    Amp switching

Yep. As rd2rk said. Tip for clean, none for Lead.

    Amp switching

You have to assign EXT AMP to a footswitch or an Instant Command. I also have an Blackstar (HT40). To switch between channels, I use a TRS cable from the HX PEDAL/EXT AMP output to the Blackstar footswitch input. Then I assign the EXT AMP (TIP) to an instant command to switch between snapshots. If you looking to just use presets, then I think you would need to assign it to a footswitch.
  3. I have read other Mesa owners complaining about amp switching and the HX Effects. I’ve always just used amp switching manually (not instants) between snapshots with my Blackstar.
  4. Scott Holiday of Rival Sons is now using one. Seen one in a few photos
  5. If you are running 4CM, then you are using either FX loop one, or FX loop 2 on the HX for your amp effects loop. So for example, if your amps effects loop is in FX loop 1, then you can run your external pedals in FX loop 2. For the pedals you want to run in the front end , you could just go the traditional pedalboard way - Guitar > wah > pog > amp. And put the spark in FX loop 2
  6. I had a feeling that was the case. But thanks anyway.
  7. Hi people, I've just added a Morningstar ML5 midi pedal looper to my HX effects setup. I'm running it into the FX loop 2 on the HX. FX Loop 1 is used for amps effects loop (4CM). And my question is, if I turn on 2 pedals at the same time in the ML5 (controlled by the HX), can I somehow have one pedal before the amp/loop, and one in the effects loop of my amp? Example - Boost (ML5) before - Delay (ML5) after. Thanks in advance.
  8. If I understand your question correctly, i think you're looking to switch your amp from clean to dirty from within the same preset. If so, you assign the EXT amp to the footswitch of your choice, then press that switch to change amp channels. If you want to save the state of your amps channel, then press the EXT amp switch to dim or lit (clean or dirty), hit save, save again, then your amps channel state will be set to that particular preset for future. Now if you're looking to switch the channels of your amp from within the same preset and also turn effects on and off, without having to turn off the effects manually, then you should use snapshots. So basically, think of a preset as a song And for example, snapshot 1 could be your clean channel with chorus, then snapshot 2 could be the dirty channel with a phaser and so on. Turn off phaser in snap 1, set to clean, turn on chorus, save. Then in snap 2, turn phaser on, turn chorus off, set to dirty, save. Then just switch between those two snapshots will make those changes automatically. Hope this helps.
  9. I use a TRS cable. Give that a try, and see how you get on. And take note of how you have the EXT amp switch setting set. ie, set to RING/TIP etc.
  10. How have you got the - tip - ring set in the EXT amp switch?
  11. Hi, As far as I know, the answer is no. You probably know that you can swap effects etc, to different foot switches. But i'm pretty sure you can't swap their functions.
  12. I hope I'm understanding you properly, so forgive me if what I'm commenting isn't relevant. But on my HX Effects, I have EXT AMP, set to Footswitch 6, then in snapshot 1 I have it for the clean channel (lit). Then for dirty on snapshot 2 (dim). Both are set to 1(Tip). Snap 1, set it to lit, save. Snap 2, set it to dim, save. And then it works. 2.80 update has added a "none" setting to control EXT AMP, but this can only be used in Instant Commands. Which seems very strange to me.
  13. Yeah, I'm interested to see if this now works, also. I'm messing around with it now, but still can't quite figure it out. In my case I'm sure it's user ignorance though.
  14. I've had this same problem for a while now, (HX effects) and still haven't found a cure for it. I also find the behaviour of the wah to be odd in other areas. On one snapshot it will work, but then I switch to another snapshot, with the wah assigned to that snapshot also, and it will only be ON in the heel position. Out of interest, what EXP input do you have your expression/wah plugged into?
  15. Thanks for the reply. Do you know if it essential that you turn the wah off before you switch snapshots? I was just trying what you said, which seems to work. But if I switch snapshots with the wah on, it seems to do what I said previously.
  16. Hi people, I'm having a problem with using my expression/wah (Line 6 EX1 pedal > expression input 2). I have a particularly song with 3 snapshots set up, with the wah assigned to all 3. The problem comes, when if I use the wah during a part on snapshot 1, then return the wah to heel position (off), I then switch to snapshot 2 and then use the wah again, but the wah then turns on in the heel position, then turns off when I rock the wah forward. Just wondered if anyones experienced anything similar, or knows a way round this. Thanks.
  17. Hi, I had a similar problem with my Blackstar HT40, but sussed it out after watching this video - And you may already know this, but make sure you use the right cable, i.e TRS, TS, etc. Hope this helps.
  18. Hi People, New to Line 6 and recently picked up the HX Effects, and I'm absolutely loving this thing. I'm now looking to add an expression pedal to my set up, which will predominately be used as a wah pedal. Can anyone recommend a pedal that could do this job best? I seen on a few other threads, that certain pedals seem work better than others, but would like to hear some thoughts from people who've had luck with theirs. Thanks in advance.
