  1. It shouldn't be too hard to remember if it is on or off. It should be off always, except that one day a month that you have a gig. And then you turn it on to adjust for the room you are in.
  2. Because it is easier for some people to buy a 5150 than to dial in tones on a Marshall - even when you consider that Eddie Van Halen used Marshalls for all of those years and didn't 'invent' the 5150 until someone offered him a boatload of cash to put his logo on it. Common sense always gets down voted by those who have none.
  3. true... But in the old days of pedals, you bought one wah and used it for everything. So, there should be a wah setting that someone finds appealing enough to use as their 'go to' wah.
  4. Guitar to pod. Pod to mixer via 2 xlr's. That is how I do it. I vote for XLR because every mixer is going to have XLR, but not all of them are going to have 1/4. It just makes it easier to be interchangeable and not have to adjust tones based on outputs. The rest of it is up to you. Yes, studio/direct is the best option, but that is your call to make. Yes, you may be able to make sounds with varying panning options (both on pod and on the mixer), but that is up to you to decide how you want it ran. Everything, once you get it plugged in, is up to you.
  5. Which is why I have learned to not use touch screens for certain things, or to check activity logs on the pc after using a touch screen for certain things. Hell, 10 years ago, I used to have the 'tap to click' feature turned off on my laptop because my cell phone would cause it to click.
  6. But Crayola still gives you a green crayon even though you have yellow and blue.
  7. I don't see too many more models coming. A few more, but not a litany of choices. I do, however, see more models being available for newer units. I can't imagine that the current pods were built with enough spare hard drive space to allow for too many more models. Plus, think about it, how many amps throughout the history of amps have a distinctive and iconic tonality that we would even want them. What are they going to do, sell Marshall MG models? Samick makes some amps, maybe we can clone them. I know, Kalamazoo! Eventually, they will have all of the main and secondary amps. Anything more than that is a waste of time.
  8. when you install the firmware, you have the option of keeping your files or not. Don't keep them.
  9. I like my HZ like I like my women.... Dirty or Pristine, no in between. There can only be 44.1 or 96
  10. Bite your tongue. Corporations are all evil and have boatloads of money that they make by not paying their employees a living wage..... I can't even say that lollipop with a straight face. Sorry, joke time is over.
  11. That guy just said "later this week it will be available for the non x models" Let the moaning begin when it doesn't happen ---- even though he isn't associated with the company at all
  12. Depends on what sound you are looking for. In the days of 'pedals'. I used to have multiple of certain ones. First, because it allowed me to have different sounds (because they were knobs and not digital presets). But also, because sometimes I wanted an effect before an effect and sometimes I wanted it after. Most likely, you are going to use it before the pod -- especially if you are using the amp models. But, it really depends on what you are trying to do.

    manual :(

Game of Thrones starts on Sunday.
  14. does the tone change, or are you blowing out your ears. I have the same problem, except mine loses high end. It's my ears, not the device.
  15. I don't use it, so I can't tell you from experience. But, in general, it really depends on what you are using it for. Making MP3's at 128k doesn't require 96. I can't imagine any 'dirty' guitar sound to need 96. Some people will even argue that you don't need 96 for anything that is recorded 'live'. Step recording, half speed recording -- ok, maybe they need it. Making 5.1 surround sound, sure. But not your typical everyday stuff.
  16. I am fine if they give us no more features (but I won't complain if they do). I want two support items (but not 'features') to continue until the day I die --- and then another 30 years after that. 1. Bug fixes. -- but at some point, you would think that all of the bugs will be worked out. 2. Connectivity. -- When Windows 69 comes out, I want to still be able to connect my Pod to it.
  17. the difference between the 500 and 500x was not a "iPhone4 and iPhone 5" one of the parts were no longer made, so they needed to 'upgrade' the part. ultimately, they are the same unit
  18. reinstall the firmware if it doesn't work, it is broken. If it works, then it was software.
  19. forgive me for being obvious ---- it sounds like you broke the knob

    manual :(

I encourage companies to provide the PDF (whether on disc or a download), but I also encourage them to provide free of charge a paper manual upon request. Yes, that means they have to shell out $3 for shipping. In the long run, they will still be saving money by not having to print a manual for every unit sold. That way, not everyone is forced to use a pc against their will. Even the phone company will provide you with a phone book if you request one even though they stopped producing them. There is no reason to assume that every user of a product has 24/7 mobile pc/internet access. And as you said, even those who do have it do not want to always be trapped in front of one to look up their info.

    manual :(

I have often wondered the same thing --- if it is expected that we know certain things from previous devices. The problem with that, is that it encourages the 'iPod generation'. Buying every new device when it comes out. My last fx unit was bought 25 years ago.
