  1. Hi, Short answer - No! The Helix family of products are based on a completely different modelling engine and are not even remotely compatible. Over the past 10 years of Helix, many folks have tried, and failed, to recreate patches from earlier Line 6 modellers. Even if you think that loading an older preset into Line 6 Edit, and making a note of every detail of the settings of every component of the patch, and then using those details to rebuild a preset in HX Edit for your unit - it will not work! Don’t waste your life - learn how to build presets using the newer models. You will be far happier, far sooner! Oh, yeah, I started out with the old Red Kidney Bean POD, and I still have a POD XT Live and a POD HD500 gathering dust in the corner of my studio, but bought my Helix Floor back in 2015 and use it almost daily. It’s a world of difference. Tools for the job. Hope this helps/makes sense
  2. When seeking assistance from other users, it’s a good idea to provide as much information as possible. You stated that you have tried using both Mac and Windows machine to connect without success. You didn’t mention what level of OS is running on these computers - it may, or may not be relevant. You also didn’t say if this is the first time you have tried to connect, or if you have had it working previously without issue - if so, what changed? Regarding the Windows machine. Avoid using a USB Hub! You should be aware that on some PCs the front USB ports can behave like a hub and it is recommended that you connect to a USB slot on the rear of the machine? This rear port is most likely mounted directly to the main board and is probably a more stable connection. Furthermore, if you are trying to connect HX Edit on the PC, please ensure you are using the latest drivers for the software and that your version of HX Edit and the firmware on Helix device are on the same revision. Also, (more USB voodoo), just because the USB cable you're using works with your printer (or whatever) doesn't necessarily make it suitable to hookup to your Helix. Ensure you USB cables are designed for data transmission, some are for charging only. Check all your cables if you are suffering drop out. Over the past 10 years, this place has become full of threads regarding flakey USB, but there are still many thousands of happy Helix users who never seem to have USB problems. I don’t understand how you cannot raise a ticket with support? You must be able to access your account details, as you are obviously logged in to be able to post here. Please try again. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. Hi, I got a little bit of time this afternoon to fire up Reaper to start to check out your MIDI issue. It has been such a long time since it had been loaded Reaper decided to collate/update all my plug-ins - around 300 including, my software instruments. Anyhow, it crossed my mind that you didn’t tell us what MIDI controller you are using to transmit the Control and Preset changes into Reaper. So, while Reaper was trawling through my VST/ AU folder, I had a quick look on YouTube and found this video. Not sure if this will cure your switching problem, but it seems to work just fine for this guy. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. Hi, When weird and unexpected things happen the first line of defence is to perform a factory reset: - Helix LT Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. Note: If this doesn’t clear the problem, it maybe advisable to reinstall the Firmware. You didn’t mention what version you have in your LT, but upgrading to the latest version (3.80) helps to fix various known bugs. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. A little late with the reply, but I’ve been out of the loop for a couple of days, and got a funeral next week. Ho hum, nobody gets out of here alive, and at our age I sometime you wonder if there is any point in leaving the cemetery! Yup, I’m a Mac jockey, but mainly with Logic, although I do have a few more DAWs (Reaper, Studio One, Ableton, GarageBand, Avid PTools, etc.) available as test beds for situations such as this. I will need to check this out when I get into the studio, and like you I generally use Native for re-amping duties rather than MIDI automation. First I will have a look at the Dropbox video for any clue. This may require some head scratching, unless anyone else can jump in on this a little quicker. L8rz
  6. Hi, This is a user to user forum. There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). Regarding the faulty LT Expression pedals - IIRC, there was a spate of broken EXP incidents with the early production run of the Helix LT unit. At the time, anyone who had this issue was advised to contact Customer Support, and the faulty item was replaced. This stuff is generally covered by the warranty, and I’m surprised that you haven’t taken steps to have the problem fixed. Maybe a little late now to get a free fix? Anyhow, this problem never happened with the Helix floor, which is constructed from chunky aluminium, and looking at the extruded aluminium case and folded steel base on the Helix Stadium XL - I wouldn’t worry. There is even a separate pedal available - the EX2 - which is described thus “*sturdy cast aluminium chassis and treadle ensure reliable performance”. I guess they don’t intend to cut any corners on this one, but you pay your money and take a chance. Anyhow, you really shouldn’t worry because it will be covered by warranty - if you could be bothered to follow it up. Use it, or lose it! Hope this helps makes sense.
  7. Hi, O.K. Here we go I just downloaded the preset that you linked from Customtone, and loaded it directly into an empty slot on my Helix floor - No problem! I then loaded an instance of Helix Native in Logic Pro, and once again dragged the preset into an empty slot - No issues whatsoever. The error code states "Invalid Model", and when I checked the signal path, the Amp Block is "German Extra Red" which is based on* the Bogner Ecstasy 101B Red channel. That amp model was introduced in the last Firmware Update version 3.80 released on 19th November 2024. If you are not running the very latest iteration of Helix Native (v.3.82 - Dec 3, 2024), then that amp model will not be available to use in your software - hence the "Invalid model". The only other thing that may explain the issue, is that the preset was corrupted during download, or possibly you do have the latest version of Helix Native, but the preset compatibility settings are set for something like HX Stomp, or Stomp XL. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Hi, This is a user to user forum. There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). If you feel the need to kick up a fuss, the best way to get a result is to go to a Helix specific thread in the “Digital & Modeling Gear” section of The Gear Page website and state your case, and target your post for the attention of both Frank Ritchotte and Eric Klein (Digital_Igloo). They are the 2 top guys at Line 6 who are in a position to kick some butt and expedite a fix for your issue. Way back in the early days of the Helix LT, there were quite a number of them that had faulty/broken expression pedals, and IIRC they were all replaced for new ones - no quibbles. Hope this helps makes sense.
  9. Yup, it sure has, check this thread from 2018, especially the reply from “revans” listing Helix = Strymon Reverbs. IIRC, Strymon evolved from Damage Control which was created in 2004 by a couple of guys who had previously worked for both Alesis and Line 6. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. Huh? A Global setting means it is effective on each Preset across the entire device. Provided that you don’t SAVE any changes you make, then everything remains the same. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. Hi, Simple solution - I would suggest that as a new owner of a HX Stomp, you might want purchase “The Big Book of Helix Tips and Tricks” compiled by occasional forum contributor Craig Anderton. It is available as a digital download pdf from Sweetwater - see link in thread below. I mention this simply because the Big Book actually contains two ideas for creating custom Wah pedal settings, one of which includes Q control. See the sections - “The Secret Wah” and “The Customizable DIY Wah”. Presets for both of these are included, along with lots more free Presets Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. That may be the case, but it is the most likely place to find Eric in his guise of Digital_Igloo. Plus it was in TGP where he first mentioned the continued support for the original Helix range of products.
  13. This info is listed here under the menu above - Select "SUPPORT", then on the following page select "FIND A SERVICE CENTER" to reveal the full list. This is the section covering the UK and it shows that there are 4 options available including Scotland Majid Mirza T/A Gearfix 0141 204 0322 info@gearfix.co.uk Kenny's Music 61 Jamaica Street Glasgow G1 4NN Scotland, United Kingdom Bare Tech 07555 997424 support@bare-tech.co.uk The Gatehouse, Southgate, White Lund Industrial Estate Morecambe LA3 3PB Lancashire, United Kingdom Sontec Electronics Ltd 01603 483675 customer.service@sontec.co.uk Sontec House, 30 Concorde Rd Norwich, Norfolk NR6 6BE United Kingdom Electronic Music Services 01702 613172 service@electronicmusicservices.co.uk The Rear of Prittlewell House 30 East Street Southend-on-Sea SS2 6LH United Kingdom Hope this helps/makes sense
  14. Hmm… and just how do you know that “it wouldn’t take much to add this” to the existing HX Edit? When it comes to knowing things, Eric is the go to source - he has previously stated that this feature will not be available for HX Edit. Plus, the whole concept of this feature appears to have come about from the development of the Stadium, and is therefore tied to that platform. After 10 years of using a Helix, and having followed every development, and firmware update, I have come to the conclusion that when Digital_Igloo says it ain’t gonna happen, then that’s the way it is. Although, Eric did also say that the current range of Helix products will continue to receive updates AND new features. Exactly when this is likely to happen, and for how long it may last, is in the lap of the Helix gods in Calabasas. But, hey you never know - although I wouldn’t hold my breath! The world keeps turning and things move on. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Yup - I get the idea that you are having a laugh - just copy and paste someone else’s question! Well, here ya go - a copy and paste reply! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Hi, This is a user to user forum. There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). As you mentioned, the last update for HX Edit was this:- HX Edit 3.82 (released December 3, 2024) includes the latest graphic updates. Please copy and paste or open this link in a browser of your choice to view the full 3.80 release notes. Compatible OS: Mac OS X, macOS Big Sur, macOS Catalina, macOS Monterey, macOS Sequoia, macOS Sonoma, macOS Ventura You are trying to run HX Edit on a platform that is not listed in the tested and Compatible OS. Mac OS 26 - Tahoe was only made available on general release from September 15th 2025 Looks like you have encountered one of the perils of being an early adopter of bleeding edge technology. Two options - revert your OS back to one that does work with HX Edit 3.82, and/or raise a ticket with Customer Support. Don’t hold your breath waiting for a fix for HX Edit as it would appear that most Line 6 folks are busy with the Helix Stadium upcoming release. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: You could try posting in the Digital & Modeling section over on TGP, and see if you can attract the attention of Digital_Igloo, who is possibly the only person who would know how things are going!
  17. Here we go again - https://blog.line6.com/2023/09/15/eric-klein-at-least-half-of-your-modelers-sound-is-determined-by-your-playback-system/ Plus there was this from a while back - Hope this helps/makes sense.
  18. Hi, Helix Native is identical. It’s exactly the same software “brain” that that lives inside the hardware. Provided that you listening the same piece of audio through the same output system there should be no discernible difference. Obviously, you lose access to various hardware features, such as wah/volume pedal, Send/Return, Looper, etc. In fact, here is a quote from the Helix Native Pilot’s Guide, page 3. ”Helix Native truly is the same set of astounding amps, cabs & effects as included within the ground-breaking Line 6 Helix hardware multi-effects units and shares the same simple user interface and workflow as the Line 6 HX® Edit editor application for Helix family devices.” You can access the Pilot’s Guide by clicking on the question mark icon the bottom left of the Helix Native plugin window. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Well, now I know that you haven’t read the guides as I suggested, because you would have realised that the reference to page 10 is incorrect. That quote is from Rev F (2.70) from back in 2018, which I opened by mistake. Having said that, it still remains valid, as of the current version, Rev Y (3.80) - 2024 on page 14 - “Importing and Exporting Preset Files”. The most important thing to note about saving presets is - ‘The familiar “save” window is presented, in which you can edit the filename and choose a destination folder.‘ which has remained unchanged from the previous section that I highlighted in red. That indicates that you are free to save your presets to whatever folder, directory, or disk you wish. It’s not complicated and it would appear that many thousands of happy Helix users have managed to navigate this system over the past 10 year of file saving. I hope this makes sense!
  20. Hello again, I did advise you earlier that it would be a good idea to spend some time reading through the Owner’s Manual along with the HX Edit Pilot’s Guide where on page 10 it explains this detail - I have highlighted the relevant bit in red italic type, so it’s easy to find! To Export a Preset File - Select the preset by single-clicking on it in the Librarian - Presets panel and select the Export Preset command. This creates a copy of the preset in its last-saved state from your Helix or HX device's memory and saves it to your computer. The familiar "save" window is presented, in which you can edit the filename and choose a destination folder. By default, .hlx preset files are exported to the following directories. • Mac - /Documents/Line 6/Tones/Helix folder • PC - \My Documents\Line 6\Tones\Helix folder” Also found on page 10. Drag and Drop Presets Please read, study and inwardly digest! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. Hi, Yup - export the empty Setlist and give it a name such as "Empty Spaces", that way it will always be available to to re-import and overwrite all your test presets in one go. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. I’m becoming more, and more confused by some of your questions. A little research before diving into the deep end is always a big help. You say it is a box fresh HX Rack, in which case you should have available:- 8 Setlists each containing 32 banks of four presets (A, B, C, and D). Grand total of 1,024 locations for you to store presets. Possibly, on a new unit, the first 2 Setlists will be populated with the regular factory presets, and Setlist 8 containing various Template configurations for you to experiment with. Working with this information you should find that the stock Setlists 3 through 7 comprise of nothing but “New Preset” (blank preset) slots giving you 128 places to load any CustomTone presets in each set list. Also, you don’t always need to save each individual preset, because you can arrange presets into whatever order you wish and then export the Setlist. Note: you can export a Setlist containing only blank “New Preset” slots which means you can effectively blank out 128 presets in one go. I seriously advise that you sit down and read the Rack Owner’s Manual, and the HX Edit Pilot’s Guide, regarding file management, backup, restore etc. Next - regarding CustomTone downloads, a word of warning. Many people find they are very, very disappointed to discover that the supposedly perfect recreation of (insert guitar hero of choice here) legendary tone does not live up to expectations. There are many, many reasons for this, for example:- different guitar model, pickups, strings, playing technique, environment and playback system. It has been discussed at length in here. Consider this, a tone created in a studio with large monitors, or for live work through a PA system, isn’t really going to hit the mark through headphones in a bedroom. I’m not saying they are all bad, and there actually some very good commercial presets available, but not everything works for everybody, otherwise we would all sound the same. Let’s face it, Eddie Van Halen sounded like EVH, simply because nobody else did. The best thing is to learn how to sculpt your own tones for your particular use. Hope this helps/makes sense. This is worth reading too! https://blog.line6.com/2023/09/15/eric-klein-at-least-half-of-your-modelers-sound-is-determined-by-your-playback-system/
  23. Copy and paste a blank preset over whatever you want to delete - simple! Most of us have been doing that for the past 10 years. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Nope, it’s not mandatory, but the latest version of the firmware will be full of extra goodies, and general bug fixes that make life a lot more fun. IIRC, I have seen mention that it is not unusual for retailers,(eg. Sweetwater) to have loaded the latest firmware into HX products before they are shipped out. The usual clue that this has occurred is that people have fired up their new device, only to panic when all the slots seem to be blank and are populated with “New Preset” as the name. Factory reset fixes that. Anyhow, if you did return the unit after installing the latest FW, you will have saved someone else from having to do it. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. Hi, From the Owner’s Manual page 5 https://line6.com/data/6/0a00051afd4e673ccaf2d15b4/application/pdf/Helix Rack and Control 3.80 Owner's Manual - English .pdf “First, install the latest HX Edit software version on your Mac or PC (available at line6. com/software), connect Helix Rack to your computer’s USB port, and HX Edit will check online and let you know if a newer firmware version is available. If so, HX Edit will then walk you through performing a full device backup and firmware update, all within minutes. Please see the HX Edit Pilot’s Guide for full details.” HX Edit Pilots Guide - here: https://line6.com/data/6/0a00051aff0e673cd37585ccd/application/pdf/HX Edit Pilots Guide 3.80 - English .pdf Note: Both the Helix Rack and PC need to be connected, and powered ON, via USB or you will not be able to update the firmware, or remotely edit your presets. They have to communicate! Just plug ‘em in. Hope this helps/makes sense.
