    FRFR ?

Just a quote of the TXT above ;)
  2. Impedance is on "auto" but I´m unsure about the 1. FX in line (device is at home). Most times I use a noise-gate followed by a PEQ. Do you have any hints for recognising a digital clipping vs. unwanted frequencies in the highs? I will test your HG-settings when I´m able to do so.
  3. Hey Morbido. Did you found any solution to your problem in the meantime? Are you sure your problem is based on clippings or could they depend on fizzy highs too? What happens if you cut the highs by using the Global EQ at a value between 3000-4000 kHz? Does the clippings disappear? I'm using an aktiv EMG81 with very a high output and got some nasty tone too when I try to boost my high gain to lead. Maybe I do have to lower my overall loudness by channel-volume but I'm not quite sure which volume types can cause digital clippings and which are on the safe side. Maybe I'll give it a try to place the Mixer and its volume to the end of the chain.
  4. If this should be the main reason for a change you should not change to Helix, because editing on the HD500x is no magic if you get some practice. If the Helix would offer A/B comparison, undo and an alias-functionality on modules / presets I would suggest to change to Helix!

    FRFR ?

I'm really sure, that's the point. It took over a month for me to realize, that I DO NOT work on my sound than much more on my sound placed in the sound of the bands-mix which is delivered to the room by pa. And I have to force me to remember every single day again.
  6. I´m on FRFR. My Ex-gear (EXEF 6 Shooter with Rocktron Velocity 100 SS-Amplifier) had about 5 % more warmth in tone but HD500x + FRFR has big advantages in transparency and sound within the band.
  7. Could be some kind of technical-definition like pictured in MeAmBobbo´s Guide http://foobazaar.com/podhd/toneGuide/cabsMics#hiway412 Vintage __*_______ Modern Dark ______*___ Bright Midsy _*________ Scooped Loose __*_______ Tight Noisy ___*______ Hi-Fi Thin ___*______ Thick Smooth _______*__ Harsh By the way: A custom cabinet definiton using values like these would work fine for the HD  I´m more interested in defining my dream-cabinet using values as blindly trying cabinet-types and brands I do not know by myself.
  8. Unplug all unnecessarily cables (incl. phones, usb) and retry. Worked for me.

    FRFR ?

Global EQ is always available. Old Rocker, please be sure to place the PEQ after (!) the amp if following P.Hammers Video advice. Idiot that I am I placed it in front of the amp and didn't get it to work.
  10. Hi. I took a very short look at the pricing and lost interest immediately. I'm not into such expensive high-end equipment because I'm sure I would not even hear the difference compared to gear that costs a fraction of. For me it is important that I can handle my gear and there is no booming and rattle in my speakers. So I'm happy with my Yamaha DBR12 which offers me a wide range of frequencies without product based evil spots. Hope you can understand my grammar. By the way; I was playing a EXEF 6 Shooter Preamp for a decade and was very pleased with its sound of Marshall, Mesa Boogie and Fender. Very good work of Jochen Koeckler of EXEF but now it sells on eBay and seems to get away for something around 200 bucks. Do anybody still know the Six Shooter?
  11. What are you talking about if you use SS? I only find this as a abbreviation for 'seven string'.
  12. Yamaha DBR12 and DXR12 works well and can be found used or as b-stock if you search for it.
  13. Hm. 'Sounds best' is not only a complete personal thing, it could (unfortunately) end up in buying a speaker-system that is truly not FRFR, if you use your POD for sound comparison. In that case you could end up in another RRCC (Reduced-Range-Colored-Cab) which only looks like a monitor or pa-speaker. I would advice to check the FRFR speaker with audio-files of songs you know and like. And for live usages your speaker should have a minimum of 300 Watt RMA (more headroom is depending on the loudness of your drummer and 2nd guitar). Check out tech-specs and understand their meaning! For example check out the specs of my Yamaha DBR12 which offers some DSP features which are a benefit, especially when you use your FRFR as a monitor on a wooden stage.
  14. Can anyone confirm this (maybe by technical measurement)? I´m not quite sure, because of the lacks in sound, moving a device in the chain.

    FRFR ?

Any general experiences you like to share with us? ;) Maybe you'd done this before and have a link? Or maybe you got advices for us on setting the global EQ for some kinds of PUs?

    FRFR ?

No, I do not even know the brand. My problem is not the combination of HD (PREs) > Velocity > Cab, where I´m up to 95 % satisfied with my sound, my problem is my FR Yamaha DBR12 which seems to me to be to much FR for my tweaking skills. But hopefully CustomTone will help me in understanding, how to create a usable HighGain-Sound.

    FRFR ?

HighGain is my problem, too. So I will start to download CustomTones optimized for my Humbucker (emg 81) now. If they are proper sounding and well designed I will use them to create by MidGain and Crunch-Sounds. That should work because of the HighGain seems to have the biggest traps (for me).

    FRFR ?

How far are you on that way and for how long?
  19. Smashcraaft

    FRFR ?

Sure, but it would lead me to headaches, if I would have to filter out a frequency I first do have to locate and otherwise have to handle the GEQ correctly (under time pressure). I feel much better, to have my sounds as proper as possible. And so I like the advantages of a FRFR-System.

    FRFR ?

A very good reason to use FRFR is, that you find mistakes in your sound-design which could otherwise appear only on a perfect PA. But this unknown mistakes would surely break your neck in this case (f.e. perfect PA on perfect stage in front of perfect shaped female nymphomaniacs … and your sound is crap)! I got this case at the moment with my FR-sounds, created on a cheaper headphone. I plugged my HD into a Yamaha DBR12 and was very unhappy suprised about what was going on onto the highs ans lows
  21. velcro - what a lifesaving hack. Thank you for that!
  22. I wonder that the device is not distributed in Germany and there are no reviews on Amazon. Didn't anybody bought the EPSi?
  23. Does anybody know the weight of the FIREHAWK 1500? I can find no information about that.
  24. I use phones-out > 6,3 mm to 3,5 mm jacks stereo-cable and have an adaptor with 3,5 femal to 2x cinch permanently plugged into my audio receiver. This way I can link my POD very comfortable. Hope this helps someone.
