hooked up to any sort of digital device, such as midi, spdif, or L6 Link? Suggestion: Your stuff should have been backed up long before NOW. Yeah, I said it twice -- on purpose!

Then just use your output jacks. No need to worry about ohms and stuff.

There are people who can't hear the difference between a Fender and Marshall. So, it wouldn't surprise me that someone like you may think a Blackface and Roland sound alike.
-
are these powered monitors? You can't plug the pod into speakers, there need to be a power amp somewhere.

It may not be a $10k guitar, but you would be amazed at how much closer to a $4k guitar a $400 guitar can get if you pay a professional to do $400 worth of work. As to relief and intonation -- there are better places to get that info. Especially since many people will tell you that fret buzz on an electric doesn't matter except for open notes. I don't know the answer to the +/- question because I have a separate tuner for that kind of work. But I do know that if you are off as far as the bracket, you have quite a few turns of the screw to get it right. That far off can be heard by the human ear -- or, at least, by my ear.

Which doesn't do any good if you aren't running Windows Office. NO, there isn't an L6 PDF like previous models. There also isn't one for the 2.6.2 firmware. But as stated above, the information IS available.

I'm with Watts on this one. No fingerprints! Plus, isn't the home setup usually larger than a cubicle. Do we really want to have to lean forward, extend our arm, and stretch to touch the screen. Laptop, Tablet, phone. What do they all have in common? Proximity. They are right there in your face. The home pc, I know guys that interface their home tv - their big screen that is hanging on the wall across the room. NO TOUCHING

There is a 'settings' section of the forum. Do you think that discussing settings and putting up 10 different versions of the same file would be better posted there instead of CT? On CT, I would be more willing to have a 'comment' section so that we see which ones are good, more than I would want it to teach new people how to do files.

I don't know if FRFR is a term widely used outside of forums and advertising. I can't say that I recall anyone ever using it in conversation -- hey man, your frfr sounds really hot. BUT, if you put EMG into CTsearch I found 559 results. Seymour Duncan gives 266. Like I said, your idea of being able to add more information - particularly from a drop down box to make sure spellings and model names are proper. Until that day occurs, you can still search what people manually input. It's the other guy, the one that wants to let users critique tones, that is what I don't think is a good idea.
-
My opinion is this... At this point, if your machine isn't broken - therefore you don't actually need to buy a new thing; 1. The HD500 has been out for 5 years. The X, while only 2 years old, wasn't actually a new product. It was a slight mod due to a hardware supply issue. So, you may want to consider waiting to see what and when something new comes out. FYI - I am not an advocate for chasing, or waiting for, technology. It is just a suggestion due to the unit's age. 2. If you are not using L6's world famous modeling technology, you may want to consider a different product. It is sort of like buying a sports car that you only intend on driving during gridlock.
-
That assumes someone put in the terms you're looking for. And yes, if you did something like that, A drop box would be best. I plaid the gitar with seemores in it.
-
Right, but what you fill in can already be searched. So, even though there isn't a specific pickup slot, you can put EMG 81 in any spot.
-
To me, that is a single path with a stereo out. Which is different than two paths -- even though, yes, you can build fx in each. Really, we're just splitting hairs.
-
Yes, but not just that. How many times do you see people say "I am afraid to post because of what you people may say" -- so, using that same way of thinking, could you imagine the tones that won't be posted because someone is afraid of possibly hearing criticism. PLUS, since you specifically said 'for newbs to hear suggestions" --- that is a bad idea. You see it all the time in posts. Using different speakers causes it to sound different. Using different pickups, strings, picks, playing technique -- it all results in different tone. So, for you to ask me "How does my Slash patch sound", it will never sound the same as it does at your place because I fingerpick a Rickenbacker. Don't get me wrong. I often wonder what people think of tones, and think a comment section would help. But I think any time you let people speak, things become totally different. CT already allows you to fill in information like that about your own tone.

It is good in theory. But, I think the application of it would be a bigger nuisance than benefit. A better way than a public comment, would be for private messages to be sent. But even that would cause problems.
