  1. This describes me to a "T", especially the idiot part. So far so good for me and I've been very happy with my system. Just my 2 cents.
  2. If the bridge was not floating before, when you bent the strings, there was likely no give as the springs were very tight. Now that you have adjusted spring tension, and the bridge floats, the bridge most likely "gives" when you bend, allowing you to bend them easier. However, the pitch will also change in this circumstance, so you would have to bend the strings a bit more to get the same amount of pitch change. If you look at the bridge now when you bend, I suspect that it is reacting to you bends in the slightest way as if you have lightly used the Trem. Have you always played a trem equipped guitar or have you played hard tails before?
  3. There's a topic somewhere here on the forum that describes how to setup your airport express to use the 5Ghz band to reduce the interference you can get from other devices using 2.4Ghz. I also recall Don Boomer saying that this requires more of a line of sight between the iPad and the airport express (so raise it up if you can) but I have found it to be very reliable in my experience. No dropouts like I had early on.
  4. I am only using them as mains - all controlled from the M20D and the L6 Link. I bought them in case I ever needed to use the mixer in them, kind of a backup or ever did a solo/duo type gig - which I have not done yet - nor do I have any short term plans but maybe someday. If the M20D ever went down during a gig, at least I could run a couple vocal mics out through these and get through the show - without having to bring a backup mixer.
  5. I have 2 L3t's as mains for my setup. I've never had an issue or worry about the mixer section when mounting them on poles for gigs. They are recessed and aren't in a place you would tend to grab when raising them. As for transportation, I bought some crates online that I use for them. That way they can get slammed around, piled on top of, and I have no worries at all about them.
  6. I have an L3s now, but I did use different subs previously without any issues at all.
  7. I have done at least a dozen, if not more, shows since this happened without the issue recurring.
  8. I had something similar happen. We took an early break and checked all cables. I had one cable, short run from L3t to L3s that was a standard XLR cable. The L3s then ran to another L3t which is the speaker that was having problems. Problem went away and has never returned. I now use the recommended cables to all speakers. One speaker seemed to be affected and it kind of sounded like a blown speaker but not quite. Kind of a fizzy buzz mixed in with the regular sound. Was it the cable? Don't know for sure as I never really went back to recreate it. All I do know is that it works every time now.
  9. After searching a little, other videos show her using this guitar dating back a couple years so my previous comment is probably just wishful thinking.
  10. Obviously a heavily customized one. Very cool looking. Maybe we'll see something like this at NAMM??? Perhaps why the current line of 69's appear to be discontinued?
  11. Just read this quote today: "The problem with today’s world is that everyone believes they have the right to express their opinion AND have others listen to it. The correct statement of individual rights is that everyone has the right to an opinion, but crucially, that opinion can be roundly ignored and even made fun of, particularly if it is demonstrably nonsense!" Brian Cox This is not aimed at anyone in particular - just a statement I found interesting given all of the opinions expressed in this thread (and on the internet in general!!) Cheers everyone!
  12. It was a number of years after the initial Variax generation before the JTV's were introduced. And for that, for the first time that i am aware of, they went out to the user community to get input on what people would like to see in the next generation of Variax. Even after that, people complained. It appears that Line 6 have been focused on the Amplifi line of late. Before that it was the Speakers. Before that it was the M20D. Before that it was the HD floor POD's... Each one of these lines has people wondering what's going to happen next with them. IMHO, I think that they work on a cycle and it just takes time for the focus to come back to specific product lines. I was hoping that the Yamaha take-over would infuse more $$ and therefore more people that would improve this but it's been a year now... Anyway, as a Line 6 user for several years now, starting with a Variax 300 many years ago, this has been my experience so far and patience has been what it takes for things to happen.
  13. FYI - A new folder is created every time you press the Record button. They are typically named Recording1, Recording2 (or something along those lines).
  14. I haven't done it recently (in a few months) but I have taken my Variax as a carry on many times. Never took the battery out, never loosened the strings. Never had a problem. Was typically flying Southwest within the US. Did bring it to Canada one time as well. Security on my trip back thought the inner workings looked really cool. Let me through without a problem. The soft gig bag fits well into most overhead bins all the way to the back, allowing someone else to also out in a larger bag in front of it. Never got any complaints from other passengers that it took up too much room.
  15. Sorry for the delay in getting back to this thread but... so far so good. The switch is acting normal in Variax mode in position 2.
  16. I will be practicing tonight and gigging tomorrow. I will report back after that on the status of the guitar.
  17. Something similar happened to me tonight. All of a sudden, positions 1 and 2 would have be the same presets. Switching from position 1 to position 2 essentially did nothing regardless of what guitar setting I used. All other positions were fine. Playing through the mag pickups was not a problem. I decided to reflash the memory. I was using version 1.9 and reflashed it. The situation remained. I have a gig Friday so I decided to save a my custom settings that I use in a different position than position 2. Only a couple so that was easy. I also have a custom tuning that I use for practicing. When I set that up and saved it, position 2 worked again. All presets that you would expect in position 2 were now accessible for all guitars. I played for another 30 minutes and all was well. Very strange.
  18. I experienced this sizzling sound through an L3T at a gig one night. During the first break, we re-checked all of the connections and cables. This particular speaker was at the end of the line. We ended up swapping out one of the cables and the problem went away. Have not had the issue since and have had several gigs between then and now. The cable we replaced was just a short 10 foot XLR between one L3T and and L3S. It was a cheap cable and we were short on time so I decided it might be the cause so just replaced it. I never did go back and try to recreate it to confirm whether it was the cable or just a loose connection. I only use high quality cables now and double check that they are well seeded when setting up.
  19. I have been using MicroSD cards regularly without any issues but one, and it wasn't while recording on the M20d. I was using the card to copy the recorded files from it to a PC that I am using to mix after the fact. After the files were copied, I deleted them in preparation for the next time I would use it. I may have used it in the meantime for other purposes and on various laptops/PC's to copy files around. Just before the next gig, I tested out the 2 cards that I use in the M20d to make sure all would be well for the gig that evening - which I typically do so that I have no surprises at the gig. It could not read from one of the cards, so I put it aside and used another for that night. When I had time to test that card out, in various PC's, none of them could read it. I was about to throw it out when I decided to test it in another adapter I had lying around, and lo and behold it worked, in every machine that I tested it in including the M20d. So, I have had the experience where an adapter went bad on me - thankfully not during a recording. I have recorded about 10 gigs using MicroSD cards in adaptors without any issues. I have also used USB sticks successfully to record but have gone back to SD cards now that I am using my iPad to remotely control the M20d and I need to USB to connect my wifi.
  20. I have a 69 and we detune a half step. You may need to adjust the tension of the springs for the trem, but that's for your personal preference.
  21. I've seen different mAh levels (milliamps per hour??) on different rechargeable batteries. I have some AAA's here at my desk. 3 brands. The Duracell ones are 1000 mAh, the Enercell ones are 850, and the Radio Shack ones are 700. I don't have the AA's that I have used before here at work so I can't report on those. This may only affect how long they will last. What voltage does it say on the battery? If it says 1.5 V but is only outputting 1.35, then you have purchased sub-quality batteries. I too have used rechargeable batteries successfully in my Variax 300 in the past.
  22. We don't have a sound man as it's typically me (guitar player) that does it while playing. So it's set it and leave it type of thing. At our gig on Friday, I passed my ipad to a buddy and gave him a 2 minute tutorial mainly on adjusting levels and let him go for it. He had several people come up to him during the night to confirm that he was controlling the sound as they said we sounded awesome all night long. He smiled and said he was just tweaking minor things here and there, which was exactly what he was doing. This was a new bar for us so lots of new people, and we continue to get rave reviews on our sound quality. The manager could not wait to book us again. Cheers!
