  1. Yes, you can bypass blocks with MIDI CCs.
  2. I'm going to go out on a limb and say no... There is a 0% chance of it being updated.
  3. One thing regarding the SHARC chips being used in the Helix is that they're the same exact chips that Fractal is using in the upcoming FM3... So in that sense, they must be expecting the chips to be made for awhile yet.
  4. With the Mix at 50, the repeats will be roughly as loud as the dry signal, depending on the type of delay. Some models the repeats are always pretty degraded, so I suppose the only way to get the repeats as loud as the dry signal is to set the Mix to something higher than 50. In that case, yes, you'd want to use the Level parameter to compensate for the attenuated dry signal. I guess the reasoning behind setting the Mix control up like this is that it allows you to treat all these time-based effects (mods, delays and reverbs) as parallel effects. It's almost like having a controllable effects loop where you're controlling the blend between the wet and dry signal. It also gives you a consistent way to know what is happening to the dry signal. As long as you keep the Mix below 50, your dry signal will remain intact (one exception to this is the swell delays - in those the dry signal is affected by the swell effect). It also gives you the ability to create tones that are more wet than dry. So, overall, I think it's a little more flexible than other ways of handling it.
  5. No, there isn't a way to use HX Edit without a supported device connected.
  6. The way the Mix parameter is scaled for the delays on the HX line is different than most pedals on the market. It’s actually a balance control. At 0 you have 100% dry/0% wet. At 100, you have 0% dry/100% wet. At 50, you have 100% dry/100% wet. So that means if you move the mix past 50, the level of your dry signal starts decreasing. As long as you have it at 50 or lower, your dry signal will remain unaffected. Also, the HX Effects doesn’t have the variable input impedance circuitry.
  7. Well, it could be that you need to dial the gain back a bit... A fuzzy tone usually means you have too much saturation somewhere along the signal path. What type of guitar are you using? If it's something with higher output pickups, you might want to try setting the Stomp's input level to Line. Beyond the Drive (sometimes labeled Gain) and Master Volume settings, the parameters that are going to have the most impact on amp distortion are Sag and Bias. The Bias setting can have a pretty big impact. Setting the Sag lower will make everything tighter sounding.
  8. A high cut at 12kHz is going to have a pretty negligible effect on the tone... Going into a guitar cab, it will have no effect at all. There's not much happening up there. If you really feel you need to cut highs, you're going to need to be a lot more aggressive. As far as going into the Katana and Blackstar amps, those are guitar cabs, so you'd actually probably want to disable any cab blocks/IRs in the Stomp. Going into the Powercab, if you have the Powercab set to Flat Mode with the FRFR voicing, you'd be fine to use the cabs/IRs... If you want to use Speaker Mode on the Powercab, again, you'd want to have the cab block/IR block bypassed in the Stomp.
  9. As far as the exact steps to follow while updating the firmware, they're in the first post in this thread. Basically, once you have the latest version of Line 6 Updater installed, you just connect your LT to your computer and follow the prompts. In what part of the process are you having problems?
  10. I have somewhat of a hard time believing you're actually clipping the HX Effects' return... It's not outside the realm of possibilities, but you'd have to be running your amp's preamp really hot for it to happen. The fact that you say your hear clipping in the delay repeats makes me think it could be something else. Are you using the Vintage Digital Delay model per chance?
  11. It's kind of a cool idea, but I think it will end up being pretty heavy - perhaps heavier than the Powercab itself. The wood cabinet isn't exactly lightweight. I don't know, I guess I think getting an actual rack enclosure of some sort would be a better and way easier solution.
  12. The reverb mix thing only affected the HX reverbs, not the Legacy reverbs. The HX reverbs were introduced in the beginning of 2018, so that won’t have any effect on his presets.
  13. I use Windows 10 as well, and I've never had any issues with HX Edit or installing the drivers. I'm not really sure why you're experiencing what you're experiencing. I don't think I've ever had HX Edit crash on me. If you run into issues in the future, it would be good to open a support ticket so Line 6 can gather data on what's potentially causing problems.
  14. What operating system are you using?
  15. I don't think there's going to be a bigger and better Helix Plus or anything like that... There were external factors that drove the release of the HD500X. I don't think those sort of things are in play at the moment.
  16. Both of your transmitters were using the same channel. It's a little tricky with the G10 since, unlike the G10S, there's no way to manual select the channel you want to use. You can still use multiple G10 systems on the same stage, but you have to make sure you go through the automatic channel selection process with each one. So one of you should plug his transmitter into its receiver and wait about 15 seconds for the receiver to find the best channel (the transmitter blinks when ready). Take that transmitter out - it's set. After that, so the same process with the second transmitter and receiver. The receiver will select a different channel than the first one because the second will receiver will see that as interference. Take that transmitter out, and you'll be all set. The key is to not plug the transmitters back into the receivers again. If you do, you'll have to do this process again.
  17. Are you talking about the old Workbench or Workbench HD?
  18. What makes you think the IRs are being converted to 32 bit files? The 128 limit was just (somewhat) arbitrary. The Helix can actually store many more.
  19. Make sure you don’t have HX Edit open. If you’re you don’t, you can try forcing the Helix into update mode by holding down footswitches FS6 and FS12 while powering up. Other than that, try using a different USB cable and/or USB port.
  20. Not really... You can put the Stomp in Bypass All mode, but as soon as you hit any of the switches, it will go back into the preset. The Stomp's architecture is a little different than the H9 in the fact the H9 is running one algorithm per preset, and you're just bypass that algorithm. With the Stomp, there's six block in a preset, and you can bypass any or all of them however you like. If you wanted save the preset (or a snapshot) with everything bypassed, you could most certainly do that. The other thing is you can go into Preset Mode, and you scroll through the banks, the preset won't be active until you stomp on the switch for that preset. So you can start scrolling ahead of time and then just hit the switch for the preset when you want to activate it.
  21. I got the +16dBu rating from some other gear that uses the same A/D converters that the Helix uses. In reality, the Guitar In is probably a little higher than that because Line 6 has some proprietary circuitry that increases the dynamic range of that input from 114dB to 123dB. The other inputs should be rated at +20dBu. I believe the main reason Line 6 doesn't publish this sort of data is simply because they believe (rightfully so, imo) that the vast majority of users 1) don't care and 2) don't really understand what it means. Also, it seems that the main use of such information is for people arguing about the superiority of one platform over another. They end up just being smokescreens.
  22. There are 4 snapshots per preset.

    Bass Octaver

There is a Bass Octaver effect under the Pitch/Synth>Legacy menu. It’s based on the EBS Octabass effect.
