  1. Hi, O.K. I'm back here again to confirm - Yes, my Helix Floor does have Firmware Version 3.71.0 - a7e2585 installed, and the 3rd knob from the left actually does work properly in the Global Settings. Try this first to Reset the Globals to Factory: - Open the Global Settings Menu, then Press the ACTION Button. Now Press Knob 1 "Factory Settings" and when the dialogue appears Press Knob 6 "OK". I will state once again - When weirdness and unexplained things start to happen, perform a Factory Reset on your device. Make a backup of all the presets and settings on your hardware before doing the reset. If this doesn’t cure the problem, you could try re-flashing the Firmware. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  2. Hi, From the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual:- “When set to “10 switches,” FS1 (BANK ) and FS7 (BANK ) are re-purposed as additional Stomp switches. This “10 switches” option only affects the Stomp footswitch mode—when you have the device in Preset, Snapshot, or Looper footswitch modes, BANK and BANK are retained.” When weirdness and unexplained things start to happen perform a Factory Reset on your device. Make a backup of all the presets and settings on your hardware before doing the reset. If this doesn’t cure the problem, you could try re-flashing the Firmware. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  3. That's good news. Soon you will be the owner of a fully functional Helix Rack. Something to consider, while you have just invested $1,500 in a great digital amp modeller and multi-effects box of tricks, it might be wise to treat yourself to some halfway decent powered studio monitors to play through. You don't have to spend a lot for a a pair of small 3 1/2 - 5 inch monitors, and they will give you a more reasonable listening result than trying to push a mono output into your Fender Champ 40. Unless, of course, you intend gigging with the Helix, in which case you might be better off with a different amp and cab setup. Check this out. Also, simply type, "best budget 5 inch studio monitors" into Google and check the results. Some others that get reasonable reviews are: Presonus Eris E5, KRK Rokit RP5 G4 Behringer STUDIO 50USB Believe me, what you listen to the Helix through will make a world of difference, or continue playing it into the mono front end of the Fender using the onboard amp emulation an FX, and keep thinking that it's $1,500 of the worst tone ever. You get what you pay for, and what you play through. Oh, yeah, this is worth downloading and reading. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a41871c611d5f796d55e/application/pdf/Helix Rack and Control 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense.
  4. Hi, If you are referring to the 3 Note Oscillator block you have the option to change any or each oscillator’s Note, across any of the 9 octaves available. You define what 3 notes create the pad you want to generate. If you are asking about something else, then your question needs to be more specific. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  5. Hi, Probably not, because when set up correctly it should be just fine. A quick look at you example video leaves me with a few observations about what it is that I'm actually looking at. First, your Helix Rack appears to be set on Factory Preset "01A US Double Nrm", but it looks likes it has been edited and the original signal chain removed. Now what you have is an ANGL Meteor amp and cab block, that seems to be on the default setting, going direct to the output. Nothing else is active - so far , so good. Now you have the Output from the HX Rack going into a Fender Champion 40W Combo. Hmm... looking at the the LEDs on the front panel it would indicate the Fender Input is on Channel 2 which brings into play the Gain Knob and any one of the 12 built-in Voice settings from Tweed to Metal. It also looks as if the Champ's onboard FX are kicked in. This is not ideal. You have an ENGL® Fireball 100 complete with 4x12 cab slamming into the front end of your Fender with it's FX on. This is not a good set up for testing something like a Helix Rack. Having said that, it's not a great recording so it's difficult to detect just what exactly is happening to your audio, but it certainly shouldn't sound like that! Your Helix Rack is in a Flight Case, which makes me wonder if you bought it as a pre-owned device? If it was pre-owned, did you test that the Helix worked correctly before you bought it? Maybe you could get your money back, but "caveat emptor" as the saying goes. You also say that you "got the helix rack and updated it", but don't tell us what Firmware was already in the Rack, because there was a major change to the Core Audio Engine at version 2.80, but using the very latest v3.71.0 should bring everything into line, although it can take quite some time to update, and it may appear to fail part way through. Then when if finishes updating, the Rack should restart and begin "Rebuilding Presets". This can also take quite a while. You are then supposed to perform a Factory Reset on the unit. You didn't mention doing any of this. If you have not performed a clean update on the Firmware it can cause all sorts of issues. It may be worth flashing the Firmware again to make sure it was updated fully. If you need to check about various reset routines you can find them here. https://helixhelp.com/tips-and-guides/universal/reset-options#helix-rack Hope this helps/makes sense.
  6. Well, waddayano? Who’d a thunk it? ;-)
  7. Hi, I would think that if you were using a system that employed a sub woofer then it must have been controlled by a crossover. There are some crossovers that use 80Hz as a standard, but others may be 150Hz. It is an area of much debate. Do you know at what frequencies the sub should be working on? Also, as you said that this rig was a powered PA system I think you would be better off replacing the defective sub, as the whole thing was probably designed to work in unison and come close to a full range system. You didn’t mention the scenario in which you are using this set up? If it’s for gigging, and making a living, it may be time for an update on your PA system. For reference, here are the frequencies for guitar in E Standard: 82.41 Hz Low E (6th string) 110.00 Hz A (5th string) 146.83 Hz D (4th string) 196.00 Hz G (3rd string) 246.94 Hz B (2nd string) 329.63 Hz High E (1st string) Here are the basic range of frequencies for a bass guitar. 41.203 Hz E 55.00 Hz A 73.416 Hz D 97.999 Hz G Hope this helps/makes sense.
  8. Hi, Ah! Yes! The splendid Mr. Richie Castellano shows exactly what you need to do to get your EHX running from the Helix on board expression pedal. NOTE: As you started this thread, you must edit it to show (SOLVED!) in the title. Enjoy your new wah gizmo.
  9. Hi, This is from the EHX Co¢kfight Manual: ”EXP Jack – The expression/CV input controls the frequency knob. The position of the FREQ knob sets the maximum sweep range of the expression/CV input. Expression input jack accepts a TRS expression pedal connector or a Tip-Sleeve 0-5V control voltage input. The expression pedal should ideally use a 10k potentiometer with linear taper. It must have the wiper connected to TIP and toe-down connected to RING. Some manufacturers’ pedals do not conform to this convention and require a special cable/adaptor to swap RING and TIP. Suggested Expression Pedals: EHX Expression Pedal, M-Audio® EX-P, Moog® EP- 2 & EP-3, Roland® EV-5 or Boss® FV-500L.” After reading that, I think the simplest solution here would be to use a super cheapo M-Audio EXP pedal to control the EHX box while it is patched into a Helix FX Loop block. Or, you could try patching the EHX box into a Helix FX Loop block, and use TRS from the Helix CV Out to the EHX EXP In socket. Now you need to open the Helix Command Centre and assign the CV Min an CV Max values that will be controlled by the onboard Helix EXP to send to the EHX. See the Helix 3.0 Owner’s Manual > Page 57 for more info. https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a3f041b611d61cac763b/application/pdf/Helix 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: The Helix has a couple Talking Filters in the Legacy section - Obi Wah and Voice Box. Also check out the Seeker.
  10. Hi, In the "Templates" section of your Helix floor, you should find at slot 012 a preset named "Guitar + Vocals". Load it up, and you will be able to see on Path 2 how the Mic signal chain is setup. Input Mic > Vol Pedal > Studio Mic Preamp > Compressor > EQ > Multi Out. GLOBAL SETTINGS: Mic In 48V Phantom - When on, Helix provides 48V from the XLR Mic In jack to power studio condenser microphones. IMPORTANT! Never connect the Helix device’s XLR outputs to a device whose XLR inputs have 48V phantom power enabled! Hope this helps/makes sense.
  11. Hi, You may be 300+ miles away from your HXFX, but you are only a click away from the HX Effects 3.0 Owner's Manual (click link below) https://line6.com/data/6/0a020a411710a6112a67116f0b/application/pdf/HX Effects 3.0 Owner's Manual - English .pdf Apart from the instance in the post above regarding the Legendary Drive (Carvin® VLD1 Hi Gain Channel), or possibly the Regal Bass DI (Noble Preamp Bass DI), both the HXFX, and HX One, don't have any of the regular pre-amps onboard as in the other HX devices, but it does have the option to use the 4CM, and is illustrated on Page 10 of the Manual. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. I record acoustic guitars using my Helix floor and adding a looper block is easy enough, so that should be do-able, provided you can work within the limitations of the onboard looper, which was not really designed as a full blown performance looper. For more control of looping I use various external hardware options that I can plug into the Send and Returns of my Helix - e.g. Ditto 4x, Boss RC30 and a I have a couple of others available to give longer recording times and more audio trickery. Here's a guy doing some percussive bass with the looper on a HX Stomp XL. Enjoy Hope this helps/makes sense. According to the notes Jake did the improvisational performance with "Line 6 Variax 500", but the loops with SOS-mode of "Boss DD-20". AFAIK, Jake was recently seen using a Line 6 HX One, a DL4 MkII and a Tonex. I'm almost sure I have seen him using the Helix floor unit though.
  13. I have to agree with @rd2rk that there is no logical reason for that. Eventually you clarified that the 1/4” Out are going in stereo to your Scarlett AI that sends audio into your DAW, and your studio monitors are also connected to the Scarlett. What continues to confuse me is you still say that the LT stops sending the 1/4” Left/Right Out when you connect a Mono XLR to your powered FRFR. That indicates that there is audio present before the XLR is plugged in. Is there a reason that you are hooking up to the XLR Left (Mono) after everything else is up and running? When the XLR is connected are you still getting sound from the FRFR? - you did’t mention if that is the case. Apart from posting here, are there any other troubleshooting tests you have already tried - we don’t want to go over the same stuff. As ever in situations where your Helix starts to do weird and unexpected stuff - perform a Factory Reset. There's something strange going on. EDIT: I have just re-read your reply and seen this. “i'm simply looking to A/B what i'll be hearing through my FRFR at band rehearsals with what i'll be hearing through my nearfields when i practice at home.” Well, there’s an exercise in total futility, if ever. This gives the impression that you will be running your wedge monitor at full on rehearsal room/gig level, and your near fields at a more normal SPL. Labels and Jellymen, I give you the “Fletcher Munson Effect”.
  14. O.K. Here we go again. You are not giving enough precise information to be able to figure this out. If I recall correctly, you use Pro Tools (and Native) on a Mac M1, and to the best of my knowledge your Mac is not equipped with either 1/4” or XLR inputs, therefore I suspect you must be using a third party audio interface that has those options. Also, you say “but as soon as I plug in an XLR cable”, but where exactly is this XLR being connected?. If you are intending to swap between 1/4” and XLR, surely the cables would already be patched into the Helix and AI and then swapped by a switch on the AI. It would appear to me that you are “hot swapping” the cables, which seems to be unnecessary, and even may be causing your interface to “defeat” the connection and it may be the real reason for this. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  15. Hi, I'm not entirely sure that I understand what you mean by "defeats"? The 1/4", XLR output options at the end of your signal chain are: MULTI = 1/4", XLR, Digital, and USB 1/2 outputs are all active simultaneously. Normally, it is best to choose Multi. 1/4" = 1/4" Outs Only XLR = XLR Only Therefore if you choose XLR as the output option, then that is what you will get. Likewise if you select 1/4", the audio goes to the 1/4" sockets. If you want the audio to be output from a combination of both, simply select MULTI. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  16. Hi, Now, I’m really confused? Are you the same guy who started this thread? After a year, you now find that you cannot create a good tone using the Helix LT with the SD PS 170 and a 2x12 cab. You don’t tell us in what scenario you using, or intend to use, this set up - studio, live, bedroom? As I stated way back in your previous thread about comparison with YouTube videos - “if you are not using the exact same guitar, strings, technique, play back system, monitors and listening environment what do you think it would sound like?” Much like you, in here we are constantly confronted by young people who cannot even get close to the sound of guitars that are present in YouTube demos. My guess is that what you are missing is the skill to figure out how to make it sound good. You need to tell us what it is that you want to achieve. Hope this helps/makes sense. Oi, Agora estou realmente confuso?
  17. Hi, This issue was fixed in the v3.71 Firmware update back on January 10, 2024 that was entirely bug fixes, including the Tessellator and Glitch delay issue. 3.71—Delay > Tesselator could exhibit unexpected behavior in 3.70—FIXED 3.71—Adjusting the Delay > Glitch Delay block's Time parameter could sometimes result in muted audio or other unexpected audio behavior—FIXED Hope this helps/makes sense.
  18. Hi, A few things to remember about the improvements in the Helix are, the main Core operating system of the Helix range of products was modified at version 2.80 of the firmware, and since that time many improvements have been made to the audio with almost every update since, including v.3.10 which included - Quote:- "Oversampling has been increased across the board, resulting in higher fidelity, fewer aliasing artifacts, and smoother decay trails, especially when running multiple distortion stages or with higher gain tones. Many people might not notice a difference, but those highly sensitive to aliasing will appreciate 3.10's smoother response. Amp and effects models have been optimized to accommodate these improvements without increasing DSP usage." Then at version 3.50 the new Cab Engine was introduced and brought in the option of movable microphone positions. Also in v3.60 a few of the 3.50 factory presets were updated to utilize 3.60 cabs where appropriate, and 3.70 added yet more updated cabinets. If you check the settings for the original (legacy) speaker cabinets you will find that the all default settings have Low Cut set at 80Hz and a High Cut at 8.0kHz and on all the new cabinets the default settings are 'Off". You might find your tones are made slightly warmer by rolling off some of the higher frequencies, as generally with a guitar speaker there is not much happening above 5 or 6kHz. These updates are not done on a whim, but are generally well researched and user asked for improvements, plus I have been using my Helix since late 2015 and I have no complaints - it just keeps getting better. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  19. Hi, You might find some helpful extra information in this thread:- Hope this helps/makes sense.
  20. Hi, If you are going to do tone comparisons, then you have to play the identical scale, riff, chord progression, phrase or whatever by recording it absolutely dry, and then playing that example, back through the various presets you wish to compare. Your example doesn't comply with the reference standard. By comparing the audio waveforms it is clear that the second set of examples are played differently. Furthermore, you specified that you are doing a straight up comparison between firmware v2.92 and v.3.70. Not sure how you are trying to do that because there were major changes to the Cab Engine in firmware v.3.5. Also, the Factory 1 Preset 001 Essex A30 in the latest firmware uses the new Cabinet models whereas previous versions has the old 2x12 cabinets. Factory 1 Preset 072 Felix Engl is a totally different from whatever it is you have supplied in your example file. Your "Dire Straits preset from somewhere" is meaningless - we have no point of reference to check against. It is also recommended that when you change Firmware versions you should rebuild all the presets and perform a Factory Reset to bring all the presets into line with the currently installed firmware. You don't mention doing any of these things? You comment - "I have no idea when these "changes" have been introduced, so I'll stick with 292 for now. Don't really have the nerve to try out 196 different firmwares in order just to sneak a few new effects". Well those changes were made to satisfy the requests of many, many users and I don't understand where you get the idea that you have to load "196 different firmwares" - you don't - firmware updates are incremental, stuff keeps being added therefore you only need to load the latest iteration to have everything available. I have to agree with @Schmalle that any sonic differences in your wav are negligible and since the changes to the Cab Engine it would seem the majority of Helix users are very happy with the improvements made to the unit overall. You appear to be in a minority, but if you perform an audio comparison test properly and don't normalise the capture, check the waveforms, you may find that you have simply entered the realms of audio "cork sniffing", and it's all an illusion usually only available to bats. If I were you I would do a factory reset and rebuild the presets, and if you still don't like what you hear you can stay at FWv.2.92 in your own sonic isolation booth. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  21. HI, Have you considered that you could possibly use your Neural Plug-in an a similar fashion to how you would connect an external hardware amp sim, such as the Strymon Iridium. Your Focusrite 8i6 has enough ins and outs to give this a try. Set up a patch on your Helix to with whatever dirt/fuzz/OD blocks you want then a Send/Return block out to the Focusrite and into your DAW and Neural Plug-in. The output from the DAW goes back to the Focusrite and back to the Return on the Helix, which is followed by whatever time based FX, unique delay/reverbs you wish going to the stereo outputs. the Helix stereo outs then go back into the Focusrite to be recorded on a different track. I'm not sure if it will work exactly how you want, but give it a shot, you have enough patching options available. A bit of careful planning is required to make sure you have all your audio ins and outs set up correctly. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  22. Hi, Open a ticket with Customer Support: - https://line6.com/support/tickets/add.html Type “Native” into the Search function box and hit return. When it pops up a window saying that nothing matched your query, you will also see a button that allows you to open a ticket. On the next page - click the “No Product Applies” option and fill in your report in the space provided. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  23. Hi, Global Settings > In/Out - USB Trim 1/2 - Sets the level of incoming audio from USB 1/2, which bypasses all Helix processing. Normally, this should be left at 0.0dB. (Adjustable from -60dB to +18dB) Hope this helps/makes sense.
  24. Hi, From the HX Stomp XL Owner’s Manual - Page 7 ”EXP 1/2, FS 7/8 Connect an expression pedal here to adjust a wide variety of parameters.* With a Y-cable (tip-ring-sleeve 1/4" jack, split to two tip-sleeve 1/4" jacks), two expression pedals can be connected. Alternatively, you can add one (or with a Y-cable, two) external footswitches to access additional stomps, presets, snapshots, etc. (FS7=tip, FS8=ring). To set this jack’s function(s), see page 57. By default, this jack is set to accommodate a Mission SP1-L6H Line 6 Expression Pedal, which has a toe switch that toggles between EXP 1 (Wah/Pitch or Poly Wham) and EXP 2 (Volume/Pan). For external footswitches, the momentary (unlatched) type should be used.” From Page 57. No - Stop! I am not going to re-type the entire Manual when you can download it and read it for yourself - here: Hope this helps/makes sense.
  25. Hi, As a noob to the Helix world, and wanting to dig beneath the surface of the usual stuff, you might find that purchasing a copy of this would be a good investment. Full of good stuff. Hope this helps/makes sense.
