Go and find a used Superlux SF12A which sounds similar to my Yamaha DBR12 (maybe a little bit more like a amp-tone (maybe because of the higher weight)). You should get this baby used around 150-200 USD. This has IMO a very good price/ sound relation. http://www.customaudiodesigns.co.uk/audio/sf12a.htm http://www.superlux.com.tw/upload/function.product.info/346e201e-71d0-4d61-90b0-0e74824b767c/ss_SF12A_en_web.pdf

FRFR works with nearly the same air movement brought by a good powered speaker (like the Yamaha DBR12 or DXR12) but you might need a stand, to bring the speaker in position (used as a wedge-monitor might sound strange, cause you learned the sound coming from behind you). And you should choose a 12" and nothing less. I get it running this way (with a POD HD) and I'm totally satisfied.

Can't wait

Hm.. You could record a lick using different Mics and give it a try?
-
Thank you. Where do you measure with the meter app? Like a mic, direct in front of the speaker, or at a regular hearing distance?

In a pickle: Helix vs Pod but what do I really need?
Smashcraaft replied to cacheek's topic in POD HD
Is sometimes the only thing you are able to enter, if you want to enter nothing visible between to paragraph tags. What that means for the answer of praktikb... I'm unsure :/ -
I use my POD 500x with a Yamaha DBR12 as my Monitor and a Superlux SF12A for Side Fill or to get my tone to my mates on stage. I keep the master of the POD at max to minimize noise of the class-D amp of the the speakers. I feed the FRFR with the 1/4" outs and am always connected to PA via XLR. Loudness is no problem as I'm not half the way to max on the FRFRs. What I don't like in this setup is the need to grab around the speaker to level the volume, if there is a need to. But changing volume using the master on the POD would change the level going to PA and to FOH, so I see no other way except putting some hardware between POD and FRFR :(

Hey hurghanico. That did the job and fixed my problem. It took a while because my PC is occupied by my son most of the time (he is addicted to Minecraft) but I like to thank you very much!

Hey, nice riff :) Played it on different volumes on my Canton-PC Sound-System but I´m not able to define some valuable differences. Both tones sounds good to me.

If the down-key does not work try left, then up and right, too. Hope this will help :(

Are you willing to record a sound sample using this IR?

Best setup using a POD HD 500x with a Fender Mustang III V2
Smashcraaft replied to ldgante's topic in POD HD
Try to find a used Yamaha DBR12, DXR12 or a speaker named Superlux SF12A (which should be around 120$ and gets nearby the Yamaha-Speakers using its EQ). Keep an eye on the Watt and dB capabilities. dB should be >110 IMO. -
Can you please provide sound samples with and without the unit?
-
On which value do you use each controller of this unit?

Hijacking this thread: I started some test recordings with Cubans today and recognized a cracking sound when listening to my recordings (playback over the POD HD). Switching to standard ASIO-driver and putting the headphones to the phones-output of the PC removes the crackle. While playing, the crackle aren't in the signal too. EDIT: the crackle does not disappear leveling the input fader. And it is in distortion and clean sounds.

Try pressing the right or down keys on startup. Does this help?

Idea: New Cab IRs model pack for the POD HD series
Smashcraaft replied to AlexKenivel's topic in POD HD
Word! By the way... my idea depends on MeAmBobbos cab classification at Foobazaar (love you for your hard work on this. Respect, dude!) iii. Hiway 4x12 Vintage _____*____ Modern Dark ______*___ Bright Midsy __*_______ Scooped Loose ______*___ Tight Noisy ______*___ Hi-Fi Thin _____*____ Thick Smooth _____*____ Harsh Just guess the asterisk would be on sliders. For me it would be really cool to have the ability to dial in gear this way!- 5 replies

Idea: New Cab IRs model pack for the POD HD series
Smashcraaft replied to AlexKenivel's topic in POD HD
I would like to see cabs and mics which are more a description and less a type or a brand. Let´s think about declarations like… --------------------------------- cab 1 cold cab 2 cab 3 cab 4 cab 5 neutral cab 6 cab 7 cab 8 cab 9 warm --------------------------------- mic 1 smooth mic 2 mic 3 mic 4 mic 5 neutral mic 6 mic 7 mic 8 mic 9 harsh --------------------------------- Maybe my wishes are pointing in a unlogical or wrong direction but I am not a friend of blindly using Cab & Mic Models I do not even know.- 5 replies

I´m interested in users PEQ default settings too (I have to take look at mine later).

Don´t be afraid to reduce the HighCut to values around 6.5 kHz just to hear what happens. Try a value which first seem to be to much, just to get back later and check the HighCut with fresh ears again! Adjust the GEP back to 8.5 kHz and dial in the HighCut you liked using the MidFocus-EQ.

Search custometones for your pickup-type and sort the results using 'downloaded' and 'review stars'. Especially to filter the name of you PU should lead to a bunch of usable defaults for further tweaking.

I do like "Kirk Hammett" after just a little of tweaking http://line6.com/customtone/tone/874439/

Do you sum the signal manually to mono by using an effect or do you just center the panning?

… so more do I hope the pc-keyboard has still a lively user  ;) Here is my solution on getting rid of Fizz from another thread…
-
I have got rid of the fizz this evening :) The solution was a reduction of the Master DEP and RES in combination with increasing the BIAS to values over 50. And take care of PRESENCE on the amp! This can cause some nasty and unwanted frequencies too. It took some tweaking on the amp-EQ to dial back in the wanted tone but now the fizz is no longer recognizable. Thank you all very much for your support on this!
