The updater will recognize the device that's connected to your computer. Once listed, click on it and it will display a list of update options...follow the instructions. For my AMPLIFi 150, I had to turn it off and boot it in update mode, the update was painless. Be sure to back-up any patches you've made first!

I purchased my FX100 a day or 2 before the FirehawkFX was announced. I went in a different product direction, and it's working well. The recent price drop on the 150 and 15% discount made this easy, since I dig the FX100, and I've been looking for a larger Bluetooth speaker. For what they are (older modeling technology, modern mobile app), the AMPLIFi is exactly what I want. In the mid-tier space (PODHD, Firehawk), I have my other brand of modeling gear. I don't have a high end modeler, and the Helix is at the top of my GAS list.. For DAW monitors, I have a pair of KRK Rokit 5, the ugly gold ones that went on sale a few years ago since they were ugly ;) I'm not selling any monitors, I have a Vox tube amp, a few TC Electronic processors, and a few pedals. These would more than cover the cost of the Helix.

Not meaning to be snarky, but what I do is try the effects out and see what the controls do...it's time consuming but works better listening than reading a description. I get my amp model set, then add effects, usually ones I like and already use, unless I want to be in the "I just bought a new effect pedal" experience mode...i.e., trying an effect model I normally don't use. It keeps things from getting stale over time. When I add an effect, I set all the controls to center/noon, and adjust each between min and max to see what they do, then work on dialing in the effect I'm after. I enjoy this process...and I think hearing what things do is better than reading about what they're supposed to do

I've standardized on another brand's modelers (I have a few, that collectively cost about the same as a Helix). I dig the sounds, ease of use, mobile app and Bluetooth speaker of the AMPLIFi. Price, value, sound, works great for me. I'm interested in a Helix derivative, as it currently has more routing options than I need...but it's at the top of my GAS list. If I could sell gear I'm not using for a reasonable price, I'd get a Helix...I just have too much gear.

You could make different copies of your patches for different guitars - unless you have many different types of guitars to make it impractical, that is.

Yes, what I'm suggesting would provide a stereo signal; the headphone out is stereo; if you use a TS (mono) cable out of the headphone jack into a single amp, you are losing half the signal though I'm not sure which is being transmitted over TS (mono) cable, Left or Right? You could, possibly, hard pan your patches to either left or right, I think; once you determine which signal is being sent over the TS (mono) cable to your amp (left or right). This would be similar to summing Left & Right signals into a single mono output. The FX100, for example, has L/Mono & Right outs - this means it sums both left and right channels out of the Left (mono) if you only use this output (i.e., you get the full signal mono), however if you connect a cable to the right out, then the FX100 splits the signal into stereo left and right to the corresponding outputs. Yes, you can get a y-cable that splits male TRS (stereo) into two male TS (mono) ends as well; it's a matter of preference. I prefer having an adapter, which allows me to use my instrument cables from the female TS out of the y-cable. If you have a few instrument cables, the short y-adapter is usually cheaper than buying a longer cable. I can always use extra instrument cables, so I'd rather spend more on those than on adapters that I may not use as often. Again, just personal preference.

Sure, search on "Live Wire TRS(M)-Dual 1/4"(F) Y Cable". It essentially splits the stereo out of the headphone out into two mono outs. Get a male 1/4" TRS to 2 female TS y cable...you'll need two amps or something with left/right inputs... they have different sizes, ends and lengths, I just found the Live Wire example, other cable makers make them too... Something like this...

I'm not worried. ;) Regardless if Line 6 stops updating the Control mobile app or not, you can find used Android devices at a low cost, and use it as a dedicated controller. I got a "piece of crap" Android tablet free when I purchased a new computer last year. It really is crap for everything else (web browsing, reading PDF files, etc.) but works fine with the AMPLIFi Control App. If I had paid for this tablet, I would have returned it long ago...

I've had my FX100 for a year, I could gig with it but I have other gear for peformance. I just purchased a 150, if I had the floorboard I could gig with it too, but not why I purchased it. If you want "latest and greatest", you'll need to get a Helix IMO. AMPLIFi seems to be reasoably supported IMO. As stated above, it sounds good give the model version (XT / X3) of the software...would be nice to get HD models, but that would need better processors, memory and cost more...so POD HD / FirehawkFX. Timelag is acceptable; though I hear a loud noise if I have any sound playing when I switch presets. I use mostly cleans, the quality of the sounds are good, but not state of the art, neither is the responsiveness...if you're looking for tube amp feel, get a Helix. ;) MIDI - FX100 is not designed for advanced floor control; AMPLIFi 75/100 with shortboard or new advanced board, POD HD, FirehawkFX or Helix... I really dig the Control mobile app; it works great for me, and it is the easiest modeler I've ever used for creating and editing tones. IMO/IME/YMMV

Just curious... what do you want to see in a manual? I have an AMPLIFi FX100 and 150. The Pilot Guide gives you the basics on what the controls on the hardware device do; the rest of the "brains" are in the AMPLIFi Remote mobile app which I find very easy to use. I'm not missing a manual...I don't see the need for one. What do you want to see documented in a manual?

Geez, generalize much? I have the mobile app on iOS and Android devices and have had very few connectivity issues (which are resolved by dropping and pairing, about 30 seconds), I've had my FX100 for over a year, and my 150 for about a week now...no connectivity issues at all since upgrading to the latest firmware and mobile app. One of my Android devices is a piece of "trash" that I got free when I bought a computer; the tablet is slow and locks up browsing the web or reading PDF files, but it works fine with AMPLIFi (go figure). Is your Bluetooth device old and outdated, have you updated it to the latest software versions? Are you in a "noisy" area with many wireless signals? Do you have many devices running bluetooth? Maybe some kind of interference... AMPLIFi, mobile app and Bluetooth all working fine here.

I have an AMPLIFi FX100 I run into my Bose L1 Model II system, works and sounds great. If I didn't have the Bose and I was looking for a powered speaker today, I'd get a pair of Line 6 StageSource L2M. Worth a look IMO

I just ordered the FX100 for this purpose, I like the workflow and control of using my Android phone instead of the typical small device screen and menus which my other gear has (and using the PC/Mac apps for these is great at home but does not help if you are at practice or at a gig!). I have an FRFR rig so the 75 or 150 is overkill for me, and I really don't want to go back to micing an amp, did that for years with my tube and rack rigs back in the day. Would be nice if the FX100 had an XLR out.
