  1. Huh? Any update to what exactly? If you want to jam along to Spotify, iTunes etc, simply connect your Helix to your computer via USB. The select Helix as your default Audio Interface In/Out on your computer. Connect your guitar and phones to Helix - done! It has been that way since day one, back in 2015. QUOTE: Helix Owner’s Manual > Page 68 > USB Audio ”With the Helix default “Multi” Input and Output block settings in use, you’ll automatically hear audio software playback on USB 1/2 routed directly to the Helix XLR, 1/4" and Phones outputs. This lets you jam along with YouTube, iTunes, or your DAW tracks without hearing them through a bunch of amps and effects.” Link: https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b287e6643b71cda93a/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. Ah ha, that was a simple fix for you, but the thing in my situation was with a dry soldered joint. It seems this was happening on a few of the early Floor and Rack units. Although, I then got a little spooked after the repair, when after updating to v.2.8x the joystick once again appeared unresponsive. Lot of other users had the same problem, which appeared to be a “bug” in the Firmware and could be fixed by reverting to an earlier version of the firmware, and later moving on up to v2.9. I haven’t encountered any recent reports of flakey joystick behaviour, but there was lots of reports way back as far as 2016. Oh, yeah - I bought a copy of your fine book on the first release - outstanding work! Happy trails.

Erm... well no. The Factory Reset put it back to the default settings of whatever firmware was already installed. Anyhow, you really should be running the latest and greatest version of the firmware (currently v.3.71), as it always contains enhancements and bug fixes for the Helix Core System. Of course should you ever feel the need to revert back to an earlier version, then the older versions are still available from the Line 6 Download area. Note: you will also need the matching version of HX Edit to go with your retrograde firmware, and any presets that you have created in the new versions are not backwardly compatible. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. Hi, As we are all aware of how much DSP this effect uses, then the solution would appear to be, if you are really going to want to use the Feedbacker in a preset - add it first into a signal path of a blank preset. Shows up last in the list of mono Dynamics every time, if nothing else is in the path. Hope this helps/makes sense
  5. I'm in agreement with the two comments above. I have had my Helix floor since late 2015 and it is used almost daily in my home studio. The only issue I have had with it was a fault on the joystick which was quickly repaired by an authorised Line 6 Service Centre. Essentially, as with any pre-owned electronic device - you pay your money and take a chance. I have a rack full of outboard digital effects and multi timbral synth modules from the mid 1980s that still function perfectly. I have also bought things brand new that have died within a few months, or even weeks.

Hi, It’s not tricky - it’s quite straight forward, and as for a manual, open HX Edit and click on the “question mark” icon in the lower left corner of the GUI window. From there you can select the HX Edit Pilot’s Guide v3.70 and on Page 27 is the info required for making a full backup, and restore, of all your stuff. Once you have a backup you should turn off your Helix, then while you turn the power on again, hold down FS5 & 12 until you see the boot screen. This will clear all the setlists and IRs, and return the system settings to the default. When this completes you can reload everything from your backup file, and restart the Helix. On rebooting the Helix should perform a normal “housekeeping” routine, where you will see “Rebuilding Presets” displayed on screen - it may take a couple of minutes, but all your old presets will have been upgraded to the latest format. You can find a full list of all the reset options for your Helix, here:- https://helixhelp.com/tips-and-guides/universal/reset-options Hope this helps/makes sense.
  7. Hmm… listened carefully to the same sample? Both examples are the AC15. I’m in agreement with @DunedinDragon about the sound quality, and as suggested by @rd2rk, please supply a copy of the presets to check, rather than screen shots. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Hi, Rather than having to type out a lot of instructions - a video is worth more than words. Here ya go! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  9. Hi, The Bronze Master can be found under the Legacy section of the Distortion FX list of the HX One. See page 14 of the Owner’s Manual. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b05d466312c21c9acd/application/pdf/HX One Owner's Manual - English .pdf HX One has it’s own specific area of these forums - you can find it here: https://line6.com/support/forum/101-hx-one/ Hope this helps/makes sense.
  10. Hi, Just did a quick random download from the Helix section - works fine for me. Possibly, a temporary glitch - if at first you don’t succeed, try again. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. This is one of those situations where the only person who can convince you about Helix Native is YOU! Suffice to say, I have been using Helix Native in Logic Pro since it first arrived way back in August 2017, and it is updated regularly along with the matching hardware units. I previously had POD Farm and a whole stack of extension packs - none of which could hold a candle to Native. I have to say that I think your logic, regarding those other companies, is seriously flawed - you have zero guarantee that any of those companies you mention will still be in business tomorrow. You pay your money, and take a chance. The only certainty in life is uncertainty! The best thing you can do right now is to download and install the latest version of Helix Native which can be run for 15 days without any restrictions. Prepare to be amazed! It may be time to drag yourself out of the Stone Age and into the future. Oh, yeah - you did miss the spec regarding Apple OS. from the download page: “Compatible OS: Mac OS X, macOS Sierra, macOS High Sierra, macOS Mojave, macOS Catalina, macOS Big Sur, macOS Monterey, macOS Ventura, macOS Sonoma” Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Hi, Well, I have been using my Helix floor and Helix Native (since being released in 2017) with Logic Pro and I have never experienced what you described. Essentially, Helix Native is the software brain that also exists inside the hardware devices - they are identical. Any difference you encounter must be due to how you have it set up and are using it, usually this can be something as simple as the input levels in Native (aim for-18dB) There could be many, and various factors involved, therefore rather than typing out lots of options I suggest that you go to this link and check some of the solutions offered in the thread. https://www.thegearpage.net/board/index.php?threads/sound-quality-difference-between-helix-native-vs-helix-hardware-units.2417766/ Recently, there has been some discussion on YouTube regarding various Amp Sims plug-ins and how the inputs are being overdriven, which can cause huge differences between tones that should theoretically sound identical. Check out young Mr. Cordy. Also, Rabea. Helix Native also has its own specific area in these forums. https://line6.com/support/forum/90-helix-native/ Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: If you haven't read this before - do it now. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b07b166314173f4061/application/pdf/Helix Native Pilot's Guide 3.70 - English .pdf
  13. Yep, it’ called HX Edit. Launch HX Edit and select the Extract Files From Backup command from the File menu to launch the window. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  14. Hi, If it is really important I guess you could revert to a prior firmware version where it does work. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Yeah, I guess we just know what to expect with it after all this time. It also occurs sometimes within DAWs - in Logic Pro for example what most folks regard as the stereo pan knob, is by default an balance knob that only controls the left/right relative levels. You need to control/right click on it to access the stereo field pan facility. Technology, eh?
  16. Hi, In much the same way as light can be used to capture a photographic image, likewise audio can create a sonic snapshot of the acoustic characteristics of a speaker cabinet and microphone placement in a specific room, ambient space, etc. Loading an IR which contains that sonic snippet into your Helix, should allow you to playback through it, to recreate the particular sound that was captured. Commercial IR packages can contain hundreds of these audio snaps captured by various mics at various positions within a given space - you simply need to audition each one until you find the one of your dreams - it could take quite some time. Alternatively, you could use the new cabinet modelling built in to the Helix , which is essentially thousands of IRs and a lot easier to navigate. Also, see page 37. https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b287e6643b71cda93a/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  17. Hi, Erm… well, yes you will hear a change in volume - it’s known as “Pan Law” and here’s the explanation from way back in 2019. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  18. Hi, Here's a thought. Care to explain how this is relevant to anything in the Helix sphere of products, or in anything to do with music in general? Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. A bug in 2.82 - hmm… right. I guess you must have a valid reason to be running a version of the Firmware from 2019, but each to their own. Although, if you simply update to the latest and greatest v3.71.0 you should find everything works just fine. Plus you will have lots more toys to play with. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: You will also need to update your Firmware to take advantage of those “200 useful presets” you enthusiastically commented on that are bundled free with the Craig Anderton Big Book of Helix Tricks and Tips!
  20. Hi, Clive, I guess the tone you’re looking for is Hank Marvin/Shadows style. If you click on “CUSTOMTONE” in the menu bar at the top of this page. On the next page click on “TONES”, then you can select HELIX, or NATIVE. In the next section you have the option to search. In the search box enter “Shadows” and hit return. You can now wade through a whole bunch of user presets that may, or may not, be what you require, but it is a place to start. Or try this shortcut. https://line6.com/customtone/search/?submitted=1&family=helix&sort=rating&sort_dir=desc&search_term=Shadows Hope this helps/makes sense. Oh, yeah, you will also need a Strat with a whammy bar.
  21. Hi, Clive, Jason has a video about this, only he is using Nano, but it should be the same technique. Here ya go! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. Hi, Clive, Good to know that you have a fully functional Helix Native and it was a quick fix. Thanks for posting to let us all know - you would be surprised how many folks don’t bother update us in here. Have fun!
  23. Hi, Firstly, this is a Helix user group, there are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). From the Helix v.3.0 Owner's Manual > Page 24 > The Blocks > Input Aux Aux in only. (10kΩ input for an active-pickup equipped guitar or bass.) Input > Multi and Input > Guitar blocks have an additional Guitar In-Z parameter. Helix has an impedance circuit on its Guitar Input that affects tone and feel by loading your guitar’s pickups as they would by an effect pedal or amplifier. A lower value will typically result in some high frequency attenuation, lower gain, and an overall “softer” feel. A higher value provides full frequency response, higher gain, and an overall “tighter” feel. The “Auto” option allows the impedance to reflect the impedance of the first block on Path 1A—also see the Auto Impedance option in "Global Settings > Preferences" on page 64. Link: https://line6.com/data/6/0a00050b287e6643b71cda93a/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf You may want to indulge yourself and purchase a copy of the "Big Book of Helix Tips & Tricks" (available from Sweetwater) by sometime forum contributor Craig Anderton. Check out the section entitled "The Input Impedance Trap" and all should come clear. Link: https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/AndertonHX-e--sweetwater-publishing-the-big-book-of-helix-tips-and-tricks Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi, If the onboard stereo delay (spread option) and reverbs are not doing it for you as they are, add a Stereo Width, or Stereo Imager block at the end of your signal chain. That should do it. Find them in the Volume/Pan Stereo block section. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. Ah, O.K. Although, in the OP’s second comment he does state:- “I opened a case with L6 and they said it will be addressed in a future update.” Last info regarding a possible 3.80 firmware update was mentioned in a post by Digital igloo over on TGP, about a month back, when he said they are aiming for later this year - don’t hold your breath. Hope this helps/makes sense.
