The edit software. Saving patches to the pc. Drag-and-drop them anywhere you need. I do this all the time. It's nice when I am at home. But it is also why (see my signature) I want to be able to do it on my android device -- I am not always at home! Once you get the hang of the drag-and-drop method, you should be able to do the entire 512 slots in under 5 minutes.

I view them as demonstration pieces, not keepers. No different than a demo button on a $15,000 keyboard. How else do you know what the unit is capable of, unless there is some sort of preset that shows off weird and unusual capabilities.

They have already changed the meters to digital units and have started charging different rates for different times of the day.

The whole 'going direct' thing is the best way to go. But, it will sound different. Nothing will ever sound the same. Close, but different. Even Mp3's sound different through a concert pa vs your home computer speakers. Close enough, but not exact. And, you know what... You can go direct to the recorder and to the pa so that the listener can have the same-sound experience. But then, you can still use your own amp to hear yourself if you want. It will change what you hear on stage, but not what others hear because it won't be mic'd.

without getting philosophical here.... seeking out personal glory by making sure your instrument stands out... doesn't that go contrary to the very ideology of the performance?

I tried Joost. I wasn't impressed enough to keep them. If I remember, it was a bundle, not patches or setlists. So make sure you are looking at your unit as a bundle.

And since my last setup lasted 20+ years, I have the history to backup my next line: I don't intend on buying a new product any time soon. From you or anyone else. (I go through more guitars than I do stripper girlfriends. But the rest of the rig remains constant.) But its good to hear, that as of today, they haven't changed things for you.

well.... First, remember, in the real/old world, we didn't have a way to change the volume of an amp without taking our hands away from our instrument. Even then, you couldn't set and re-set the volume to exactly where it was. That would just upset a sound man who spent hours doing sound check to make sure your volume was right. And since the pod is trying to recreate real life, changing amp volume isn't the first thing people think about. But there are a number of reasons depending on the application. For starters, remember, the pod isn't exclusive to guitarists, nor does everyone use the amp models. But really, a list of reasons to use a volume pedal are just too vast to list.

I second what Radatats says. In fact, I was writing the same thing before even reading the responses to see that he said it. Volume pedal as an fx block is different than the expression pedal controlling amp volume.

For starters: Computer. EDIT. And many backups. I have backups of bundles, setlists, and patches. So, yes, I may have a bundle, but I have every setlist in that bundle, and then every patch in that setlist saved too. And then, I have backups of my backups in case something happens to the original backup. I have, files for other units saved, plus a file for the original conversion, and then if I make any changes. The point is.... using a computer is always a good thing. As of right now, I have 40megabytes of patches. That doesn't include setlists and bundles and zips, or complete backups of everything. So, knowing that little tidbit... the answers are: A. First, use the drag and drop method, rather than the click-it method. But unfortunately, you can't import multiple files at a time. You can export them in bulk, but you can't import them. BUT, once imported, you can create a setlist so that the next time you want to import them all, you can import the setlist instead. Plus, as previously mentioned, a setlist can be yet another copy of all of the files. B. There is no delete. Using the EDIT software: You can drag a New Tone to overwrite the current tone. Yes, I suggest saving a blank patch, setlist, and bundle. C. You can't undo a last action. But in the EDIT software, you can click receive (in the upper left corner) to revert to the last saved item on the pod. D. You can't do the 8-patch selection. You would think that it would be an option, but it is not.

Thank you, Joel. But, anyone that thinks I was referring to notes is most likely to far gone to understand what you said too. KISS had the same problem with the first few albums. The studio was just not capturing what was being played. Which is why their tone sucks and the albums didn't sell even though the live shows were being sold out nightly.

Ease of use --- it gets easier. And isn't too hard when you consider the amount of options available, some of which aren't even available on analog pedals because they are pre-set with those options which is why we end up choosing one pedal over another. Here, you're given a blank slate and can build from scratch. Power button --- I don't think the rack gear needs one. The floor units do. However, that brings us to... Power plug --- I fixed both the problem of the button and plug, by having a case/board made, because I am also a professional musician and can't have my gear going without a case. It protects on stage and off. Blank Tone - While it is a good idea, I think the application on the unit would be more difficult than you think. And it is very easy to do on the EDIT software. 'working man' tones can be found on customtone, or around the web. I don't know how well a one-size-fits-all patch would work. Pop sounds different than rock which sounds different than metal which sounds different than metalcore. But... Being a professional, and using an untested fx unit that replaces every single piece of equipment you own is... I don't even like being backlined unless I trust the event coordinator. I had my pod for months before I took it out of my house, and I even had 'test gigs' with it before I started using it at real gigs. Although, admittedly, it is possible that my schedule is why it took me so long to feel comfortable with it. lol. Also, the autism makes me a little anal about certain things. ** And I will just like to point out --- be careful what you wish for. Not only is this technology years old, and probably going to be replaced soon (leaving you with an unsupported and outdated piece of hardware), but you also need to consider that L6 has been bought by a 'big box' manufacturer. It is totally possible that this is the last L6 product I ever buy because of the issues I have with other gear from the parent company. To me, they include "bells and whistles" like bluetooth and wifi, but the actual functions that you would buy a unit for is typically 5 years behind the rest of the industry. Its like buying a phone that has gps, mp3, camera, and everything you can imagine --- but it lacks the ability to make phone calls.

Well, I wonder if that is a change in one of the numerous FW releases. I haven't rebooted while in tuner mode for quite awhile. But yes, to clarify my previous statements: 1. With the unit turned on, the tuner stays on until you turn the tuner off. I know this because I had accidentally left my tuner on for a few days. 2. With the tuner turned on, if you power down, the tuner will be on when you power up. ~~~~although, this is old information and is currently in question.

The problem with trying to go for that particular album is: It was so poorly mixed that what you hear is not what they played.

Because 450% of our income goes to support a government tax or fee in one way or another. And yet, some people just continue to want more government! Yes, I said four hundred and fifty percent. Because I included the amount of debt the government takes on.

There are two phrases everyone needs to remember. 1. Ignorance of the law is not an excuse. This means that just because you didn't know you were breaking a law does not give you permission to break it. Nor do you get a slap on the wrist with a stern finger pointing -- now you know, don't do it again. 2. and the 2nd phrase has been stated in a few different ways depending on the legal document it is written in, but basically: A lack of enforcement in the past does not nullify the future enforcement of the law. Which means, that just because no one has been arrested in 175 years for the 1812 law that says you need to carry an umbrella at all times, does not mean that you can't be arrested for it tomorrow. But remember... having the tax collected at time of purchase is different than not owing the tax at all. I think it has been said many times, that everywhere is different so no one can say with a certainty on your specific situation. But it is quite possible that you owe and responsible to pay it yourself, it is also possible that you simply do not owe it. The question, however, is: Are you going to bury your head in the sand and just hope that you are not a tax cheat. And then, if the answer is yes, are you going to still complain about the 'evil rich people' that cheat on their taxes even though you are doing it too.

Others have said that you'll get a receipt when you buy it. That is the document that you need. How do you know that L6 hands it over --- you don't. But, if they give you a receipt with it showing that taxes were paid, and then they don't pay the taxes, that is their issue. *although, I can't say that with a certainty because you are in another jurisdiction.

That, I think, is going to need to be custom made. Or at least modified. You can modify a Jackson Rhoads case to fit a pod and a Strat. Or maybe a Gibson SG Double Neck. Anything case that starts wider than normal. But, ultimately, it would be easier to custom make it from scratch. I've been in many situations over the years. So screaming things out like 'custom made' is not that big of a deal to me. If you want something that doesn't exist, you either invent it, or pay someone to invent it -- that is why most people are in business; to serve an unfulfilled need in the market place.
