  1. You don't. Unless you have them set to both turn on and off at the same time. You are trying to turn one on while the other off at the same time. Turning them both off doesn't happen.
  2. My experience is--- it mostly happens off-stage (such as at home), while sitting down, and not wearing shoes. In fact, I can't tell you the last time it failed me on stage.
  3. Oh, absolutely, one of you guys is right. But we'll never know until he does what I said, which is --- tell us more. Because, if he tried 'everything', that might mean that he did what all of you said to do.
  4. Those are 'bonus' features. Not part of the standard issue.
  5. The first time (years ago before all of this digital hullabaloo) that I played in a band that used tiny little pignose sized amps on stage, I felt a little silly. I mean, I really felt like I was 'faking it' -- all of the dancing around and songs about teen angst, while I could barely hear myself. How does one 'get into it' at those volumes. Hence, I was faking it. Fast forward a few decades, having a lot more different sized venue experiences under the belt --- I learned to ignore 'the push'. I love 'the push' but it isn't needed for a good show, and sometimes is simply not going to happen no matter how loud you play.
  6. to us: why did we suggest fx loops instead of input jacks? to op: you need to say more, because it can't be that hard to go from guitar to pod to combo.
  7. then what you need to do is... take you existing wah patches, and edit them. Delete everything except the wah, and then build your new tone around it. Then save the new patch into whatever slot you need. We know it is not a hardware issue because it works on other patches. We know it is not software because it works on other patches. It is something you are doing. Until you figure it out, my above suggestion is the only thing you can do. ***** Since you tried 'everything' you could try telling us what you have done. I am sure someone will see a step that you missed.
  8. a half step is never harmony but if you wanted something a half step down... fx type: pitch fx model: pitch glide pitch: -1.0 mix is up to you
  9. That isn't a bad thing. Depending on your playing situation, you may only need one thing. And certainly, once you find a niche that you like, you use it more --- that is how some people have their own unique tone. When was the last time you heard a Van Halen record and thought -- that tone sounds like Slash. Eddie has his own sound, he even sounds like him when playing with Michael Jackson. He found 'his sound' and stuck with it. When I was "in my youth", I was playing one style of music in one band (at a time). I needed one main setting - plus any fx. The next band needed one main setting, but different than the last one. The work I do today requires that I have everything at my disposal. Otherwise, I wouldn't be using near as much as I do. That's just how it works.
  10. here's something I just thought of when reading another post.... You may want to make sure you have the latest firmware. It is possible that you have a 'stock' unit. Not only are some bugs fixed (until new bugs are found and released in the next firmware), but there have been added features to the unit since it's invention.
  11. That isn't L6's fault. That is your dealer who didn't move inventory, or moved it in the wrong order.
  12. have you disconnected everything and rebooted your devices? That always seems to the one thing people forget. No, I have never seen/heard it. But, admittedly, I never tried. Knowing that it takes time to sync, I hook up and do other stuff.
  13. Toy around with it between now and June. Download some Customtone files. Learn the EDIT software. Have fun. But don't get frustrated during this first month. It seems like trying to pilot a space ship right now, and you haven't even gone through flight school yet. One day, it will all make sense.
  14. See, I debate that. Just because a machine says that your ear shouldn't hear something doesn't mean the ear doesn't hear something. I knew I made changes, so it could have been in my head that something sounded different. But when I took it out and played it for others who didn't know that I made changes, they thought I made changes. So yes, overall the unit sounds better. But better is not the same. Same is the same. Better is better.
  15. Yes, you can use amps in 1-8 mode. It gives you 8 fx on/off buttons instead of 4. Which some people want. Others will use 1-4 mode and then assign multiple fx to be turned off with each switch. But that works well for some because they turn multiple fx on/off at the same time, while others need it done individually. And then there are people like me, who use a separate patch instead of turning fx on and off (wah is the one exception). *But be forewarned, if you are trying to load up all 8 switches with your favorite fx so that you only ever need to use one patch the rest of your life, you may run into DSP issues.
  16. I am old fashioned. I grew up in an era when guitar gear was guitar gear. Bass gear was bass gear. ETC So, because of that, I only have one thing plugged into the pod. I have no need for all of the other stuff. I made (or downloaded) my patches based on the way I have my unit set, which is based on the way I use my unit. Changing the setting will change the tone, which means I would need to adjust all of them. basically, what I am saying is: You can set your unit anyway you'd like. Its yours, you make the rules. Its music, there are no rules. But the one thing to remember is that whichever way you set it when you make your tones is how you should keep it set.
  17. I don't claim to be nice. Partially because of the Autism. Nice isn't a luxury I have. Do you know what I do have instead of being nice? The ability to get the job done. No one wants to be my friend, and it doesn't bother me because I don't process emotion like that. But everyone wants to work with me because i get the job done. Would you rather go nowhere with a guy you can hangout and drink with, or accomplish something with someone that is going to do his job and then leave you to drink with whomever you damn well please. BUT, enough about that... Do you see a conflict with what some of you are saying? You don't want to post answers to other people's questions because you are tired of people who do answer them. But you don't want the people who do answer them to answer them. That means that the alternative is to let questions go unanswered. And just how would you feel if you came here looking for help and no one answered, or they did answer but it took a week for someone to come around to answer it. How about the guys who said they only come around when they want to ask questions? I bet you're glad that not everyone is a leech and only shows up when they need something from someone. Some people have to provide, in order for others to take. If the only people coming around were novices that didn't know anything, how would anyone know anything. Answer some damn questions to help others more often than once in a blue moon. Maybe the more you decided to assist others, the less that the people who you despise, will need to do it. Which, the same can be said about Customtone. A lot of you like to talk about the 'garbage' you find on there. But how many of those same people have contributed their own files? You know, just like in life. You all hate the rich people (the providers), but you love the jobs they provide you with and you certainly enjoy the taxes that they pay. LEECHES. All forums have them.
  18. Forget "perfect dialed in tone". I don't think, if starting with a blank patch, that you'll get ANY usable sound in 5 minutes. There is a learning curve for these units. We've all been there at one point. One day you will wake up, and it will all make sense all at once.
  19. He was so kind to all of us over the years. He made such an impact to all of us using the HD500. And he made sure that he give us all his well wishes when his time to move on came about. It would only be polite to give him a proper send off.
  20. You're not the only one that says --- it sounds different. Overall, the unit sounds better. But no one can pinpoint how or why it sounds better. Even people who analyzed with sprectragraphs and stuff. We don't see any real change.
  21. You only need the latest. This isn't like Microsoft, where they issue little files for individual fixes. These files would be more like if Microsoft reinstalled Windows. That's why it is important to: 1. back up all of your patches first. 2. read all of the instructions. There is no option to 'reboot now or reboot later' like MS gives you. Once you start it, you need to complete it. It is easy and it only takes a few minutes, but in a 'minute rice is too long of a wait' world, it needs mentioned. and a personal preference: 3. update when you have time off. Some of us are musicians. We can't take the risk of installing a faulty update while sitting in a hotel room before a gig. Especially if you decide to take the extra step and do a Global Reset after the update, because then you need to set the thing up like when you first opened the box - including calibrating the pedal. Again, it isn't that long or hard, but it is not something to do before show time.
  22. Once you own a unit, using the EDIT software is always the easiest to get rid of the old - just by dragging a 'new tone' into the slot. But, at the store: 1. there are empty slots available. 2. changing the blocks to contain nothing is a good way. I'll be honest with ya though... I don't know how well you'll be able to create sounds during a 5 minute test run in a store.
  23. That was my question since the initial announcement - what happens when you sell your unit. It is my understanding that purchases do not carry over to the new owner (once a firmware is installed). But you are correct, that you could create an account for the purpose of letting the new owner have it. I don't know if that is legal because I haven't read the fine print. A bigger question would be --- is your name/bank information stored in that account and then your new owner would have access to it?
  24. But the HD500 is not software. It is a physical device (hardware) that is used for musical stuff. And if I want to go up in value, why would I click a down button.
  25. Yes, I do that all the time. In fact, if I couldn't do that, I would seriously have to consider a different unit. --- but that is based on my own personal usage/needs, not something that everyone would need to deal with. Offline also helps when --- for example, you download a patch from another device and it requires too much dsp for your unit. You can't open the file when online, but in offline mode you can open it and then delete an unneeded slot. Which, for me, is usually the volume pedal or fx loop.
