Hi, Really? Yamaha acquired Line 6 way back in December 2013, to operate as a wholly owned subsidiary, with the internal management remaining the same. Since then, Line 6 launched the Helix in 2015, when I bought mine, I don’t think that I have been aware of Yamaha having any involvement in how the Helix family evolved. For example if Yamaha had been taking notice of comments about Helix, they would have probably been aware of the stacks of requests to add some of the legendary effects from their 18” rack mounted SPX 90 unit - specifically the Symphonic effect (preset 15 in the SPX). I also hung on to my Yamaha Magic Stomp FX pedal (that Allan Holdsworth used) because Helix never added them - NOTE: Allan was an old mate from way back in the late 1960s, also, I still have my SPX90 gathering dust in the rack over in the corner. Hmm… yeah sure there is, for stuff that uses small amounts of processing power, but how many distortion pedal models do you need? Some interesting developments in the modulation, delay and reverb department would be fun, but at what price? We all know that the reason that Strymon reverbs sound the way they do is because of the huge amount of DSP they use to create those sounds, and that would consume, at a very minimum, one entire path of your Helix - so that’s not going to happen where the HX Stomps are already running a single processor. No, as pointed out in the post above from @stapani, the comment from Eric doesn’t look that thrilling, especially this far down the tracks. I bought my Helix floor way back in 2015, for what it could do then - which was 46 Amps, 30 Cabs, and 79 Effects. Since then we have had many FREE firmware updates, so that now at version 3.80, Helix is loaded with 103 amps, 41 cabs, and 241 effects. Yay! FREE. You have to realise that Helix was not designed to be a solution for all situations - for example the great many people who complained about the onboard Looper. Those nice folks at Line 6 gave the Helix a whole bunch of in and out connections for third party options. In my case I actually have several different external Looper units for various uses. Similarly with external delay and reverb functions, I have used third party options to do the job, especially prior to Helix adding a reverse reverb function which didn’t happen until v. 3.70 late in 2023. Be happy with what you have, or buy a Stadium XL. Hope this helps/makes sense.

This is a user to user forum. There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). As the focus is now on developing the Stadium side of the product range, then “near future” is not really the best time frame to consider. How near, or how far, you will never know until it happens. Furthermore, anyone else who maybe likely to have a clue, (Beta Testers for example) are under NDAs, but they seem to have deserted this forum and are more likely to be found over on The Gear Page - Digital and Modeling section. You may also find Eric Klein - (Digital_Igloo) Line 6 Chief Product Design Architect posting in there. Note: if you ask DI about Helix Firmware updates, his usual response is “Soon!”, so don’t hold your breath. Hope this helps makes sense.

Hi, When your Helix starts to do weird, and unexpected things, then the first thing to try is a Factory Reset. Reset Options Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. Also, USB connections can be a world of voodoo and can be very temperamental - never use a USB hub (Note: some USB ports on the front of PCs can act as a hub). Try connecting to a USB port on the rear of the computer, which is more likely to be connected directly to the motherboard. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, I have just had another look at your original post, and rather than this being an intermediate update to Mac OS Tahoe (v26.2 released Dec 12 2025), my guess is that you have installed a full update from an earlier Mac system. This sort of thing is one of the perils of being an early adopter (Tahoe released Sept 2025) - Apple has a habit of introducing new operating systems that bring the whole house of cards tumbling down. If that’s the case, then this could well be the cause of the problem. As pointed out in the link you posted above, regarding POD HD500X and Tahoe, this maybe a situation where you need to boot into recovery mode and adjust the security settings for your Mac. This needs to be done to enable the Kernel Extension to function correctly, especially as the Mac drivers haven’t been updated since 2021. Hi, again, All I can add to this is to say that although I have been using my Helix floor and viewing/contributing to these forums since 2016, this is a phenomena which I have never encountered, or seen mentioned prior to this. Hi, Gary, It looks like you have tried all the usual/regular “fix it” routines that can be done by the general user, without any success. One thing that I noticed is that you say that you managed to do a clean reinstall the 3.80 firmware, Then when it finished you did a reboot with FS9 & 10 held down, which should perform a Global reset, clear the IRs and reset the setlist to the factory default. You didn’t mention that after the firmware updated and your LT restarted - did it do through the updating presets routine? This can take quite a while, so you would’ve noticed if it did. The reason I ask is because, if there was some reason that this part of the update was missed, then you can force the upgrade of the presets to the current format, by holding down FS10 & 11 while turning on the power to the Helix. If you haven’t tried this, it may be worth a shot, because an incomplete preset rebuild has previously been known to cause weird things to happen. Sadly, that’s all I’m able to offer, other than agreeing with @silverhead, in the post above - it might need a Service Tech to check it out, as it would be beyond the scope of most users. O.K. Here we go, one more time. Go to the “DOWNLOADS” section of the menu bar at the top of this page. Please select, download and install HX Edit v3.82 and the Line6 Updater v1.28 that match your computer Operating System. Make a note of where you saved the downloaded files, you will need them later. Then proceed using these steps 1. Disconnect the USB cable connecting your Helix LT to your computer. 2. Boot the Helix LT into "Update Mode" by switching off the device. Then power on the HX LT while pressing and holding down footswitch FS6+FS12 (the last two upper/lower on the right hand side, to the left of the expression pedal). 3. Reconnect your Helix LT to the computer, preferably trying a different port than before. NOTE: The front USB ports on some PCs can act like a hub, therefore it may be advisable to connect via a rear port which is probably connected directly to the Mother Board. 4. Launch Line 6 Updater. It is essential to make sure HX Edit is not opened/running. Don't try to use HX Edit for updating when it previously failed to connect. 5. If the unit connects, attempt to reinstall the firmware. 6. If the unit does not connect, close Line 6 Updater, connect to a different USB port on the computer, preferably with a different USB cable as well, and relaunch Line 6 Updater. 7. If the unit then connects, reinstall the firmware. 8. If the unit does still not connect, please try a different computer It might be a good idea to have a look at this:- Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, David, Firstly - Don’t Panic - this stuff is usually fixable and mostly painless. Below is a link that has been the “Get Out of Jail Free” card for many users who encountered update issues. Read, study and inwardly digest all the information in the link, and proceed step by step, and remember this was put together around four years ago, so you need to note any reference to version numbers will need to be the very latest ones. Oh, yeah, a couple of things that cannot be stressed enough - never use a USB hub, and also, HX Edit cannot connect to a Helix device that is in a failed update state. If that’s the case you should use the information on how to perform a “local” install, using Line 6 Central, or the older dedicated Line 6 Updater app. Furthermore there was a huge update to the Helix Core at version 2.80 of the firmware, which seemed to take a great deal of time to perform the update. Theoretically, you can update from v.2.7 straight to v.3.80.0, but as this involves the Core update it may seem to take longer than expected. From the Release notes for v3.70 My Helix/HX is at version X.XX. Can I go straight to 3.70? Yes, but note that if you're starting from 2.80 or lower, the update may appear to happen three times and will take notably longer than 30 minutes. This is normal. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, I’m a Logic user, and AFAIK, the Mac does not require a specific audio driver (especially ASIO which is a Windows thing) - it all functions on the systems Core Audio. Over on the Steinberg Cubase forums there was this:- https://forums.steinberg.net/t/macbook-air-tahoe-built-in-audio-not-connected/1020803 The post is quite recent, but I also found a comment regarding the same issue dated back in 2023, so I guess this is not new, or related to Tahoe in general. Also, IIRC, a couple of years back, Line 6 partnered up with Steinberg to offer a free copy of Cubase LE with any HX product, so I don’t think that this issue is intentional. Hi, Ron, From the Firmware Release Notes: Helix/HX 3.80 (released November 19, 2024) includes 6 new amps, 4 new cabs, 1 new effect, and bug fixes and is strongly recommended for all users of Helix and HX. As you note, HX Edit v3.82 was released on 3rd December 2024. Also, v3.81 was released on 20th November 2024, just one day after the main Firmware dropped. These were rapidly deployed “bug fixes”, but it is still recommended that you should update to the latest version of both the firmware and editor software. There aren't any Release Notes for these last two revisions of HX Edit as they only include the latest graphic updates that were causing issues, especially on Mac OS. On the download page, you are advised to follow the link to view 3.80 Firmware Release Notes, but Line 6 haven't added anything extra apart from the graphics updates in 3.82, and 3.81, that were added as a fix for Apple Silicon computers. Meanwhile - we await Firmware v.4.0 - yeah, right! Line 6 has their focus in other directions right now. Oh, yeah - Helix Stadium is a totally different beast, with a different editor. Hi, I don't have a HXFX, but I just checked my Helix Floor and the Capacitive Footswitch options are: Off -Touch - Press - Touch+Press, as you stated is the case with your HX Stomp. AFAIK, all the main Firmware is the same across the range, other than the FX is minus Amps & Cabs obviously. Have you tried a Global Reset on your HX Effects? Hold down FS4 & FS6 while turning on the power. You can also Restore your Global Settings from the backup you made with HX Edit prior to updating the firmware to v.3.80.0 Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, again, Update to previous post regarding using a footswitch to turn the Input Gate ON/OFF. SOLVED! I just fired up HX Edit and selected the Path Input (Set to Guitar) and in the EDIT Section you can set a foot switch to turn the Gate On or Off. The down side of this is that you lose the functionality of one of your limited amount of available footswitches. Also, if you go really crazy, you can map an expression pedal to control the Threshold and/or Decay of the Gate, although I can't see the point of that, other than it is possible. Have fun! Hi, That’s a bit of an odd question, because generally you would require a noise gate to be on, and thus block any unwanted noise passing through your signal chain. Having a noise gate across the input means that you’re not using an otherwise valuable footswitch to do the job. Usually a noise gate is best positioned right at the front to remove any unwanted hiss, or noise from pickups. If you do wish to use a footswitch then a Noise Gate block, or Hard Gate (good for stutter fx) are also available in the Dynamics section of the effects blocks. I’m not in the studio today, and I’m unable to check this, but theoretically, using Command Centre, you can assign just about anything to anything. Although, what the advantages of that are I’m not sure, because the only adjustable things on a Gate are Threshold and Decay (Release). I really don’t understand what you want to achieve by turning a gate on, or off. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Follow the information given in the post above from @rd2rk which will provide you with the necessary switching option. Judging from your original comment, regarding Return 3, it seems to indicate that you’re using a Helix floor, or Rack unit. If that’s the case you can also use the same technique as mentioned above, but rather than a foot switch you can assign your EXP to smoothly bend, back and forth, between the 2 separate audio paths. Whichever you find easiest for your situation. Here’s a video:- Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, The Controller for the Helix Rack connects via a standard Cat5 Ethernet cable, and AFAIK that should be good for the maximum standard length of 100m (328ft), at speeds of 1Gbs. You did mention “Kemper World”, so if you are a former user of long cables with PoE injectors, you may be in the perfect position to test them out in a real world scenario. Other than testing it yourself, the best option is to contact Customer Service for a definitive answer. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Even if that was an option, what’s the point? You have resurrected a dead thread. That list is only relevant to v.3.5 firmware which is now a couple, or even three years out of date. Hi, The general consensus of users in these Helix forums is:- when weird stuff starts to happen, perform a factory reset. Another point about this sort of thing is:- always update to the latest firmware for your unit. Firmware updates are always the most stable version, and usually contain bug fixes, and many other undocumented things designed to make your life with the device as good as possible. When updating always follow the instructions to the letter. Cutting corners will only lead to problems, further down the line. Also, remember before updating you should ensure you make a backup of all your presets and settings. After updating, you must allow your hardware to run through the “Updating Presets” routine, as this will make all your presets compatible with the latest firmware. Remember - Fail Safe - back up first. Here ya go! Hi, “Destroyed”, seems to be an extreme term. Usually, the serial number is printed on base of the device. Also, if they all have a generic ESN, how is it possible to differentiated one unit from another. Weird! IIRC - you should be able to display the serial number of your HX Stomp by switching off the power. Next, hold down the third encoder knob on the right, below the screen. While holding down the encoder, power up the Stomp and the screen should display the serial number of your unit. Make a note of the USN and pass it on to Line 6 support to verify. Hi again. You haven't told us what Helix device you are trying to use with a microphone. In my earlier reply, I mentioned that only the Helix Floor and Rack models are fitted with XLR Mic inputs and 48v Phantom Power, also by default USB 7 is set for Guitar and USB 8 is set for Mic. These can be changed to Aux, Variax, Variax Mags using the encoder below each option. Example video - Helix Floor. If you are using any of the other HX units then you will probably need to use a "Lo Z to Hi Z changer" (Impedence Matching Transformer) in order to use a 1/4'' socket input to connect your mic.
