  1. I couldn’t find a video that covers all the ins and outs of the HXFX, but this is a good one showing some fun stuff with the HX Stomp, using both Mono and Stereo hook ups. I don’t have a Stomp, or HXFX, mine is the Helix floor, but I guess the techniques are very similar throughout the range of HX devices. I know it is on mine. Check the Owner’s Manual for your unit for precise clarification of the signal path options:- Page 36 - Parallel Path Routing. Hope this helps/makes sense. Oooh! Here’s a link to a bunch of getting started with your HXFX videos.
  2. Hi, again. No, right from the start you are misunderstanding the working of the device! You plug in a guitar into the Left Input which is designated “Mono”. Fine but, after that everything that happens to the signal path is theoretically stereo. Therefore, your “Mono” input appears at both left and right outputs as “Mono”. Ok, so far? Now, you add a second input on the right - O.K. That now becomes part of that original stereo path. The two input signals can be directed to either left or right output. You need to point them to where they need to be in the stereo image. This is called panning. Or even easier, stick a Ping Pong delay onto the original Left (mono) input path and listen to it bounce around the outputs. Learn how to use the equipment you have! Hmm … Apparently not! This seems to be unique to someone who hasn’t grasped the basics of signal flow. Please - RTFM! I know this is not going to help, but I really don’t care any more, this far down the line. Kinell - It’s Saturday night and I am now going away to get very drunk and howl at the moon!
  3. Hi, Much like @rd2rk in the post above, I’m not sure that I understand, or possibly, you don’t understand the functions of the HX Effects box. It was designed as a guitar multi-fx processor, and as such, and because the majority of guitars are MONO, then the Left Input is and will remain MONO, or chronic MONO as you call it. Suffice to say, the second input (Right) enables the use of external stereo devices such as stereo pedals, drum machines, synths, etc. All internal signal paths are stereo, even those A/B split paths, and should emerge from the other end in glorious stereo. UNLESS YOU PLACE A MONO EFFECT BLOCK IN THE PATH! If that is the case you will find that everything following that block will be collapsed to “chronic MONO”. If that is not what is happening, and “the truth still remains that there is something wrong with the stereo inputs on my brand new Line 6 HX Effects unit“, then simply contact Customer Support and you will be refunded, or have a brand new replacement unit supplied - these are standard consumer rights. Hope this helps/makes sense. Oh, you might want to read this. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050e070d666767d27e720/application/pdf/HX Effects 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf also available in French, German and Japanese.
  4. Oops! Apologies. That video is the one linked on the Helix Help website and it usually very good for information such as this. https://helixhelp.com/models Obviously, it didn’t make sense or help this time.
  5. Hi, Here is the info in a video about the BE-100 on which the Placter Clean is based:- The info about the Clean Channel is around 2:10 Hope this helps/makes sense.
English version: - Hello community, I hope everyone is doing well I have a question about the "looper": How do I assign different effects for each loop? I use the loop in 6-channel mode, but as soon as I add an effect it is found on all the loops I have done previously.. Also, is there a trick that allows you to put an effect per loop? Thank you in advance for your answers ^^ Hi, You appear to misunderstand the Looper functions in your HX Effects unit. There isn’t a 6 channel mode available, but there is option that works with 6 switches. Rather than re type all the information here, I suggest that you read the section regarding how to use the 6 switch Looper on pages 26 & 27 of the French version of the HX Effects 3.0 Owner’s Manual. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050e070d666767ef38e19/application/pdf/HX Effects 3.0 Owner's Manual - French .pdf Regarding the placement of the looper in your signal chain. It work just like any other dedicated hardware looper, but is limited to 60 seconds in mono, or 30 seconds in stereo. Any effects you want to be recorded by the looper should be placed before the looper in the signal path. Any effect blocks after the looper can be added to the loop playback, such as, delay and, or reverb. For example: - place a chorus and phaser block going into the Looper. First record a loop with the phaser on, put the looper into overdub mode now exit the looper and turn off the phaser and turn on the chorus. Then you need to re access the looper mode to record your overdub. When in overdub mode, the looper should still be playing back your original phased piece, then you add another layer of chorus audio on top of the original part. The layered loop will be processed by any following effects depending on if they are on or off. Damn, it easier to see it at work - here’s a video of Paul Hindmarsh using the 6 switch Looper in the HX Effects. https://youtu.be/zewc9wB5b6k?si=MHYf5Nq5b3-mZuhQ Hope this helps/ makes sense.
  7. I don’t know where you are getting your “no download” information, but it is wrong! This is from the download page. Helix/HX 3.71: (released January 11, 2024) includes several bug fixes, and is strongly recommended for all users. These are the release notes for v.3.71 Also you mentioned:- "unable to import this preset because required license wasn't found" and “Preset translation not supported, dsp block constraint exceeded.” This possibly points to a couple of things, such as, “license” - this may be due to the fact that the purchased preset may contain a particular IR that is required to complete the preset. The second item about DSP more likely indicates that this particular preset was created to be used with one of the larger members of the Helix range that actually utilise 2 DSP chips. Caveat emptor- a little research is a big help! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Hi, Reading through the replies it actually appears that when he mentions the POD he is making reference to the POD X3 Pro, IIRC from way back in 2008 . The POD X3 Family Pilot's Handbook > Section 3.22 "Effects Loop – the Effects Loop provides two jacks for stereo FX Send and two for stereo FX Return, operating at approximately 19.5 Volts peak-to-peak, making it optimal for line level devices. The loop can also be used with most stomp boxes by adjusting the send and return levels. Use the Left Return jack for mono return. The loop can run pre or post Amp Model, and if nothing is connected to it, POD X3 Pro is smart enough to disable the loop so you still get sound. See Chapter 5 for details." Still, if it was me, I wouldn't stick a dirt pedal into an FX Loop, for the same reasons as described by @rd2rk in the earlier post above, but hey - whatever floats yer boat! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  9. Hi, I have to agree with @rd2rk about the software - the majority of failed updates are generally down to “user error”. There are many, many threads in here which describe how to recover from a failed update - simply search, because life is too short for us to keep on typing out the same information, over and over again. Oh, look, there is one right here:- Also bear in mind that when seeking assistance from Forum users it's a really good idea to supply as much information as possible regarding the computer and operating system, HX unit and DAW, you are using. Furthermore, you should be aware that if you are using HX Edit to update over USB, and it fails, then ensure that HX Edit is fully closed down before attempting to run the Line 6 Updater as it cannot connect to your “failed state hardware” if HX Edit is still running. Never have other things running in the background during updates and don’t let the Updater lose focus, (don’t go clicking around on other stuff). Oh, it’s 8 years this month since I started to use my Helix floor and I never have issues with updates. Hope this helps/makes sense
  10. Hi, Yes, you can use Command Centre to assign almost anything to some other thing. A/B splits are easy, or, you could use an expression pedal to sweep between the 2 options if you like. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. Hi, Yeah, it's a science thing - It known as Pan Law, but rather than send you to some Wiki about it, here's a great post from way back in 2019 which explains it. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. The Line 6 demo video featuring Pete Thorn, as linked by @theElevators in the post above, shows him re-amping using the Helix floor. There is a slight difference when using your HX Stomp as it needs to be set on USB 5&6 to listen to the DI dry audio signal being sent out from your DAW which should also be sending out on USB 5/6. This information is available in the HX Stomp 3.0 Owner’s Manual > page 56 > DI Recording and Re-amping. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b058066312873a50cf/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  13. Hi, As you mentioned, usually this sort of thing occurs along with the error codes -8201, or -8207 when people have modified their existing system by, for example, swapping a hard drive. Apparently, this happens because of the Helix Native copy protection. Generally, you need to fully remove any and all parts of your version of Helix Native, then you need to navigate to Authorized Devices @line6.com (it is under your sign-in avatar) and locate the Deauthorize button next to the Authorized date to remove any unwanted devices. Once, you have completed this process, you should download and reinstall the latest version of Native and restart your computer. Launch Ableton, and insert an instance of H Native and authorise your new copy. If this doesn’t correct the problem, then raise a ticket with Customer Service who should be able to assist with this issue. Also, see the Helix Native Pilot's Guide and on page 6 you will find the detailed info you might require, under the heading "Removing Helix Native". https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b07b166314173f4061/application/pdf/Helix Native Pilot's Guide 3.70 - English .pdf Also, see this: Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Hi, It might be beneficial to read the HX Effects 3.0 Owner’s Manual > Using Snapshots > page 31. Also, check out the Command Centre function (page 41) for more flexibility. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050e070d666767d27e720/application/pdf/HX Effects 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Hi, Helix products do not handle MIDI SYSEX messages. See pages 72 & 73 of the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual > MIDI Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Hi, I guess it would be a nightmare for anyone who changed, for instance the drive on the amp, only to have that change applied to every other preset that used that particular model - the potential for a catastrophic gig is right there. Anyhow I digress - you should know this:- There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). This link is where you need to go to have any hope of your suggestion been seen by anyone from Line 6: https://line6.ideascale.com/c/ Before posting any new ideas, please do a search to see if it's already been listed. Multiple requests for the same thing will thin out the votes. Also, post your ideas one at a time. Many users don’t vote for combined suggestions. Then you should use the “sticky thread” in this forum to let other users know what your suggestions are, with links to IdeaScale, so they can vote on it if they wish. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. Hi, While you might find that very useful to you, it may well be a total pain in the aspidistra to others who bought the Helix because it is essentially designed as an amp modelling system and comes complete with a wide range of options from old school to boutique models. From what you say about only using one amp with the Helix floor, some might find that rather a waste of money and resources. Possible a better choice would be the HX Effects and a single amp or more limited choice amp modeller of your choice. That way you could set and forget every knob on the front of your amp forever. Other than that, with the Helix your options are Create a template that uses your favourite amp to use as the basis for all your sonic excursions Select your single favourite amp and adjust to your own taste, then save that as the default setting for that model - then every time you load it you're ready to go. Much the same as version 2. Set up the amp to your liking then save it to the Favourites folder ready to drop into whatever path you wish. Then the downside of this is, if you make a change to your amp setting it does not carry through to every other instance of that amp block in other presets. Hopefully you can see how that could be a nightmare scenario for other users. I think your approach to using the Helix must be truly unique. Hope this helps?makes sense.
  18. Hi, Once you have found it, by using the “Spotlight Search” as suggest by @theElevators in the post above, when you open it it should appear in the “dock” of your Mac. If you highlight the HX Edit icon in the Dock you can select to keep it available from there for future use, without having to search again. https://support.apple.com/en-gb/guide/mac-help/mh35859/mac#:~:text=rearrange Dock items-,On your Mac%2C do any of the following%3A,is placed in the Dock. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Hi, Before diving into IdeaScale, there is a general rule of dealing with weird, strange and unexpected things happening your HX device. Perform a Factory Reset - (it’s a kind of magic!) If after the reset you are still experiencing this strange behaviour, your best course of action would be to raise a ticket with support. They are the most likely people to supply a remedy. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. Hi, You may want to check out the Command Centre options within your HX Stomp. “The HX Snapshot command allows you to configure a Stomp mode footswitch to recall any snapshot within the current preset immediately.” HX Stomp 3.0 Owner’s Manual - page 47 - HX Snapshot https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b058066312873a50cf/application/pdf/HX Stomp 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. "I have a line6 HX effects and I use it basically for bass. I would like to get in touch with colleagues who have established effect chains for specific songs or for defined styles. Apart from problems and solutions derived from the use of the unit. And above all, in Spanish. Thank you" Mientras esperas que alguien responda, puedes intentar escribir "BASS" en la sección CustomTone de Line 6 para HXFX. Sólo hay unos pocos, pero es un lugar por donde empezar. Espero que esto ayude/tenga sentido. https://line6.com/customtone/search/?submitted=1&family=hx_effects&sort=rating&sort_dir=desc&search_term=Bass While you wait for someone to reply, you could try typing "BASS" in the Line 6 CustomTone section for HXFX. There are only a few, but it is somewhere to start. https://line6.com/customtone/search/?submitted=1&family=hx_effects&sort=rating&sort_dir=desc&search_term=Bass I hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. Hi, I think the same as @rd2rk, in his post above, it could be a cable that has come adrift inside the unit. Report it to Customer Support to see if they have any clues. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. It's not stupid if you are unaware of IRs and their uses. Generally the person who posts the Preset to CustomTone should leave a mention of what exact IR has been used, and where it is available for purchase, or download. I just did a quick check on a couple of Hetfield/Metallica presets and one listed two different IRs being used and stated that they were from Ownhammer. Some Ownhammer IR files are available from the Line 6 Marketplace or directly from their web store: https://www.ownhammer.com/store/ Other IR retail outlets are available, but remember not all IRs are created equal - i.e- some have more fans than others, and prices vary. I also noticed that some of the Metallica presets do not have any IR or Cabinets used in them, because the person who made the preset goes directly to their own amp/cab set up or a FRFR box. As noted by @somebodyelse in the post above, since the update to the Speaker Cabinet system in Helix you may be better off finding a suitable onboard cab and simply play around with different mics and positions. There is quite big selection to choose from. Have fun with your new LT, and experiment - the are really difficult to damage. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi, Well, the first thing that springs to mind is - CustomTone. This has been discussed at length many, many times in these forums. If you download anything claiming to sound like, insert name of band/artist here, it is almost guaranteed that when you stick it into your HX device it will be nowhere even close. Why is that, you ask? O.K. consider this - unless you are using the exact same guitar, strings, pickups, playing with the same technique and listening through an identical monitoring system in the exact same environment, then - NO! it's not going to happen. Also bear in mind that some to the stuff posted on CustomTone might require the addition of a third party IR, that may be free, or needs to be purchased. CustomTone is possibly a starting point, but it is not the Holy Grail, lots of work may be required to get it sounding how you think it should. The best advice about this sort of thing is to "roll your own" tones. You cannot expect to push a foot switch and become Kirk Hammett. Hope this helps/makes sense
