Hi, You might want to take a look at using a WIDI device for wireless MIDI connections. See this post from @PierM who is a something of a wizard with this sort of stuff. Hope this helps/makes sense.

help HX Stomp with Scarlett 18i20 on windows
datacommando replied to walter_mundstock's topic in Helix
Hi, I’m a Mac Pilot, so creating an aggregate of audio interfaces is very simple and it just works. When it comes to Windows PC machines, then it can be a whole can of worms. Sweetwater have this article on their website - https://www.sweetwater.com/sweetcare/articles/aggregate-audio-devices-and-drivers-for-pc-and-mac/ Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, As you have probably realised this subject has been done to death in these forums, but for some real insight, here’s the definitive answer from the man behind Helix. Over to Digital_Igloo - Chief Product Design Architect at Yamaha Guitar Group. https://blog.line6.com/2023/09/15/eric-klein-at-least-half-of-your-modelers-sound-is-determined-by-your-playback-system/ That should do it.

Hi Rachz, I’m in agreement with @Schmalle in the post above. I have read through the owner’s manual for the CyberTwin, which has very little information about the amps FX Loop, but what you describe is more than likely the action of the Fender amps Noise Gate. There is an LED on the front panel of the amp which lights up when the gate is active. For example, when you stop playing, if the LED is lit then that’s your issue and you can chose to adjust how the gate responds, or turn it off entirely. Hope this helps/makes sense.

There is no picture - only a generic .php file. Ensure that you upload a JPG or Pic file.

Hi, I have several external loopers that I use with my Helix floor, and one of them is a BOSS RC-30. I have not experienced a volume drop such as you mention, while using it in the Helix FX loop. I generally have the FX loop, set to instrument level, positioned after any dirt pedals and the amp/cab block. The stereo returns from the RC-30 then feed into any time based effects in the signal path and out to my monitors. I’m not sure what you mean when you say, “change track”, I guess you’re actually referring to changing Presets? If that is the case, then you need to have a Send/Return FX Loop block in every preset that wish to use with the RC-30. In situations like that it could be simple enough to set up a signal path with the block you want to use and then copy the preset to another slot where you can change the amp/cab and effects blocks as required. Duplicating presets is very easy. If you are wanting to change a Preset, while your looper is still playing, then that won’t work because of the time it takes to switch presets, and the Helix will lose the connection to the external device while switching. This was an issue with the onboard looper in Helix, but it could work provided the the internal looper block was the same type, and in the same position within the signal chain of each preset being used. There are so many different options within the Helix that it may be possible to configure your single preset to switch amps and effects all within the same patch. A little planning for what you want to achieve is a big help. Hope this helps/makes sense. EDIT: A couple of years back there was a whole thread about where to add external loopers to a Helix, and I believe that I uploaded a sample preset for the BOSS RC-30. Go check it out.

Hi, See my previous post just above yours. If you don’t make your feature request directly on IdeaScale, then there is absolutely no chance of it ever been seen by anyone from Line 6. Only post here to let other users about your suggestion, then they can vote for it if they wish. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Hi, Check the Global Settings > Ins/Outs > USB In 1/2 Trim. This is usually set to 0dB but you can adjust it to suit. Note: I use my Helix floor unit hooked up via USB to my iMac and don’t have any issues jamming along to any of the usual playback options, iTunes, YouTube or even when recording and playing back from Logic. It works just fine. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Ah, ha, but the Enigma machine was cracked by the team led by Alan Turing in Hut 8 at Bletchley Park. Incidentally, Yamaha R&D are just down the road from there. Riddle, mystery or enigma?

Hi, MIDI minefield? Oh yeah. MIDI was invented by Dave Smith of Sequential Circuits around 1981, and in 1983 I bought a Roland JX3P, one of the first synths to utilise MIDI. After all these years, having used it to communicate with a variety of rack synths, keyboards, drum machines, samplers and computer systems, it can still drive me crazy. Lucky for you the implementation of MIDI in the Helix family of products is very limited. It appears it can still baffle people 40 plus years down the road. ;-)

Is "The Big Book of Helix Tips and Tricks" at Sweetwater worth it?

You are perfectly correct, sir, and yours is a very similar point one that I have made in here on several occasions. It’s usually in response to those who post, saying the preset they’ve downloaded from CustomTone doesn’t sound exactly like, (insert name of any well known/favourite guitar slinger here). Strangely enough, this sort of comment isn’t only made by bedroom players listening through their computer, sometimes it comes from people who really should know better. Keep up the good work with the Helix Book of Tricks.

O.K. Here ya go, but you will need to take them from the setlists. Helix v1.03.factory.setlists .zip

Hi, You can find the older firmware presets collated by Ben Vesco right down at the bottom of the page, supplied in the link provided by @brue58ski in the post above. Although, I cannot figure out what can possibly be of interest in the original firmware which is 9 years out of date. Even if you did find the preset you’re looking for it will require updating to be compatible with the latest firmware. Maybe it’s me, or maybe not, because Digital_Igloo is also known to say “All Presets Suck”. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Using Gaffa tape and a Sharpie is a less permanent, or damaging, solution. ;-)

Helix Native - Tap Tempo Pitch / Global Settings
datacommando replied to elliotmoose's topic in Helix Native
Hi, again. Yes, you're correct - that option doesn't exist in Helix Native. and it never has. To me, it appears fairly obvious, that the smooth transition of tempo changed delay effects are going to be far more important in a live performance scenario - in fact mission critical to a live situation. In a recording there will probably more time devoted to capturing a good "take", along with a DI dry signal that can be used to reamp, and also change as many things as you like, until you achieve your perceived/desired result. Tempo changing delay times in a recording situation generally requires a completely different approach. Here's a quote from Line 6 regarding Reamping - Why, How, and Why Not? There are a number of benefits to this kind of scenario: 1. You can change the core tone of the guitar at any time: if you get to the final mix and the printed delay on the guitar track is too loud and the amp is too crunchy, reamp the track and turn down the gain and delay mix while you’re recording it back to disk. 2. You can punch into a solo or part that has printed effects at any time, even months later. Normally, punching into a part with a ton of printed time-based effects is impos- sible, because you can hear the punch point when the delay and reverb tails stop. With a direct track in the scenario, all you have to do is get the performance right using as many punches as you like, and then simply reamp the part using the same sound and setup. It will sound as if there are no punches at all, because as far as the reverb and delay are concerned, there really aren’t. HX Effects expression pedal assignment min/max values issue
datacommando replied to jolach's topic in Helix
Hi, again. Are we actually giving you answers to relay to a third party? I also re-read your initial post where you mentioned using the Exp pedal to edit on the M9. Hmm… is this what you mean? You could also tell your friend - “No, she didn’t buy an iRig”, but it’s a big help and a lot quicker to modify stuff with HX Edit. Also - see page 13 of the HX Effects 3.0 Owner’s Manual > Hands-Free Editing (Pedal Edit) Hope this helps/makes sense. -
Hi, Currently, there doesn’t appear to be a way to differentiate between 2 of the same type of device, other than which HX Edit window is in the foreground, also indicated by a checkmark to the left of the active device name. Open HX Edit and click on the “Question Mark” icon in the lower left of the GUI. This gives you the option to launch the “HX Edit Application Pilot’s Guide” pdf. You can find the “Multi-Device, Multi-Window Support” information on page 3. If you feel naming each device is important and should be available within HX Edit then you need to post your idea on IdeaScale. There are no Line 6 staff here and only very occasionally do they visit these forums - (See the “sticky comment” in the black banner stripe at the top of this page entitled “Welcome to the Line 6 forums”). This link is where you need to go to have any hope of your suggestion been seen by anyone from Line 6: https://line6.ideascale.com/c/line6 Before posting any new ideas, please do a search to see if it's already been listed. Multiple requests for the same thing will thin out the votes. Also, post your ideas one at a time. Many users don’t vote for combined suggestions. Then you should use the “sticky thread” on the first page of this forum to let other users know what your suggestions are, with links to IdeaScale, so they can vote on it if they wish. Hope this helps/makes sense.

Ah, now I think I get it. I also considered that a multi-tap may be worth investigating. Yeah, that should do it. Those very clever ancient Greeks and their calculations.

Hi, again. Surely, like all delay and reverb time settings, this should be a simple math problem, where you set the tempo on your preset to 120 bpm. You should select a stereo delay with 1/4 note set as the original TIME, then set the SCALE to 50 percent. The first repeat will occur on the quarter note in the left channel followed by a repeat from the right on the “and”. This should continue with repeats from the left landing on the 1 - 2 - 3 - 4, along with repeats on the right falling in between on the “&”. Possibly not what you’re wanting to achieve - but hey, play around with the percentage scale and you will work it out.

Hi, Here’s a link to a cheat sheet over on Sweetwater. https://www.sweetwater.com/insync/bpm-delay-times-cheat-sheet/ Hope this help#/makes sense.

Hi, Well, for the record, next month, my Helix floor will have been used as the main audio interface in my studio almost daily for the past 9 years. Although, I do have a couple of other Audio Interfaces as fail safe boxes, as anything electronic can crap out at anytime. These things are computers, but nonetheless subject to the usual wear and tear of daily use and things are likely to fail at some point. That’s just the way it is, especially something that is designed to be jumped on by feet. You buy these thing and take a chance. As far as my Helix is concerned, if it failed and couldn’t have it repaired, then I would replace it with another. :)
