I've had the same sort of freeze, where it still plays audio but all controls are unresponsive, maybe 3 times total, and not since 2.0. Wasn't connected to a computer any of those times. Agree it's not great, and hard to reproduce or debug.
-
Quoting myself, that's not an unimportant nitpick request, it's a huge convenience, and it completely solves this issue, regardless of what setting you want personally.
-
Hey Ben, have you tried to unpack setlist files? I built a thing to inventory the IRs and amp models used in a directory of patch files, as a web app. I'd make it publicly available if it was more practical to use, which IMO means handling setlist files -- one upload. My app is Cold fusion, could use Java easily of you had that decompression worked out.

Really, you should be able to save named presets for each block type, and choose one of them as the default. That said, I agree that it's unusual to want trails off, on would be the more common setting, and a better default for me.
-
You're right, no relation.

STOP!!! If your husband uses IRs (he'll know if he does), there are additional steps you'll need to do, both during backup and restore. I'm sorry but I don't have time to describe them now. Other posts here do, and other people may be able to describe the process. I don't mean to be a jerk, but there's a good chance that someone who doesn't know how to back up their Helix isn't using IRs, so this may not matter. But ask him, so you don't end up with a mess.
-
Seems like you may have a trigger-happy touch sensitive switch. Talk to support, they may have some ideas, if not, your Helix may need service.
-
FYI, installing ASIO4ALL, as suggested by Support, did let AT see and use the 2i2. It's not a real solution, but I've passed that info along to Support as requested to help them troubleshoot, and it lets me use AT in the mean time.
-
Best would be to record a dry guitar track, then record it re-amped through 2.10, update, then do the re-amp thing again, compare the files. Then you, and anyone who cares to know, will know if there's any difference, for real.

If you reload your patches from a bundle, that overwrites the new factory patches with old ones from the bundle. If you reload from separate setlists instead, you can bring back just your own setlists, leaving the new factory patches alone.
-
Please do, nasty thing. Good luck!
-
Support said this: Did that, no change. Same alert appears when I select ASIO from the Technology dropdown, so I can't select the 2i2.
-
Just FYI, you reminded me to try Amplitube 3. It crashes hard a few seconds after launch. Yay. I vaguely remember that that may not be new o my system, not sure, no reason to use it since AT4.
-
Just so I'm clear... Are you using the latest Amplitube, the one with the new Fender Collection 2? If so, was it working before you installed that, then not working after? Or did it just stop working without you installing anything? Are you using Amplitube with Helix for i/o, or some other audio device and driver? Have you reported this to IK Support? If not, please do, the more people they see having similar problems, the better the chances of it getting taken seriously, and of them finding a pattern.
-
Sounds like it's reverted to exactly my case, Unfortunate. As I reported earlier, restarting didn't fix it for me, and multiple vstis plus Windows itself are able to use the 2i2 at the same time, just not Amplitube, with or without other programs accessing it besides Windows. AT4 worked fine the last time I used it, which was before installing this latest update. Software is hard.

Maybe uninstall the app first, if installing over the existing version isn't working for you. It has for most people, including me. You're sure you have the right installer version?
-
Are you sure you updated the editor too?

- Setlist files definitely do contain all the data in all their presets. They're not just a list of presets whose data you also have to save separately. - The main reason to save presets as well as setlists is that if one preset gets trashed somehow and can't be imported, or it confuses Helix, you can import the individual presets that are still ok. - The upgrade instructions don't say to import setlists and presets, just setlists and IRs. - The main payload of setlist files is compressed. That's why they're not 128 times bigger than individual presets. - ...which brings up another reason to save individual presets too: They're not compressed, so they're more or less human readable should you want to. You don't usually need to do that, but for instance, in this case, you could look at your saved preset files to see if there was snapshot data in them. As you can see from the responses here, this isn't something people have run into, so once it's squared away, somehow, I don't think you need to be afraid to upgrade in the future. In any case, you need to be able to export and import your data, since you should always have backups in case of catastrophe, particularly if you gig your Helix. FWIW, I agree that the most likely thing is that you're not actually importing the setlist files that have the snapshots. I'd follow up on amsdenj and silverhead's suggestions for investigating that. @twystedriffs, if you want to post one or your setlist files here, or PM it to me if you don't want to do that, I'll see if I can figure anything out. No promises, at all, but it's worth a try. If you do PM it, please add a note here that you've done that; I never remember to look for PMs on this board, since I don't get or send many.

I've never had ASIO4ALL installed, and I've been using the 2i2 with AT and S-Gear and Studio One and other standalone amp sims and synths etc for years. Agree, this is odd. Hopefully I'll hear back from support soon. OTOH, while it's nice to be able to play this stuff in the living room, what I ACTUALLY want for real is that the 18i20 works downstairs, and hopefully that I can get Helix i/o running there too, which I've never tried. OTOOH, I just spent the afternoon Playing My Guitar through Helix and FRFRs, no computer, like I've been doing since I got my Helix, and it was Fun!

Thanks, but you're not quite hearing what I'm saying. The Panel button is always disabled for me, I think because it's the ASIO control panel, and Amplitube won't let me select ASIO in the Technology dropdown, gives the "Could not initialize Audio Device..." alert I mentioned. All the rest of my amp sims work fine with ASIO and the 2i2. Also, I'm not actually trying to use Helix audio right now. The 2i2 is my living room setup, Helix is down in the studio. I will try Helix and Amplitube at some point, but that's not this. BTW, I've only been playing through Helix since I got it, forgot how great S-Gear is. No diss on Helix, but S-Gear sounds and feels very nice to me. Used to like Amplitube too, probably still will when I get it working again. Still plan to use Helix most of time, and all the time out of the house, but credit where it's due.

I know I'm repeating myself, but while you said "all the above has been done", you didn't address the specific questions I asked. I'm not trying to give you a hard time, just making sure these things are covered. - What is your Global Settings > Footswitches > Preset Mode Switches setting? - If you try to rename the current snapshot, what name shows up as the default? In any case, it sucks that this happened, and I hope it gets cleared up without you have to rebuild everything from scratch. If there's no resolution here, send your setlist backups to Support, see if they can learn anything.
-
So you got your presets back, but not the snapshots they had? Never heard of that happening. Is it possible your global settings have changed so you don't have snapshots displayed on any footswitches now, but they're still actually there? If you try to rename the current snapshot, does the right name show up as the default?
-
Hmmm, an enticing possibility, but I don't know what you mean. The only dialog I see that maybe could be opened from Audio MIDI Set up is by clicking the Panel... button, but it's always disabled for me. And just to be clear, I wasn't trying to use Helix for i/o, just the same Focusrite 2i2 I've used for a long time for living room audio, but I can't get Amplitube to select ASIO to start with. This wasn't me trying to do something wild and original, or even serious on any level. I just wanted to plunk on the new Amplitube Fender Collection 2 a little. My laptop was upstairs, Helix and 18i20 downstairs, so I thought I'd do what I've always done up here, but no joy. If you can point me in a specific direction when you get back to your system, I'd appreciate it.

Tried every other amp sim I have, they all work fine with ASIO and the 2i2. That's S-Gear 2 (which is still awesome BTW), Studio Devil BVC, GTR 3.5, Guitar Rig 5, and ReValver Mk IIIdotV Standalone, no problem with any of them. AmpliTube OTOH can only connect to Windows Audio, with the expected horrible latency. I gather nobody else is seeing this?
