  1. That guy just said "later this week it will be available for the non x models" Let the moaning begin when it doesn't happen ---- even though he isn't associated with the company at all
  2. Depends on what sound you are looking for. In the days of 'pedals'. I used to have multiple of certain ones. First, because it allowed me to have different sounds (because they were knobs and not digital presets). But also, because sometimes I wanted an effect before an effect and sometimes I wanted it after. Most likely, you are going to use it before the pod -- especially if you are using the amp models. But, it really depends on what you are trying to do.

    manual :(

Game of Thrones starts on Sunday.
  4. does the tone change, or are you blowing out your ears. I have the same problem, except mine loses high end. It's my ears, not the device.
  5. I don't use it, so I can't tell you from experience. But, in general, it really depends on what you are using it for. Making MP3's at 128k doesn't require 96. I can't imagine any 'dirty' guitar sound to need 96. Some people will even argue that you don't need 96 for anything that is recorded 'live'. Step recording, half speed recording -- ok, maybe they need it. Making 5.1 surround sound, sure. But not your typical everyday stuff.
  6. I am fine if they give us no more features (but I won't complain if they do). I want two support items (but not 'features') to continue until the day I die --- and then another 30 years after that. 1. Bug fixes. -- but at some point, you would think that all of the bugs will be worked out. 2. Connectivity. -- When Windows 69 comes out, I want to still be able to connect my Pod to it.
  7. the difference between the 500 and 500x was not a "iPhone4 and iPhone 5" one of the parts were no longer made, so they needed to 'upgrade' the part. ultimately, they are the same unit
  8. reinstall the firmware if it doesn't work, it is broken. If it works, then it was software.
  9. forgive me for being obvious ---- it sounds like you broke the knob

    manual :(

I encourage companies to provide the PDF (whether on disc or a download), but I also encourage them to provide free of charge a paper manual upon request. Yes, that means they have to shell out $3 for shipping. In the long run, they will still be saving money by not having to print a manual for every unit sold. That way, not everyone is forced to use a pc against their will. Even the phone company will provide you with a phone book if you request one even though they stopped producing them. There is no reason to assume that every user of a product has 24/7 mobile pc/internet access. And as you said, even those who do have it do not want to always be trapped in front of one to look up their info.

    manual :(

I have often wondered the same thing --- if it is expected that we know certain things from previous devices. The problem with that, is that it encourages the 'iPod generation'. Buying every new device when it comes out. My last fx unit was bought 25 years ago.
  12. It must be a Windows thing. I have some USB items that have been doing the same thing for the past week. -- I hear the 'dumpdum' letting me know that a device has been hooked up or disconnected.
  13. Silly question, but since it is a computer issue it has to be asked ---- Have you turned your pc off and unplugged it for 5 minutes? As well as the Pod? And did you reboot when they were disconnected from each other>?
  14. Not the iPod Generation, the iPod generation (with a little G). Not like Generation X, or the Baby Boomers. But, the advertising mentality since Apple.
  15. Without presets to give examples of what a unit can do, you will never know what a unit can do. I think that the majority of people here will agree that its best to write over the factory presets. But we need them to see what fx are available and how you set them to get sound. Not that we are going to keep that sound, but without knowing the initial setup, how would we determine the starting point. Think of it this way... You own, or at least at one point owned, a Microsft Windows PC, I assume. Could you imagine getting it with NO pre-determined settings. Having to set it up from scratch the minute you turned on the machine. Screen resolution. Icon size. Sound schemes. Wireless. Sure, you immediately changed those things, but had you not known that your screen was set at 1600x900, you wouldn't know you wanted 1280x720.
  16. I don't see my Pod being a collector's piece in 30 years... other than it being "pre-Yamaha". And the reason for that is computer connectivity. You won't be able to do anything with it unless you also have a 30 year old computer. However, I see my Rocktron Pro G.A.P. and ART SGE Mach II (with X-15), which are already 25 years old as having more interest to people. They are stand alone devices. No computer needed. And face it, they are kick-lollipop units. In fact, in many ways, I would still prefer to be using those than my Pod.
  17. those WERE the most requested features

    manual :(

I think a lot of companies have gotten away from owner's manuals that get descriptive - regardless of paper/pdf or updated tech needing new manuals all the time. Even this new phone I just got. Big difference between the manual from my last phone, which was a big difference from the phone before that --- even though they were the from the same company and all high end phones (at the time). I am trying to find stuff in the manual that just isn't there. I am looking at this button on my phone that simply is not listed anywhere in the manual. Learning how to use the stuff and 'what does this and that do' is getting harder and harder. The only good thing is that Google and Youtube exist. Hey, I'd rather get it from the source, but as long as I can find trustworthy source, I don't mind getting it elsewhere. The problem is the thousand bad results that you have to sort through before you find one that you like.
  19. I would be more inclined to try this technology if they weren't guitars. Like, if they sold the pickups and controls (and whatever else is needed) so that I could stick them in my guitar of choice. I have these awesome playing guitars. That happen to have these awesome graphics. Let me replace the electronics. Have you cleaned the thing? A good waxing will get it back to smooth and glidy. I have some guitars that I prefer not cleaned because I like the 'drag' on them. And others that I like the greasy oily slick feel.

    1. the other way is faster and easier. 2. your way doesn't guarantee that everything goes back to blank.
  21. If you aren't in the forums everyday, then you probably weren't running Monkey every 5 minutes checking for the update because 'its the end of the month, where is it!'. Nor would you be here saying "why did the X users get it and not me" I use EDIT multiple times a week. Usually just to swap patches around, not to create or edit. I can't tell you the last time I had Monkey opened -- although, I did accidentally click it open a week or two ago.
  22. I am the one that constantly says "that's what the sound man is for", and I live by that. Probably by the time I was out of the 3rd grade, I never went on stage without a pa providing sound to the crowd. I may have sometimes lacked monitors and needed to provide my own volume on stage, but never for a crowd. Nor do I know how you run sound from the stage. If you aren't out in the crowd to hear what it sounds like, how do you know what needs adjusted -- in real time. If you can get away with it, good for you. That is not how I operate, and therefore can only speak on what I know.
  23. There are a lot more 500 users than there are 500x users. So, you really can think of it as beta testing. Testing product. Testing servers. Those poor x users, lol.
