  1. Ah, so Line 6 IS the source of this mysterious rumor of Mystikal Incantations. Enlighten us mortals, DI, or some other inner sanctum resident!
  2. HO is right about how to create and maintain stereo sound inside Helix itself, and how to get that stereo image out and into another device (amp, DAW, etc). But even if you're using two inputs on the amp, unless they're separate paths all the way through - two separate preamps, stereo amp, stereo speakers - the end result will be mono, one signal. You can still make stereo patches for other situations, like headphones or recording, but unless your amp and speakers are stereo, you won't hear it there.
  3. If you're plugging the output into a mono amp, stereo in Helix won't make any difference.
  4. I use 1/4" cables for my Alesis Alpha 112s (like the Altos), reserving the XLRs for FOH.
  5. This google search find this topic and and presets, only: site:line6.com backdoor benifin, not to put you on the spot, but do you have the link to that info? Seems we're all confused, but intrigued!
  6. I'm sure you've tried most or all of these ideas, but just in case... - Try different USB ports. Only one of the three on my laptop is reliable w Helix, though the others seem fine for everything else. - Use a USB 2 port rather than USB 3 if you can. Seems generally more reliable for some people. - Try downloading the firmware-only file, and updating directly from that. Some folks have had success that way when the normal update process wouldn't work for them. -If all else fails, contact Support, they'll troubleshoot with you. Good luck, and FWIW, I'm sorry you're having such a crappy initial experience. Hope you get past it soon, and into the fun stuff!
  7. Where exactly did that phrase come from in relation to Helix reset options? I searched the 2.0 user guide PDF, didn't find it.
  8. Please report these bugs to support if you haven't already.
  9. Agree. I also support them getting SOME fixes out before they fixes for all known bugs. That said, I hope the other things people have reported as bugs get fixed soon, because they've definitely impacting some people. Folks who have these problems, if you haven't already, file a real support ticket to get them on L6's radar for real. Please don't just talk about them here.
  10. Yes, excellent and more than fair offer Markus, thank you. I have some time off after today, will grab one and check it out.
  11. Yay! Do I gather that there are only fixes in this release, no new features? I'm not complaining if that's the case, just asking, those bugs needed to be addressed, I skipped 2.10 because of them. Are people seeing that the mentioned issues are actually settled?
  12. What are these "backdoor" parameters? Not something I know about.
  13. Nice tones Peter, good stuff. Any chance of you sharing the preset?
  14. Re keeping block parameters when you change a block's type, as people have said, similar parameters don't always exist, or they may have a very different effect. In some cases though, especially with cabs, the same controls ARE there, and it'd be great if they didn't change when switching to a different cab. I'd love to listen to different ones with the same settings. If that was the default behavior, it would be good to have a button or other action to reset the whole block to its default settings, all parameters at once.
  15. The Mesa EQ is a graphic; its only controls are boost/cut for each band. Resetting those should set them flat, but it doesn't do anything.
  16. Agree w both the above. The Mesa EQ also doesn't reset correctly.
  17. Really hope we don't have to find out during a show or rehearsal or jam whether each particular combination of switches can actually be used. I currently run in 4 snaps + 4 stomps mode. Switching modes reveals another 4 stomps. By my count, there are 40,320 combinations of 8 stomp switches, times 4 snapshots. Not going to test them all, sorry. In software development, the need to test a zillion scenario multipliers is indisputably your enemy. Having Helix precalculate all that, preventing you from blindsiding yourself down the the road, is IMO wonderful.
  18. Based on my experience with the Amplitube Ambass'dor clone of it, I'd agree it has less top end than many distortion pedals. Was never one of my faves, and I can't think of a Beck tone they might have been going for w it, but scenarios and mileages vary of course.
  19. Or switch to a different IR if you're using them, that's just a parameter change.
  20. What if you're not on Facebook and don't want to be?
  21. Also, I'd much rather know when I build a preset that it's going to work, instead of finding out when I try to turn on certain combinations of blocks that I can't do that.
  22. Low stage volume needs buy-in from the whole band. Depending on the type(s) of music you play and what "low" means, it may be particularly hard for the drummer, unless they use an all-electronic kit.
  23. There's no way to back up or restore your global settings. Write them down. I'm not positive, but I think that applies even if you've never changed them, because the defaults may change.
  24. I've done this too, cool fun. Distortion, EQ, gain, those are the same things you get from OD pedals, only more control. Only thing is they don't have an overall EQ shape that's specifically designed to pre-process guitar before an amp. But you do have tone controls, and you can add an EQ of your choice before or after it too.
